Something I generally don’t see a lot of people speak about is pony going through grief and becoming tough. I swear it makes me want to die because why don’t people talk about it enough.

The parallel from the start of the book to the end is honestly insane. Dally and Johnnys deaths really affected him and I feel like he was just scared and hurt. All of that grief turned to anger towards the soc. At the start of the book he states he could never actually harm anybody with the broken bottle two bit gave him but then here you have him breaking a bottle and threatening multible soc. It breaks my heart hearing how he walked around for hours after and was in such a bad state after. I mean he couldn’t remember any of the days prior to him blacking out, and he swore everything tasted like bologna, so he wouldn’t eat. He kept calling out for his mom, and dad, and soda, and Darry. God when I read that it made my heart ache so badly. He started failing and couldn’t use his head, he ran into stuff, and started getting bad at writing. It’s so weird to think about that greif can really affect someone that bad… I don’t know i just wish people talked about it way more than it is.

Steve Headcanons: (views of the gang)

I feel like Steve would relate to Johnny a lot in the home life sense because they’re both from bad homes. Sure they probably don’t hang out as much as him and Dallas or him and Pony but they could’ve probably had good conversations especially about their parents and what home is like. Also I feel like Steve would talk about cars to Johnny, and Johnny would actually be pretty interested to know about it. He also seen him as a little brother often wanting to get him out of his home life.

Steve Dosent hate ponyboy, yes he sees him as a tag along a lot and pokes fun at him but he would actually not like HATE him. He often wonders and is interested about pony but would never admit it because he knows Pony Doesn’t like him. But he sees him in sorta an older brother and annoying little sibling sort a view. He sometimes sees Pony reading and wonders what the books about. Besides him bullying Pony once in a while he can have an actual conversation with him, but pony’s usually never too interested in talking to Steve that much which he understands.

He sees Pepsi cola as his bestest friend of course that’s obvious. But sometimes he compares himself to soda since they’re complete opposites. It’s never affected their friendship but sometimes makes him a bit sad. He loves soda though and they both have matching bracelets in their rooms they made for eachother when they were younger. They don’t wear them so they look more tuff but kept them.

He sees Two-Bit like a good friend also. He thinks he’s funny sometimes and they yap about Mickey and cars to each other. But also sometimes Two-Bit is a surprisingly good comforter seeing as how he Dosent like serious situations it’s hard to believe. They drink together often and mess with girls, also often stealing together when they’re out.

He likes Darry a lot, he sees him as an older brother figure or like a father figure sorta since he feeds him, and lends him a place to stay. He sees all of the Curtis brothers as siblings or very good friends. Darry usually has late night talks with him if they’re both up at the Curtis house late. Darry also cares for him and buys him stuff if he needs it. He sometimes imagines where he’d be if Darry never was there to help him out.

He’s good friends with Dallas they’re really good friends. After he died Steve was really affected and became very depressed in a way. Him and Dallas always cracked jokes or got into trouble when they were together. He has a lot of memories that he looks back on with Dallas that make him laugh.

Johnny and Dallas (I don’t really like how Dallas came out but wtv)

Bro no he wouldn’t 💔 everytime I see a video about that or someone saying that I genuinely get so upset and I feel like those cartoon characters when they turn red and steam comes from their ears and nose. I swear. (That’s obviously a joke)

Anyways here’s my reason why:

Throughout the book and movie you can see Johnny slightly recovering through it. He’s even able to face the group who jumped him multiple times and sure he is scared but still stands through it and stays with his friends not backing down. Secondly, he is seen looking at girls walking and making comments to the gang, so no he wouldn’t be ALL SWEET to women either, even if he did defend cherry from Dallas. Sure yes he would probably be one of the more respectful but not too great with women in my opinion. THIRD OF ALL, most of the greasers don’t take showers or have actual good hygiene for DAYS or more it’s kinda obvious they wouldn’t either tbh, they have barley any money, and are down at the poor side of Tulsa, they’re also known for being dirty, greasy, filthy, greasers who’s hair full of grease, and they smell like cigarettes and leather jackets. Greasers were also known for being Tough and independent but more open and emotional then the socs were FOURTH OF ALL he killed a socs and I know it was self defense and he was scared but that’s a good way to prove that he’s not a baby that “can’t do anything for himself, or defend himself depending on the gang.” He stabbed bob for trying to drown his friend and killed him. Then he hid the knife and made a plan to leave with pony so he wouldn’t be punished with the electric chair. The only people he really cared about were the gang and his parents or at least he cared if his parents cared about him. (Which they didn’t) but no he wasn’t a “I can’t fend for myself and I cry over everything baby” because it’s known that greasers don’t cry unless they really have too. The only times he’s shown crying is when he got jumped by the scoc and when pony and him were in the church. It was pretty obvious that since he’s like the other greasers he wouldn’t cry over everything or be too sensitive seeing as how his parents don’t care and beat him every time he does something. If I lived in those conditions I would hate to cry In front of others too. Especially if I had a rep of being a greaser.

I love it when people recognize that the greasers are all actually,,, disgusting boys sometimes even mature boring Darry. Like they may be handsome/cute, but they're still boys

Like they have cake for breakfast REGULARLY and do flips on cars and whoo at girls. Some of them don't even shower that often or constantly have grease all over their hands and have yellow tinted teeth

The greasers are gross immature boys and I'm standing by that 🙏
