Altar moment!

explanation under the cut

so to quickly break everything down, I did a deep clean of my closet and scrubbed it out and emptied it of everything, salt and smoke to cleanse it and announced it as a space for my altar towards both Ophiuchus and Archangel Micheal. Left side is for Ophiuchus specifically, right Archangel Micheal.

the cloth there is just a random towel I found and wouldn’t be missed, I put an aluminum tin’s cover after I heavily cleaned it and cleansed it to act as a tray. My offering bowl is the white one, the cap there was what I’ve been using to gather ash and I also used it to mix something up, some bay leaf ash, black pepper and oils I painted along the area and wrote sigils with for protection. The little green capped cup is just for storage.

The glass box is something I bought on a nostalgic trip with a grandparent, it’s gold and I’ve specifically clarified it as for Archangel Micheal, while the snake is a wooden toy I painted a while ago with a galaxy pattern that is for Ophiuchus. I’ve set the snake on top of the glass box as a sort of representation of the unity. Also, it’s limited curves reminds me a bit of Ophiuchus’s symbol, I really loved that image.the mirror is one I cleansed and drew a sigil on and the notecards are there for whatever I need. On both sides of the mirror is a pair of earrings I was gifted.

Onto the right side, right next to the box is my container of sun water and a golden looking lions head…thing. I’m not sure where I got it to be honest so I cleansed it. Then is some bangles I was gifted, a small golden cap of an old perfume bottle filled with honey (wealth, UPG with angelic beings, success, drive), black pepper (protection, energy) and turmeric (health, energy, earth) on a little wooden block and a coin on top. The big white orb is another light and it’s sitting on a silver bracelet with one on top.

to the left, two rings one with the Pisces symbol on it (UPG that Ophiuchus is a water sign) and the other with stars, and another silver bracelet gift. The light up mirror and a notecard I’ve painted with Ophiuchus’ sign on the front. Blue for water, clarity and honesty, Orange for new connections, and growth, and purple for success and connection. I plan to do a matching one in different colors for Archangel Micheal’s side.

I’m pretty happy with how this came together, honestly, it’s definitely a start! I spent a few hours today just scrubbing every inch of this closet and the surrounding area lol

so spent some time reading today and did a deep clean. I now have a little makeshift altar! Congrats, me. I’ll go into detail about it later. I worry a little bit about rushing but then I remember how like some other Major Life Things that have continued for years this was just simmering in the background for like, 4-5 years in the system waiting to be properly processed and expressed

I need to officially give myself a name, I’ve really been just using the system’s general purpose name for a while now but since I’m established as a long term fronter I want something. They mostly call me Practitioner since I’m, well, it’s pretty plain to see why, and I’m officially the guy Here To Process Spiritual and Religious ThingsTM. The sys actually has some pretty varied views and a lot of scattered experiences/thoughts etc that I’ve been collecting and communicating about. Balancing this with our Issues TM from our upbringing plus things like otherkin and alterhumanity and internal headspace ‘lore’ is going to be a puzzle and a half. It’s already debated for a few things, and I also have to keep in mind of the symptom holders for psychosis. But that’s mostly main-host’s job alongside gatekeeper-host. Me and archvist-host are doing more of the theory and me the practicals. I’m hoping to make sure any interactions my system has with this is safe and pleasant and doesn’t tread on any hotspots.

something that grinds my gears to no end is when people refer to ALL ENTITIES/SPIRITS as deities.

the archangels ((or any angels)) are not deities. the goetic demons are not deities. your spirit guides are not deities.

they are entities. spirits if that’s more comfortable for you. but they are not gods or goddesses so referring to them as such always makes me roll my eyes i’m sorry

genuinely tired of meditation being approached as the be-all-end-all aid for getting into magical or spiritual work. i don't know how to explain to you that some people can't do that. i can't do that. i have adhd, ptsd and did (with memory holders and persecutors) - all of which get thrown into overdrive when i meditate, making me become extremely stressed in a very short amount of time. i also have joint pain and a pretty damn severe neck injury from birth and i can't. i cannot. sit still (or lie down, or stand up, or whatever) for any longer than a few minutes unless i am sleeping.

stop telling me i have to meditate to achieve whatever it is you're trying to sell me.

