Why are hogwarts houses misunderstood?

Ravenclaws are known to be bright, creative, witty etc. But for some reason, some headcannons make them look like anti-social bookworms and know-it-all's. Gryffindors are daring and brave, etc. But some ppl think they're stupid. And for Slytherins, just bc almost all of the "baddies" are Slytherins, they think ALL OF THEM are mean, arrogant and the bullies of Hogwarts. Hufflepuffs WERE known to be loyal, honest, kind etc. a lot of people think they're weak. What in Merlin's beard happened? Let's avoid making house traits up:)
