theres this awkward disconnect when well meaning whites use genders from other cultures as an argument for respecting nonbinary ppl.
like if you are saying “other cultures have these 3rd genders so thats evidence nonbinary is real thing” that doesnt really work because those genders arent nonbinary, they exist out of the context of the western gender binary, theyre part of a different system of genders. cant be nonbinary if theres no binary to begin with.
but if you are using this as an argument for “the gender binary is a western construct thats been pushed on other cultures and also is completely arbitrary and thats why you should respect nonbinary people” then THAT is a prfectly sound arugment..

Just got the binder I was going to wear to exercise wearing and it's smaller than my original one. Guess I'm doubling down and now this one is my everyday binder and the other is to exercise with.

Sometimes I just wish I was born into the alternate universe where post-Civil War Reconstruction had been put into place effectively and immediately, and the generations of queer individuals did not either have to closet themselves or die out due to government mismanagement and social stigma.
Where would the world be, I want to know, if Plessy V Ferguson went the other way, if the original Civil Right Acts of 1864 had passed, if treasonous Confederate leaders had had their voting rights stripped away permanently. If the 13th Amendment didn’t cause the rise of racially based privatized incarceration. If W.E.B DuBois’ Talented Ten had flourished as planned.
If historical erasure hadn’t destroyed evidence of centuries of queer history and 2+ generations of the LGBT community hadn’t been systematically left for dead by an uncaring and sexist upper class.
How easy it would be to be me.
What a Wonderful World.
