Mission gone wrong
1,452 words
The mission was supposed to be simple.
You and Gaz had gone on countless undercover missions before, but for some reason, this one felt different. The mission was to infiltrate a large party an arms dealer was throwing in his very large home, wanting to show off his riches and strike deals with possible business partners. It was going to be a simple and easy mission for both soldiers - or so they thought.
The mission was supposed to be easy in and out - find the arms dealer, chat him up, gain his trust, and leave. All they really had to do was gain the target's trust to make further connections and gain intel so they could take down the trading ring the target had set up.
After hours of planning and preparing for the mission, you and Gaz pulled up in the sports car Captian Price had somehow gotten them for their appearance at the party, marking their 'status' (or their facade, you could call it.) they had in the arms dealing business.
After a few moments of gathering their things in the car and making sure all of their gear was working, they stepped out of the sports car and started walking up to the large house. You interlock your arm with Gaz's and put on your act, walking with confidence and keeping your head up - hyper-aware of your surroundings but looking like it was no big deal.
This was natural for you and Gaz, you two had gone on plenty of undercover missions before. The task force trusted both of you to be able to silently communicate and work together without having to speak of both of your plans due to your close nature. You and Gaz always finished the mission quickly and successfully... until today.
..............
Both you and Gaz were speaking to some of the other guests, making their act believable to the other criminals around them. It's not like you could just go up the the target (The wealthiest and most dangerous arms dealer around) and ask him to do business without setting up a good image for yourselves.
As they spoke to the other guests, some things felt a bit off. You and Gaz could both feel it - You could feel everyone's eyes on you and your partner, it was almost like they knew who you were...
It was peculiar, to say the least. No one here should have known what they looked like. They had seen none of these men on the field, and they had never seen them in everyday life... so why were they looking at you like this?
You could do nothing about this - you could only continue conversing and hope that things would even out soon. After about thirty minutes of the odd conversations, You and Gaz excuse yourselves to the bar - but before you could even turn around, a gun was pulled on you both.
"Woah, Mate! What's that about?" Gaz questions calmly as he holds up his hands, showing he is not holding any sort of weapon, You did the same and stayed quiet, acting just as causal as Gaz as you let him do the talking as you knew he had more controlled emotions in this situation. You were quite good at keeping up your act, but Gaz had been doing this far longer than you, and he knew how to handle these situations without breaking a nervous sweat.
"Dont play dumb with me Garrick, I know what you are here for!" The man shouts and quickly brings his finger to the trigger.
Before the man's finger could pull the pistol's trigger, you act on pure instinct and push Gaz down to the ground just in time. The gun went off with a deafening bang and you both fled out of the mansion - you guiding Gaz to the nearest exit as you cursed yourself for not leaving sooner
The loud sound of gunfire behind you blares in your ears as the bullets pierce the walls around you and your sergeant.
The first gunshot caused a panic - now there were about ten people shooting their way. Luckily, they moved fast enough that there was no way the men could get a solid aim on you two.
"Shit! Take my hand!" You shouted as you quickly took a sharp right through an exit and reached out for Gaz's hand, needing him to stay close to you for this to all go according to the little plan you made in your head. Gaz just stayed as quiet as he could, giving you time to formulate the rest of your plan. There was a treeline just outside of the Mansion's courtyard that would give them a bit of cover as they fled. Gaz finally grasped onto your hand and you bolted towards the tree line, weaving through the trees with Gaz as several men ran out of the building and continued to shoot at you and Gaz.
After a couple minutes of running, you had finally left the treeline and ended up hidden in a dark alleyway - You were leaning up against a wall, trying to catch your breath as Gaz made the call for emergency exfil.
"I need emergency exfil immediately - mission went south, we need vehicle transport off of realty street. Currently hidden in the first back alley on the right."
Gaz speaks into his comms in between sharp breaths, trying to regain his air supply after all of the running.
After Gaz completes communications with Exfil, you slide down the wall and sit on the soiled concrete.
"There's a rat back at base... there has to be."
You say as you cradle your head in your hands, very frustrated and shocked that someone has infiltrated the 141. Gaz shakes his head in disappointment and sits down next to you, leaning his back up against the brick wall of the building behind them. Gaz was just as shocked, and he couldn't believe that someone would do this to them... hell, they almost just got killed! They were lucky that you both got out of the damned mansion without being shot!
