personally i hate when people watch fantasy or historical shows and then take on the views of the era/world when discussing opinions on it. for example (and the main idea i had in mind about this) when people say Rhaenyra Targaryen shouldn’t be queen of westeros because she had bastard children… GUYS GUYS IT ISNT THAT DEEP OH MY GOD!!

when i see people spreading genuine vitriol about the character because of that it really grinds my gears. sure from the perspective of people in the show, they wouldn’t want her to be queen with bastard sons as heirs, but WE ARENT PEOPLE IN THE SHOW. we don’t need to share their views!!

james trust in everyone was off the charts. at the beginning anyway. he was raised fairly sheltered, his parents wanting to protect him from the cruelty of the world for as long as they possible could. that’s not to say he was gullible, or naive, not at all. he just loved easily, so easily, he loved like it was breathing, and he had so much love to give. with love came trust, of course it did, one can’t exist without the other, and so, in conclusion, James trusted just as easily as he loved.

when the war came, he changed. probably around seventh year, maybe before. maybe the change had been slow, over the course of years, and no-one had noticed. no matter when the change occurred, by the time James left school, sure enough, he had a hardened glint his eyes, his smiles tense and thin.
