I promise I’ll get the hang of drawing these two one day. I just can’t stick with a way of drawing them. L + ratio me, or whatever. Also, please for the love of god, ignore my anatomical errors. I did most of this in a day or two and then came back to it weeks later realizing it didn’t look great but I had to say “fuck it, we ball.”

I have been playing the Quarry loaaads so i figured i’s try my hand at the werewolf designs :-)

I like that the werewolves aren’t your traditional hairy wolf-men but are more like uncanny skin-goblins lol. more realistic portrayal. i like that you can identify characters by looking at the different face structures on the werewolves too !

Okay, so, I have this headcanon that Dylan is stellar at skating because he’s been doing it since he was little.

Story: After the events of the game, and a good bit of time, Dylan decided to bust out the ol’ skates and invite the gang along. They might be off screen at a picnic because no one wanted to fall flat on their ass, or Jacob was actually the only one who was available/wanted to hang. Jacob has never skated in his whole life, but Dylan brought a pair of his old skates and they fit too well for him to not try(also helps that Jacob has no problem making a fool of himself for other’s amusement). Long story short, Jacob gets incredibly flustered as Dylan deftly guides and instructs him on skating.

…I might have to write a fanfic about this…

What I love the most about the Quarry is that while everyone else is in a creature feature/slasher 80s horror movie, Eliza is stuck in this tragedy, forced to take the role of the audience. The most she can do is offer suggestions and manipulate us into killing the Hacketts but even then she and Silas are at the mercy of the player’s decisions.

OUUGH.. thats seriously so fucked... and like.. as youve said, the player doesn't even need to follow her suggestions. or even. SEE those suggestions. bc you're on your own if you can't find any of the tarot cards. you can go the whole game absolutely clueless

and i find that even eliza herself being at the mercy of the player interesting... although the hierophant card vision isnt always programmed into a playthrough, how eliza is killed is entirely up to you.. and that sso just....

i never thought abt this before, the whole game like. surrounding 2 characters whose fates are pretty much sealed the moment you press play. and like.. no matter what you do there is no "good" ending. eliza is always killed. and if you choose to spare silas, one or two or even ALL three characters who will have confronted him willl be killed. and even if he is spared, hes still gonna be hunted for the rest of his life right? there seriously is no good ending for either character, despite having the whole game pretty much revolve around them

I just wanna talk about Laura and Max for a second. In almost all the mainline Supermassive games (Little Hope being kiiind of an exception?) they have a motif of starting you out in the past, playing out a scene of inevitable tragedy with a couple of characters who act as sacrificial lambs. Nothing you do can save them. It acts to set the tone for each game, make new players feel like their choices have consequences, and now to string all the games together along with other stylistic similarities - like a narrative makers mark.

So when Max and Laura show up in the opening scene, encounter spooky ghosts, and get mauled by a monster in the basement, you don’t really think twice about it. They are the sacrificial lambs of The Quarry, they encounter the truth before our real protagonists do and are made to pay for it. As a result, when the game reveals suddenly that they’re still alive, that they have been this entire time, that you’ll even get to play as Laura again (that Max section totally doesn’t count), it takes on this brand new quality of redemption. They’re Schrodinger’s lambs now, both slaughtered by the narrative and also active in the course that the rest of the story will take. You’re given one last chance. Depending on your choices, you can still save them… but by default they’re already doomed, both bitten by the time they return. They’re like Orpheus and Eurydice on the brink of escaping the underworld. One last trial, one long night, and maybe, just maybe… they can conquer death.