"As soon as we get back to base we need to talk to Price - don't tell anyone other than him a word of what happened. We don't need news of a rat inside the task force going around base." Gaz replies as he looks down at the ground, removing his tux jacket after a moment and throwing it to the ground beside him, not caring if it got soiled in the process.
You nod your head as your emotions start to get to you.
The both of you have come far closer to death before... but this was hitting you hard.
There was someone back at base who set you up to be killed - probably only for a shitty paycheck. How couldn't you have known? How couldn't you have realized sooner? you knew that it would have been impossible to know beforehand, but it still hurt... it still felt like it was your fault for not picking up on it sooner.
Tears start pricking in the corner of your eyes as you cover your face with your hands, letting out a jagged sigh as you consider who the rat might be.
Gaz notices your emotions starting to bubble over, and he slowly shifts closer to you, now pressed up to the side of your hip.
"You know it's not your fault, right? You couldn't have known about this beforehand." It was like Gaz was reading your mind, knowing exactly what you were thinking.
"I had no clue they knew who we were, I just thought they were weary of outsiders." You knew Gaz was being logical, and his words made complete sense, but you were still frustrated and aggravated to no end.
Tears start flowing heavily down your cheeks as you let out little choked sobs.
Gaz lets out a sympathetic sigh and wraps his arms around your torso, pulling you close to him, trying to silently comfort you and reassure you that everything is going to be okay. He understood how you felt, and he wanted to soothe your pain.
He knew that even though his words were logical and true, they would never get passed your brain talking down to you.
Gaz continues to hold you close until your crying slows, one of his hands now running through your hair, wrapping his arm back around you after a moment.
"It's going to be okay... We are going to make it through this, yeah? We always do..."
Gaz lays his head on top of yours as he continues to hold you close.
"We are going to figure this out, I swear it." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Author's note! I hope you enjoyed this little story I made! I might continue it as a series if people take some liking to it.
This story took me an embarrassingly long time to make and it isn't even that good 😭
As always, If there is anything you would like to see in the future or anything you think I could improve on, let me know! I'm always open to new ideas and constructive criticism.
I also might do some ship content sometime soon, so keep an eye out for that!

Early Morning Struggles
An early start with Captain Price and gn! reader.
Fluff ❤️
It was early in the morning. It was so early - in fact - it was still dark outside. The sun still sat under the horizon, not yet ready to shine through the cheap blinds the military had provided in your Captian's private quarters.
Speaking of your Captian.... you were currently in his bed, sleeping peacefully while you curled up into his side, letting your Captian (and boyfriend) hold you while you slept together. After a few minutes of peaceful silence (Something that doesn't come often in your field of work), Their alarm clock blares the dreaded warning tone, alerting the two of you that you must get ready for the long day ahead of you.
You were the first to rise from slumber, groaning quietly as you stretch in Price's arms and shift to turn off the blaring noise of their alarm. After rubbing your eyes and running your hands through your hair, you feel John start to stir beside you - you must have woke him with your shifting about while trying to turn off the obnoxious sounding of the alarm clock.
You slowly shift back into Price's grasp and curl up to him, your eyes droopy. You were not yet willing to leave Price's embrace, but you knew that you would have to leave his embrace soon enough.
"Time to rise, Lovely."
You whisper out quietly as you rub Price's side with your hand. Price lets out a little annoyed grumble as he slowly starts to come to his senses, still not ready to be pulled out of sleep.
"Don't wanna get up..."
He grumbles back, his British accent thickened with the side effects of sleep.
"You have a meeting, remember? You have to get on with your morning a bit earlier than usual." You state before hearing Price mumble something you couldn't decipher in your post-sleep haze, pulling you close to him as he nuzzles into the crook of your neck. You chuckle at Price's antics, knowing that they were a futile effort to push off their daily duties.
"C'mon, we gotta get ready. You need to go get your workout in so you aren't cranky later."
Your lover was quite dedicated to his workout schedule and was often displeased if he didn't get to the base gym before everyone else. Price liked working out by himself, giving him time to think about the day ahead.
"I'll go later - can we please just stay in bed a little longer? Just a bit?"
