writing is all about meticulously studying reality to create in depth and realistic fantasy worlds only to ignore all of it in favor of the plot

The funniest part about that scene from Avatar where the Gaang found a secret box in Hama’s house is the fact that Toph had to know Hama was there the whole time.

Like, Toph’s seismic sense reaches out pretty far, so she had to know exactly where Hama was, when she entered the house, and that she was right behind them, and she did nothing to warn her friends.  Instead, she chose to break open the box knowing full well they would get caught.

being a writer is channeling all of your homicidal rage at society on to your fictional characters and calling it creativity

intrusive thoughts are fine until they get sticky

its one thing to have a random thought about driving on the wrong side of the road and causing a huge accident

its another thing entirely when your body reacts to those thoughts as if they actually happened

then you’re just sitting there in a state of panic over nothing and feeling like an over dramatic idiot

i just saw someone describe a disabled person as "someone with beautiful abilities" i cannot do this anymore

I think another good thing I came to realize was that, in therapy, "acceptance" doesn't mean that something is okay or good. To accept a situation or emotion means to understand that any amount of wishing it didnt happen, pretending it isn't happening, or regressing into maladaptive coping mechanisms will not effectively deal with what's going on. To accept is to acknowledge, to understand what is happening or what you're feeling and cope appropriately and healthily without self-judgement.

things we really have to stop:

using fat people to illustrate greed

using thin people to define health and happiness

using fat people to depict illness and sadness

moralizing health

bringing up a fat person’s health at all

using fatsuits

the use of headless fat people in news reels

using fat as an insult

thin people jumping in on conversations about the lived experiences of fat people and making it about them

the idea that a fat person who is in comfortable clothing is “sloppy”

basically, treating fat people any differently than a thin person

god I love the people behind the umbrella academy so much because when Elliot came out he said he'd still be down to be Vanya but the creators were like "um we have a floating dimensional box named Christopher, we can give you one better, here's ✨VIKTOR Hargreeves✨" and I think that's really beautiful
