Chapter 3: Blooming Bonds
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summery: What if a K-pop idol falls in love with a Broadway singer who has a secret of her own?
Warning/Triggers: No proof reader, mentions of SH
Notes: You know when you make up a ship as a joke…and then you start shipping it genuinely? Yeah, that's how this fic was born. That and also spite towards Jelsa and Rujinu. Nothing wrong if you love those ships! Ship away, I just want to throw my hat into the ring and contribute to making some more WLW ships, especially with Elsa.
Never did Elsa think she'd miss the days of Cassandra demanding 30 laps around a musky gym, but she did at the moment. Mainly due to the humidity she was definitely not used to it making her clothing cling to her skin, her hair felt like a built-in heater. Though it wasn't all bad, the compound was gorgeous, and when it wasn't too hot to think she enjoyed being outside. Celine was firm but fair if a little distant in her training, and she made sure that the sisters were understanding what they were doing. Elsa was working on perfecting her agility and parkour skills, jumping and climbing on the trees and rocks around them, though her abilities will never compare to her rambunctious sister. She preferred to keep her distance when fighting, and had found a way to use her powers without losing control or having anyone finding out why exactly she can do them and not many other hunters. Though she didn't use them often, fearing that Celine would suspect her.
Currently she's cleaning up, finishing training for the day as she unraveled her wraps to put on some long gloves when she saw a notification on her phone. Picking it up to see a message from Rumi, the two had been texting a week after the conference, mainly just to say hi and ask how each other’s day went.
Rumi: Hi! How did training go today?
Elsa: Exhausting but good! Me and Anna will become masters in no time.
Rumi: I believe in you! Me and the girls were gonna go get some dinner, we were wondering if you’d both like to join us?
Elsa smiles, the socially anxious side of her was a little hesitant to say yes. But she knew Anna would drag her anyway.
Elsa: I'd be honored to, I'll be sure to tell Anna and Celine
Rumi: Great! We'll pick you up in 30 minutes, hang tight until then.
Elsa: Will do, thank you Rumi.
She smiles, excited to have a change of pace from the past few days. “Anna, Rumi and the girls are taking us out for dinner!” She half yells.
“Fuck yeah!” The young girl shouts, earning a soft laugh from her sister.
The sisters were brought to the trio's favorite Korean barbeque, with the kpop girls requesting a secluded booth to prevent any unwanted attention, though they still went ‘undercover’. Thankfully the Andersons were able to make it a little bit easier by ordering for them to draw away any suspicions.
“We definitely need to take you two for our nights out more often.” Mira mumbles out as she stuffs her face. “If it’s for meat this good I’d do it in a heart beat” Anna states as she also stuffs her face with more food, with Zoey very tempted to make a joke but refraining. Rumi smiles, “I’m glad that my cooking skills are still as sharp as ever.” She had been manning the grill since they started, giving everyone their share of food.
“You should eat Rumi, I’ll take over for you.” Elsa suggests as she starts preparing a second batch.
“You sure? You are our guest.” “Yes, but you need to eat as well, enjoy yourself.” Elsa offers sweetly. “Unless you want me or Mira to take over” Zoey declares with a smirk Rumi raises an eyebrow “Is that a threat?”
“Maaaaaybe~” Zoey says in a cute way, emphasizing her former statement. “Ugh ok, I’ll allow it” She gives Elsa the tools, watching her work the grill.
“Thats our workaholic for you, she can’t relax even when she’s eating out.” Mira states in her dry matter, earning an annoyed groan from Rumi and soft snort from Zoey and Anna who picked up the double meaning. Elsa and Rumi choose to ignore it.
“Pfft man that sounds familiar~” Anna quips, earning a straw wrapper to be blown at her face by her sister, which took her by surprise. Though not unwelcomed, considering the blonde is rarely this childish. “Hush you, you don’t see me judging you for your poor choices.” This causes Rumi to snort before taking a drink. “Hey now, when did you get so sassy sis?” Anna glares, a sense of playfulness fills her eyes. “You’re not a demon in disguise are you?” Normally a comment like this would send Elsa in a anxiety spiral, but her confidence was soaring high. Her muscles are sore but relaxed, and her belly full of good food so she’s just rolling with it.
“I’m just fighting fire with fire sis. Speaking of which, hush before I burn your ribs.”
“Fiiiine, though it’s nice to see you jab back.” Anna states as she drinks her water.
“Agree, it’s nice seeing you being sassy versus the ‘polite professional’ we met weeks ago.” Rumi assures, with nodding agreement from her bandmates, all while picking up her plate to receive some well cooked bok choy and kobe from Elsa. “I guess that means I feel more comfortable around you all.” she adds softly, receiving an audible awe from Zoey. “That's great to hear! You’re honestly too sweet.” Causing the taller women to blush.
“Thank you.” the blonde says shyly as she curls into herself.
“Careful Zoey, she might implode. She’s one of those lesbians that get super flustered when a girl compliments her.” Anna muses as she grabs more food to plop on her plate. Elsa gasps “I do not! Din lille dritt.” she growls softly at Anna who’s acting like she didn’t do anything, while the other women were taken a little aback in surprise. “Woah where did that come from?” Mira asks in shock that another language was whipped out so casually.
“When I need to make a point or emphasize something to my brat of a sister.” Elsa playfully snears at a smug Anna who’s sticking her tongue out. “It’s Norwegian, she called me a little shit. And I’m proud of it~” “You speak it?” Rumi questions the blonde next to her.
“I do, though not as often I should. Anna as well, our mother was from Norway. She came to the states for school through an exchange program and met our dad.”
“Aw that's cute, sounds similar to how my parents met.” Zoey adds, though not as cheery as before.
