Most girls here take a picture of themselves in front of a pretty brick wall. Me? Well...I like to pose in front of some moss and rub some dirt on my face for fun 😂......Anywho.... ⁣ ⁣ • This is a reminder to everyone that “your best” doesn’t mean pushing yourself to your breaking point. “Your best” means the best you can do while being the best you. Get enough sleep, give yourself breaks, listen to your limits. “Your best” is better when you’re happy and healthy. ❤️⁣ ⁣ • I don’t know about you but this completely rings true for me. Starting my last semester of school a couple weeks ago, I’ve already had some highs and some lows. I am super excited and grateful for all of the amazing opportunities that might be around the corner in this season of my life. But I am also super anxious, and my anxiety is an everyday battle for me. Right now I could choose to let my anxiety win and stare at my computer all night relooking at all my notes for class when I have already completed everything on my agenda. (Because I always feel like I’m not doing enough). Or I can choose to close my laptop and relax. If any of you were feeling anxious at some point today, recognize it take some deep breaths and relax. Day 6/21: Throwing it back to that time we did goat yoga on the mountains. If your not into the “gym life” then don’t go to the gym! Join a yoga studio, cycle group, running club WHATEVER ya want! You know why? Because we’re not going to live forever but we do want to live our best life. And to do that we need to be healthy and HAPPY! If your miserable going to the gym then join something you prefer doing. Day 5/21: Weightlifting will not make you bulky! I have been weightlifting for 4 years now and it has been a slow and long process to put on some muscle. 💪🏼 Women produce less testosterone then men. Day 4/21: Leg Day!!!! I love leg days because that’s where I feel my strongest and I just love leaving the gym knowing I had a great workout. Day 3/21: Today I remembered how important it is to listen to your body. All I wanted to do was go on a run with one of my besties, and that’s what I did! I could have forced myself to go to the gym, lift weights, and just do something I didn’t feel like doing today. But I didn’t because there is a fine line of being dedicated to forcing yourself when your body is really telling you no. Often people usually combine the word “health” with the word “wellness”, and use them in conjunction with each other. Even though most people would like to think that these two concepts are the same, they actually have entirely different meanings. But you can't really have one without the other. What Exactly is Wellness? Where most people would define wellness as health related, it's more about the attitude you have towards the way you live. Wellness is actually defined as “a positive approach to living. What is Health? Other than wellness, health encompasses a broad spectrum. “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” According to this definition, wellness has a direct influence on your overall health, which is essential if you are trying to live a better life. Health and wellness may be different concepts, but you can’t have one without the other if you want to be healthy and happy. Before setting your own goals for health, think about what you really want out of your new transformation. Why are you losing weight? Are you doing it for yourself, or are you trying to please others? Is this a short-term goal, or a long-term goal? Most people think that achieving a set number on the scale means they are healthy, but as we mentioned before, you can’t have health without first achieving wellness. Took this on the first day we arrived in Utah. We were about an hour away from our new home and driving past a lake I saw a great picture opportunity. So glad we stopped and took it because this is one of our favorite pictures now. Not only is it beautiful, but it represents our first challenge as a married couple. Driving cross country, living together, and just trying to survive without the comfort of family around. It wasn’t always easy, but I really feel like it was a necessary step we needed to take. If anyone out there is thinking about traveling but afraid of leaving the comfort of family and friends, just do it. It’s scary but completely worth it. We met so many amazing people who we are so thankful for. A tip that I have been living by for the past couple of years while in college, is to make time for myself during finals week! This even goes for the people who aren’t in finals but know they have a busy, and stressful week coming up. When I take 1-2 hours out of the week to do something fun outside, I instantly feel more happy, have less anxiety, and I’m able to concentrate on my work and be more productive. Some years I’ve paddle-boarded, hiked, or went on a run in a new location. This year I decided to do goga (yoga with goats) and OMG I had so much fun! 😍 If you do want to do something like this of course make sure it’s at a humane place, where they treat their animals amazingly. Thank you @gogaguys for this amazing experience! We can’t wait to go back 🐐 ps: I understand my form on these poses are bad, but it’s hard to adjust, while taking pictures, with a baby goat jumping on ya. Do you like Mondays? I would love to say that I’m always jumping out of bed ready to crush the week, but that would be a lie. Some weeks I’m so pumped, ready to go through that routine that I love. Other times, I’m sliding under my covers feeling anxious about all of the things I need to get done. 😥 On days like that I just remember to do one thing at a time, and to not put any PRESSURE on myself. • 3x12 • I like to start some glute workouts with kneeling squats. This (odd) variation of squats actually gives you the highest glute muscle activation – around 60% or more versus less than 40% glute activation for traditional full squats •This exercise is not the best for building glutes in size (try hip thrusts for that) they are great for learning muscle activation and helping to keep your glute muscles firing properly. I suffer from major anxiety. • There are nights where I get up and have a panic attack without any warning, and without any specific reason. It’s scary, upsetting, and makes me feel like I’m not in control of my own body. •Why does this happen? Well, it happens when I do to much without stoping. It happens when I spend all day hustling and realize at the end of the night I haven’t taken a moment for myself that day. I love planning for my future, hustling with my side gig, and studying for classes that I love. But if I don’t take care of myself, then I break. I go to the gym but it doesn’t always fix my anxiety because I go from sitting in a classroom, to a box of sweaty people. I feel stuck. And sometimes it makes me feel worse. Don’t get me wrong I love the gym, but on days when my anxiety is high, and feel an attack creeping up, I need to just get outside. I need to breath in fresh air. And I need to just escape into nature. • Why am I sharing this? Why am I being so vulnerable? • • I’m sharing because I know I’m not alone. I know there are people out there who are going through the same thing as me. And I don’t want people to think that I don’t struggle just because they see nice pictures on this platform. Sometimes we all need to be okay with not always being okay.