Also, does anyone have anything, personal writings by yourself or others or guides or just like people to follow etc, that discuss the interactions of being a system and their craft? Feels like a hypothetically big subject to discuss

I have some specific objects I wanna cleanse as tools and find good storage for them. I wanna finish the health and safety section of my BoS, and I have a few PDF copies of books I wanna check out. Lots of interesting topics, making a list of everything I’m interesting in doing, interested in just learning, and or just wanna scope out.

You can write down as many correspondences as you want, memorize entire lists from someone else's blog or book or whatever, but none of it will matter if you do not understand those correspondences. It's so critically important to ask "Why?"

I don’t have a lot of time to do witchy things throughout the week asides from Thur/fri where I have less responsibilities, so I’ve really just been spending the free time I get sort of contemplating my place in things, what I’ve learned in the craft, my personal identity and place within the system and our sort of underlying philosophies and what that says about us and how I want to approach this as well. I wish I had something very insightful and thoughtful to say here but all of it is too long and feels a bit too much to put here. But I can say a little, personally where the majority of the system is rather agonistic towards any spiritual or religious beliefs, I don’t think the connection with this is specifically mine as an individual. It’s a tool that’s connected to all of us and I think a different alter would have a different experience but it would be with the same thing, so now I’m not so worried about being dormant or fused as before! It can be so stressful committing to things when your ability to be conscious of exist at all is untenable but it’s very comforting knowing that it’s rooted in all of us to some extend and that someone else can pick up where I left off :). I’ve been practicing drawing sigils as well and I’ve been getting a little better with the basics. I’m not going to use any I’ve made myself because I’m not 100% but I might burn one I’ve made with some help to bring me some more clarity as I move forward, and use the ash for something later. The full moon is in a few days and I fully plan to take advantage of it. I feel a little guilty for not using some of the free time other days on anything but I have other aspects that need time and space and also I need time to recharge and make sure I’m okay, work while I’m not well or that burns me out or hurts me won’t be helpful!! Things will survive if I postpone them a few days!!

I’m doing more research into dogwhistles and red flags, I don’t know all of them though. The tiring part of social media is really scoping other people out for being terrible. It’s obviously really important and I’ve already known a few from being general dogwhistles.

I’ve been practicing some of the symbols related to A.M/O, might make a stamp because that’s easy and little and shouldn’t tire me out too much. Working with a disability here is so irritating, especially when it affects my hands so much =_=

I don’t really know how my underlying identity fits with this. I might be a conceptive of some sort. Also, slightly related but theres a lot of accidental overlap with things like tulpae being terms for multiple unrelated things! We’ve dabbled before with sentient autonomous system members as well as servitors as non sentient non sapient mental constructs. I wonder if a altar in the headspace would be anything? I’ll ponder that later. I need to also make a comprehensive safety list ^_^ I can be so impulsive that having my BoS with me during my practice helps because obsessively checking that is better than accidentally making myself sick. Note to self, work on that.

I’ve discussed astral projection and things as ‘kin things but I’ve not in this perspective nor have I ever practiced it. By I I mean another alter a long time ago though :p. Anyways I’m personally a bit interested but it might remain on the back burner….except a lot of the weekday work means we sit around without much to do for hours and can’t really do much with our hands so maybe it might come up. Meditation is so hard! I’m like many in the system where breathing exercises are a trigger and I’m working through grounding. It’s weird for me because I’m never normally grounded, it’s not returning to form it’s coming into full contact to an alien body and alien reality and it just feels so repulsive. It’s not as panicky as with others even if it is generally a terrible feeling I don’t hallucinate or have (immediate) panic attacks so I think it is possible…maybe just to shift my meaning a bit and view the vessel as again more of a tool that just needs more direct control and attention for a brief period? Would that work? Hm, more reading up necessary.