Which only Mira notices, trying to derail to another choice of topic slowly “Have you ever been to Norway?” “Forturnately we have, many times…though we’ve been meaning to back since their passing.” Elsa says sadly, which resulted in Rumi and Anna reaching over and placing a reassuring hand on her arm and hand, which causes Elsa to slightly stiffen, fearing they would be hurt. But when nothing happened, she started to relax. Rumi was the first to speak “I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s…never easy…” she asserts, looking at the two sisters momentarily grieving. Elsa gives her a faint if pained smile. “Thank you Rumi…it thankfully hurts a little less overtime. And all we can do now is to ensure their memory lives on, and live how they’d want us to.” “Heck yeah, performing our hearts out and protecting people from the filthy demons that threaten them!” Anna declares proudly, holding her cup up. Earning a soft but confident cheer from everyone at the table who raised their glass, though no one noticed a flicker of unknown emotions in the eyes of the single braided women. “Now, something more fun to talk about…” Anna mutters “Where would you all like to travel to in the future?” “Japan.” the three pop stars say in unison, earning a laugh from the sisters. “Was this a group discussion oooor?” Anna questions teasingly
“Happy accident, surprisingly.” Rumi assures with a grin “I wanted to visit because I love their cinema and music. Plus I’ve never been outside of Korea, and the idea of a different country just a small flight over is intriguing.” “Have been to Japan, but I wanna go there again to make better memories.” Mira states short and sweet, not really caring to elaborate for personal reasons. Causing her to receive more food from Elsa who made sure to give her a little extra of her favorite meats. Eyes falling to Zoey to finish the question “I have wanted to go since I was a kid, I was andmaybestillamatotallynormal fan of anime. So naturally I HAVE to go.”
“Why do I have a feeling you were the type to Naruto run to class Zoey?” Anna teases, earning a huff.
“You can’t prove anything, Miss Anderson!” she says pointing a finger at the fellow freckled girl.
The group of women laugh, enjoying the remainder of their calm day before the busy weeks to come.
Busy was an understatement to describe the few days after the barbecue, with long grueling rehearsals, training and trip planning. The resistant bathhouse enjoyers dedicated to go visit, but had their invite turned down once again by their leader. Rumi felt bad turning them down so often, especially with their first big world tour just around the corner. So she made an off-handed suggestion in inviting their new friends Elsa and Anna to join. If push comes to shove it could help nullify the fact that Rumi turned them down. Little did she know that this comment turned into a whole thing, because not only did they actually take Anna to the bathhouse with them (much to her surprise that Anna said yes.). But Elsa had turned down the invite and had been bribed into hanging out with purple haired women. So now Rumi and Elsa are standing in the Huntrix’s apartment, awkwardly thinking of what to say without their resistant mottermouths.
“So…you were basically kidnapped to babysit me?” Rumi inquires playfully, trying to break the awkward tension and set the blonde at ease. Which thankfully worked as a soft laugh came from Elsa.
“I guess so. They mentioned how you’ve been working a lot and should try and get some form of relaxation while they do what they usually prefer. Now that being said you are a grown woman, and you should do what you want. I can go for a walk or something and let you work.” Offering Rumi a way out of this interaction, but she didn’t take it.
“Na, they have a point, I should probably take a break…at least for a few minutes”
Elsa could only laugh at the mention of work, Mira and Zoey weren’t joking about Rumi and her relation to it. Though she knows damn well she cannot judge, she was just as bad. “Understandable, what are you thinking?”
Rumi gets an idea as she starts walking to the door “Have you had a chance to explore the city in full yet?”
“Sadly no.” “Would you like to? We can go for a walk around the city, and pick up some food. I do want to work on some stuff, but a little treat wouldn’t hurt.” She smiles, waiting for her answer, and receiving it in the form of a smile.
“I like that idea.”
The two start walking around the town, with Rumi being a perfect guide in teaching Elsa about her culture and home, along with showcasing the place’s quirks. With the quiet blonde absorbing everything she could, even buying some trinkets and charms to give to her sister and friends back home. Both ended the walking venture splurging on street food and snacks as they talked about their lives, which both admitted to neglecting when they weren't too focused on work. “Yeah, I know I should be ‘making time for myself’…but I don’t really know what ‘time for myself’ would really entail…outside of relaxing on the couch.”  Rumi rambles as she presses the door to her place open with her shoulder, for her arms were full of bags. Holding the door to allow the blonde to follow suit. “In your defense, being a kpop star is basically a 24/7 job. It’s kinda hard to not be on the clock. Though I am assuming there are ways, being hard on yourself probably doesn’t help.” She says softly, hitting the elevator as the two ride to the apartment. “Yeah. I’m sure I’ll figure it out…eventually.” The shorter woman mumbled out as she started to put away her haul of snacks “Feel free to sit and relax, I’ll just be a second.” “I can help if you want. As a guest I should at least offer my assistance.” Elsa states as she watches Rumi struggle to put something away on the higher shelf. “...if you want that is” she says with a hint of amusement in her voice.
Rumi huffs in annoyance “Yes please, damn you and Mira for your height. Save some for the rest of us won’t ya.” which only causes the taller women to chuckle, helping her.
“It can’t be helped~” she smirks back at Rumi, who playfully glares back.
“Now, we got our snacks. Anything you wanna do?”
Elsa shrugs “I’m down for whatever.”
Rumi starts to think “Hm…”
Mira, Zoey and Anna arrive at the apartment basking in their freshly cleaned bodies and relaxed muscles. Once inside, all they see is their respective braid wearers sitting on the couch with tons of writing pads, sheet music and a guitar.
“What are you two doing?” Rumi and Elsa look at each other “Uh, having fun?” “By working?” Anna groans.
“In our defense! This is just a chill creative session. Nothing too serious, we have the tv on and everything.” Rumi defended, justifying the fact she was clearly not taking it easy.
“Plus I wanted to get into writing music, I figured now would be a good time to try. Rumi was teaching me!” Elsa says with stars in her eyes.
The trio chuckled in defeat, knowing they can never get their braided loved ones to fully relax.
“Well, at least you’re having fun” Mira sighs
This became the new routine for the women. Alternating their days from just work to working and then hanging out, or even training together. It worked really well, and both groups seemed to really enjoy the company of each other.
