✨Filling in the blank: let's be hypocrites and storm the capital, take Trump hostage and negotiate for another person. (Yes, I know this would probably never work.)✨
Disappointed by the election results (like many on this site, I imagine). Here's what I will say: it is not the time for catastrophizing, for giving up on the United States as a whole, or for acting like democracy is already over.
A) On a larger scale, I think it's the time for Democrats to look at what we can do as a party- what issues we are losing on, who are we losing with, and how we can improve our messaging. We can turn our attention to midterms and local elections- which still make a big difference.
B) We know some of the antidemocratic things that Trump might do while in office, and we still have Joe Biden in his lame duck period. Are there ways to make it difficult for Trump to do those things? What safeguards can we put in place? I don't necessarily have ideas here, but there must be some things which could be done.
C) We also know some of the issues that are at stake- abortion, Palestine, social programs, climate change, etc. As individuals it's worth putting in the effort to volunteer and donate. Even if you only manage to help a few people, that's better than no one.
Obviously none of this is perfect, but I can't stand the defeatism that I'm hearing from some of the people in my life. This is not "Trump won, the end". It's "Trump won, and then we (blank)".

I am 19 years old and I have never been more afraid, but I have never been more angry. This system has failed me. This system has ruined me. This system has failed so. Many. People. And to everyone, I am so sorry.
I am so so sorry.
I watched this system fail my father. I watched as he spiraled into a heroin addiction when I was five. I watched as he went to prison over and over. I watched as rehab did nothing for him and he struggled for years and years. Not once did this system do anything to help him.
I watched this system fail my mother. I watched my her struggle to raise two kids on her own with a sports bar waitress wage. I watched her struggle and claw her way through life with no support. Not once did this system help her.
I watched as this system failed my grandfather. I watched as he was actively dying and even with health insurance, he couldn't afford proper care. I was 17 and basically his full time hospice care. Not once did this system try to help him.
This system has failed me and the people around me since before I was born and it will continue to do so long after I'm gone if I do nothing. I refuse to do nothing.
YOU CANNOT DO NOTHING. You cannot give up. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you that everything will be okay. I have no clue what is going to happen, but I can guarantee that these are not going to be a good four years. Keep protesting, keep signing petitions, keep living, do everything in your power to make the life of those upholding the system MISERABLE. Be angry, be loud.
Do not turn away new people. We need all the help we can get. Answer their questions. Help them find ways to help and ways to access research. We need to talk to each other and help each other. Don't stop learning and teaching.

What the fuck are we supposed to do? I'm terrified. I'm 19... I'm 19 and I feel nothing but doom every time I wake up in the morning. I have to convince myself to wake up and get out of bed. Every. Morning. People are dying everywhere and there's nothing I can do about it. The things I've done don't make a difference. Things were supposed to be okay, I did everything that I was supposed to. But they're not. What are we supposed to do? Someone please tell me because I'm scared. I want to do things with my life and it already feels like it's over. I've tried so desperately to stay positive and find bright sides and hold out hope. My hope and my actions are not enough. So I ask you, what the fuck is left for us? How do I make things okay again? How do I fix this? Someone please talk to me. I know I'm screaming into the void, but I need it to talk back this time. Please I can't do this again.

Listen to me. Listen to me. This is bad, but we aren't doomed. They want you to give up, so don't you fucking dare give up. If we can't change things on a national level, change it locally. Vote locally, protest peacefully and safely if you can. They won't take state rights away, Republicans fucking love state rights. So fight in your state. We've lived through Trump before. It'll be tougher this time, but we can do it. He can't be elected again after this. Keep fighting. It's going to be ok.

