Thinking about that series on TikTok where canon batfamily characters meet their fanon counterparts and I think all canon characters would have a sort of disdain to borderline hate for their fanon versions EXCEPT BRUCE. Canon Bruce would be seething with jealousy
Canon Bruce: so you’re saying… most of them live with you. In Wayne manor. And it’s not burned down every week.
Fanon Bruce: yup! All of them except Jason, he and I don’t get along very well you see… he’s always angry with me so the weekly family dinners are always tense ://
Canon Bruce, through gritted teeth: you see him regularly? Must be nice.
Fanon Bruce: it is! The kids can get a bit rambunctious at times but thankfully their older brother Dick is always there being the good responsible mentally stable older brother he is so there’s not much damage except the broken vase or two
Canon Bruce, glaring daggers: is that so.
Fanon Bruce: there’s also Tim, he can’t get enough of his coffee, sometimes I have to replace it with decaf just to get him to sleep!
Canon Bruce, who has found Tim napping in places he didn’t think was humanely possible to sleep in: hnn

Fandom likes knocking up Bruce Wayne's partners and naming his daughter 'Martha'.
This is a good name purely because it inflicts psychic trauma, but when you consider that Martha was the biblical sister of Lazarus, it becomes statospherically, stupidly excellent.
#bruce wayne#it's a private joke and Damian's not amused#probably only funny to me but idc; there should be more puns/private jokes in the fandom

Excellent post.
Meta often capitalizes on the same subset of panels from Batman (1940) # 422 and 424-425. While these are important to Jason's story, I wish more writers drew from preceeding and and surrounding events.
Jason was exposed to escalating violence pre- and post-Crisis. Any misstep resulted in severe injury (i.e., Detective Comics (1937) #574, where Jason is shot while taking on the Mad Hatter). At the extreme, Batman: The Cult was contemporary to A Death in the Family. His purported 'recklessness'wasn't wholly a byproduct of his youth. Neither was his violence. He was placed in life-or-death circumstances that required immediate, certain reactivity, and these methods were at one point condoned by Bruce. Then add on more pre-Crisis events:
Jason losing another mother figure via Natalia Knight.
Jason's jealousy and insecurity of Selina Kyle and Julia Pennyworth.
Jason stopping Bruce from killing the Joker.
Even post-Crisis, where the last scene of Batman (1940) #422, where Bruce admits he wishes he could "hold [himself] above the law" like Judy Kloslosky:
Questions of 'noble violence' and loss and 'why me? why not me?' would be a fantastic follow-up to UtH. There's so much fucked-up, angsty potential, and it's far more interesting and relevant than DC's forced integration/gelding of Jason's character.
Detective #534
I think about this scene so fucking much.
Jason here is clearly disgusted with himself for what he was willing to do, with what he could be pushed to do because of his fear of being alone again.
I've said before that a large part of why Pre-Crisis Jason pushes so hard to be Batman's partner is motivated by that aforementioned fear. Jason's parents died while he wasn't around and he was powerless to do anything about it because he didn't know, and he wasn't there. Bruce puts himself at risk every night to fight crime, and even if he's managed for as long as he has already, Jason can't shake the fear of losing another parent while he's not around to even try to help.
A similar but different vein of this fear is those parallels in my other post between Jason and Vicki Vale, who is constantly stood up and abandoned in the middle of dates. Her leaving the country because she's upset about Bruce's treatment of her happens at the same time Jason runs away because he's upset about being denied Batman's partnership.
And then he gets it, and all of this happens during his "test run," so to speak. He hears they have to take the gloves off and handle the situation with extreme measures... and he does.
And Bruce validates the thing he's disgusted with himself about. Says it wasn't cruel because it had a noble purpose. That anything was worth it because it saved Bruce's life.
Can you FUCKING IMAGINE if this conversation happened to some fashion in Post Crisis? Can you IMAGINE the implications that would have re: Jason's death and and Joker being alive and Red Hood's methods? Imagine him throwing this in Bruce's face. Telling him he took the gloves off, spitting that his actions are only bordered on cruelty because they're for a noble purpose?
#Jason Todd#Destabilization is a driving force. Purported 'pit madness' just removes his agency.#excuse me while I go fic hunting

Hey if the Lazarus Pit can cure brain cancer which apparently Hush "greatest surgeon in the world" wasn't able to fix, (he diagnosed Riddler as Terminal) how the FUCK is Hush supposedly able to fix Jason's "severe brain trauma" that the LAZARUS PIT couldn't fix????
