Possum here! That's definitely a screen name, but I enjoy it. This is where I'm trying to essentially keep my witchcraft journey on track until I get a proper grimoire, and even then, I like the access on the go. Either way, I'm a baby witch forging their path and I hope you can learn along with me! I'm not an expert but I hope something here is useful for you!

Divination with Dice:
Dice by: crystalmaggie on esty

Astragalomancy, also known as astragyromancy, is a form of divination that uses dice specially marked with letters or numbers.
Much like the playing card, dice or dice like objects were used by multiple oppressed groups throughout history! They were ways for those oppressed by the church to keep their tradtions and beliefs in secret.
This divination practice has been around for centuries the oldest dice like set we know right now are from ancient Persia from the area of modern Iran and they are approximately 5000 years old.
We'll start with and their meanings in the way that I was taught. So mind you, this is simply the way I was taught their meanings.
So well go all the way up to 20:
1. No
2. Yes
3. No, be wary
4. self-expression and self-fulfillment.
5. Only if you are careful.
6. Don´t be afraid to take chances.
7. inner wisdom, self-awareness, intuition and mysticism.
8. Eternity and inner steadiness.
9. Enlightenment or answers will come.
10. Spiritual enlightenment and spiritual awakening.
11. Insight and understanding
12. Growth.
13. Death and change.
14. Reassurance from your guardians.
15. Wisdom and manifestation.
16. New beginnings and renewal.
17. Good fortune and a complete victory.
18. Breaking free of what binds you and encouragement.
19. The beginning and the end, aka you're most likely very much screwed.
20. Confidence, determination, optimism, and positivity.
You can also use even and odds for simple yes and no.
Odds = No
Even = Yes

rune reading made easy
Here’s why you should get your own rune set and how to use it. Yes, Minor Arcana can suffice just fine for very short term, practical predictions… But what about daily life in detail? Runes are the most accurate and quickest way to gain control of your everyday life right from the smallest things.
They can be drawn on their own or featured in Tarot readings and other divination forms: a single rune can clarify the meaning of a card more effectively than any other tool at your disposal.
The ancient who conceived futhark alphabets have assigned simple and concrete meanings to each figure: that’s why they’re easy to understand. By combining them together, one could be able to create more advanced phrases. Runes should be kept inside a dark/opaque bag or box that won’t allow anybody to see them from outside. Runic readings should take place in the morning, as they will warn you about what to watch during that specific day.
1. Shake the sachet and draw one rune at a time blindly.
2. Once you pick the runic symbol, read its straight-forward meaning and keep it in mind without trying to metaphorically interpret it.
3. If you want, you can carry the rune with you in a safe pocket or in your bag; it helps you stay aware and the rune stone/coin itself protects you in some way.
4. Keep in mind the meaning of the rune religiously: it is warning you about specific objects, events or people.
E.G. (happened to me last month lol):
I wake up in a super good mood, have breakfast and pick one rune from my sachet. This rune is raidō. I decide that “ok whatever lets just go out, take the family car and drive to this event, the sun is shining today”. I get out of the parking lot, all was fine, no crashes, no crazy noises… but after 6 minutes of driving my car had a flat tire. And I was shocked in the middle of nowhere waiting for help.
The rune was basically trying to tell me “hey yo, check your tires before you jump in the car ‘cause yesterday somebody slashed them or maybe a family member accidentally drove onto something pointy and hard”.
I call dad to seek some kind of comfort and he goes “yes, I was expecting that to happen…” and explains how something may have pierced the left tire on the rear (the one gone flat, I got chills) on the way back home from the countryside.
In this case, I should’ve checked the state of the car beforehand and/or ask a family member if all was ok with the car. A simple thing, which I just overlooked despite a super specific raidō showing up in my quick 1-rune morning reading.
That’s only a small example of how runes can prevent you from getting into trouble on a daily basis.
So lovelies, please give em a try if you feel weak or lost in general. These beautiful symbols will guide you through. ♡

I reblogged to the wrong blog 🙃
🌋Runes🌋
Runes are often times made from stone, crystal, or wood, and are used as a tool in divination. Most runes are comprised of a set of 24 ancient alphabetic symbols, and are typically kept in a bag or box.
Runes can be used to help guide you through problems or issues and help show you what is likely to happen, being a way to predict the future or see obstacles and omens in ones life. They’re not a form of fortune-telling and don’t offer exact answers or give you advice — rather they offer different variables and suggest how you could behave if the event does occur.
Runes are known for hinting towards answers, but leaving you to work out the details, which is where intuition is helpful. The idea behind the way that runes work is that, as you ask a question or think about an issue, your conscious and unconscious minds are focused.
When the runes are cast in front of you, they’re not totally random, but are choices that have been made by your subconscious.