Hey I’m the void. My heart goes out to you. I’m hurting too right now. It’s a lot of pressure to feel like you need to do all you can politically, and it hurts more when you try and your efforts feel like they’re not doing anything. I can’t offer much comfort, but one phrase that has kept me going since the first time that asshole won has been “Things will be okay because they have to be”. It’s another way to say “this too shall pass” but a more inevitable way to say it. It makes sense to me but maybe not to everyone.
And like, not to be dark, but the biggest group of people that support what happened are starting to die out. The new generation of voters, *your* generation rushed the polls and you did your part. And my generation, the one before yours, is cheering you all on. You have done way better than we ever have.
If you want some unsolicited advice: what I usually do (and am going to do) in this situation is to do and change something that I can control. I’m going to cut off about 6 inches of my hair and maybe dye it. I’m going to be loving and supportive to my friends and strangers. I’m going to be kind and loving to myself.
Thank you. Thank you so much. This means so much to me. Thank you for talking to me. I love you as a human being. You have brought me a moment of solace and clarity. I'm so thankful that there are wonderful people like you in the world.
I'm going to eat a hash brown and drink some water and watch independent animated short films on YouTube.

Valid. Allow me to add this:
Tumblr media
looking back on danny phantom and beginning to realize why i never took vlad that seriously as an antagonist. like a glitch in time really cracked it open for me.
he is a 40 year old man but he is also a category 5 failgirl having a two decade long Mental Health Moment. his hobby is feeling really stupid about a thing he did and then doing it again five days later. he fumbled so hard he almost destroyed all of reality. like on accident.

...It was right there
Ecto-sketch. Damn it.
Tumblr media
Ok. So, you know that TV show Ghost Adventures? Let's make it Danny phantom.
Danny, Sam, and Tucker are college age. Danny's studying astrophysics and astronomy. Tucker's studying engineering. And Sam's double majoring in occult studies and parapsychology. They're not in Amity Park, I don't know where they'd be but it would probably be a really haunted city/town. They need some extra money so they start a paranormal investigation group kinda like what Ghost Adventures is, but local. They post their findings on YouTube. They basically blow up overnight and get monetized after they get a few videos out there.
Danny is the "medium". (He's not a medium. He just has ghost powers.)
Tucker's the tech specialist.
Sam's the occult specialist.
But instead of provoking the ghosts and being rowdy and screaming all the time (don't get me wrong, the show is funny and I do enjoy watching it, but we all know they're not always respectful of the spirits.), they're actually trying to solve the problem the ghost is posing. They try to compromise with them and help them pass on.
Sam sends Danny into creepy basements by himself just like Zak does with Aaron. She also pulls the most obscure and random occult facts out of her ass. One time, she told the audience that it was possible to exorcise ghosts using music. She proceeded to play Riptide on a ukulele for the spirit of a pre-teen girl and it worked. After the episode is over, people go to look it up, and low and behold, there it is.
Tucker makes progressively more insane and less believable gadgets to contact and interact with ghosts. Their audience tunes in every week wonder what he'll have next. The last episode, it was some sort of ghostly etch-a-sketch. AND THE GHOSTS ACTUALLY USED IT. Did one of them draw a dick on it like a smart ass? Probably.
Sometimes Danny has full on conversations with no one on camera. He waves when there's no one else in the room. He scolded a poltergeist that tried to push him down the stairs. He consistently says that most ghosts just need a hug. Dark spirit? Hug it. Violent poltergeist? They need a hug. Ghostly child? HUG. The audience notices his eyes glowing in the dark. Is it special effects? No one knows.
No one can tell if they're serious or not. They had a literal gun that shoots ghosts. They play music for ghosts. They have ghostly etch-a-sketches. Unless you're from Amity Park, there's no way you're believing that.
But, people who have their properties investigated often say that the activity stops or de-intensifies or changes all together. People may have to change things, like hanging up a photo of the deceased, holding a memorial service, or stopping/changing renovations. But they make the ghost happy or even pass on. That way they stop throwing the good china out of the cabinets.

Someone wanted to see the etch-a-sketch. I could not come up with a better name T^T. I am unfortunately not a digital artist haha
Tumblr media
So, it looks pretty similar to a traditional etch-a-sketch. It's made of ecto-infused aluminum to help ghosts interact with it better. The antennas at the top are part of a deconstructed rem pod. Those work by creating an electromagnetic field in the surrounding area to give them energy and sense movement as far as I'm aware.
I assume that the ghosts that are haunting locations the trio visit are anchored and can't or don't want to go to the ghost zone. So they're pretty weak cause they don't have access to ectoplasm as often as the ghosts in the show do.