Price says in his thick accent with a sleepy expression - and you simply couldn't say no to your lovely's request, could you? You smile soft and curl back up against Price. "Five more minutes..." You whisper quietly to your lover.
Price quickly fell back to sleep, and Nico followed in pursuit. What was only supposed to be five more minutes of cuddling turned out to be another hour of sleep.
Even though Price didn't get to go to the gym that morning, he was happy - he got to lay in bed with his beloved just a little longer...
the gym could wait.

Just a little drabble I made during school! This is the first time I have written something like this, so I hope it isn't too bad. If you have any tips for how to improve my writing, please let me know!

Phillip Graves Deep Dive
Forewarning
The playlist I have attached above goes along with these headcannons and my personal interpretation of Phillip's story and character. All of the headcannons are just headcannons. None of the following headcannons are canon to the actual storyline of Call of Duty MW2.
Trigger warnings for suicide, abuse, manipulation, religious topics, and death.
1. Introduction to the Show - Miracle Musical
Representative of the birth of Phillip Graves
Philip was born into a wealthy family, his father was a conservative politician, and his mother was a stay-at-home mother.
In all honesty, the only reason Phillip's parents had a child was for the public eye, trying to seem like a perfect little family for the press.
Philip's father pushed having a child onto his mother, and his mother felt an obligation to do what her husband told her.
Nine months later, Phillip Gaves was born into an abusive and unhealthy household.
2. Father - The Front Bottoms
In Phillip's early childhood, he was a very happy child despite the abusive nature of his father. This was until he realized that normal family's were not supposed to act like this, normal family's didn't hit and scream...
Once Phillip had developed an imagination, he often used it as an escape from his home. Away from his abusive father and his practically brainwashed mother. Even though Phillip was little - only around five years old - he would dream about leaving home.
Once Phillip expressed his feelings and his daydreams to his mother, she immediately told Phillip's father as soon as he arrived home from work. Phillip's father then beat him every time up until Phillip had mentioned anything about his imagination or anything about leaving home up until he was eighteen.
3. Think I'm Going To Kill Myself - Elton John
Once Phillip turned 16 he had finally had enough. He had enough of his abusive father, and his brainwashed mother who went along with everything his father muttered out of his lips... so he tried to commit suicide.
Thankfully, his attempt was unsuccessful. Phillip had tried to overdose in his room late at night, and thankfully, his mother found him before it had happened. Once his mother had found him passed out by a couple bottles of painkillers, she told Phillip's father. Phillip's father told her to not bother and to let him die, Phillips mother snapped out of her brainwashed haze and took Phillip to the hospital, It was the first time in years that his mother had disobeyed his fathers orders in years.
Eventually, Phillip had gotten sent to a mental hospital, staying there for a couple of months. The stay helped him mentally, but when he had told the resident therapist about his abuse, he didn't believe Phillip. After crying out for help about his family situation for a total of three months, Phillip was sent back home to his abusive father, and his mother was back in her brainwashed state.
4. Re-Do - Modern Baseball
After about a month of being back home with his parents, Philip turns seventeen, marking exactly one more year until he can leave his abusive household legally.
Even though Phillip was still heavily mentally ill, he pushed through every day, dreaming of finally moving out.
One day, when Phillip was walking home from school, he passed by a military recruiting station, specifically for the US Army. Phillip stopped and stared at the facility for a moment as the puzzle peices in his mind snapped together, and for the first time in his life he knew what he would do when he left his his family behind.
5. Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) - Billy Joel
The morning Phillip turned eighteen, he packed his things and practically ran to the Army recruitment center.
Phillip was overjoyed that he was finally going to be able to leave his abusive household. He was completely ready for everything and anything that would come his way while he was in the Army.
After getting recruited and staying in a hotel for a night or two, he was transported to his new job and home; the US Army.
6. Barracuda - Heart
As Phillip went through training and started going on small missions, he quickly started showing more and more potential. Phillip was quickly the most advanced soldier in his unit.
Phillip had quickly found his happy place: the training room. Every waking moment, he had free time he would train, whether it be solo or with a partner. The training gave him an outlet to let out his frustrations and anxieties.
For five whole years, Phillip improved every single day he trained. He completed missions left and right with ease, and eventually, a man by the name of Shepherd took notice of him...
