'The Batman' Gets Release Date, Ben Affleck Officially Out, More Details Revealed - An exclusive report from Deadline has confirmed that Matt Reeves 'The Batman' will release on June 25, 2021. Matt Reeves, who is writer and director of the project, has chosen to focus his story on a younger Bruce Wayne meaning that Ben Affleck will indeed leave the role of Batman in the DCEU. The project is already in pre-production which means we might get casting news for the film and see who our new Caped Crusader will be sooner rather than later. Matt Reeves confirmed in a THR interview that 'The Batman' will feature multiple villains adding that "there will be a rogues gallery." Reeves also stated that the film will focus in on the world's greatest detective aspect of Batman lore, saying "it's a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale." Production for the film is expected to start late spring/summer 2019, with the tentatively titled 'The Batman' expected to release on June 25, 2021. New Updates On DC's 'New Gods' Film - It was revealed last March that DC and Warner Bros. were developing a film based on Jack Kirby's Fourth World New Gods with Ava DuVernay (@ava) at the helm. Details on the project have been scarce since it was announced, but new plot details have made their way online. Sources "close" to the production say the 'New Gods' film will center around the characters of Mister Miracle and Big Barda escaping together from the Darkseid-ruled Apokolips. It is also said that the military and political conflicts between Apokolips and New Genesis will factor into the film. A separate, exclusive report from Geeks WorldWide states that the main villains of the film will be Granny Goodness and the Female Furies. It should be noted, however, that the film is still being written and that any plot points can still change before pre-production begins. The New Gods are a race of celestial beings, created by Jack Kirby, that belong to the planets Apokolips and New Genesis. Apokolips is ruled by Darkseid and his enforcers, the Female Furies. The Furies are led by none other than Granny Goodness, and previously Big Barda, before she fled the group to be with Mr. Miracle, Darkseid’s adopted son. Tom Hiddleston To Be Narrator Of Dinsey+ 'Loki' TV Series - A new rumor has sprung up online regarding the God of Mischief himself saying that Tom Hiddleston, the current Loki in the MCU, would be the narrator of Loki's life story in the Disney+ 'Loki' series. The studio's priority is getting the Batman character right on the big screen considering that general audiences gave 'Batman v Superman' a polarizing response and 'Justice League' a could shoulder; hence why the studio is not rushing the project. 'Shang-Chi' Film In Development At Marvel Studios - A report from Deadline has revealed that Marvel Studios is fast tracking an adaptation of the Shang-Chi character for a feature film franchise. Marvel Studios has appointed Chinese-American scribe Dave Callaham to write the screenplay for 'Shang-Chi'. Callaham has strong credentials in the superhero world-building realm with his works including 'Wonder Woman 1984', 'Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2', and creating Amazon's recent action series 'Jean-Claude Van Johnson'. The Shang-Chi character was created in the early 1970s by writer Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin. Shang-Chi was created by Marvel Comics' desire to acquire the rights to the TV series 'Kung Fu', which they were denied; instead, they acquired the rights to the villain Fu-Manchu and created Shang-Chi as the son of the villain. 'Shang-Chi' will be Marvel Studios first jump to the Chinese culture which would mark the first time that a Marvel feature film would center around an Asian protagonist. Actress Ella Jay Basco has been cast as the eleven-year-old Cassandra Cain for the upcoming film, according to a new report from Variety. Marvel Studios Sets Production Start Date For 'The Eternals' - A new report from That Hashtag Show states that Marvel Studios has targeted a production start date for 'The Eternals'. The Chloe Zhao helmed film is tentatively scheduled to begin production in September of 2019. If the report is true, then the production start date of September 2019 puts the film on track for a November 6, 2020 release. Marvel Studios is expected to assemble a very diverse cast for the film which is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as Celestials experimented on humans creating two offshoots: the superpowered Eternals and the villainous Deviants. In the comics, the Eternals and the Deviants have battled throughout history to see which would be the ultimate race. The Eternal Sersi, who served as an Avenger for a time, is expected to be one of the film’s leads. In the comics she was known to love living among mortals during her life, even making her way into Greek mythology as the Greek witch Circe. It is expected that she’ll play a major, recurring role and Marvel Studios will be looking to land a unique and diverse star for the role. Since production is starting in September of 2019, it is likely that we will get casting announcements early next summer. RUMOR: Katherine Langford's Role In 'Avengers 4' - Katherine Langford was recently cast in 'Avengers 4', and there is tons of speculation as to what character she will portray. Katherine Langford, best known for her role in '13 Reasons Why', is rumored to be playing the descendant of one of the original six Avengers from around twenty years after the events of 'Avengers: Infinity War'. This lines up with the rumors that Langford will be portraying the grown daughter of Clint Barton, Kate Bishop; but according to MCU Cosmic, Katherine Langford will portray the grown daughter of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Langford has apparently already filmed all of her scenes for the fourth installment of the Avengers franchise. How big of a character Langford's character will play is unknown, but since she would be based in a two-decade future of the MCU, it is likely that we wont see much of the character. In 'Avengers: Infinity War', Tony tells Pepper that he had a dream where they had a son named Morgan. But as the Russo Bros. themselves said, dreams can be mysterious and that dream may not match up exactly with whatever future they’re dealing with in 'Avengers 4' after Thanos wiped out half of the universe.
