okay for anyone still confused, this is what I had in mind with my post about not holding trans and cis men in the same category.
Many 'allies' version of accepting trans men means stuffing them into a box where they must be unseperatable from cis, instead of reshaping the 'men' category to be inherently inclusive to trans men
'trans men must be ____ because they're men' ❌
'men can be _____ because trans men exist' ✅

ok we all know how fucked up it is to tell a wheelchair user that you can just carry them and their chair up the stairs / a step because of how dangerous that is for the wheelchair user and the risk of damaging the chair.
but i feel like these types of conversations forget that many wheelchair users use power chairs, most of which cannot be carried anywhere due to their weight. like people tend to assume ‘manual wheelchair’ when someone says they’re a wheelchair user?
idk it’s annoying as fuck regardless but i think it’s important that people know that power chair users exist, and that they often have different accessibility needs.

With shitty Starmer planning PIP cuts this is so fucking important
This has always been important to understand, but now more than ever: if you are applying for PIP, your assessor is NOT your friend. No matter how nice they are, no matter whether they say they have your best interests in mind, they are not your friend or ally. They aren't going into this with the goal of getting you the support you need, it's their JOB to deny you if they can. Your goal here isn't to convince them, it's to make sure that there is no way they can deny you without it showing up in call records (and preferably written evidence) that they are lying if you take it to court.

PSA that having disabled friends or relatives DOES NOT automatically make you a good ally. you’re not given a pass. do better. do your work.

As a bonus I will give YOU one (1) approving smile if you manage to hold back from saying “what happened to you then” for the whole conversation!
if you see someone in a mobility aid try these simple tips to interacting with us;
1. don't fucking touch me
2. if you interrogate me over my disability i'll stab you
3. keep your hands to yourself
4. don't fucking touch me
5. give me $20
i hope this helps! 💚

Unpopular opinion
I don’t want a self driving wheelchair that can go up stairs. I want ramps elevators, and curb cuts.
I don’t want a solution in 20 years, I want it now. I wanna be able to go to the mall with my friends and not have to worry about stairs. I want to go the movies and actually chose where I sit. I want to go to a park without having to parkour my way through cracked pavement and curb drops.
I want accessibility and I want it today.

My rheumatologist told me in my appointment today that his patients that used mobility aids were more likely to continue to be affected by chronic pain and like, dude?? Have you not considered?? That.. idk.. maybe it's the other way around??? Like, it seems SO much more likely that the people with continued or worse chronic pain decided to use mobility aids long term than the other way around.
Then he said "don't rely on your wheelchair" and "only use it when necessary on bad days" like dude I'm getting it to improve my quality of life and be able to leave my house more, not to continue living at my pain threshold for the rest of my life. I want to do things and enjoy myself, and not have to take a full week to recover from events. You know what makes that possible? MY MOBILITY AIDS

I’ve blocked other disabled people who have said, like it’s fact/criteria about Fibro “fibro is just what doctors say when they can’t be bothered to search deeper for other issues”
I hate how many people believe fibromyalgia isint a real disease. Yes a lot of people are misdiagnosed with it. Yes doctors speak I'll of us behind our backs. Sometimes ! It is actually genuinely fibromyalgia. And I'm not saying you shouldent fight for the right diagnosis if you think or know it's something else but if I get one more person who says I have something else I'm going to scream. I have fibro because I fit the diagnosis not because they couldent find anything. We know how fibromyalgia works now, even. It might not always be fibro but sometimes it is ! And you shouldent dismiss people who have it

Doctors are out here trying to fix every issue other than the ones their patients actually present to them.
Even in the UK where they don’t even make a ridiculous amount of money out of just telling you you’re being a silly guy and should stop being so silly. Healthcare is free here and they still don’t do shit.
People ask my why I don’t go to the doctors as much as I should and it’s simply because I don’t have the energy to be told again and again “lose weight, go on a diet, attend physiotherapy, go on a walk” right after I tell them that I have tried all of those options and they didn’t do SHIT for me

Me: I’m in pain rn
Person: oh no! I hope you feel better soon
Me: it won’t! It’s unfortunately chronic I’m just noticing it more today!
Person: I hope it gets better soon
Me, internally: have we forgotten what chronic means
what is it with able bodied people saying “get well soon” after you say that you’re chronically ill?? like? i am not gonna? and i once literally responded with “i’m not gonna, it’s chronic, as in permanent.” and they went like “oh well, hope you get better!” like bro 💀

Hi big win for me today.
For the first time in years not only does my mum believe me but she is also:
• suggesting conditions I may have that I ALSO think I have without me saying I think I have them first
• is letting me get a rollator to see if it helps me out before I look at becoming a wheelchair user
• is finally not making me push through my symptoms
• IS ACTUALLY STICKING UP FOR ME TO MY ASSHOLE OF A FATHER!
