MM’s Circe wasn’t perfectly, but I think it took the telegony and did pretty good for what it had to work with. It ofc had other flaws though.
“The telegony isn’t real”
“It’s basically just fanfiction”
“Circe didn’t marry Telemachus”
“It wasn’t confirmed by Homer so it doesn’t count”
Okay I’m so confused and wish to have a good faith discussion. Is Homer really the end all be all to all things related to the odyssey/telegony?
Like, the myths surrounding Odysseus and his family existed well before Homer, with their own multiple endings and interpretations, and he just wrote his own version down, right?
And even if it doesn’t line up with Homer’s continuity, is it still not valid mythology? I honestly don’t understand why it wouldn’t be. -mod note.

If you look further into the mythology even more (which feel free to take a grain of salt in) he had even more children with more repetitive names. I dare you to google “who are all of ody’s children?”

I think Madeline Miller’s “Circe” did Telegonus justice! The only downside is his page time is kinda brief because it was toward the end but it’ll have to do due. I’ve never seen any other adaptations of telegony to judge.

Ctimene waiting on her husband to come back and getting the heart breaking news that he’ll never come from her brother is my Roman Empire.
Idk what their religion’s after life would have been like but I hope it was possible for them to reunite in death, within the story itself 😭💔
I’m gonna throw in a helpol tag in case anyone has insight ok

Circe x Telemachus high key has my heart because of how ridiculously wild it is 😭👌
Ody’s dumb ass kid and hot witch circe, aight.
Penelope and Telegonus happening AT THE SAME TIME is wild though because…does that make everyone double related? Idk. But I have a strong stomach so it’s alright I suppose.

That’s hair. I kindaaaa like the telegony? Just for how wild and hokey it is. It’s strangely funny.

Honestly the dubious consent relationships that relate to the Telegony are so fascinating to me in of itself. Because it’s just so wild and I don’t think I’ve heard of stuff like this outside of Greek mythology that I’m just like—“huh, intriguing. “
