daily self love affirmations.
this isn't select to just practitioners of witchcraft- anyone can, and should, use affirming language towards themselves. self acceptance is the first step to self love, and to healing.

Menstrual Magic
*This is by no means a comprehensive or traditional list of practices involving menstrual blood in magic. It’s sadly very taboo, even now, and if it was a commonly-used magical element not much evidence survived.
For anyone who has a period, a menstrual cycle isn’t exactly a celebratory thing. But it can be! This cycle of ours has massive magical potential in a variety of ways.
Historically, periods were used by many cultures to stigmatize menstruating people. In ancient Christianity and Judaism, such people were “ritually unclean” and a others who slept with or touched one had to go through a period of cleansing before re-entering sacred spaces. People in Nepal and other eastern countries are still required to spend their period time in separate living spaces from the rest of their family. In Rome, the touch of menstruating people was believed to kill plants, fallow fields, and rust iron.
But not all menstrual beliefs were negative. Some Indigenous American cultures also kept menstruating people separate from the rest, in order to protect their power and receive visions. Hildegard of Bingen taught that menstrual blood could be a cure for leprosy and other afflictions of the skin, while Pliny the Elder (who had mostly horrible opinions about period blood) claimed hailstorms and whirlwinds could be driven away if menstrual fluid is exposed to the flashes of lightning. In some African cultures, period blood threatened the power of the patriarchy and could be used in a variety of charms to seduce, compel, or entrap AMAB people.
So, without more ado, here’s a few magical launching pads for menstrual blood in your own practice:
Dress a candle (carved with sigils of your own making) with blood to add oomph to fertility spells, curses, or pyromancy
Mix a small amount into a salve for skin afflictions (be cautious of using it on broken skin or near eyes/mouth/mucous membranes)
Add to salt baths/epsom baths for lunar ceremonies (or just free-bleed while you bathe)
Incorporate into charms or spell bottles (for self love or otherwise 😏)
Use to mark cursing sigils on the land of your enemy (for laying their fields fallow, striking down their pets, cutting off their cash flow, etc)
Have fun with it, and do research on it for yourself! There’s so many fascinating myths and conflicting beliefs concerning this one little thing that affects half the population. Use it to your advantage.
Note: The most sterile and efficient way to collect your menstrual blood is with a menstrual cup. Your blood is sterile (unless you have a blood-borne illness) until exposed to the air outside your body, so keep this in mind. Blood from a cup is better than blood squeezed from a tampon, and miles better than blood from a pad. If you cannot wear a cup, consider free-bleeding into a receptacle until you have enough.
(PS: Blood is a contaminant and can contain harmful pathogens. Do not consume or compel someone else to consume your blood, and if you use it topically only use it on yourself. If you are HIV positive, have a clotting disorder or other diseases of the blood, do not use your blood in magic. Not only could this be harmful to you or others, you could face legal consequences.)

🌕✨ moon water correspondences ✨🌕
taken from one of my favourite pages of my grimoire!
moon water can be used for blessings, enhancing spells or rituals, for promoting clarity or relaxation, in love magic, wealth/prosperity magic, to increase psychic awareness, and many other purposes! but by harnessing your moon water at different times, you can then incorporate the specific traits of that time/phase/zodiac period into your spell work.
✨new moon water ✨
the new moon is associated with new beginnings, so use new moon water in spells or rituals focusing on things like new employment, new relationships, or new homes.
e.g. when moving into a new home, add a couple of tablespoons of new moon water to the water you would normally use to cleanse your house with!
✨waxing moon water ✨
the waxing moon is the period in which the moon is growing in size, so use waxing moon water as a way to grow the strength of your spells. waxing moon water is also beneficial in spells to promote growth (of abilities, skill, or knowledge). the power of the waxing moon also increases the potency of fertility spells, wealth, luck, business and relationship spells
✨full moon water ✨
the full moon is the point at which the moon is at its peak, so use full moon water for spells that require an extra push of energy. also use full moon water in spells to promote strength, love, protection, health, or use in spells to strengthen spiritual gifts and achieve your dreams
✨waning moon water ✨
the waning moon is the period in which the moon is decreasing in size, so use waning moon water for all magic intended to remove things from your life; banishing spells to rid yourself of bad habits, toxic relationships, lingering diseases, weight loss, stress, addictions and negativity
✨dark moon water ✨
when justice is required and is not obtainable outside of your spell work, casting in the dark of the moon and adding dark moon water will help with any crosses, hexes or binding spells
✨super moon water ✨
think of full moon water x1000000…… when you need an EXTRA BIG KICK OF ENERGY for your spells, this guy has you covered
✨lunar eclipse moon water ✨
the lunar eclipse signifies change, so when drastic change is required, the addition of lunar eclipse water draws on the phenomenal change shown during an eclipse, as the moon cycles through all of its stages in a single instance
✨zodiac* moon water ✨
full moon water also takes on the energies of the zodiac sign the full moon is in. here’s a brief rundown of those properties and/or what they can be used for:
1) full moon water in aries = couragous, positive energy; charging tools 2) full moon water in taurus = stable, earth, fertile energy 3) full moon water in gemini = positive charge, overcoming obstacles 4) full moon water in cancer = loving, maternal, protective energies 5) full moon water in leo = lucky, creative, successful energy; arts, politics 6) full moon water in virgo = practical energy; facilitates planning 7) full moon water in libra = persuasive, balancing energies; legal matters 8) full moon water in scorpio = psychic, spiritual, banishing energy  9) full moon water in sagittarius = transforming, spiritual energy; meditation 10) full moon water in capricorn = careers, politics, attaining material goods 11) full moon water in aquarius = innovative, inventive energies 12) full moon water in pisces = dreamy, psychic energy; astral projection

