Share us your stories!
Millions of us are struggling with PKD, whether it’s your close families or friends, we’re here to listen and help each other through difficult times. I encourage everyone to share their stories with us and know that you’re not alone in this.
Tell us whatever is on your mind, even the bad ones. Frustration. Anger. Tell us your nutrition or exercise habits. Or the simple joys in life you experienced that makes the day better.
Looking forward to them!

Exercise Tips
In order to maintain a healthy body, it’s good to exercise. Exercising works to decrease blood pressure and stress. This also helps with developing muscle strength, heart function, and stamina along with enhancing a sense of well-being. With a healthy body, you will do better on dialysis and with a transplant if physically fit.
An example is my father who has been exercising ever since he found out he had PKD. I never once saw him not exercise while he rode his indoor bike every day for an amount of time.
There's not any exercising regime that is deemed the best. Mostly what you're generally comfortable with. It's recommended not to cause any pain or impact around the kidney area so contact sports involving the kidneys being traumatized should be avoided. It is best to do some walking, swimming, and biking.
For children, there's no information about limiting physical activity but it's possible that children with large kidneys and/or large cysts have more episodes of blood in their urine if they play any contact sports.
What exercises do you do daily to keep healthy?

everyone, meet jaelyn! jaelyn is a cheerleader on my gym’s mini level 2 team. jaelyn was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease when she was only a  baby, but it has never stopped her! jaelyn is constantly working as hard as she can to better her flexibility, tumbling, and jumps! jaelyn may only be 7 but she is my biggest inspiration. every time i see this little girl on the floor, she reminds me how blessed i am to be a cheerleader. she’s in need of a double kidney transplant but she just wants it done and over with so she can get back on the floor. we love you jaelyn!
