Hey autism tumblr!

I’ve got a question- for a (very) long time in my life (about 7 years) I’ve been thinking I might be on the spectrum. I’ve done TONS of research and I think I relate to everything/most of the things I’ve read online and in books.

I’ve done several online tests (I know these are not SUPER reliable when administered solo) and they’ve all scored pretty high on the “you might be on the spectrum” scale.

I’ve always been very different from my peers and since I was small my friends / teachers noticed, which often caused me to be very alienated. Aside from this, all my close friends / people I imideatley get along with are on the spectrum and I’ve always felt…. I guess seen by them.

Currently, I’m debating getting tested as I’m not sure how the outcome would affect my life from a financial POV (country I live in has some weird laws about insurance for people with certain health conditions). My therapist and academic councillor think I may be on the spectrum but both have told me to seek help externally with a qualified doctor for this type of stuff. I’ve also recently been diagnosed with severe anxiety and sensory issues- the anxiety is not new knowledge but the sensory issues was a bit though in hind sight it perhaps shouldn’t have been.

Should I be able to consider myself autistic as all things point to this and some doctors (although not qualified to administer tests) agree with this ?

Also, are there any good resources I should look into? The sensory issues got diagnosed thanks to me starting to use headphones randomly and feeling …. Ok with the world (was not allowed to use them but idc anymore lol) and I’m wondering if perhaps there are other ways I could make navigating this world easier for me that I do not know of yet.

Today! I found out profs ACTUALLY talk about students. Like, they KNOW. I had one prof know I’m working in the department this summer (I did NOT tell him) and he was like :) I know you’re working for us!

Ya boi got dat interview RIZZ now tell me why I’m panicking over choosing 3 internships… I mean; two are excellent bc I’ve wanted to work in that field (theory) for a long time, however the new girl in the block (nano photonics) kinda making me doubt myself…. Why are summer coops so hard to apply to? The deadlines are always announced late (at least for me/my school). They also NEVER like my cover letters…. Horrible truly.

Anyways. How do you choose what coop to do? I fr love all of physics and therefore CANNOT choose.
