Just finished 'The China Study' starting 'The Beauty Detox' by @_kimberlysnyder today. I am so new to eating a plant strong lifestyle! Being Latina I always ate really heavy! Educating yourself on nutrition is one of the best things you can do for yourself! I've been vegan (mostly raw) for 2 months now. It's been challenging. I'm learning so much about food combining, nutrients, and the most important long term health! Don't give up if you don't see results right away. Adjust as you go and know that you are doing something great for yourself and the environment. Seasonal Salad! I went to my farmers market today and made this quick delicious salad! Here's the recipe: 1 head of romaine, chopped 1/2 bell pepper chopped Handful of grapes 2 handfuls of cherry tomatoes 2 baby mangoes, sliced Dressing: 3 persimmons 1 stalk of celery 1 stalk of green onion 1 medium tomato 1/2 cup of water Place in a blender until smooth and creamy Pour over salad, ENJOY!

Hey everyone long time no see!!! So I wanted to give you all the details to my 7 day juice cleanse. It was definitely a challenge but sooo worth it. I did the Kreation Organic premium detox juice cleanse. It is the most advanced level they have. I loved doing this cleanse because it actually kept me full throughout the day. They are 100% organic, raw, gluten-free, cold-pressed and they have added super foods (super important)! I did 5 days of the premium detox, 1 day of 'flourish' and on the 7th day I had a green smoothie, 4 juices from 'flourish' and an apple to start breaking the cleanse. They have a September special going on, when you buy 4 days of the premium detox you get the 5th free. I wish I actually documented more of the process but I was so busy. I will def take more pics next time. If you want to do a cleanse make sure that all the produce is organic. You don't want to eat more toxins, and pesticides when you are cleansing, it makes no sense! I lost about 6 Lbs. I didn't do it to lose weight (most of it is water weight anyway) I did it to fully detox my body to transition into a raw vegan lifestyle. Today  marks my 2nd day of eating only raw fruits and vegetables.
Detoxing is a great way to give our digestive system a break. When our body is so busy trying to keep up with everything we eat its working overtime. A lot of times that is why we often feel bloated and have digestive issues. 
If you want to do a juice cleanse I recommend blocking 3, 5, or 7 days where you can focus on yourself. Try not to go out and socialize during this time because you will only be tempted to be around food and alcohol. I went to an infrared sauna, meditated, exercised, dry brushing and read.
Day 1 and 2: The first couple of days were pretty easy for me because I was so motivated to do this. Quitting wasn't an option.
Day 3: I definitely felt a little hungrier and somewhat moody. I couldn't wait for Day 3 to be over.
Day 4: I went to the sauna and meditated. This definitely helped me get though it. I kept reminding myself I was doing something good for my body and soul.
Day 5: I had less anxiety and the hunger began to subside. I was feeling more optimistic.
Day 6: Ok I was already planning on how I was going to break my cleanse. Planning ahead is crucial so you don't stuff your face with the first piece of junk you come across. You will shock your digestive system and it can actually be worse to do this. I also went to the gym to get my mind off food.
Day 7: I woke up in a great mood because I knew I was going to gradually start breaking my cleanse. I drove to Kreation Organic in Toluca Lake and ordered a green smoothie (it had a frozen banana, almond milk, kale, spinach, super foods, etc.). Then I took a class at Pop Physique in Studio City. I picked up 4 juices for the rest of my day. I had an apple in the middle of the day to start my digestive system again. I had some grapes at night.
Day 8: I had a banana and papaya smoothie. For lunch I had a bunch of green and red grapes, an apple, then for dinner I had a huuuge salad with red bell pepper, cabbage, kale, mango, almonds, avocado, and a home-made tomato dressing.
I have transitioned into a raw vegan lifestyle. Not sure if I will stick to raw vegan or just vegan. I don't miss cooked food at the moment. I love the energy fruit gives me. I am learning more about this lifestyle everyday. An amazing book to read is 'Skinny Bitch' I read it last night and it has given me even more reassurance that this is the life I want to live.

Going cray cray at home! End of my 3rd day juice cleanse! It's great to detoxify the body once a year because sometimes our body is working overtime to get rid if all the crap we eat. I'm doing this to give my digestive system a break as well as resetting my metabolism and cravings. Im thinking of going vegan for a while after this cleanse. Ok so where do I begin! I spent my Saturday at The Taste LA Field to Fork! If you're not familiar with TasteLA its an annual food and wine festival! Everything was so delicious! I couldn't try everything due to diet restrictions but I did let loose a bit! If you've never been you must next year or try out some of these LA restaurants. Here is a list of my favorites!

I needed to recoup from my food coma so I've been drinking a lot of green juices today! Thank God this is only once a year!

Paleo Turkey Burgers! Ingredients Burgers and Veggies: 1.25 lb of ground turkey Bell peppers, cut into thin strips - about 2 cups 1 small onion - cut thin 1 pkg mushrooms - optional 1 large tomato, sliced Lettuce - whatever kind you like Serves 4 (with regular-size burger patties) Spicy Avocado Sauce (optional, or just top with avocado slices) 2 avocados – chopped 2 cloves garlic 1/2 cup chopped cilantro – leaves only 1 lemon – juice of 1 lime – juice of 2 - 4 tbs diced small shallots (optional, adds an onion flavor to the sauce) Burger Seasoning (optional, or just use your favorite burger seasoning) 1 tsp salt 1-2 tsp ground pepper 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp corriander 1/4 tsp turmeric Instructions Mix together burger seasoning ingredients - or use your favorite pre-made seasoning Make the spicy avocado sauce - or just top the burger with fresh avocado slices Place ground turkey in bowl, sprinkle in burger seasoning, and mix with hands Form 4 turkey patties Drizzle patties with olive oil and set aside Chop bell peppers and onion Sauté sliced mushrooms with a little olive oil Get someone on the grill cooking your burgers! Add bell peppers and onion and sauté with mushrooms. (I cooked the onions and mushrooms separate, but you could do them together. Typically mushrooms take longer, so if doing together start the mushrooms first, then add the peppers and onion.) Don't overcook - peppers and onions should still be a little firm Season sautéed veggies with salt and pepper For the avocado sauce, simply combine all the ingredients in a food processor, bullet or high-speed blender until creamy – add water to thin a little if necessary When the grilled burgers are done, place each pattie on a nice piece of lettuce with a thick tomato slice Top with avocado sauce and the sautéed peppers and mushrooms And that's a meal that's all kinds of wonderful!

