That’s badass! 😱💙😱💙😱
I feel we got somewhat robbed of our WOL becoming a lightwarden or even partially becoming one.
Redesigned Lightwarden Kai for a 3rd time... because why not!!!

Emotionally repressed character confessions!!
☽ "i don’t know how to talk about this without making it a joke." ☽ "i’m not used to people… staying." ☽ "can we just pretend i didn’t say that?" ☽ "i thought if i ignored it long enough it would stop hurting." ☽ "sometimes i rehearse being honest in my head and then never do it." ☽ "i literally have no idea how to ask for help without apologizing." ☽ "i didn’t know it was okay to feel like this." ☽ "do you ever get tired of pretending you're okay?" ☽ "what if i'm just too much and not enough at the same time?" ☽ "i only know how to be fine or silent." ☽ "i’ve never told anyone that before. please don’t look at me like that." ☽ "i don’t want to be alone, but being around people feels like too much too." ☽ "i don’t even know what i’m feeling half the time." ☽ "i’m scared if i let it out, i won’t be able to put it back." ☽ "i didn’t mean to make you worry. i just didn’t think it mattered." ☽ "every time i try to be vulnerable, my body screams abort mission."

(Part 1? lol)This got more ridiculous than I intended but here we are, a little rujinu aquarium date shenanigan inspired by @galaxyspeaking ‘s great aquarium date concept! I have a part 2 sketched out that’s more romantic and sappy but we’ll see if and when I get to it 🐠

Any chance you have any for writing, uh, adult scenes? They're really difficult to implement I feel
writing adult scenes that aren’t cringe, soulless, or weirdly mechanical
first of all, SORRY for the delay responding to this!! i've had this sitting in my inbox like a cryptid under a tarp because i wanted to actually give you something thoughtful and helpful (and not just go "lol same" and vanish into the mist). so. let’s talk ✨writing adult scenes✨ in a way that actually works for the story, not just for shock or spice or vibes.
the biggest challenge with adult scenes (and what makes them feel awkward to write) is that they can’t be written in isolation. they need to grow out of character dynamics, narrative tension, pacing, and tone. otherwise, they feel dropped-in or even emotionally hollow. so here’s a breakdown of how i approach them:
🌙 1. what does the scene do for the story? before writing any intimate moment, ask why this scene needs to happen here. is it a turning point in their relationship? a power shift? a moment of vulnerability? a manipulation? a step toward something breaking or healing? → if the only answer is “it’s time for a sexy scene,” pause and reassess. the strongest scenes usually have subtextual contradiction or tension. two characters who want different things. one character who's lying. one who thinks this will fix something. one who wants to feel nothing but feels too much. etc.
🕯️ 2. tone over terminology. you don’t need to use graphic terms to make a scene powerful. and you don’t need to fade to black to keep it tasteful either. it’s all about what suits your voice + genre + POV. → are you going clinical, detached, raw, euphemistic, poetic, awkward, sensory, or restrained? for example, if your POV character is repressed or emotionally numb, describing the absence of feeling can be more impactful than heat. if your POV is hyperfocused or obsessive, then focus in with close detail on one or two things (the way the other person breathes, touches, reacts). use sensory anchoring to make it immersive: temperature shifts, breath patterns, pressure, skin texture, muscle tension, silence vs noise. this doesn’t mean just listing body parts, it means grounding every action in how it’s being experienced.
💔 3. stay in character. your characters don’t become blank slates just because the clothes are off. this is a moment where everything about them should heighten, their pasts, fears, walls, wants, emotional limits. → how do they usually communicate (or avoid communication)? how do they handle vulnerability or control? if one of them is more experienced and the other is nervous, that’ll shape their pacing, their responses, even their internal monologue. if it’s two people with history (or tension or resentment), that should bleed through too. even breath can be laced with emotional weight if you write it in character.
🔥 4. skip the step-by-step. you do not need to narrate every movement or article of clothing. that’s where scenes start to feel mechanical or awkward. → instead: zoom in on a few potent, emotionally-loaded actions or lines of dialogue. linger on what those moments mean to the character. you’re not writing a how-to manual, you’re writing a turning point in intimacy, trust, conflict, or emotional unraveling. if you need to, write the whole thing once clinically just to get the beats down. then go back and revise it for tone and feeling.
💡final notes from me:
if you're writing in 1st person, filter everything through that character’s emotional lens. if they're overwhelmed or dissociating, show that. if they're hyperaware, describe what draws their eye.
awkwardness isn’t bad! sex can be weird or fumbly or vulnerable or funny. don’t sand down the edges unless your characters are perfect robots.
don’t try to make it universal. make it specific. what does this character notice? how do these two people move around each other? what are they afraid to say out loud?
i hope this helps!! and if you ever want examples, writing exercises, or scene critiques, feel free to send more asks 🖤

Physical things to give characters personality
(Found on Pinterest ages ago)
- How they smile
- What their "tell" is for lying
- Their posture
- How loud they talk (if verbal)
- Their nervous tics
- How much eye contact they hold
- In a group conversation, how close do they stand to others? Are they off to the side just listening and occasionally speaking or are they right next to people?
- What do they do with their hands when speaking? Talk with their hands, cross their arms, put hands in pockets, prop up against the wall, etc
- Nonverbal greetings: do they wave, nod, hug, glare, punch, high five, something else?
- How do they get others' attention? Raise hand, clear throat, etc

