As an only child with no father, Dawn's relationship with her mother was very important. She looked up to her in everything she did and always cited her as a major source of inspiration in driving her success as a coordinator. Needless to say, Mother's Day was one of her favorite times of the year! She did not treat it like the secondary holiday many know it as. She considered it almost as important as Christmas! No matter what was going on in her personal life, her professional life, or anywhere else, she would be gone on Mother's Day.
The long day off was always treated with the utmost care and planning. There would be a private dinner, some coordinating practices, a family favorite movie, and endless discussions about life, memories, and friends. No one was allowed to intervine until Dawn had her own children. She made an exception for them.
The tradition stayed true for every year of her life, whether she was sick, tired, or busy. A bouquet of fresh roses on her mother's grave proved that not even death could take their special day. No need to worry.

Mother's Day was special for May because it meant more than just seeing her mother every year. Mother's Day was an honest excuse for everyone in the family to meet up again and act like they had never left. May would take a break from her tours and contests to head back to Petalburg for a few days. Norman would put the gym under someone else's supervision for a while. And Max would return from his travels one way or another. Each of them would always have the intention of spoiling Caroline, but she would turn the tables on them every time. The holiday became more of a family gathering than an appreciation day. Caroline could not ask for any greater gift.

Mother's Day was always depressing for Misty as a child. She barely remembered her own mother, and the holiday only brought bad experiences. She would be forced to sit through her sisters' usual tendencies, and it would remind her of what she never had.
Even as an adult with her own children, the troubling thoughts never left completely. Misty gained confidence through her relationship with Ash. She would help him get through Father's Day every year, and he would help her on Mother's Day in return. While neither was ever able to enjoy the holidays entirely, it served as a reminder that they now had a family that was always there for them.

[Apologies for being gone so long. I really let this blog die due to some personal issues, but I'm back up today. I will be bringing you a few Mother's Day related posts.]

Ash Ketchum accomplished many things during his lifetime. He defeated numerous skilled trainers and even legendary Pokémon in battle. He became the youngest Pokémon Master in history. He even saved the world more times than he could count. But his personal favorite accomplishment was being put on the Wooper-O's Breakfast Cereal box... Go figure.

Ash never grew past 5'10" (177.8 cm), making him just about the average height for a Kantonian male. However, Misty was only about an inch shorter than him (175.26), and she would consciously have to buy shorter high heels for when they attended formal events to prevent herself from passing him up in height.

[If you hate on Ash Ketchum, I honestly don't want to meet you because you'd probably hate on me too.]
Some Real Talk: Ash Ketchum Appreciation
There has been an upsurge in Ash hate over the past couple of days—a result, I think, of Pokémon going up on Netflix—so I’m going to just lay down some truths about Ash, and why he’s fantastic, and why people should stop hiding behind their fanon interpretation of Red and using that as a reason why Ash is inferior to him.
So. Real talk.

The Saffron City gym leader, Sabrina, originally only trained psychic Pokémon. It was not until Ash Ketchum gave her a Haunter that she started to develop an affinity for ghost types as well. In one generation, the gym's type specialty would change from psychic to ghost entirely.

When Professor Oak passed away, he left his lab, his house, and his ranch to Gary, along with a sizable portion of the equipment and furniture. However, Gary would ultimately give the property to Tracey Sketchit because of his stronger connection to the Pokémon and research being conducted there. By this time, Gary had already firmly established himself in Sinnoh anyway. It did not stop him from collecting a few mementos.

Throughout the course of her career, May’s paycheck took several serious cuts due to the large number of charity organizations she chose to sponsor. When asked if she would have done it again, May responded, “No. I would probably sponsor a few more.”

While both matured to a degree, Ash and Gary's rivalry never really ended. Ash would brag to Gary about being a Pokémon Master when the status got him invited to high class restaurants and resorts. Gary would brag to Ash about being a respected professor when it got him access to rarer Pokémon. Ash would brag to Gary about his eyesight when Gary had to get glasses first. Gary would brag to Ash about his family when his son was born first.
Their families sometimes had Christmas together. Misty called the first occasion "the busiest 'vacation' of her life."

Brock's over attentiveness toward girls started to die down during medical school. The courses were difficult and required exhausting amounts of study time. He was forced to train himself to ignore distractions and focus on work. Ironically, this more tempered demeanor eventually led to his first real relationship.

I'm curious, what are your posts based on? Personal headcanons/thoughts? Compiled from others, or just your own? They're entertaining either way. And thanks for the comment on my own, by the way! You're probably right, but one can dream lol.
[Hello, chosenone! And thank you for officially being the first person to formally recognize my little corner of the internet (my tags still don’t work yet, so no one knows I’m here -_-).
To answer your question, my posts are based on a variety of things. I have a small stockpile of them in my computer, and I plan to deal them out over time. With any luck, I will get more as time goes on. Some of them are based on personal headcanons. I’ve been deeply involved in the show since it began, so I like to think that I can make some educated guesses about the future. Other posts are based on headcanons that I have heard or read from others that I feel carry decent accuracy. And still other posts are based on really obscure facts, comments, interviews, books, etc related to the Pokémon anime. My overall goal is to create the most accurate representation of the anime’s future that I can, bit-by-bit. Feel free to check back on it every now and then! I hope you find it entertaining!
Lastly, I was more than happy to comment on your article! It was extensive, well thought out, understandable, and very informative. You did a great job of demonstrating how the animeverse is very different from the gameverse and separating Ash’s shortcomings from the writers’ shortcomings. The Pokémon anime has always been about catering to its demographic, marketing for the games, and giving a general feeling of young adventure, hope, and sportsmanship. Many people seem to forget that and blame Ash for what is really a metatextual issue. You explained the fallacy quite well.]

None of Ash and Misty's children ever learned to properly ride a bike until they left for their journeys, due to the fact that Pikachu fried nearly every bike he ever came into contact with.

Ash Ketchum finally defeated the Elite Four and became a Pokémon Master at the solid age of 20, officially making him the youngest trainer to ever receive the title. He got teased by many of his older friends and colleagues about the fact that he could not legally drink at the Celebration Banquet.

Top Coordinators May and Dawn never changed their last names to that of their husbands' because they both had already developed steady fan bases by the time they got married. It is easier to maintain fans if you stick with a name that they already recognize. Neither of their spouses had a problem with this.