rice water toner🌾
Tumblr media
I’ve been meaning to share this recipe not only for its magical properties, but  because it’s honestly changed my skin in ways no store-bought toner has
rice is associated with mother-type deities and feminine energy. it can be used in spells for protection, wealth and blessings. when applied to the skin as rice water, it has anti-inflammatory and brightening properties
keep it in the fridge and apply with a cotton pad after the shower, it feels so so good. on lazy days i’ll just use this as my face cleanser, but keep in mind I have fairly normal skin🌜
Materials
·      organic white/jasmine/basmati rice·      bowl·      water·      container
Steps
·      add a handful of rice to the bowl and rinse it first, disposing of the water
·      add your desired amount of water to the bowl and set aside
·      let it soak for 1-3 hours and bottle the water in a separate container, then refrigerate (the rice can still be used for cooking)
·      optional add-ins: rose petals, lavender, calendula flowers 🥀
disclaimer: patch test and research for allergies

TAROT tips for Beginners 🌙
⭐︎ Cleanse your deck after you buy it!! This is so so important, because you want to start working with a new clean energy.
⭐︎ There are thousands of ways to cleanse your deck. Cleansing can be something super simple, as just knocking on your deck 3 times or placing a crystal on top of the deck! Just do what feels right.
⭐︎ Interview your deck! After you buy new cards, talk to them, ask them questions and figure out the decks personality. There are a lot of fun spreads for this.
⭐︎ Sleep with your deck. Another good way to bond with your deck is sleeping with it near you. Just put it under your pillow or somewhere close to you over night!
⭐︎ You don’t have to read reversals. It’s up to you if you decide to turn the card back around. Again, do what feels right!
⭐︎ Reversals don’t always equal opposites. If you decide to read reversals, remember that it can have completely different meaning then just being opposite of the upright position.
⭐︎ Start simple. Start out with something simple like past/present/future spread. It’s super easy and gives you clarity on any situation.
⭐︎ Spend time looking at the picture. When you pull a card, really spend time observing at all the different colors and symbols before you look up the meaning.
⭐︎ Jumping cards usually have something important to tell you. If you’re shuffling your deck and a card jumps out, look up what it means and what message it has for you!
⭐︎ Pull a daily card each morning. This is super fun and easy. You definitely don’t need to do this everyday, but it’s a good way to memorize the cards and their meanings.
and finally, practice, practice and practice! It’s going to take a while until you remember all the meanings, but just have fun and enjoy the process!🦋

The Elements and their correspondences
E A R T H
Tumblr media
Earth represents strength, grounding, prosperity, the material, wealth, success, foundations, death and rebirth. Focus on this element if the goal of your spell is about fertility, prosperity, business or stability. Earth spells may take longer to work, but they’re also more firm and are good if you’re looking for long-term solutions.
GENDER: Feminine SEASON: Winter DIRECTION: North HOUR: Night
COLOURS: Green, Brown, Black ANIMALS: Bears, Deers, Wolves, Badgers HERBS/PLANTS: Ivy, Ash, Vetiver, Wheats, Oats INSTRUMENTS: Drums (Percussion instruments)