Rumi was currently playing guitar on her apartment's balcony, trying to get her mind off the tour that was only weeks away. She was already writing another song, or at the very least attempting to. She normally doesn't write a song without Zoey, but she felt especially driven in the moment. Her friends had gone to the bathhouse, and she was alone in the apartment. Her mind was racing, thinking about the future traveling for the tour, trying to keep on top of the charts, and worst of all thinking back to the morning and seeing her patterns were starting to crawl further across her skin. It had become harder to hide. She started to feel like she was drowning, but she'd never state it or show it to anyone if she could help it, so she kept it in. Using work as an outlet to try and keep her distracted and afloat. She softly strums the guitar, hoping to spark some ideas when she hears the door to her balcony open, turning to see the new yet familiar face that had come over, guess she wasn't entirely alone.
"Care for some company?" a soft voice asks from the doorway.
Rumi was greeted by a casual cloth wearing Elsa, which was kind of a first since she got here. Though still wearing gloves, how many pairs does she have? And in her hands she held two cups of iced tea, one of them being clearly her favorite flavor. She smiles brightly "Yeah, make yourself comfortable"
The blonde walks over, setting the drink next to Rumi "Mira ordered them for us before heading to the bathhouse with the other girls. I offered to pay but she refused. I swear she's as stubborn as Anna sometimes." Elsa huffs as she slouches in the chair across to the brown eyed women.
Rumi softly chuckles "Oh believe me she's MUCH worse. Anna doesn't chuck your wallet across the restaurant, forcing you to run after it." setting her guitar down to pick up her tea, sipping it. "hm~" humming happily as she took another sip.
A soft hum comes from the blonde "I hope I never have to experience that.”
Rumi watches Elsa drink, over the two weeks she's known she's picked up on a few of Elsa's habits. Like when she acts very ‘proper’ and ‘elegantly’ it's usually a front, to hide her anxiousness. While understandable why she'd act that way, she knew more so than most people. But it made Rumi sad seeing her clearly put on a front of perfection. So she decided to take it a step further and break the need to perform, she loudly slurps up her drink. Which catches the pale blonde off guard.
Elsa laughs "Pfft what was that?!"
"It's the real deal Queenie, this is how I am when I like my food and I won't be apologetic about it." Rumi loudly boasts, letting her confidence shine through, which causes Elsa to laugh more.
"Oh how very gracious of you Miss Kpop Queen." she states as she catches her breath, more at ease as she drinks like a normal person much to Rumi's delight. "So, what are you doing out here?"
"Just trying to think of some new songs" she sets her drink down and picks up her guitar again to play.
"Still? Don't you already have a world tour in like two weeks? It already sounds like a lot to handle." Elsa asks with a hint of worry for her friend.
"I like staying one step ahead." she states as she starts strumming, keeping it soft so the two can keep talking.
Elsa sighing softly "I guess I can relate to that...always feeling the need to keep moving..."
As she continues to play, Rumi starts to ponder on what Elsa said.
"Do you ever…feel the need to keep moving, not exactly out of a drive of passion...but of something else?" she looks over to the blonde who had set her drink down, hands fiddling with her braid, a nervous habit Rumi also picked up on.
"To be honest....yeah. I've always been kind of an anxious person. I want to do everything I can to be the best for this job, my career, my sister and my parent's memory...I do genuinely want to keep going because I want to. Though some days I tend to be driven by that anxiety..."
Rumi's eyes softened, feeling a sense of kinship with the quiet blonde across from her. "...I totally get it. You fight so hard to reach this level of excellence that you are put in not only by others but on yourself. Even then you feel like it's not enough, like 'if I do everything I can and pour every adam of energy and passion into it, everything will be ok.' "
Blue eyes light up and shift to look into Rumi's. "Exactly! Oh my god you hit the nail on the head." she says exasperated, catching the other women off guard slightly. "Like how much can I give to be perfect in everything I need to do cause everyone is relying on me-" But in a split second she felt her hands get colder, her powers threatening to spill out as her emotions run high, she got caught up in the moment in connecting with someone.
She recoils into herself "S-sorry I didn't mean to get to get lou-"
"Wait no, why are you apologizing? You didn't do anything wrong." Rumi states, seeing the blonde internally deal with some kind of conflict. But she doesn't push or pry at her. "From what it sounds like you've had these feelings for a while, but no one really to talk to about it?"
Elsa sighs, releasing the tightness in her chest "yeah...Anna tries so hard to understand. But that's just not how she thinks, stuff like this just rolls off her...plus I put this pressure on myself...do you do the same?"
Rumi smiles guilty, curling inward "yeaaaah...Mira and Zoey have been respectful of my boundaries...but I do need to be better about this type of stuff." she answers, recalling how she can be so mission focused she forgets that other things are important…like sleep.
A soft empathetic laugh rings from the blonde's lips "I guess that's what we get for being workaholic perfectionists huh? We make our own nightmares to live in."
"Well I wouldn't say it's all baaaaad…" Rumi mutters stubbornly "It makes us strive to be better...even if it's admittingly a bit of a toxic mindset." she says with a defeated and unamused smile, earning another chuckle from the blonde "...At the very least we have fellow crazies to keep us in check." she states smiling as she refers to Elsa.
Elsa couldn't help but feel her face flush slightly, though she couldn't pin on why that was. "I concur...now, is there anything less...intense you'd like to talk about?"
"Hmmmm" Rumi thinks, mentally checking through her 'conversation starters list'. "Are there any roles you want to play on Broadway?"
"Oh my god, where to even start!" Elsa starts to ramble on, both women talk to each other passionately about their wants and desires for their careers till the sun sank and the moon rose. They were so enamored by their conversations, they didn't notice the change until their phones lit up.
"Looks like the girls are back from the bathhouse." Rumi muses, which results in Elsa getting up.
"Which probably means I got to head out back to the training grounds. Need to wake up bright and early for another day of training." Elsa goes to pick up Rumi's empty cup to bring it inside.
