I Am In Eskew

Official Website Listen on Spotify Created by: Jon Ware Aired: 2018-2019 Episodes: 30
I Am In Eskew is a single narrator horror fantasy audio drama. Eskew is a city of steep and winding streets, where the rain seemingly never stops and the buildings change at will. David, the narrator, is from our world, but has found himself trapped in this living, murderous city, unable to find his way home. With escape impossible, David documents his bizarre, often mind-bending experiences in a series of endless recording, hoping that someone – anyone – will hear them. In this twisted city, nothing is what it seems, and the strange population that David meets there – the journalist, obsessed with the letters she receives, the architect who won’t talk about the building they designed, the mysterious woman intent on burning Eskew to the ground – know more than they let on.
Each episode is told in first person from the protagonist: the saddest boy you've ever heard trapped in a bizarre and hostile city. A collection of grotesque episodes that eventually build to finale.
Perfect for the hardest of the body horror fans, the keepers of the wettest, sadest cats, and for those who just really like listening to rain SFX.

I'm so proud and honored to be a part of this weird, wonderful show, and doubly honored to bring the character of Solomon to life.
I knew from the very beginning--from just the few lines we were given for the audition, that Solomon would be easy to identify with, and I ached, truly ached to play them.
Steven's words about their journey writing Sol make so much sense to me, because his character is so vital, so integral to what Shelterwood is and what it's trying to do.
I feel the show IS rich and real, inclusive and diverse, transformative and beautiful.
So Happy Pride everyone, and I hope you find happiness and inspiration in the weird and wonderful like I (and Steven and everyone here in Shelterwood) do.
Sam Stark
Happy pride for everyone here at Shelterwood! This show was a really important part of my gender journey. When I started writing it in the spring of 2020, the character of Solomon Crockett quickly came to the fore as an essential element of the story. What I didn't know was, as I wrote the season, I would come to truly identify with the character. It would take years for me to embrace my trans identity, but in many ways writing Shelterwood was the first step on that journey - our cast and crew represent a wide range of sexualities and genders, and we hope that the diversity of our experiences have made this show a little richer, a little more real, a little more pride-worthy. With all my love and all my strength in these dark days, Stephen Indrisano

i like working at plant store. sometimes you ring up someone and there's a slug on their plant and so you're like "Oh haha you've got a friend there let me get that for you" and you put the slug on your hand for safekeeping but then its really busy and you dont have time to take the slug outside before the next customer in line so you just have a slug chilling on your hand for 15 minutes. really makes you feel at peace with nature. also it means sometimes i get to say my favorite line which is "would you like this free slug with your purchase"
