Everyone's always so fucking quick to be concerned about how Andrew is a danger to others that they don't clock how he's the biggest danger to himself. BUT NEIL DOES. On top of that, everyone always believes that Andrew is perfectly willing and capable of protecting himself, I mean he's protected all of his family for years now so of course he is right? WRONG. While Andrew likes to act like he can take perfect care of everything including himself, and while he really IS capable of taking care of himself, in reality he just doesn't give enough of a fuck about himself to take proper care.

Then the whole "If it means losing you then no" HUHHH???? MIND YOU THIS WAS BEFORE THEY WERE ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED. LIKE???

No because Neil is a man who is used to having things taken from him (if he ever had anything to call his own in the first place, that is) and now he's finally FINALLY found something that he can hold onto if only for a little while before what he believes is the inevitable end, and that thing is Andrew mf Minyard (and the foxes in general really, but mainly Andrew yk), and he was willing to go through LITERAL HELL just for the chance to keep him safe (the fact that after all that Andrew still wasn't kept safe fucking kills me but that's a whole other rant), and after going through everything, here he is saying that he'd do it all again to not lose him.

AND THEN Andrew goes in with the "You were supposed to be a side effect of the drugs". Was NEIL meant to by a side effect of the drugs or were YOUR FEELINGS FOR NEIL meant to be a side effect????? HUH ANDREW????

Love how when Neil finds out Andrew's gay not only is he not phased at all, but his immediate thought is that Andrew and Kevin are dating, and then he proceeds to be completely shocked at the news that Kevin has a girlfriend. He really looked at the possibility of Kevin and Andrew being in a secret gay relationship and went "oh yeah that would make much more sense than Kevin having a girlfriend".

Rereading aftg for the hundredth time right now, and I'm at the point in trk where Renee tells Neil that her mom got killed in prison, and Neil's first thought is "Damn I'm jealous, I wish the inmates at my dad's prison weren't such pussies and actually worked up the courage to kill him". Unhinged doesn't even begin to describe this man.

I feel like as a fandom we don't appreciate enough how much of an absolute DIVA Kevin Day is. Every time I reread aftg I always find it so funny how most of the foxes never saw Neil as the unhinged son of a bitch that he was. Like this is the same guy that wanted to keep using the racquet that was used as a literal MURDER WEAPON simply because it "didn't kill anyone important" .
