It’s really just a reskinned version of the tea metaphor, but since we’re almost into the “are aromantics and asexuals allowed at pride” discourse phase of Pride Month, I’ve been thinking about cake.

Some people really don’t like cake. It’s just too much sugar. It’s got a bad texture, etc.

Some people only like cake sometimes. They’ve gotta be in the right mood for it.

Some people don’t like cake, but if their favorite person makes them cake they’ll eat it.

Some people feel pretty neutral about cake. They might eat it, they might not.

Some people are really particular about their cake. Maybe it needs a specific brand of frosting.

Some people only like eating cake with close friends.

Some people will never eat cake, but like reading cake recipes and thinking about cake.

Some people have eaten cake before and didn’t like it, and aren’t willing to try it again.

Some people find even the thought of cake gross.

I hope that makes sense. However people feel about cake is valid, and in a world where most people like cake, it can be hard to feel included and understood.

Aromantics and Asexuals belong at Pride.

what made you love tordedd sm? im really curious as ive been trying to learn more about how they act around eachother as well as their appeal!

sorry anon, i accidentally wrote an essay🧍

besides the fact that i’ve always had an emotional-support ship that i intensely hyperfixate on every few years, tordedd is most appealing to me because of their dynamic.

to start, they’re an iconic duo. you’ll notice that a lot of the older episodes or short animations either only star them, or heavily focus on their interactions (like the dudette next door, tord’s adventure, f is for fun, breakfast, faster than a bullet, zombeh attack 2, etc). they don’t hesitate to take jabs at each other or even fight to the death over something petty like a slice of bacon. at the end of the day, though, they’re still two peas in a pod.

branching off of that, to me it’s clear that tord is edd’s favorite. don’t get me wrong, edd loves all of his friends a lot, but tord is extra special to him. i notice it in the little moments, like when we’re shown edd’s nightstand in zombeh attack 3 and there are two framed photos: one of the whole group, and one of tord. or when edd was the last to stay at tord’s burial in zombeh attack 2 (the only time we ever see edd cry in the show, btw). or in tord’s adventure when he knew tord would fall for the ragebait image he sent him and come to his house to get revenge, only to use it as a way to get him to sit with him at the beach.

edd doesn’t only appreciate tord — he loves him in a selfless and unconditional way. in zombeh attack 2, he helps tord find the necronomicon so he can finally rest in peace. edd looks sad to see him go at the end of the episode, but he followed through and helped tord because that’s what was best for him. how about when tord returned after 8 years (i’m not sure how time works in eddsworld so i’m just going off of the actual real-life time that passed lol)? he was overjoyed and quick to welcome him with a hug, with no bitterness or resentment at all. up until tord aquired his robot, edd still saw their relationship as salvagable, and was willing to pick back up where they had left off. he loved tord like a dog until tord told him to his face that he didn’t want to be his friend anymore, and he finally had to let go.

let’s talk about tord’s side, too. edd seems to be this exception for him. he’s arguably the only one in the group tord spends quality time with, and we see him loosen up and smile with edd the most. we don’t see him have the same fun with tom or matt, as they don’t seem to care for him as much as edd does, so he clings to edd’s side (he can be observed quite literally doing so in zanta claws haha).

for tord, edd is also the beacon of his morality. tord’s character has this very subtle dichotomy: he either stays by edd’s side and becomes the best version of himself, or leaves edd and becomes an evil megalomaniac. this is first seen all the way back in the 2005 christmas special; edd’s guardian angel shows him that in a world where he never existed, tord became a communist leader who tried to take over norway. fast-forward to the end (parts 1 and 2), it’s seen that after a prolonged period of time without edd, tord makes strides to dominate the world without a care for his old friends. he blows up their house and tries to kill tom, who got in his way. i theorize that tord left in the first place because he had dreams of being in the army — after all, his departure took place right after the moving targets episode, where he seemed to be the only one enjoying himself. but after all those years without his morality pet (edd), those dreams got distorted and became a desire for world domination. or maybe he had always wanted to conquer the world, but edd actively kept him in check. it’s a sweet and funny concept.

however, it’s also a tragic one. in the end, tord’s final choice was his love of violence and his desire to be a powerful leader, and that came at the cost of edd. it came at the cost of the person he loved the most, and the person who loved him the most. after he’s defeated, he sits alone on the cliff and is forced to gaze upon the mess he’s made and the bridges he’s burned. he sits there as he watches edd, matt, and tom walk away until he can’t see them anymore. you can only wonder what’s going through his head as the scene is silent.

so with all this information at hand, what am i left with? i’m left with a dynamic i’ve never seen between two characters before. i could just acknowledge their epic friendship and move on, but after watching all the cute moments between them as well as their tragic downfall, i couldn’t help but to see them as more than friends. edd even hesitates to call what they had a friendship when he confronts tord in his robot.

from what i can remember, i started shipping them a couple of months into becoming an eddhead. around mid-july of 2020, i think. i had a really short tomtord phase but the more i rewatched the show, the blander the ship became in my eyes — meanwhile, i started to adore the dynamic and chemistry between tord and edd. the rest was history from there.

so um yeah that’s the appeal, anon. tordedd ftw 💥

II season 1 remaster

Honestly I really liked the first episode. It manages to hit the perfect middle ground of changing enough to improve the writing while not changing so much to be take it out of the episode. The joke with Mephone4's voice to make up for the fact they couldn't reuse the old voice was genuinely funny especially with the joke of Knife purposefully failing to make him change to his modern voice.

Help a Family in Need

I am reaching out on behalf of my dear friend, Mohamad S., who is facing one of the most challenging times of his life. Mohamad is 37 years old and left his homeland in 2015 in search of a safer and better future. He’s a kind, hardworking man, and his small family has always been his greatest priority.

Living abroad, Mohamad has recently endured unimaginable loss and financial strain. Amidst the ongoing conflict in his homeland, his mother passed away, leaving behind his sister and her five young children—the last remaining members of his immediate family.

As the situation worsened, Mohamad managed to help his sister and her children escape to safety in Egypt, covering their immediate needs and securing a temporary refuge for them. Since then, he has been fully responsible for providing everything they need to survive during this transition.

In his efforts to support his family and cope with this devastating loss, Mohamad has found himself deeply in debt. To make matters even more difficult, he recently underwent knee surgery, which limits his ability to return to work for the foreseeable future. This has made it even harder for him to manage his financial responsibilities and the pressing need to provide his family with a stable future.

Mohamad is now working to bring his sister and her five children to join him in Belgium, where he hopes they can find stability and opportunity after all they’ve endured. This transition, however, requires significant resources that he is currently unable to meet alone.

For privacy reasons, we are not sharing Mohamad’s full name, as he has chosen to keep his identity discreet. While he initially refused the idea of asking for help, I couldn’t stand by and watch him struggle alone. I insisted on doing this for him because he deserves a chance to overcome these challenges.

Your contribution will help Mohamad repay the debt incurred during this difficult time, cover ongoing living expenses for his family, and assist with the costs involved in bringing them safely to Belgium.

Mohamad has been a good friend of mine for years, and I’ve always admired his resilience and generosity. Any support, no matter the size, will make an incredible difference in helping Mohamad and his family rebuild their lives after these painful experiences.

Aro Tord discussion

Something I've been thinking about recently is the thought that Tord while feeling sexual attrition feels no romantic attraction to others and gets very awkward if anyone assumes he's dating one the other housemates not really knowing how to respond. I know I write a lot EddTord stuff but I thought this idea was interesting. Any thoughts?
