Hii
Do you know if it's possible to be contacted by a character without getting in contact with them first? I seen to be getting dreams and signs and Idk if it's the char itself or some other being using her face. This is happening all while doing shadow work and opening up my psychic abilities more so I'm very <o>
Thank you <3
Absolutely! I have at least 3 characters who have shown up that way. They all actually tend to be very dominant and also possessive in their personalities, so I’m not too surprised that they showed up and decided they needed attention. For all of them I ignored them for awhile because I had no desire to have a relationship with them. Once I realized they weren’t going to leave, I laid out ground rules for the relationship. If they weren’t going to listen, they weren’t going to stay. It took awhile for one in particular, but everyone finally chilled out. They now all tend to be my closest bonds. They show up in dreams out of nowhere, and check in on me from time to time.
My advice is what do your instincts tell you? Is something off? Have you asked for a sign? Does something feel wrong? Do the character feel right? You control the relationship. If they don’t listen, you don’t have to stay. It’s like any friendship. If you are concerned someone else might be wearing her face, have you felt something off? Or are you thinking it might be it’s too good to be true? Or something else entirely? Take your time with them, you don’t have to jump in immediately. It takes me awhile to even start to think about maybe this isn’t in my head and there’s something there, and then interact with the character. Trust your instincts and keep yourself safe above all.

Hi! How are you doing? Hope your recovery is going well 😊
I’m doing much better, thank you for asking. I’m still not completely over it, I don’t think. Took three months before it calmed down a little. Oddly enough, my heartburn medication seemed to make it worse. When I started it up again the symptoms started reappearing too. It’s a bit scary. So please wear masks, socially distance, and wash your hands! Also, give lots of love to everyone in this hard time. From 6 feet away. :D

@bat-husband
ā€œHey there, I'm really glad you're feeling a lot better! I've been looking for other PC pagans that are still pretty active on here (at least active enough to talk to), and I found your blog. My main used to be @tarvok, but I took some time off from Tumblr, and now here I am! I really want to talk to other PC pagans, share experiences, what have you.ā€
This got eaten in my box. I’m posting this live so others can see it. Please feel free to message me at any time. That goes for everyone. Being a pop culture pagan can be extremely lonely. Even though I don’t post on here a lot, I do watch it.

Do you happen to know of any discord servers that are pop culture spirit friendly? I don't label myself a pop culture pagan but a spirit entered my life recently that I'm so smitten with but I have no one I can talk to about him in the server I am in because they believe that "fictional" beings are merely thoughtforms. Which he most certainly isn't ! And I take full offense at the notion. Thank you in advance and I hope you make a full recovery ā™”
I’m sorry for the late response, and thank you so much for the well wishes. I did some searching about and I haven’t found any Discord servers for PCP or PCP spirits. I’m very interested in joining one, so if you hear of one PLEASE let me know so I can promo it. And I wish you the best of luck with your new spirit, it’s always very exciting to meet someone new. Yours sound like they might be a soulbond.

Hello ^^ I'm a pop culture magician and pagan. It will be Lammas and I'm having trouble finding the right picture for Dobby to place at the altar. What are other ways of symbolizing Dobby's image without finding the right actual image of Dobby?
I’ve found using items relating to the character themselves are often great representations. Whether it’s an item in a color you associate with them, or just an item itself, those often work very well. Working with Erik from Phantom of the Opera, I have something with a music note. I have brightly colored stones that remind me of my Jedi. A black and red bracelet works for me for Edward from Fullmetal Alchemist. If it helps you and it connects you to who you’re reaching out to, it doesn’t have to be anything special. For Dobby it could be a literal sock, yes? It’s been awhile since I’ve read the books. Go with your heart. Happy Lammas. :)