"Awe thank you, I could throw it out myself though." Rumi asserts only to be met with the blonde shaking her head.
"Na, I don't want it to interrupt your creative process." She stated as she walked to the door, before pausing and turning to the sitting women "And Rumi...thank you, for the talk. It was nice" she said sweetly, eyes soft like the moonlight above, but still holding so much warmth that was felt within Rumi.
"Of course, have a good night Elsa" She watches the blonde go inside. Afterward she continues to think, about what they all said, about her friends and where they came from. She began to softly sing
 "And we can be, freeeee"

Chapter 2: Twisting Faiths
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summery: What if a K-pop idol falls in love with a Broadway singer who has a secret of her own?
Rating: T (Mostly just cussing, harsh language, some body horror, and some slightly suggestive themes.)
Elsa was currently reading her sheet music that she had picked up, she was working on auditioning for another role, softly singing her lines. Or at least she was trying to until her firecracker of a sister bursts into the room.
"ELSA HOLY SHIT"
Elsa jumps slightly at the loud entrance "Language Anna. why are you-"
“Look look look look!!!!" She shoves an envelope so eagerly into her sister's face that Elsa didn't have time to process what she was looking at. The blonde snatched the letter and took a look,  the envelope was normal, until she noticed a faint light shimmering from the lines across the paper, replicating the honmoon, her eyes widened as she looked at Anna. Meeting her energy level by ripping the letter open and reading the paper inside
"Dear Miss Anna and Elsa Anderson, we would like to congratulate you on your training into becoming hunters. To finalize your training, we would like-" her sister squeals in excitement before she could even let the words slip from her mouth, hugging her tightly around the shoulders, causing a flicker of cold to form around the blonde briefly before dissipating, Anna hadn’t noticed.
"We are gonna be official hunters!!"
Elsa chuckles softly as she tries to catch her breath " I guess so, now if you can stop strangling me I can read the rest of this"
"Ah! Sorry, right no touching! Ok ok, read it!" Anna pulls away swiftly, bouncing.
Elsa hums in amusement at her sister's antics before clearing her throat "we would like to complete your training under the guidance of Master Celine in South Korea. There you will also be attending our world conference where you will meet other Hunters from across the world"
Stars formed in Anna's eyes  "We get to travel, wait scratch that. Did they say CELINE?? Like the women who formed Huntrix Celine!? We'll be training under her??"
Elsa winces at her overly excited sister's loud voice "I guess so...wait...wait wouldn't that mean"
"...that Huntrix are also demon hunters?? Ah! This is so cool! I wonder if we'll get to meet Huntrix as well!" Anna chirps, her excitement causing her to bounce on her feet
"I mean I would assume so" Elsa stated "unless the name Huntrix is just a happy coincidence. Maybe we’ll see them at the conference"
Anna beams at her sister "This is gonna be amazing, when did they say that they were flying us out?"
Shuffling the paper, Elsa reads over the rest of the information "Looks like in two weeks, and we'll be staying there for a month. So we'll have to figure out what to do in regards to our bills. A month is a long time to be off for us"
Anna moves to rest her arms on the back of the chair "I'm sure Olaf will figure something out, he's pretty good at finding roles for us to try, and we got a little in the bank from some of our past shows. Plus if I recall the hunter's guild will often help pitch in some cash while we train"
Elsa's eyes flicker with amusement as she faces her sister "So you HAVE been paying attention to the ‘boring paper work’ during the orientation?" This earned a soft scoff from her sister
"Hey now just because I'm not a book worm like you doesn't mean that I don't read at all. I just prefer the physical aspect of the training"  the redhead pouts.
A chuckle like hum came from the blonde's lips "Well I guess it's settled then, I'll text Olaf what we are doing. Say it's some ‘additional training’ in Korea to learn about how they do theater. Now if you don't mind I'm going to go back to working on the audition material." she stands to fully stretch, setting the letter down on the end table
Anna groans "Come on Elsaaa you've been working all day, plus it's not like you'll be needing it in like two weeks."
"Sorry but ALL our skills need to be sharp for this training Anna." she looks apologetically at the younger women.
"Fiiiine, but tonight we are going out to eat to celebrate. No if's, and's or but's! My treat"
Elsa smiles "Sounds good, meet back here at 6?"
"Deal! Take it easy sis, I'm gonna go run some errands. Love you"
"Love you too" Elsa says as she watches her sister leave, but the second she closes the door she hears it.
"You let her get too comfortable and close with you. You could have frozen her on the spot"
Her body stiffens, frost forming on the ground at her feet, but not for long as she snatches up her sheet music. Work always makes the voices disappear, even if for a little while, she pours her energy and time to honing her craft.
Rumi-
Deep brown eyes wander the passing landscape as she sits on the train, in a private cart with Mira and Zoey. She was trying to enjoy the brief moment of calm before the chaos ahead of them for the next few weeks leading up to their first world tour. Celine is bringing them to their first Hunter's society to meet other hunters from all over the world, to learn and make connections with others to help in case something happens in the country they are currently touring in. As they began to come closer to the conference Celine entered their room to give them the run down.
"Now I want you to make as many connections as you can while at this conference, it will help you on your mission if you know people local to the area" her guardian speaks matter of factly.
"We were also asked to take in some new hunters to finalize their training. That way they can assist you in any future fights you'll have."
"Good to know, will we be training with them?" Rumi asks curiously
"If you wish to do so. Though, your first world tour is in a month and you should focus on that."
"Do you know anything about them?" Zoey asks, tilting her head into Celine's field of vision
"Yes, their names are Anna and Elsa Anderson. They are Broadway singers-"
Zoey gasps in her excitement "They are from America!?"
"I guess they are a part of your kin," Mira chuckles, with Zoey snorting in response
“Sorta, I'm from Burbank and these guys are from I'm assuming New York."
"Aren't they basically the same place?" Mira says with a smirk, earning a betrayed gasp from the brunette.