Types of Ancestors

We're approaching Samhain so a good time to resurface this one because every year people ask - but what if my ancestors were terrible people?

So a quick rundown of other types of ancestors that we can work with. (The terms aren't mine but rather used in the community. They should help if you want to find more info on a specific type to work with.)

Ancestors of Flesh and Blood are biological ancestors (shared DNA)

Ancestors of Milk and Honey are those who nourish us (adoptive ancestors)

Ancestors of Bone are the ancestors of the land (bones of the earth connection)

Ancestors of Breath and Bread are those we share a vocation, craft or interest with.

Ancestors of Spirit and Soul are those who we share a spiritual path with.

I divide witchcraft into three levels - beginner, intermediate, and advanced, but they often coexist. You are rarely at just one level at a time.

Beginner Witchcraft: the What of magic. This is where you learn the basics, the procedures, the associations, the methods. (When it comes to most divination, I'm here!)

Intermediate Witchcraft: the Why of magic. This is where you question what you have learned to understand it.

Advanced Witchcraft: the How of magic. This is where you take the information you have learned from the previous two categories and learn to use it in your own way.

Example

Beginner Witchcraft: use salt to cleanse.

Intermediate Witchcraft: salt cleanses because it has multiple functional capabilities, including scouring, disinfecting, and absorption.

Advanced Witchcraft: salt is sodium. All forms of sodium have cleansing capabilities. The most absorbant form of sodium is sodium bicarbonate. This box of baking soda has been in my pantry for a few months so, even while closed, it has absorbed some of the protective essence of my home. Therefore I can open the box of baking soda and use it to absorb the negative energies out of my suitcase from this terrible trip. The home energy will capture and negate the away energy. I can then combine the baking soda with vinegar, which is effectively opposite on the pH scale, and which has strong banishing energy, to render both the energies and the chemical composition of the baking soda inert and I can dispose of it safely down my sink.

I don’t think zodiac and star signs really impact people That much but I think my zodiac sign (Gemini) fits perfectly and thus I use it for meaning. I get why people are wary of the issue and I hate it when it’s used prescriptively.

I’m trying very hard to take this slow i swear but here’s what’s happened:

I got into witchcraft because I realized I could use it to explore my connection with Archangel Micheal, which I noticed from signs throughout my life. I did my first jar, and then did my first tarot pull. I decided to focus it better to write my question down, since I didn’t have husical cards, and used salt to cleanse the area, with clove oil and cinnamon . I drew 3. got a ‘yes’, two cards speaking of long connections and the right place and time, and the third was about new connections. The next day I did a draw for an experience I had several years ago when during meditation and inner self work I had an experience where I spoke to something I describe as a cluster of stars who told me to get things together and get back in touch. It identified itself as Ophiuchus. I don’t have the oil or cinnamon so I write it down on a card and decorate the back with symbols and colors, the snake, stars,and Ophiuchus’. I used purple for power and clarity, orange for new beginnings, and blue for honesty. My question is if I have a connection. I pull three cards first, all ‘yes’. I pull another three, all ‘yes’. New connections and risks and destinations. I pull for Archangel Micheal’s feeling on this, three cards and a fourth one after, all ‘yes’ cards about unity and relationships and journey. I pulls. Fourth, it’s my zodiac card, The Lovers.

so not really sure what to do that. I’m doing research and I haven’t done any pulls or anything since. I’d like to dedicate something to Archangel Micheal soon but I’m saving that for alter while I do little spells and research a lot.

advice is welcome (_-_) I really wasn’t expecting a second connection or even a first proper connection at all & it’s a little overwhelming to be honest. I guess I lean towards more cosmic powers lol? Rn plan remains unchanged, gonna wait at a least a few months and use that time to really get more of the basics down and build up my book of shadows before I do much.