I'm trying to rebrand my blog and work of building on magickal and spiritual practice. But I'm not sure where to start or which entity would want to work with me, I was think either Harley Quinn, Sherlock Holmes, Thor, or Elizabeth From BioShock (because I have a tattoo of her). What would you recommend?
Hello there!
First off, I want to apologize for the lateness of this response. I’ve been horribly sick for the past few weeks with COVID, and I haven’t had a lot of energy.
You don’t have to choose who to work with, luckily. You can work with all of them if you like. You’ll probably want to focus on one at a time, however. Who do you have the strongest attachment to? Is it Elizabeth? Sherlock Holmes, Thor, Harley Quinn? If you could only ever speak to one, who would it be? Perhaps, one of them has gotten you through a difficult time in your life?
But let me dig just a bit deeper here for you.
In my dealings with my entities, I have found they are no different than people. They havve certain likes and dislikes, have personalities, and get moody just like the rest of us. When I go to approach a new one (or one approaches me), we kinda feel each other out, like you would do meeting a new person. Focusing on one at time is probably going to be the best bet until you have a strong foundation with that entity, like any other relationship.
I say this because whomever you may decide to work with might not be keen on starting a relationship right away. Or become besties off the bat. Or want to at all. Don’t become too discouraged though, I finally got Qui-Gon to only start occassionally talk to me after 1 year, so if you run across a difficult case, be persistent and give it time.
Go with your heart and don’t give up if you don’t see immidiate responses and results.
I hope this all made sense. I wish you the best and let me know how it goes!

Can you promo me? I'm a pretty new pop culture pagan blog focused primarily on the Tribunal, from the Elder Scrolls universe. You can find me at @theendingofthewords.
Definitely! I have a soft spot for Tamriel in my heart. Seriously, folks, go check out @theendingofthewords
If you are new to Elder Scrolls terminology, but have an interest in the lore and gods and are confused where to go, this new blog is working with the Dunmer (Dark Elf) gods Vivec, Almalexia, and Sotha Sil. They are focused on in Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III).

I need help finding Earthbound pc witch blogs. Can someone help me?
Hey there. Sorry for the super long wait. I’m not into the PC Witchcraft scene, so I don’t know too many people actively practicing with certain entities. I can link you to a couple folks who are and they might have a better answer for you than me. @popculturewitches @popculturemagick @fyeahpopculturewitchcraft
As always, I am going to link The List, because I don’t know where the updated one is. It has general info on PC Paganism and PC Witchcraft and a list of entities people work with.

I was going to post something because the MCU has become important to me, but they said it all. Let’s just be real, superheroes are what keeps the world going, yeah? It doesn’t matter if it’s a guy in a metal suit, a woman who has telekinetic powers, your mom, or just a friend, but everyone has a hero. Stan Lee just allowed us to believe in ourselves and each other. Whatever or whoever keeps you going, fictional or not, that’s what matters. Fight for each other and for yourself. Friends are important. Love is important. You are important.
May his memory be a blessing.
Ā So after the many many posts mourning the passing of Stan Lee earlier today I’ve started seeing an inevitable wave of backlash about how he actually wasn’t a good person and we shouldn’t be mourning them. And these posts are par for the course when a celebrity dies because no one is all good or all bad, and that’s fine. And Stan Lee was human, he was a person with a complicated life and a complicated legacy, and I’m not here to whitewash any of that. However, I’d like to refute a couple of the points I’ve seen people making.Ā
The first is that Stan Lee sexually harassed nurses who were taking care of him. This story came from the Daily Mail, which is not a credible news source. The original story does not name any of the nurses who supposedly came forward with the story, or their employer, and the legitimacy of this story is pretty shaky. I’m not saying it categorically isn’t true, but I am saying that we should take stories from the newspaper that ran a headline about the discovery of theĀ ā€œgay geneā€ with a grain of salt.
The second is that Stan Lee was told that Andrew Garfield wanted to play Peter Parker as bisexual, and as retaliation forced Sony to only depict Peter Parker as straight and white. This isn’t quite true. There is a contract from 2011 that lists mandatory character traits for Spider-Man, and in that list is included that Spider-Man is ā€œnot a homosexual (unless Marvel has portrayed that alter ego as a homosexual).ā€Ā Whether Stan Lee himself personally was involved in writing up this contract is pretty doubtful seeing as his role in the company was fairly limited by that point (and that’s not to mention the fact that in his later years he was being abused and manipulated by the people closest to him), but he did mention it in an interview with Newsarama. What he specifically said was,Ā ā€œI wouldn’t mind, if Peter Parker had originally been black, a Latino, an Indian or anything else, that he stay that way, but we originally made him white. I don’t see any reason to change that (…) I think the world has a place for gay superheroes, certainly, But again, I don’t see any reason to change the sexual proclivities of a character once they’ve already been established. I have no problem with creating new, homosexual superheroes (…)Ā It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, or anti-black, or anti-Latino, or anything like that,ā€ he said. ā€œLatino characters should stay Latino. The Black Panther should certainly not be Swiss. I just see no reason to change that which has already been established when it’s so easy to add new characters. I say create new characters the way you want to. Hell, I’ll do it myself.ā€Ā
And while your mileage may vary on how much you agree with him there, it’s a far cry from him cruelly declaring Peter Parker having a boyfriend would be an affront before God and man and an insult to his authorial intent or whatever. Also, I think the original post that started this story was about Andrew Garfield saying something while doing press for Amazing Spiderman 2 and Stan Lee writing the contract as a result, but the contract is from 2011 and the first Amazing Spiderman came out in 2012, so the timeline doesn’t work. I could be misremembering the post though. There’s also this implied narrative that Andrew Garfield got axed for saying his Peter Parker was bi, but uh, no. No, they cancelled the franchise because Amazing Spiderman 2 bombed at the box office.Ā
Now, to wrap it up, was Stan Lee a good and perfect man? No. His legacy is very much a mixed bag, especially when it comes to his relationship with his long-time co-creator Jack Kirby (although that’s a whole other suitcase to unpack some other time). I would like to point out, however, that the posts praising him aren’t all just blindly hero-worshipping him and being willfully ignorant. When someone you admire dies it’s natural to forget about the bad parts of them for a bit and get a little misty eyed, and not everyone’s gonna be totally objective about this man that they never met but who represents something important to them. I think that speaks more to the way we interact with celebrity as a culture than it does about the way Marvel fans see Stan Lee frankly.Ā  And hey, we gain nothing by pretending that Stan Lee wasn’t an important figure in comic book history, one who co-created the first black character in mainstream comics just two years after the Civil Rights Act was passed, who fought the Comic Code Authority censors to use comics to tackle heavy subject matter, who helped bring legitimacy to the art form and humanity to its characters. So as long as I’ve got you here I’m gonna leave you with his thoughts on racism in 1968, words that feel just as relevant today:
ā€œRacism and bigotry are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today. But, unlike a team of costumed supervillains, they can’t be halted with a punch in the snoot or a zap from a ray gun. The only way to destroy them, is to expose them — to reveal from the insidious evil they really are.ā€
May his memory be a blessing.