"Listen here you not so little sh-"
"As I was saying” Intrupts Cleine “They will be staying for a month to finish their training, they'll be staying with me at the training grounds. We'll be meeting them at this conference.”
"Good to know, anything else we should keep in mind?" Rumi inquires
"Just do what you would normally do at an interview. Best foot forward, faults and fears never to be seen. We want to make a good impression."
“Yes Celine” the girls say in unison, before going back to enjoying the train ride.
Rumi got lost in her own thoughts once again, wondering what the new hunters will be like. Hopefully they will be helpful in sealing the honmoon for good, for they still had a long way to go.
Elsa was always a little anxious meeting new people, but now being in a new country meeting new people within her field was a whole new level. Her hands held tightly together as she and Anna waited to meet their new Mentor. She can feel her curse flare up, knowing well that beneath her satin gloves her markings radiate purple. She doesn't want to mess it up, she starts concealing her emotions, holding them down like her life depended on it. Though she appears looking perfectly confident and content on the outside, inside she's an anxious mess. The only one who noticed is the redhead placing a hand on her shoulder, causing her to tense at the touch.
"Hey it's ok, we'll be ok."
Elsa looks at her turquoise eyes, releasing all the anxious air she's been holding, muscles finally becoming less tense.
"Thank you Anna."
The door soon opens, in walks a tall woman with wavy hair, a sharp streak of grey running through it. "Hello, are you the Anderson sisters?"
Elsa moves to greet the women "We are, are you Miss Celine by chance?"
Celine "I am welcome to Korea and the conference. I assume your flight went well?"
"It was, thank you for offering your home to complete our training."
"The honor is all mine. Anything to help protect the honmoon from the demons around us. Now have you both got a chance to explore the conference yet?"
Anna spoke up "A little, we managed to get some food. But we were told to wait here so that we could meet you in a less crowded environment."
"Very good, you both may follow me. You will properly be meeting your fellow hunters who have trained under me." Celine turns to lead them out to Rumi, Mira and Zoey who were waiting outside the door. The three line up to meet the two new strangers next to Celine
"Ladies, these are the new hunters that will be staying with us."
Anna eagerly speaks up "Hi I'm Anna and this is my big sister Elsa, it's truly a privilege and an honor to meet you all" she offers her hand to greet the other three women.
Rumi smiles "The pleasure is all ours, I'm Rumi and this is Mira and Zoey"  she states as she shakes Anna’s hand then Elsa’s, which Elsa takes hesitantly. Though when she did, something felt...different, even through the gloves. She wasn't sure what it was, but she felt it. Elsa felt it as well, sensing something powerful, but also…familar? But both brush it off as ‘Meeting strangers jitters, especially when they are freakin pop idols/broadway actors’.
Elsa smiles "It's nice to meet you"
Mira shook both girls hands and nods “Hey, nice to meet ya."
Zoey gittily grabs Anna and Elsa's hand "Sup fellow Americans" she says with a cheesy grin.
Anna gasps "Oh right you grew up in America didn't you? Oh wait sorry, that sounds creepy. I've been listening to your music and have heard about your life from interviews." She flounders, trying to contain her fangirling, but fails to do so.
Zoey only chuckles, matching Anna's energy "Don't worry. You're right on the money, grew up in Burbank before moving out here!"
Celine interjects before the women fully get lost in conversation "Now, before I let you all go to explore the conference and socialize. The information presentation will start in an hour. So make sure you meet at the podium by then. Ladies you are in charge of Elsa and Anna, make sure they don't get into trouble"
The trio replies "Yes Celine!"
Celine leaves to go talk to other mentors, and Anna immediately pips up "Sooooo I did see a really tasty looking food table over there...miiiiind if I steal one of you so you can show me what I can eat?"
Zoey laughs "Girl I got you, let's go raid the table" she grabs Anna's arm and drags her over. The taller women chuckle in amusement at their younger party's antics, following close behind.
"Make sure you save some for the rest of us Anna" Elsa quips as she only hears a muffled ‘bite me’ from the red head and a laugh from the smaller women.
"Is your sister always like this?" Rumi asks with a drip of teasing in her voice
Elsa softly laughs "Give or take yes. Mostly when she's really excited about the food. I can't blame her, the food here has been amazing."
"Good to hear that our food isn't too much of a clash on your tastebuds." Mira quips, slightly jabbing at the blonde, which earned an annoyed look from her leader. But the blonde took it in stride.
"Not at all, it honestly tastes a little bit like home. Where we live there's a really cute Korean barbeque place that we often go to, it’s been around for ages."
Rumi hums "Well if you ever want suggestions for places to eat, we have a whole list of great places."
Elsa muses "I might take you up on that, though I am here mostly for training. I would like to properly experience your home."
"I'm sure if you tell Celine exactly that she may let you off that training grind for a bit. She can be very no nonsenses most of the time" Rumi states.
"I'll be sure to keep that in mind, it is her home I don't want to impose."
"Oh please we'd be more than happy to kidnap you, plus we can use it as a training exercise excuse" Mira adds.
"This is true." Elsa says as she starts thinking "Plus it will make it better for us to know the lay of your home if we ever come visit."
The trio arrived at the table to witness their other teammates grabbing a ton of food, Mira snarks "You sure that's enough for the both of you? I've seen you eat more Zoey."
"Well since you three were taking your sweet time wandering over here Anna and I decided to grab a little bit of everything to share!"
"Yeah so that way we can focus more on talking then staring at the food." Anna chirps, almost losing a plate but thankfully Mira snatched it before it could hit the ground.
"Need a hand over there shortstack?" Mira said, smirking at Anna, only to be met with an angry pout.
"I may be short, but I will kick your shins in."
Mira snorts "Quite a spitfire you are hu?"
Elsa hums "Oh you don't know the HALF of it." earning a chuckle from Rumi.
“Now that would be interesting to talk about."
Anna huffs "Hey! Less dragging, more food snatching!"
