Dear Nardiissists (I know there are many of you)
I am gonna level with you.
This whole operation is just a cover for me to put structure in my days. I am a semi self professed ADHD’er. And mostly I stunt through my days. I thought maybe I’ll make a blog about something I am knowledgeable about, this will secure some structure by posting stuff daily.
But in effect I am still wobbly.
I have had some great ideas though. For instance listen to the Apex twin song above and then directly, like in a playlist, listen to the following song. And try to blur your ears, (like when squeeze your eyes to make something more blurry, here try to hear the song reverby). Maybe there is a great remix in here.

Alan Wilson! Alan Wilson! Alan Wilson!
Wow Alan Wilson and the band are so great! This goes as deep as some of user18081971's stream on SoundCloud.
Form is just a frame (which to distort) only to make great content in.
Don’t like Hate that much (which is the lead singer of the group). I find him a bit obtrusive and less nuanced than the rest of the band.

This is a very nice remix. It’s up there with Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s remix of Sky Ferreira’s (Dev Hynes) remix of Everything’s Embarrassing, Betonkust’s remix of Faberyayo’s alleen met jou, Johnny Jewels At Leat the Sky is blue remix, Soulwax’s Let it Happen Remix of Tame Impala, and maybe Todd Terje’s remix of YMO’s Firecracker (which is in itself a rework) (not speaking about Terje’s other re-edits).
This has psychedelia, wonderful dreams, Miguel’s creamy voice, Believer sensibilities,
Enjoy!
The title always makes me think of Kanye’s song with the same title. Also a wholesome song.

This song. I guess Whitney is prettig intimidating for most people. Certainly this second album. Why? Perhaps because diffult unfinished (open) emotions are in the foreground.
I feel this too, but this group is so courageous to make a point of not avoiding this side of life.
But lets not get too carried away, you can also just back and enjoy the waves. Bottom line is that this music is near perfect classic AM radio rock. If you want (and have a strong enough mond, of dumb enough or stubborn enough) you can just push the emotionality to the background and the music (like you do with every other classic AM radio rock tune.

A classic breakup song. Also covered by The Isley Brothers AND Erykah Badu and former husband André 300. Wonderful song that plummets to the depths of humane relations and self identification. The music and melody fit perfect with the lyrics (even better then in the 1968 Nazz version).
I can’t describe the contents of the song better than is already apparent in the text itself. Still: it contains holding on vs. letting go, searching for peace of mind (in this incomplete existence, does one have a mind of one’s own or is the mind just a reflection of everything that surrounds you and what happens and are we just haphazardly making decision improvising by law of what’s supposed to be normal?).
Either way, here is an extra piece of entertainment: Todd Rundgrenn and John Lennon apparently got into fight in the mid 70′s. This is v e r y amusing. Relish the arguments being thrown of these two bitchy intellectuals. Here is a link to the article. (Thanks to my pal for bringing this up).

Uhhhhmm, Drake, ... To me he is a complex figure. Last night I saw this video of biggest grossing artists of the past 50 years and Drake made a whole chunk of money in his day, still lasting these days. But he has already made quite a run. In sales he has been almost as big as Rihanna, Eminem, Celine Dion, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin (artist like the Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson exceed this).  So this is just saying that he is a major cultural influence, mainstream.
Yet mainstream doesn’t necessarily mean stupid or shallow or inauthentic. Maybe these major cultural figures are per definition authentic, otherwise they wouldn't be as successful.
But still when you operate on this level you are being simplified all the time, and maybe big artists need to go along with this to make it that far and make so much money.
And this dichotomy (authentic vs. stupification) is where Drake lives. He is always assuming people won’t understand him and will simplify his message (and his love). A real angst. Still he rises against this, by making music that is really popular. Some kind of moody, sad reggaeton/hip hop hybrid.
He has so many good songs expressing love, self-love, disappointment, self disappointment, small sentences that creep beneath your skin (”i got fake people showing fake love to me”), actually the technique of his lyricism is not that separate from Morrissey, or so.
Why did I choose this song, no particular reason except its banging hard. There are so many subtle lovely songs in his songbook. This is just the latest.

This music is wonderful. Classic sounding techno tones, but never quite comparable to classic techno. This is like Aphex Twin on a limited budget in third rate resort in Eastern Europe, but not quite. It is definitely it’s own thing. The vacation resort is in Holland, freethinking and progressive Holland. This makes you think about what quality is and how it is achieved.
The video is superb! Makes me yearn for a past I never had. When things would’ve been simpler. Ugly and simple, yet beautiful.

So I’m catching up here.
This is a rework of a recent Sakamoto track. The first of the ‘Async’ album. Somewhere on youtube Sakamoto talks about the title in Japanese interview show. He explains how in life sounds really aren't in sync with each other. In this respect I rather like it how two incompatible sounds (rhythms) coexist, one soothing, nicely paced, and the other electronically harsh and mock heroic.
Just like in life you have to make the pieces fit together. Although oftentimes this is extremely difficult

(Pampa Records)
For me this is great art. It is like 10 minutes in the desert. This is the second track of Koze’s Pampa record. A really lovely song by Roman Flugel gets stretched in this absurd seeming way. Can music be so easy?!  The answer is obviously yes. It doesn’t take much to influence a human mind. All you need, is 6 and a half minutes, on average it takes less.
The clunky hypnotising beat takes you to such far away places. I guess, first irritation, maybe then indifference, then revery, then bliss, then blissful forgetfulness. These are just the techniques.
When you venture into narrative of the piece, we are only guided by it’s suggestive title, ‘9 years’. 9 years is a really long time. I see this track as a sort of metaphor for living nine years, or going through a relationship for 9 years. The song starts out rather harsh, but gets mellowed out by the end.

This song is obviously a classic. It has had great cover versions by Prince and James Blake.
Today I am choosing this version by Joni herself. I love the low unshaken voice, like accepting doubt as a condition of life. And the strings are slowpaced and accurate as hell.
It is very soothing so great for working.