Yes, and I’m hoping that longing with come to fruition soon.
To the thorn in my side, this too shall pass.
are u ever sick w longing. and i don't just mean romantic longing. i mean longing for a place you barely get to see, longing for friends you no longer have, longing for feelings you might have left behind in your childhood, longing for creativity, longing for a rich and more expansive life, longing for less inhibition. longing for more passion. longing for ur life to be so incandescent w something it thaws all the frost in ur bones. are u ever so consumed w it it rends ur heart in two. do u understand me

Soooo I got inspired by fellow FFXIV player, @sweetvanilledani to do a background story of sorts on my characters. I finished T’uula’s so here it is and I hope it’s not too flat. Also I do switch tenses a lot, sorry in advance 🤣
T’uula Callisto
Originally from the Azim Steppe, she came into the care of the Mol Tribe after being found half drowned in a nearby river at the age of six.
The patterns on her clothes suggested she came from the Kagon Tribe, and that she may have been separated during a night migration.
As she got older, her knack for getting into fights with the older tribesmen led the elders to believe she could be of Dotharl descent; a reincarnation of one of their fallen warriors.
In her teen years, she started having visions of a time well before hers. She dismissed them as possible past life memories. But when the visions started showing much different lands than the Steppe, she went to the elders for guidance. They were aware of some phenomena called the Echo but rarely ever discussed it openly as it contrasted with their beliefs of the Dawn Father and Dusk Mother. Nevertheless, the elders saw it as a sign for her to journey to Eorzea.
Upon arriving in Kugane, she finds a merchant ship bound for Eorzea and hitches a ride, not prepared for the rough seas ahead.
Thanking the gods after making port in Limsa Lominsa, T’uula explores the area with the extra time granted to her before heading off to Gridania.
None of the jobs offered in the port town seem to align with her pole-arm skills; but she takes an interest in both Blacksmith and Armorer, and decides to come back later to enlist in both guilds.
The airship ride over Gridania was pleasant enough; her curiosity over the set of elezen twins also traveling to Gridania, kept the trip interesting.
Gridania’s a whole different environment than the Steppe—a new sense of vibrancy for the young au-ra.
She finds the Lancer guild and starts to feel more comfortable knowing her weapon of choice has a chance of being improved upon.
However, being in a different place made her penchant for fighting increase—if not for the interference of Yda and Papalymo, T’uula would’ve most assuredly been sent back to the Steppe.
They bring her to the base of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, where she learns more about the visions she’s been having and of the Echo. She has a better understanding as to why the elders were so adamant about sending her off.
Her first major assignment is defeating the primal named Ifrit. While she was used to fighting creatures much larger than herself, this primal was a god; even she had her doubts about completing the task. But she does it, and with that victory, comes two more primals to contend with, Titan and Garuda.
Her life is swept up in a series of victories, betrayals and heavy losses with the introduction of the Ascians, and the growing power of the Garlean empire. And once again, she finds herself in a new place.
If T’uula thought Gridania was vastly different from the Steppe, Coerthas provided even more of a contrast in regards to climate and atmosphere.
Clad in a constant chilly and almost bleak background, the lands north of Gridania were harsh to say the least.
And T’uula absolutely hated the cold, it made her more grumpy and prone to tussles with the locals.
While traveling to Camp Dragonhead, the trio—T’uula, Alphinaud, and Tataru—stop in a small town located just south of Boulder Downs. Both Alphinaud and Tataru strike up conversations with the locals to get an idea of what the area is like, while T’uula tries to make the most of the situation and partake in a warm drink. The pleasantness of the warm drink is cut short as an elezen starts to poke fun at her shivering in the cold.
She’s about to snap when a hyur steps in to diffuse the potential brawl.
Take a wild guess as to who the hyur is that steps in 🤣 So basically I’m doing background stories for both up to where they first meet each other. The way I kinda have them is that T’uula was granted the Echo but Scott wasn’t, he sorta tags along with her because her adventuring path seemed waaaay more interesting than whittling the time away in Coerthas. Plus he helps her around the Coerthan terrain.

"I want to kiss you but also maybe punch a wall about it." OC behaviors
❤ he looks at her mouth mid-conversation and immediately pretends he didn’t.
❤ she laughs a little too hard at his bad joke and then bites her lip like it’ll keep the real feelings in.
❤ he adjusts his shirt collar even though it doesn’t need adjusting. the air got hotter for some reason??? (hormones.)
❤ she crosses her arms, uncrosses them, then tucks her hands in her back pockets. because what do you even do with your hands when he’s standing that close?
❤ he leans in to say something and she doesn’t hear it, on purpose, just to make him do it again, closer.
❤ her laugh is quieter now. more private, like it’s just for him.
❤ he bumps her shoulder “accidentally” but makes zero effort to move away after.
❤ her pinky brushes his. it’s .02 seconds of contact but now neither of them can remember what they were talking about.
❤ he tugs on the end of his sleeve while staring at the floor because if he looks up he’ll 100% say something reckless.
❤ she says his name a little too softly. a little too slowly and now he’s useless for the rest of the scene.
❤ they both start talking at the same time, then stop, then smile, then look away, then freak out internally for the next five pages.
