So, here is a bit more of the insanity of my multiverse cross over. I do not own any of the characters other than my OC Ruby Heart.

The Comedian X Female OC

The Song Bird had a decent crowd that night as Eddie sat back in his usual seat. A cigar wedged in his teeth as he leaned back at the empty table. A bottle of gin sat at the center while he nursed his drink.

Tonight was the first night Ruby was to perform since the incident. He knew that Benjamin, Harley and the staff of the lounge tried to convince her otherwise for recovery. But she was a stubborn redhead, feisty and fiery, he knew for a fact she wouldn’t listen to them. Especially with the new piece he had slid under her door. It was just her type of number, there was no way she would resist the music of that limelight.

The lights in the lounge rotated to the stage that was hidden with the pleated curtain. A slow beat pulsed through the speakers as the curtain began to raise. Ruby stood there, her hair half up in curls while the rest hung over her shoulder. Her dress was a different one tonight. A form fitting, floor length red dress with a slit up her leg. Black songbirds dotted up the front of her chest from the black sash. Her shoulders were bare minus a few small straps as she moved towards the microphone. 

Her hand came up to the microphone as her crimson lips drew close, “Found you when your heart was broke…” Her voice carried through the lounge as she sang. “I filled your cup until it overflowed. Took it so far to keep you close. I was afraid to leave you on your own…” She stopped for a moment as the song built, closing her eyes and looking away from the crowd.

The microphone picked up her sharp intake of breath as she opened her eyes, locking them with Eddie’s, “I said I'd catch you if you fall. And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all. And then I got you off your knees. Put you right back on your feet. Just so you could take advantage of me.” Her voice held an air of pain as she sang. 

Eddie couldn’t believe what he was hearing, this was not the song he had slid to her at all and he knew she was targeting him with it. He shook his head, breaking eye contact for a moment as his mind wandered back to their days of being Watchmen.

“Gave love 'bout a hundred tries…”

There they were standing outside of the publicity photo shoot, her hands at his face where Hooded Justice had broken his nose for catching him attempting to do something unspeakable. Ruby smiled at him as she dabbed the blood away. “You have to control yourself. The world isn’t your playground darlin’.”

“Just running from the demons in your mind…”

Ruby stood before the flashes of cameras as people asked her questions about the accusations that were being thrown towards the Comedian about the sexual assault of Silk Spectre as well as the murder of Hooded Justice in his home. “He didn’t do any of that stuff. I have thoroughly investigated both allegations and have found that the man responsible for both and apprehended him.” The Comedian stood behind her watching, shocked that she lied to the press to save him.

“Then I took yours and made 'em mine…”

“You lying bitch!” Silk Spectre yelled as she crossed the meeting room, her hand raised, bringing it hard across Ruby’s cheek. “How can you defend that monster!”

“He made mistakes, we all have.” Ruby brought her hand up to her stinging cheek. “You’ve done some questionable stuff yourself.”

“Not on his calibur.” Silk Spectre snarled as she looked back at her fellow Watchmen. Her eyes went to The Comedian who leaned against the wall, “brainwashed another didn’t you?”

Ruby shook her head as she bawled her fists at her side, “He didn’t brainwash me… I love him…” 

“That’s even worse!” She spat back as she turned.

“I didn't notice 'cause my love was blind…”

“Ruby Heart, you have been found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct the justice you swore to uphold. How do you plead?” The head of the Watchmen’s council spoke.

Her head remained down as she spoke, “Guilty, Night Owl. I am guilty.”

Night Owl took a deep breath and shook his head, “then you have left me no choice. You are now stripped of your title as a Watchmen.” His eyes went to The Comedian who sat on the other side of the circular table that surrounded Ruby. “You must be very proud of this moment.” He said sarcastically as he turned his attention back to Ruby. “You are to leave your super suit and exit the facility immediately. Where a public lawman will escort you to Arkham.”

“Tell me how's it feel sittin' up there? Feeling so high but too far away to hold me.” 

Eddie shook his head again coming back to the present as he grabbed his glass of gin and slammed it back. His mind clouded in the thoughts of her defending him over and over and he just wasted it all, didn’t care that this woman was there for him. 

“Baby I'm the one who put you up there. I don’t know why…” Ruby’s held weight as she sang, the pain she was feeling laced her words. She turned from the microphone as the song began to fade, the curtain coming down as her own tears matched it.