7. Puttin' on the Ritz - Taco
After six months of communicating back and forth with Shepherd, Phillip was now one of the highest-ranking officers in the newest branch of special forces in the USA: Shadow Company.
Things seemed to be going very well for Phillip! He had felt like what he was doing actually meant something, and he felt like he was making important changes in the world.
Feeling like he was making a difference was great, but the money the job brought was even better, Phillip felt like a damn king!
8. Daddy Issues - The Neighborhood
Phillip obviously had a bad childhood. It was bad enough to still affect him to this day, and Shepherd helped... or so he thought.
Shepherd would ask Phillip for 'favors'... nothing that seemed too terrible at the time, just a college looking out for another, right?
All in all, the relationship was horrible for Philip and he started to realize that. Shepherd was using Graves and he knew it - but he knew he couldn't escape... he was too far in now.
9. You're Dead - Norma Tanega
After only being the CEO of Shadow Company for a few months, all of the stress was coming at Phillip in full force.
He knew fully well that the missions General Sheperd had been sending him and the shadows on were too dangerous for them to complete without losing many men and women.
The shadows were like Phillips family, and it hurt to see them get killed one by one...
10. Kiss Me, Son of God - We Might Be Giants
After another month or so, Phillip was going a bit mental.
He was tired of watching his shadows die by Shepherd's reckless missions, and it was really affecting him.
Kiss Me, Son of God is a very eccentric song that talks about a man who is praised for his 'contributions' and his 'selflessness' even though in all truth, he is actually ruining their lives.
This song represents Shepherd being the horrible man he is, not caring about how many lives are lost.
In turn, Phillip is becoming depressed and reckless, not caring much about his own life as he watches many around him die,
Shepherd's reign was causing him to fail.
11. Backstabber - Kesha
Shepherd had once again put them on a bullshit mission, this time it seemed doable... but he would have to betray the group he was working alongside. Shepherd was power-hungry, and it was clear.
Phillip didn't want to betray the men he was working alongside! The 141 was a group of amazing people who helped anyone they could, even if it was an inconvenience... But Phillip knew that he couldn't get out of this.
Phillip couldn't deny direct orders, Shepherd would surely kill him off if he didn't
11. Charlie's Inferno - That Handsome Devil
Phillip hates himself for betraying TF141.
He lays in bed at night not able to sleep, his betrayal and his past mistakes haunting him.
Have his good deeds outweighed the bad, or have the bad deeds outweighed the good?
Phillip thinks back to his upbringing and how they used to go to church every Sunday, not just to keep up family appearances, but to feed into his evangelical Christian beliefs.
Even though Phillip was never a religious person, he found himself lying awake at night thinking about life after death... what was waiting for him - paradise or fire?
12. Can't Decide - Scissor Sisters
Phillip was having a full-on crisis at this point.
Was he better off dead, Or was it too late for that? Even if he did die, where would he go?
All of the years of sitting through church services were finally getting to him... and it was hitting him hard.
After a few days, he had worked out his problems, pushing the worry into the back of his head as he busied himself with his next plan: faking his death.
13. Momento Mori: the most important thing in the world - Will Wood
Faking Phillip's death was going to be a hefty task... he needed to make his death believable and untraceable.
All of the plans he had come up with in his head all seemed like they would end up failing... until he got news of a certain task force that was trying to take back the base he had been forced to siege from the Varquero's.
From that moment on, Phillip spent any free time of his day planning his fake death - using a remote control tank with an intercom system inside... which would all be blown up if his plan went right.
And his plan had seemingly gone very well. Task force member Soap had bought the bait and had blown up the tank with C4, both 'killing' Phillip and destroying the evidence of his fake death.
The aftermath...
After Phillip faked his death, it had convinced both TF141 and Shepherd fully, Everyone was fully convinced that he was dead - except the Shadows. Phillip and the Shadows were still performing operations like usual, but they held up to their name and kept their work in the shadows. They worked independently - away from Shepherd and the rest of the command. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Author's Note
Wow... That took way longer than expected! This may not look like a lot of work, but it took me a couple months to finish. I kind of forgot about this whole post when I was halfway through with it, but I've been pushing to get it finished this past week.
