I had my first craft show today and it went so much better than I expected. I learned a lot from this experience and things sold that I didn't expect would. Things didn't sell that I expected to receive a good reception to. Take a peek of @felinae_sollertia being an absolutely amazing helper today as well as the goodest boy @servicedognox rocking the longest over working outing he's had. This boy not only rocked hanging out for several hours yesterday afternoon for early set up, but also from our 7 am Starbucks run all the way through the rest of set up and the entire festival and tear down, not leaving the festival until 6pm. This boy did great for 11 hours straight! Sorry I haven't been overly active this past month. I applied to my local fall festival and got accepted so I've been busy making inventory. I will be working mostly on inventory for this show for the foreseeable future but will be posting any new creations. Right now it's pretty boring as I'm making lots of duplicates of many of the food earrings I have posted already. But there will be a lot of fun new stuff in the works soon and I will share it with you as I do. This will be my first ever craft show so I'm super excited. I fell off of the #MarchMeettheMaker2021 and this is a bit of the reason why. So I wanted to take one of the last days of the month to do another meet the maker post. Some of you know me and already know who this handsome man is. For those who don't, meet Nox. Nox is a almost 2 year old black lab (his birthday is a week from Monday) and he is my service dog. Nox just graduated from training a week and a half ago and was gone for 4 months where he underwent his final service dog training. I've owned Nox since 8 weeks old and waited for a year and a half to be born. It takes roughly 2 years to fully train a service dog and he is task trained to motigate my disability. I suffer from PTSD, anxiety and depression that greatly affect my ability to function on a daily basis. He is trained to respond to my panic attacks, provide a buffer between people and me, turn on and off lights, guide me to an exit, follow a designated person, panic interruption and more. This amazing dog is helping me regain my independence and get my life back. For 7 years I have struggled and though I am doing better I am thankful to have such an amazing partner to help me to continue to heal and take on the world together. Day 6&7 of #marchmeetthemaker2021 The weekends are Free prompts. I didn't post yesterday, so today I'll be combining both in a post that is fitting given yesterday. . Today I want to talk about mental health. It is something we talk about more and more each year compared to our parents generation and it's important we continue to discus it. When someone is physically sick or worn out we understand but if someone is having an off day mentally or suffers from mental illness there are stigmas attached or we say it's in their head, or to just suck it up. Things have improved over the years but there's a long ways to go. Social media can wear on your mental health a lot and it's important to take breaks. Yesterday even though I got some organization done at my art desk it was just a bad mental day for me. I suffer from PTSD, depression, and anxiety. For me, it is disabling and it has impacted my life severely over the last several years. Most notably the last 4 years, though my PTSD began to surface in late 2014 and I have suffered from depression in varying severities since 2009. I lost my older brother I'm a car crash that year when I was 16 and he had just turned 23. Since then other truams have happened in my life that have come to affect and my life more than I ever thought. The last several years have been some of the toughest and I've learned to cope and work through things. I went through a horrible time in 2018 which was the lowest I've ever been for an elongated time period. My art has helped me in many ways with my mental illnesses but at times it can become stressful enough that it can cause them to flare up. So it's important to remember to take a break and step back. This is part of the reason I am enjoying Meet the Maker. I can post about myself and my business without the usual stress I have of posting my creations all the time. I am still creating but I have backed off on posting for awhile because it was stressing me out way too much. I am excited to use this month to share more about myself and my art.