Everyone helps grab food and bring it over to a big table, Anna grabbing a little bit of everything with Zoey happily explaining what items she didn't know are, with Mira happily listening to the two chatter.
"So what's it like being on Broadway?" Rumi inquires as she sits next to the platinum blonde.
"It's nice, if a little anxiety inducing at times." Elsa states as she starts eating her food, making sure to finish a bite before continuing. "We are still considered rookies despite having a couple of shows under our belt, we are still learning and growing. But it's always nice, seeing people get invested in the performance."
"I get the feeling, seeing our fans’ excitement and love for our music and performance really swells my chest with pride." Rumi says as she eats in an atypically polite and demure manner to be publicly acceptable.
“Oh for sure! I love seeing their passion, and the cute little signs?! It’s everything!” Zoey adds, with Mira nodding in agreement “It is very cute.”
"Exactly! It’s like you feed off each other’s energy. Like an endless battery!” Anna exclaims before wolfing down more food.
“Right, and when you’re belting out a song and you see the glow from the audience's heart...I don't know, it does something to you." Elsa says fondly, recalling many of her performances and catching a glimpse of an enamored audience. Earning an agreement from her table mates, as they all began to eat and chatter.
Rumi has become pretty good at navigating most conversations in a professional manner due to her idol training, only really being herself around Zoey and Mira. However talking to both Elsa and Anna had been super easy. Though they were also still trying to be professional, it was very clear that they were passionate women who were excited to start their career as hunters. It made some of her walls break down, especially seeing Anna and Zoey talk. They were like two peas in a pod, rambling on about their passions and loves in life, with Anna also making snarky remakes to Mira and her dishing them right back. While she and Elsa had gone off on their own conversations, talking about their inspirations and their work, with blue eyed women showing interest when Rumi talked about her writing process. She honestly wouldn’t mind hanging out with the two sisters again. Once the conference ended, all the women exchanged phone numbers while waiting for their respective rides.
“Make sure to text us! We’ll be sure to hang out at some point!” Zoey declares as she hugs Anna.
“We will!” Anna chirps back, hugging the other women. The taller members couldn’t help but smile.
“It’s like watching two puppies playing together,” Mira says, earning a soft laugh from the other women. “It is.” Elsa agrees softly.
“Ok, it’s time to head out. Anna and Elsa, you two will be coming with me, I’lll explain our schedule in the car.” Celine states as she waves down the Ubers she got for the groups. “Well it was very nice to meet you all, I hope we get to meet again soon.” Elsa says, looking at the Kpop group as she and Anna head to the car.
“If Zoey has anything to say about it, we definitely will!” Rumi asserts, earring a comment of ‘damn right’ from her friend. “Have a good night guys!”

Braided Together
Chapter 1: A tale of two braids
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summery: What if a K-pop idol falls in love with a Broadway singer who has a secret of her own?
Rating: T (Mostly just cussing, harsh language, some body horror, and some slightly suggestive themes.) Warning/Triggers: No proof reader, mentions of SH
:Prologue:
Demons have always haunted this world, stealing the souls of the humans who lived above them, feeding them back to their demon king. But it was not lost thanks to the very first hunters. born with voices that they used to fight against the demons that ran rampant upon their world. These hunters were the first to create the honmoon, but they were not alone.
Beyond the land and sea, hunters began to spring up and form from across the globe, from wayfinders belting in the pacific, to tribes of first nations people chanting in the Americas, to the humming Sami people habiting the north of Europe, all fought vigorously back against Gwi-ma's influence. Sending his demon kin back to rot, eventually overpowering the demons to the point where people of the modern day barely remember the existence of such beings, thinking of them as just simple fairytales.
But Gwi-ma was far from succumbing to defeat, with his power he managed to create many demons that had more power then most. Those were tasked to do one simple thing, curse those above. Not to consume, but to curse humans with powers and to become future puppets for the demon king. One of these demons limped away from the hunters hot on his trail. Until he found his target, a young women with deep brown hair, heavily pregnant. He could sense the potential of the child within, maybe even the potential to become a hunter. He took his chance and cursed her before the hunters finished the job without the mother any wiser on what happened.
A month later the child was born, hair platinum blonde, bright blue eyes, she was practically perfect...unless you consider her hands. Her hands were noticeably marked with a light stripe like pattern, which for now was unnoticeable to the tired mother that cherished her child.
When across the world there was another born months before, a girl with rich brown eyes and lavender hair. But her creation was out of an unholy unity between a Hunter and a Demon. For the two had fallen in love and vowed to protect their little family. Though the birth was joyous, the joy experienced had a short life. While the child was 4, her parents had perished under unknown circumstances. Now the child was taken into the care of her Aunt, who held the half demon child in her arms, eyes full of regret, anger, disgust, but care.
Elsa-
Elsa had noticed the patterns on her hands around the age of 6, but never paid them any mind, merely indifferent to them. Though she did find joy in the way they became a vibrant blue when she would use her powers, however one night in December that all changed. It was like any other night where her younger sister Anna with her boundless energy snuck up to her, eager to play as she started playfully and requesting her sister to do so. Elsa could only smile as she caved into her little sister's request. The two sneak downstairs and start to play, everything was fine, Elsa was carefree and uses her powers with joy. But she couldn't keep up with the young redhead, barely able to support her as she bounces around on mounds of snow, and in a moment she slipped and shot her magic to try to catch her. But she misses, hitting Anna. A sense of horror ripped though her body as she ran to comfort her sister, crying for her parents, holding her little sister close. It was at that moment when she first heard a deep but soft voice.
"You hurt her…”
It was almost faint, barely legible, but it was noticed, even after her parents entered the room to realize what was going on.
The family took Anna to the hospital, the doctors were unsure how to handle the situation, merely thinking the child had hit her head while playing outside in the snow. Her parents didn't elaborate on the details, unsure how to explain exactly what happened and feared for what would become of Elsa if they did. But that was the moment the young blonde realized that they had been very secretive about her powers. She wasn't sure why, though the self conscious thoughts filled in those answers. After that night, Elsa began to notice her markings more. They shifted from a dull silver, to a bruised purple, no longer did she cherish the marks that shifted their color, she hated them.
