brat zine is up in my shop now! or at least it has been for the last month but i never posted about it 🤷‍♂️

Boy Princess is a comic I drew last summer about my experience with femininity and fashion (specifically EGL fashion) as a trans guy.

This comic is really special to me, I drew it while attending a workshop on Graphic Memoir comics taught by Mel Gillman at the Center for Cartoon Studies. I don't think I would've been able to make this comic if it weren't for the week-long workshop, and I wouldn't have been able to attend that without the help of CCS' BIPOC Scholarship.

To be frank, if I'd attempted to draw this comic on my own time, I probably would've A) Never finished it or B) Taken a hundred times longer to make it. Even with that, although I planned, drew, and inked this comic within one week, it's still taken me almost one year to edit, color, and format for print as well as design the cover, write transcripts of the pages (which by the way, if anyone has any feedback on what I could improve in my writing please tell me!!!), and write posts for social media.

Why'd it take so long? Because of life I guess! I'm not very good at sharing the work in process either, I'd rather post something when it's completely finished. Maybe I'll get better about that in the future, or maybe I'll just keep posting every 6 months. Either way I'm proud of myself for making this comic, and I'm eternally grateful for the supportive feedback from loved ones as well as instructors and classmates from the workshop!!!

I have copies of Boy Princess available for sale in my shop (as well as copies of Candlebot Comics #1, which has around 30 comics in it, wowza!) I hope you'll consider buying a copy and I hope you enjoy reading it :)

Hello I am alive and doing some stuff. Printing books has been a trial and error process (full of many many errors), but I'm pretty happy with the results. The covers for 'Boy Princess' are risograph (printed at Paper Press Punch) and it'll be exciting to share this comic I made like 9 months ago✌🏼

Hello! I'm Enrique and I'm a 30 year old comic artist from South Texas (currently living in Washington state). Some quick notes about myself:

I'm a trans man and use he/him pronouns.

I post art very infrequently!! This is something I'm working on, but because of adhd, limited time/energy, chronic pain, etc. I post things at my own pace.

I have 2 cats named Maxwell and Honey Lemon and I LOVE THEM!!!

Current Projects-

I've spent the last year reposting Candlebot Comics, a comic strip I drew for my college's newspaper from 2013 to 2016 (which you can read in its entirety on my website!) Currently working on getting printed copies to sell in my shop and at conventions.

I have a 5-page minicomic about ~gender~ that I’m working on at the moment. I’ll try to share wips if I can!

10/29/23 update: I currently have most of my minicomic ready for print!! I'm working on a final cover design and am hoping to have them risograph printed locally while I print the interior pages at home. I'm postponing printing Candlebot Comics as I originally intended it (An ambitious 32 pages that I tried printing at home. It did not work out.). I want to instead try to collect them into some mini zines with some other comic strips I've made.)

Past Projects-

I drew a minicomic called Wrong Order that you can read on my website. It’s a story of fast food and desperation.

You can also read Fall of the Starcatcher, a minicomic I drew for my partner and I’s wedding anniversary about an alien’s quest to catch a shooting star.

More diary comics! When I started making these I was struggling to figure out what to draw since my days all felt the same. I looked at Lynda Barry's comic diary format and that helped get the little gears in my brain turning.
