Do not think for a moment that this admin is only going after trans folks. They are ultimately going after the whole LGBTQ community. They start small, like getting rid of a hotline option, then go BIG.

Day 20 - The Two Ladies in "Luca "

This one is a bit of a stretch but hear me out. The first time I saw Luca it felt VERY queer coded to me. A character is told by his parents that he must suppress and hide himself and if he doesn't conform he will be "sent away." He finds joy and freedom when he embraces this world he discovers along with his friend. At the end when their secret is discovered, two women (Disney says their names are Concetta and Pinuccia) who you have seen inseparable throughout the film reveal that they too have a secret and proudly reveal their true selves.

I'm not a fan of shipping children because they're children, but Luca and Alberto's love for each other, platonic or otherwise, is sweet to watch. However I WILL read in between the lines for these two ladies. Disney's wiki says they're sisters but I don't buy it. The themes in this film resonate too much with the queer experience for this to be a coincidental parallel. That's my interpretation anyway! What was yours?

Here’s are a few examples:

💋 Before the 2003 Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, same-smex smexual activity was illegal in fourteen U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. military

👶 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t adopt in all 50 states. Before the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, laws varied wildly by state.

🏳️‍🌈 Before 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosmexuality as a ‘mental illness.’ In December 1973, a vote was successfully held to remove it.

🗳️ Before 1974, there were no openly gay elected officials. That changed with Kathy Kozachenko, who became the first openly gay American elected to public office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

🎖️ Before 2011, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” banned LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the military.

💍 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t get married in all 50 states. At the time, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard.

💼 Before 2020, employers could legally discriminate against queer and trans employees. It wasn’t until the U.S. Supreme Court held that an employer who fires or otherwise discriminates against an individual simply for being gay or transgender is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

These two had amazing chemistry and the studio went out of their way to say "no homo bro!" by giving them female love interests who were basically girl versions of them (think Mickey and Minnie). So disappointing 😩