Rumi-
Rumi always had a complicated relationship with her patterns, growing up under the care of her guardian Celine she knew what demons were and that they needed to be destroyed. But she was part demon, so does she need to be destroyed as well? Though the older woman tried to downplay it as if she wasn't, the young girl still pondered that thought. He knew her Aunt couldn't bear to look at the pattern that laid bare on her skin, even if she wouldn't state that out loud. It was a confusing time to grow up, she was excelling at her homeschool studies and demon hunter training. While it was clear her guardian was proud of her and wanted to show that love and admiration towards her, there was an immovable wall that always kept her at an arm's length. She always held back and Rumi knew why deep down.
As she grew older, she was always found wandering close to her Mother's grave, she'd learn how to maintain and clean it up from watching Celine so many times. She'd often be seen there when she was especially overwhelmed, sad or tired, talking to the engraved stone. Discussing her day, her training, going to premieres and meetings with her Aunt. Sometimes she'd bring a cd player to listen to her mother's music as she sat there, the only way she can ever hear her mother's voice. She'd often wonder what her mother was like, what was her favorite color? Did she like teddy bears? What was it like being a demon hunter for her? How did she meet her father...and what happened, was it her fault?
Elsa-
Growing up had been hard on Elsa, every passing year she could feel the power grow within her, with it seeping in outbursts away from prying eyes. It made her pull away from her parents and sister, despite her family's best efforts to help her and make her feel safe and loved. She kept herself hidden, recluse, and isolated, especially when she turned 12 was moved to homeschooling to escape relentless bullying from her classmates. They picked on her for being a "stuck-up perfect princess", despite her little sister's best efforts to make them stop with her fists. It was like she was a ghost haunting her own home, barely seen and when she was it was like she was putting on a performance to hide what she felt beneath. But to top off the worst of it, was the voice. It ate away at her internally, mercilessly. Growing more and more persistent and overwhelming as she grew older, whispering in a voice dripping with poison that mimicked her own.
"you're just a monster"  "you'll just hurt them if you get too close" "you don't deserve their love" "your parent's tolerate you" "Would your sister even love you for what you are?"
"you are a MONSTER"
Despite her parent's best effort to help her, they couldn't do much outside of anti-anxiety medication and an endless supply of different gloves to help her conceal it all. They were like armor to hold the curse in, it felt secure, safe...if caging. It's what she deserved.
Anna saw the change in her sister, while she didn't remember what happened the night she went to the hospital, she remembers her sister being more fun and carefree before then, and not always wearing those damn gloves. But now, she knew she was ‘different’ though she couldn't quite put a finger on why. She just saw that she was no longer the ‘Elsa’ she knew, just an illusion that acted like ‘The perfect daughter who happened to be her sister’, no flaws, no imperfections, all actions seemingly calculated. She never acted out, never showed any blatant anger or sadness. As much as the redhead desperately wanted to shake some sense into the taller women, she refrained. Despite the deep longing to have her sister back.
Rumi-
As Rumi grew, she was able to keep her patterns in check for most of her childhood. Pouring her attention into studies, training and learning more about the K-pop world. She even picked up playing guitar and would play everyday if she could. But as time went on and she reached her teen years, the patterns became harder to brush off. Realizing they had grown bigger, she did her best to ignore the growing disgust from within. But one night around the age of 16, it was too much.
Training had been especially rough, her body was ragged, sweaty and sore. She tiredly removed her cover shirt to her tangtop beneath. But her eyes caught herself in the mirror, and to her horror she realized just how far the patterns have grown, becoming bigger and more pronounced than what she recalled. She was hiding so well, why are they bigger??? Tears start to break, her thoughts swarming like angry hornets.
"You're a demon" "A mistake" "Filth that shouldn't be walking the earth." "You're not trying hard enough!" "what would Celine say?"
"You are a DEMON"
She sobs, loudly as her knees hitting the floor as she nearly chokes on her tears. Feeling her nails dig deep into her skin, tearing at the flesh that bared the marks of shame. Not caring as she felt blood flow freely from the wounds, only caring that she felt her nails grow slightly sharper. But it wasn’t long until she realized her body was being shaken by a distressed but disappointed Celine talking to her.
"Rumi, look at me! You need to breathe. Breathe and stop scratching!" She said firmly, trying to get the crying girl to listen.
Rumi could only sniffle, taking a deep breath before pulling her hands away to reveal her blood covered fingers being slightly long, sharp and a greyish purple, She barely caught a disgusted grimace from her guardian as she hesitantly grabbed her hands.
"Come, let's get you cleaned up" she gently pulled Rumi to her feet, leading her to the bathroom to tend to her injuries. Cleaning up the blood that had dripped down her arms.
"Do...do you think they will scar?" the young girl asks tiredly
"Hopefully not...that was foolish Rumi." Celine said firmly, earning a soft and sad whimper from the girl that broke her heart.
"I'm sorry, that was harsh...I'm sorry that you felt the need to do that...You are not one of the demons that we are fighting. You are more than that. You’re a wonderful girl, bright, smart and gifted. Just...hang in there a little longer. Ok?" the older woman states as she bandages the young girl's arms, gently brushing over the bandages to reassure her to the best of the older woman's ability.
"Ok..."
Elsa-
Elsa remembers the day where it all went wrong far too well for her liking, she recalls hearing Anna talking to her parents above her in the kitchen, with her usual joyous attitude.
"See you in two weeks! Please send lots of pictures!" the crimson haired woman demands in an encouraging manner.
"Of course Anna, make sure you stay out of most trouble."
"Don't you mean out of 'all' trouble Iduna?" inquired her father with a deep chuckle.
"Not in the slightest." her mother slyly states, causing her husband to laugh.