Tumblr media
Air represents intellect and the mind, wisdom, knowledge; logic as well as abstract thought, intuition and higher consciousness. If you’re seeking freedom, travels, or to enhance your memory and focus - focus on Air spells! Air is whimsical and amiable, personally I haven’t found it useful for more serious spells, but it does wonders for my studies.
GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Spring DIRECTION: East HOUR: Dawn
COLOURS: Yellow, White, Sky Blue, Pastels ANIMALS: Birds, Spiders, Butterflies HERBS/PLANTS: Lavender, Birch, Vervain, Dill, Aspen INSTRUMENTS: Flute (Wind instruments)
STAR SIGNS: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius STONES/GEMS: Amethyst, Opal, Alexandrite, Beryl RITUAL TOOLS: Incense, Wand RITUAL FORMS: Fanning, Tossing into air, Suspending in a high place  TAROT SUIT: Swords

Tumblr media
Fire represents energy, passion, purification, love, inspiration, desire, will, courage, power, leadership, sexuality. In spellcraft, focusing on Fire is good for purification, healing and love spells; it’s the best element for quick, strong spells. Although, Fire is fierce in essence, and Fire spells are susceptible - they should be well thought out.
GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Summer DIRECTION: South HOUR: Noon
COLOURS: Red, Orange, Gold ANIMALS: Snakes, Lions, Horses HERBS/PLANTS: Cacti, Cinnamon, Pepper, Basil INSTRUMENTS: Guitar (Stringed instruments)
STAR SIGNS: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius STONES/GEMS: Amber, Citrine, Ruby, Tiger’s Eye RITUAL TOOLS: Athame, Candles RITUAL FORMS: Burning, Smouldering, Heating TAROT SUIT: Wands
W A T E R
Tumblr media
Water represents purification as well; though it’s focused more on the soul and the subconscious rather than the physical, material world. Water stands for emotion, intuition, wisdom, eternal movement, reflection, lunar energy. Focusing on the Water element is good for psychic abilities, getting in tune with your inner self, mysteries, friendships, love, dreams and sleep.
GENDER: Feminine SEASON: Autumn DIRECTION: West HOUR: Dusk
COLOURS: Blue, Indigo, Silver ANIMALS: Otters, Fish, Sea Mammals, Frogs HERBS/PLANTS: Lotus, Water Lilies, Aloe, Gardenia INSTRUMENTS: Cymbal, Bell (Resonant instruments)
STAR SIGNS: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces STONES/GEMS: Moonstone, Aquamarine, Pearl RITUAL TOOLS: Cauldrons, Chalices, Seashells RITUAL FORMS: Diluting, Placing into water, washing away, bathing TAROT SUIT: Cups

🌙 daily witchy self-care🕯️
Tumblr media
Taking care of yourself day-to-day is important- even more important than a full-blown, in-depth spiritual practice. Here are a few ways you can incorporate witchcraft into your daily self care routine.
witchy baths or showers: bring some (water safe!) crystals, herbs, or even corresponding soaps into your hygiene routine. correlate these items to an overarching intent. try even bringing in specific colors or scents!
affirmations: when you get ready in the morning, get ready for bed, prepare to sleep, or make meals, try to recite some affirmations and reaffirm your intent. this includes things like stirring soup or a drink clockwise/counterclockwise to attract/banish something, telling yourself you are perfect the way you are as you look into the mirror, and affirming your intentions for the next day before you fall asleep.
sigils: try putting sigils on things you use in your daily life. perhaps a glamour sigil on a makeup item you frequently use, confidence sigil on your mirror, luck sigils on the soles of your shoes, relaxation and sleep sigils under your pillow, etc.
mindfulness: take a moment to be present in your life. try to notice the weather outside, observe what's happening outside your window, focus on your breathing, observe what you can with all five senses, or do any kind of mindful exercise to remain present and aware throughout the day. notice how this makes you feel.
journaling: write about your feelings! how mindful were you throughout the day? what did you notice? what did you do to enrich your spiritual practice that day; did you research, or focus on anything in particular?
Remember that you don't need to do a lengthy ritual daily in order to have a daily practice. The idea that your practice must be in-depth and energy consuming every day is an ableist mindset. Not doing extensive work towards your witchy goals doesn't make you any less of a practitioner. Your practice is valid, friend.
Love yourself and witch on!