◈Tarot tips◈
When it comes to shuffling and laying out your cards I get the feeling that the general opinion is that there is just one way of doing it, and let me tell you I am no fan.
Here is a list of different ways you can pick the cards for your reading; these are the ways I’ve tried and I am sure there are more out there so feel free to add to the list. Just remember that when it comes to tarot there is no right or wrong way, just find what works for you and what feels right.
↠ Shuffle & draw
This is the most common one where you shuffle until you feel you are done and then lay out the cards one by one. You can cut the deck, end with taking the top three cards and put them at the bottom of the deck or vice versa, or some other variation of this. Do what feels correct to you. Just remember to flip the cards horisontally- this goes for all styles of doing this (or your cards will be opposite of how you drew them)
↠ Pop out
Here you shuffle while asking the deck the questions of each card you wish to draw. Say you’re doing the Past, present, future reading you start out with concentrating on or vocalizing the past-question until a card flies/pops/falls out of the deck -mind if it landed upright or reversed- and then go on to shuffling for your next question. This is a bit more time consuming and I only use this for a maximum of 4-card readings but it gives very accurate readings and is a good way of doing it if you want more guidance from the deck/your guides instead from your own intuition.
↠ Feel your way
Just shuffle the deck and then spread it out infront of you so you can see at least a little bit of every card. Center yourself, take a deep breath and close your eyes. Stretch out your hands, now here you’ll have to do some trial and error before you find out what works best for you, some use both hands, some their projective and some their receptive hand- whatever works best for you- and then just let your hand/hands roam over the cards and let your intuition guide you to what card to pick. Do this for every card in your reading.
↠ Pick them out
This is my personal favourite because it’s a mixture of my own intuition and outer guidance. It’s a lot like Pop out but a lot less time consuming. Instead of waiting on a card to pop out you take notice on the behaviour of certain cards. Ask the deck your question and start shuffling. Pay mind to if a card either pokes out an unusual amount or if a card just doesn’t want to get back in the deck; so you’re getting guided but you also have to trust your intuition. This has shown to give the most accurate readings for me, but it’s very individual so allow yourself to play with it for a while, especially if you’re new to tarot; get to know your deck, bond with it etc.
Happy reading!

i wanted to take a moment to share one of my favorite songs to listen to when I engage in my magic. I’ve been slowly adding all the songs I enjoy into one big playlist, but I don’t have that yet. Something about this song sends chills down my arms and up my spine. I don’t know why but it just pulls me in. If you were to ask me what song feels like magic, its this one. I don’t know how to explain it, but I hope someone out there enjoys it as much as I do.

Energy Work 101
I want to touch on something that comes rather easily to me, and that’s energy work. The universe has kind of an ebb and flow, a push and a pull. Everything has its own energy, the trees, the soil, the flowers, the squirrels and foxes and everything else on the planet. That means us too. As humans we have our own energy we can tap into, it’s the basis of my personal craft and how I tap into my other abilities. We can use this energy to connect with other living things, charge items like crystals, and so much more. Personally when I read my tarot I base it off of intuition and energy, so I’ll draw my energy into my hands while I shuffle, visualizing sending it into my deck and seeking the clear answer I desire. I wanna go over a couple of different things, and might make it a little mini-series style, just to make sure I get everything covered. It might take a week or so to get it but I estimate about 3 parts based off of terminology/basic information, uses for your energy, and then how to connect with/strengthen it, and where that can lead you in your craft.
If anyone has anything they wanna see in the series, I’d love to hear it! I’d also love to see reblogs with information on how you use your energy so I can try it too! Besides, I’m always looking for witchy blogs to support so it might help me find some really cool people!

Shadow work is a really big part of your spiritual journey. It’s heavy work, and it involves getting deep into your past, opening up old wounds, and rehealing the right way. I’ve been through a lot in my time on this planet, and I wanted to start unpacking it all. I want to like who I am, and love who I can be. Shadow work not only helps me heal, but it helps me connect to myself and my inner power. It lets me find my strength. I’m not sponsored or anything, and if you’re not ready to do shadow work then you shouldn’t, but this is the website I’ve been using to get started on my spiraling journey inward. May I find my true power, and may you find yours too.