Another Lost Ask
I was asked again recently about DC PC Pagans, and when I came to answer it, the ask was lost. It’s quite possible Tumblr decided it was tired of how long I took to respond, and removed it from my box (it doesn’t work like that, I know).
I have gotten an ask like this in the past so I’m going to link you to there. It has barebones stuff in it, because I haven’t found too much in the DC PCP scene. If I’m looking the wrong way or anyone knows more let me know.

A Lost Ask
I do not know anyone off the top of my head, but I’m going to give you a couple links to places that might help you get started.
I had someone ask me a question a few weeks back, and I was just able to sit down tonight to answer them. The ask is in longer in my box, and I cannot locate the person, so I will just answer here as best I can.
They were looking for other PC Pagans who worked with the universe of Magi (an anime). They worked with Aladdin specifically.
(I still can’t link, I’ve pretty much just decided I’m a forever newb)
http://fyeahpopculturewitchcraft.tumblr.com/resources
This is a great link (just a great Tumblr in general) for finding others in several different universes. I’m not sure if it’s up to date. If someone knows, or if they know one that is, please let me know.
http://polytheistcommunity.boards.net/thread/150/pop-culture-paganism-resources
This link has been around for years, and is just a great resource for PC Pagans in general.
Edit: Okay, so Tumblr thinks @fyeahpopculturewitchcraft isn’t a blog when you first search, but if you give it a second, they do show up. I say this because for the life of me it will not allow me to link them and it’s driving me nuts. They are there though!

Glad to see somebody still on the Pop Occulture radar--I was wondering where it had all disappeared to--perhaps driven back into the basement? (I figure that if QUILTBAG people are in the closet and witches in the woods, Pop Occultists can be in the basement--the traditional habitat of fandom, so the metaphor involves no appropriation. That said, of course the aforementioned groups can overlap.)
I am glad to see others out there as well. I do keep an eye on this Tumblr even if I’m not super active, so I will respond to folks. It might just take me a bit. :D