Amazing Protein Guilt-Free Cookie bars! Inspired by: @cleanndirtytreats Recipe: 🍪2 scoops of protein (I used ShredZ PB Chocolate Protein) 🍪1c oat flour (old fashioned oats grounded in a food processor 🍪1/3c unsweetened applesauce 🍪3 egg whites 🍪2 tbsp Stevia 🍪1 tsp vanilla extract 🍪1/4c water 🍪1/4 chopped dates Mix together and pour into pan! I topped mine w Lily's chocolate chips (they are sweetened w stevia). Bake at 350F for 8-10min. Low-Carb Cauliflower “Tortilla” Fish Tacos! No guilt!
For me eating healthy isn’t a trend or diet! So finding balance is key. I made these mouth watering fish tacos today! Here’s the breakdown:
For cauliflower tortillas:
-1/2 cauliflower -1/4 cup egg whites
Preheat oven to 400. In a food processor place chunks of cauliflower until it has a rice like texture then in a microwave safe bowl microwave on high for 3 min, stir and microwave another 3 min and let it cool.
On another bowl place a towel and drain cauliflower until all of the water is out. Then place on a bowl and add egg whites. Mix with a fork.
Spray your baking tray w a non stick oil spray and make little tortillas w the cauliflower. Make sure they are flat enough. Stick them in the oven for 10 min then flip them and back in oven for 8 min. Let them cool.
I cooked tilapia on a pan and made a salsa. For the salsa I chopped red onion, tomato and cilantro. Add lime, salt and pepper to taste and mix with avocado! Let me know how it turns out!
I only used half of a medium cauliflower which was enough to make 3 cauliflower tortillas. This is one serving, if you want 2 just double it up 😉

Healthy Gluten-Free Banana-Oatmeal cookies! That's right & they're actually good for you. In moderation of course. So here's the low down: -1 ripe banana -3/4 gluten free oatmeal -cinnamon -Vanilla extract -1 tbs. almond butter Place all ingredients in bowl. Mash with your hands. Preheat oven at 350. Scoop out little balls of the mixture and gently press them on a baking sheet or baking pan. Top them with a small slice of banana and sprinkle cinnamon (optional). Put in oven for 15 min. Let them cool and spread almond butter on one cookie and place the other on top! Wallahhhhh! Lol let me know how they turn out! Super fast, easy & healthy!

Inspired by @twohealthychicks Here's the recipe: -1 large banana -3/4 gluten-free rolled oats Mash together with your hands and spoon little balls onto baking sheet (I used this tray since I'm out) stick in oven at 350 for 15 min! That's all 2 ingredient cookies for a mid-day pick me up or pre-workout! Only having 1 today lol. Can't wait to try!

Healthy low carb pizza recipe:
1 serving
-1 cup cauliflower -1 whole egg 1 egg white -Almond jalapeño Jack style 'cheese' (you can use mozzarella unless you're lactose intolerant like me) -3 oz shredded chicken -Spices: oregano, parsley -Tomato sauce
Chop about 1 cup of cauliflower, use a food processor if you have one if not use a blender. I used the magic bullet but gently. In a bowl mix cauliflower cheese and eggs. Mix around w a fork. It's going to have a moist grainy consistency. Spray your aluminum tray and preheat oven to 450. Place the mixture in the tray and with your hands press it out evenly. Put tray in oven for 20 min. Take it out and pour the tomato sauce evenly spread out. I made mine naturally so I know exactly what is in the sauce. Add shredded chicken, cheese, greens. Put it back in oven for 5 min. You can add any toppings you want like spinach, olives, onions, mushrooms, etc.
So healthy and so delicious!

Hola amigos!
Sooooooo....it's 12:15 here in NYC and like a lot of you I struggle with late night cravings. I couldn't help my sweet tooth tonight so I had 3 of these ginger peanut butter ginger chews, nuts and a thinkThin bar...after having a 4oz salmon! So not the best choice but better than ice cream right? I try not to keep tempting snacks at home because it's hard to control my tooth so late at night.
I want to invite you to join me on my challenge tomorrow! I will have no sugar tomorrow not even 1 of these amazing ginger chews 😩 are u in? I've been pretty good at not having sugar at all but I feel like I'm slowly adding it with little things here and there! I want to take it one day at a time so for just 'Friday' no sugar, then we will do Saturday & Sunday, etc! Tell yourself 'I will only eat healthy today' everyday haha until your cheat meal once a week.
It can be overwhelming so setting daily goals can be useful!

How did you managed to maintain a healthy eating habit specially coming from a Hispanic culture where the majority of food is greasy and delicious?
It's not easy. It's all about balance. I allow myself to cheat once a week, and that can be any meal. You have to remember that this is a lifestyle and not a diet. It's a daily challenge for me and I'm taking it day by day!