420 Friendly Witch Tips
Just so you know, I’m of age in a state where weed is legal. If you’re not in a legal area or age range, I wouldn’t recommend this. And it’s not for everyone! If you’re not interested that’s more than okay! It’s YOUR craft for a reason! I’ve just tailored mine to me a little bit here too.
I smoke on a pretty regular basis, both recreationally and for things such as anxiety and other mental health reasons. I’ve realized that there are a lot of reasons it has such a calming effect. It could be breath work, could be visual stimulation from the smoke swirls, it could be that it’s easier to let my thoughts come and go without lingering on them. Either way, I realized that I could incorporate that zen into my craft. Here are some of the ways I do that!
1. Moon water in your bong
2. smoke cleansing your space/crystals,etc
3.Visualizing internal cleansing as you inhale and exhale
4. Add intent to each hit. After all, you’re taking a deep breath, why not focus your energy on something you’d like to come to fruition? I manifest a clear, level head.
5. I haven’t quite worked with deities yet, but I’ve seen many others say that sharing or dedicating a bowl to your deities can be something they like, depending on who you work with. I don’t know much about deities, so I’ll stop here.
6. Ashes. Weed ashes can be used in spellwork, similar to incense ash and other forms.
7. I personally like to smoke a little, meditate for a moment, and then do a couple of tarot readings. I find I’m more open when I smoke
8. In reference to number 7, I also bought a smoke blend meant to be mixed with weed (or tobacco but that’s not my vibe), that has things like mugwort, lavender, valerian, and more that’s specifically used to help open the third eye and your senses. I bought through the company called Bear Blend (not a sponsor, I honestly don’t think they know I exist). I chose this brand since it’s a small indigenous run business, and as a small town native person, I tend to support as many indigenous businesses I can.
I hope this was helpful, and remember to please make wise decisions based on the laws in your area. I don’t recommend this to anyone underage or in a place where it is illegal. If you choose to make an unwise decision, please don’t hold me liable. And again, if its not your cup of tea, don’t worry about it! Your craft is for you to enjoy.

Sometimes I forget that spiritual growth is tied in with your personal growth. I’ve been feeling so spiritually stagnant lately and today I noticed a block in how I’ve been growing and healing from the traumas my life has handed me. I bought a deck of tarot cards months ago that didn’t connect with me in the slightest at the time, but once my life had successfully been completely uprooted to the satisfaction of whatever higher power, it started reaching out. I’ve been called to this deck often lately, despite not getting a chance to listen. Something just told me to buy the deck, so I did. And it sat there. Its “The Black Tarot”, and I’m not sure of its creator or past or anything, but I think it found me because I need to start doing some shadow work. Sometimes messages take a while to get through, but they’re still there for a reason.

Let's talk about Intent today. Doing things with Intent is something I mentioned earlier, but I'd like to provide a bit more detail. Using intent is one of the easiest forms of witchcraft for me, and one of the quickest and easiest to keep quiet if you're not open about your craft yet. One of the things I do daily is stir my coffee counterclockwise to keep negative energy away throughout my day, and then I'll close my eyes and stir the coffee clockwise, envisioning positivity, love, light, and peace. Once you feel you've stirred well enough, take a sip and imagine a little bubble of safety around you. This really tends to help on my hard days, and when I'm low on energy it's still a pretty easy option. I hope this helps another baby witch out there!

Its just a short post since I'm on my break, but for those of us neurodivergent witches or empaths, or anyone who might just wanna block unwanted energy, try veiling! Mine is really simple, it's a beanie from hot topic that I wear with the intent to keep harmful, unwanted, negative energies separate from my own. Veiling helps me deflect and protect myself from things that don't serve me, but it can also be a subtle style statement! Good for any witch in the broom closet too!!!

Everyday Acts of Witchcraft
I find it personally important to stay connected to my craft on a day to day basis, since I’m the type of person who lets things fall to the wayside sometimes, so I like to do small acts of magic in my everyday life. Even if it’s not something big and fancy and done up, it’s still keeping connection with my spiritual self. If I’m being honest, I’ll probably update this list at some point in the future, but I just wanted to gather some of the things I tend to do daily in one spot. It makes it easier for me to find and just might help someone who’s looking to do the same thing. I’m DEFINITELY still learning and still on the path of discovery for my craft, but I figured that jotting things down can’t hurt, and sharing information could be useful to someone. Without further ado, here are some of my mundane magicks.
Tarot App
I’m someone who’s always busy. Always going somewhere or doing something, its mostly work but I don’t think my boss would like me pulling out my deck of tarot cards in the back of a Starbucks. The app sends me a reminder for my daily reading, and you have access to a couple of different spreads with an easy interface to use. It lets me shuffle my cards and choose at my pace, which is something I really appreciate. I have a Samsung, and the app I use is Galaxy Tarot. While I prefer the traditional deck by far, its useful on the run.
Moon Calendar
I like having a moon calendar handy to keep track of moon phases. It’s a lot easier to forget I have an app on my phone and check it when I remember I have it than to google it every time. You could also keep this in a notebook or mark it on a normal calendar as well.
Intent
I do multiple things with specific intent throughout the day. Sometimes its a shower with the intent of scrubbing off negativity and starting anew, other times it could be stirring my tea clockwise to invite positivity and warmth into my life. Tailor it to your task and you can do almost anything with intent like this.
Cleansing/Cleaning
Okay, hear me out. Clutter messes with my head a lot, I feel off my game and my mood plummets in a messy area. I tend to notice a stagnant vibe and the energy of the room feels off as well. I tend to clean my space with the intent of banishing any negative energy or energy that no longer serves me positively. Sometimes I light candles or incense while I clean, sometimes I light sage, sometimes I blast music, it depends on the day. Cleaning my space and cleansing my space go hand in hand most times though.
Research
I try to devote a little bit of time out of every day to look into a topic that interests me and learn more about it. It keeps me learning and growing, and it tends to be more fun than I think it will be.
I know there are more things to add but I can’t think of them for the life of me. Either way, its a good reference point to look back on if I need to, and its not long to read! If I think of any more I’ll be sure to add them!