She heard them descend down the stairs, she moved to the front door to greet them with a crusty, her way of a hug to them. "Do you have to go?"
"You'll be fine Elsa" Edgar gently encourages
"Just make sure to take care of yourself dear, we'll be back before you know it!" Iduna says with sad eyes, desperately wanting to hug her child before they leave. But respected her boundaries. The two grab their luggage and make their way to the car, as their daughters watch them leave to enjoy their honeymoon. Anna awkwardly watches Elsa who seemed to have zoned out, she wanted to talk to her but not push her. So she started off small.
"Soooo...Wanna order some pizza?" she smiles.
Elsa snaps out of the trance she didn't realize she was in, turning to the younger women and smiling softly back "I'd like that, I'll pay. What would you like?"
Anna's eyes light up, happy that her sister acknowledged her "Omg I know just the type!"
It was 8 pm when Anna and Elsa got the news, and it hit them like a ton of bricks. Their parents had been found dead outside their hotel room, the sisters rushing to the hospital where they were being held, only to be met with fresh corpses. It was an uncanny sight, their parents looked drained, with dark bags under their eyes. Anna sobbed violently, shaking as she fell to her knees at the foot of the beds. How Elsa didn't completely lose control right then and there is a testament to her persistent repression. She comforts her sister to the best of her ability, letting the younger women hug her but withholding returning the physical contact. But the second they got home, Anna tucked into bed and Elsa was isolated, it all came crashing down. For the first time she released her powers, completely covering her room in frost and ice, sobbing as now she felt fully alone, letting the grief and pain rip through her.
The next few days had been rough, sorting out the funeral arrangements and Elsa grappling with the concept of needing to take over for her father rather than pursuing her dreams. But thankfully for them, their parents were looking out for them one last time. Her father’s secretary Greta taking charge and ensuring Elsa that she didn’t need to take over, for he wanted her to become the singer she always wanted to be. Both decided that Destin Mattias would run the company from that point forward, with Mattias promising to Elsa that he would improve the company’s practices, especially in regards to the Northaldra and their land. The girls also had help in the form of their music teacher, Mx Whispers who had been teaching them since high school and had become a close family friend. But little did they know that Raine had knowledge that they didn’t.
One day, they pulled the sisters aside for a talk. Raine stated that what happened to Elsa and Anna’s parents wasn’t an accident, and they were killed by demons. Explaining to them about how demons roamed the world and thanks to the Hunters that fought against them, the world was safe. Along with them offering the sisters an opportunity to become hunters if they wanted to.
With this ground shattering information on their suspicions on what happened to their parents and knowing they can help prevent others from suffering similar faiths, Anna and Elsa accept Raine’s offer.
Rumi-
Rumi had never really had a chance to interact with people her own age often. Sure she'd play with kids on the playground periodically and had encounters with people around her age at the sunlight sister’s meet and greets, but she never really got to socialize with anyone. That was until today, Celine had taken her to the studio to meet some other new artists present. The two women had been starting to look for new members to become hunters, which had been a much more difficult process than becoming a regular K-pop star. But thankfully they had a potential member, a tall magenta haired woman named Mira. She had a growing reputation in the agency, auditioning purely to spite her family and seeing where that takes her. She had a strong personality that was admittedly off putting to the rest of the agents, but it caught Rumi and Celine’s attention. Rumi opens the door to the green room and sees Mira first, standing confidently in front of a poster of Twice. With her turning to greet the stranger who had opened the door. “Annyeonghaseyo, I’m Rumi. And this is my guardian Celine.” Rumi greeted as she introduced herself and Celine to the other women who nods in return “Your Miss Mira I assume?” Celine inquires “That I am. You wanted to see me?”
“Yes, please take a seat and we can discuss what we are looking for.”
The meeting went well, Mira was exactly who they were looking for. She had the personality to be a proper k-pop star that played well off of Rumi’s image. Along with clearly having the physical ability to fight off demons due to her passion for dance, she was picked as their second official member. Rumi was more than happy about it, she really grew to like Mira’s blunt remarks and snarky comments during the interview process. Soon discovering Mira’s softer side and caring nature as the two began to train together, lifting each other up though the harsher days of training under Celine.
The third member was discovered by accident, Rumi had been taking a break from training and had been mindlessly scrolling on youtube. She soon came across a small little channel under the name ZoTurtle, a small Korean American artist who was posting short videos of herself rapping songs she wrote. Interested, she watched the first video on her channel, which soon resulted in some internet stalking and eventually finding Zoey’s soundcloud. Rumi began to listen to her music, and she was very good, and the songs she wrote ranged from exhilarating and powerful to deep and emotional. It was exactly what the group was looking for, swiftly sending Mira who swiftly agreed. It took some time to convince Celine due to the unusual nature of finding talent, but she was willing to give it a try if Zoey met her expectations. The older women reached out and offered an audition to Zoey, which the young girl accepted (assumingly after taking 10 minutes of freaking out and fangirling over THE Celine offering her an audition).
Rumi opens the door to be greeted by the eager young women, jumping up and waving at her. “Hi I’m Zoey, it’s nice to meet you. You’re Rumi right?” “Yes, it’s nice to meet you too” the purple haired woman states with a smile as she lets the other women follow in behind her.
While it was clear Zoey was nervous at the start of the interview, she quickly proved herself to be an amazing fit for the role. She really rounded out the group as far as personalities go, her  creativity poured out like a waterfall, with rapping abilities that would leave others breathless. Rumi and Mira's friendship with Zoey grew quickly, due to the girl’s endless energy and natural charisma. Always the voice of reason and is the first to comfort the others on rougher days.
The group was complete, their training finished and ready to take on the world of kpop.
With Rumi for the first time in a while feeling at peace, belonging. Even if it was an ever fleeting feeling. She was finally a Hunter, ready to take on the world with her two best friends. Even though she knew she was lying to them about what she was. She clung on to this sense of belonging, she can just be greedy and enjoy this for a little while, can’t she?
