Just finished chapters five and six and that’s a wrap!

AKA: Baby’s First Smutty Fanfiction

On paper, the mission the day before had gone more or less without a hitch, but Katsuki probably wouldn’t agree. He’d taken his eyes off the target for one crucial second, and that was all it took for the villain’s tail to catch him, toss him aloft, and smash him into the ground. The concussion that resulted wasn’t life threatening, but enough to warrant a visit to the hospital. He, of course, insisted that he was fine, and Eijiro had had a hell of a time getting him to stay at home and rest. He may or may not have had to call in a favor from Ms. Bakugou, one that involved Katsuki’s baby photos, but the important thing was that he was taking it easy for at least a week.

Izuku had been through hell.

He'd fought villains with no discernible weaknesses. He'd wrestled with certain defeat innumerable times. He'd looked death in its huge and unblinking eyes and screamed, not out of fear, but out of determination. He'd seen his friends and his family put in harm's way on his account. He'd faced a lifetime of powerlessness in the midst of desperately seeking heroism, and he'd faced months of brutal training to get what the universe hadn't thought to bestow upon him.

Therefore it was almost funny, in a horrible and cruel way, that a simple piece of shrapnel should be what killed him.