Baby Witch Full Moon Guide!!!
With the full moon coming tomorrow night, I thought this might be a good time to make my very first post here on Possum’s Grimoire. I started this blog as a way to keep and organize information for personal use as I learn and grow into my own craft. I’m not trying to teach anyone, but by using a blog I always have access to the information I might need, and its less tedious than constantly carrying a notebook. If you find some of my content useful, feel free to use and reference it, but please keep in mind that I started this for my own learning journey. Maybe we can learn together though, right?
I’ve rambled long enough, so let’s get down to it. As a baby witch myself, I’m gonna start by just listing some of the things I like to do for a full moon. I wouldn’t call it a ritual necessarily, but its what works for me.
Smoke Cleansing
I try not to call this smudging in the witchcraft community, but please keep in mind that I am indigenous, so smudging is part of my culture. Either way, smoke cleansing can be done with sage, incense, and other forms of smoke depending on your preferences. I live in a state where it’s legal to smoke weed, so I also smoke cleanse with smoke from that. I like to just ground myself, take a couple deep breaths to get centered, find my intention, and light my sage. I typically light it with the intent to remove any negativity, prevent negativity from entering the space, and with the intent of protecting my space and my energy. I cleanse my doorway, above and around my bed, my window, my clothes, any tarot cards or crystals that may need it, my purse, and my favorite coffee cup. I cleanse the purse and cup simply because they essentially go everywhere with me and pick up a LOT of vibes and energy after a while. I like to start with a clean slate. If I’m feeling up to it I smoke cleanse my car, but that’s only occasionally.
Tarot
I consider myself a pretty intuitive person and tarot has come pretty easily for me from my teenage years. After I cleanse my deck, I smoke a little bit (mentioned above and completely optional), light my candles, and spend some time with my deck. I read on whatever comes to mind. It could be how this next moon phase will look for me, it could be about personal struggles, interpersonal relationships, whatever you find your brain gravitating back to. The full moon seems to heighten my receptivity to messages I need to hear.
Moon Water
Okay, so when I say baby witch, I mean that for a little over a year I’ve been doing research and small acts of practice. I was too busy for much more than the basics, and if I wasn’t busy I was exhausted. I really wish I would have learned about moon water sooner, because its so versatile but so easy to make. I use it in my glass pipes (again, my state is legal and this is completely optional), my tea, baths, lemonade, some cooking, spellwork, and there’s so much more you can do with it. I was intimidated by it, and by my lack of experience and knowledge, but it’s easier to do than I had imagined. You take a clear container, jar, bottle, etc. Basically a closeable container of sorts, and you fill it with water. Since I drink mine I use tap or filtered, remember to be safe if you’re consuming things. If you’re not drinking it, the water choice is up to you! You fill your container and put it in the windowsill once the sun goes down, somewhere it’ll be under the full moon. Just leave it there and make sure to take it out before the sun comes up the next day. I’m sure it could get fancier but I try to keep it simple. When you put your water out, you can also set the crystals you cleansed earlier in the window to be charged under the full moon as well.
Baths
Okay so I know this might be a little unconventional but I take baths on the full moon, light my sage, candles and incense. I use epsom salt, bubble bath, bath bombs, bath teas, and bath oils depending on my intent, in varying scents. I get in and just meditate, visualize, and tune into my higher self. I also visualize washing away any unwanted energy or things that no longer serve me.
This isn’t necessarily witchcraft, but I try to incorporate self care into what I do. As a witch who struggles with mental health and burnout often, I find that the self care under the full moon leaves me feeling more replenished. So if you want to read tarot with a face mask, do it! You’re prioritizing your happiness and energy, and that’s powerful too.
Like I said, its just bare bones of what you can do during a full moon, but its something! I hope this was useful to someone, even if that’s just future me.
