Do you think Thorin thighs chaff during the hotter days of their trip? Or like...idk, any of the dwarves? They got meat on their bones. I KNOW at least one of them knows what chaffing is.

Fili x Oc (still working on name for fic)
Okay, so this is the first chapter I wrote a while back. Honestly, i would love to make multiple chapters of this as I really enjoy writing for Iridian and fili. I may work on it in the background and post one shot's here and there. Anyways, Please enjoy and thank you for reading!!!

If you had told Iridian that in a year she would be in the company of dwarves and her dear home bodied neighbor on an adventure to the lonely mountain to help said dwarves take back their land and treasure, she would have told you that your story telling rivaled that of the oldest and wisest elders in middle earth.
But here she was, in that exact situation, wishing more than anything to be back home in her cozy Hobbit hole, tea in one hand and a book in the other as she sat by the fire in her beloved reading chair. She wasn't sure how she managed to be dragged along in her neighbor's mischief (if you could even call it HIS mischief and not gandalfs, the wizard that had orchestrated this whole thing and of who she wished to hit over the head sometimes if it weren't for him being so terribly taller than her.) but she had been. She found herself wondering how that fateful evening would have gone had she not walked over to Bilbo’s home to return that dish?
In all honesty, she had grown somewhat fond of the ragtag group assembled around her, finding their antics amusing and their songs a delight, though the antics and rough housing more often than not gave her a mini heart attack as she was worried one of them would break their nose or knock themselves out. One of Her only complaints however was she was the only woman in the group, which had its own struggles when it came to their rare moments of privacy. not even mentioning how she had appointed herself the motherly figure of all the men, making sure they behave and kept manners despite them being dwarves, who had a range different customs then hers and Bilbo's hobbitly ways. It always gained a laugh from Gandalf when the dwarves with their burly frames and bushy beards were being scolded by a red head 3,2 Hobbit woman, looking deeply ashamed of themselves for whatever actions they had taken part in to get themselves in trouble with the woman.
At first the group hadn't been very excited she would be joining them, in all honesty she wasn’t either, not knowing what she was to bring to the table in terms of usefulness. The dwarves made their displeasure known many times, whether it be grumblings of how she was to slow, or complaining at how she could not carry as much as the dwarves in the way of supplies, and even that it wasn't exactly fair she got to have a separate area to change and bath herself. But as the days, weeks and even months passed, they (she included) found that her knowledge of herbs and medicine came quite in handy for when the dwarves or bilbo eventually hurt themselves or got sick from eating something they shouldn't have, which usually only applied to Bombur who had a weakness for anything remotely edible during the hard weeks where they had little to no food.
She grew fond of their party. Finding the adventure tedious and tiresome, and of course she truly did miss her Hobbit hole and all her food and books, but she had decided about a year into their adventure that she had been increasingly happy she had tagged along.
"Iridian? Oy, are you still with us?" A voice snapped Iridian from her thoughts rather quickly, her eyes moving from the plate of rations she had been staring at to look towards the owner of the voice.
Fili had taken a seat beside her while she had been deep in thought, fingers fidgeting with her necklace absentmindedly, a smile finding its way to her lips as she looked over to the blonde dwarf.
"Hm? Sorry, I was a bit lost in thought." She smiles, turning to set her nearly empty plate down beside her, brushing bread crumbs from her pants legs (she had long since exchanged her usual yellow dress and brown apron for a comfortable pair of trousers, shirt and waistcoat. An outfit that practically matched Bilbo's.)
"Yeah, I could tell." Fili hums, leaning back against the tree they were sitting under, arms crossed over his broad chest. "Gold coin for your thoughts?" He asks, eyes still locked onto the ginger Hobbit by his side.
Iridian shrugs in response, her eyes looking towards the fire not too far away, watching as everyone chatted and laughed with each other, even Thorin was smiling at a joke that had been told. They seemed in good spirits, their current path would be leading them towards a nearby town by midday the next day, and they would be able to restock their rations if the town was hospitable enough.
"Just thinking about our journey so far. Imagining what we'll do when we reach the mountain." She hums before falling silent a moment. "...is it wrong that I almost wish our adventure wouldn't end?" She frowns, tearing her eyes from the campfire to meet Fili's prying blue eyes, her expression searching for any validation that her thought process wasn't completely moronic.
Fili laughs of course, shaking his head when she speaks. "Not at all. You and Bilbo were so used to a quiet mundane life before all this, you've grown used to it by now. That and you've grown to like all of us." He teases, nudging her with his elbow, earning him a chuckle from her. "I don't think you're wrong for it."
Iridian nods, grateful he understood where she was coming from. Lately she had found she was able to be more open with him. Not that she wasn't able to with any of the others, hell she saw Bilbo as a brother after knowing him her whole life. But she always seemed to end up gravitating towards Fili, whether it be during their long marches through hard terrain, rolling hills out breezy fields where she and him would end up walking besides each other or one of them behind or infront of the other, or in feasts when they found the odd town or accommodating host that would let them rest for a while.
She would never really admit it, but she was beginning to grow quite attached to the dwarf. Which almost made the adventure grow more difficult with the promise of its end approaching with every day.
"What do you suppose you'll do when we DO reach the mountain?" She hums, leaning back against the tree and turning her head to the side to look at him once more. "I remember Thorin saying you all get a share of the treasure. Will you go off with Kili and continue adventuring? Or is this adventure it for you?" She teases.
Fili grins in response, his eyes locked onto her as if she were the single handedly most mesmerizing thing in existence at that moment (something his brother certainly noticed and would be teasing him for later.)
"Certainly not. I'm still quite young, thank you. But I suppose me and Kili will stay with Thorin a while, help him restore the mountain and Dale. I don't think he'd ever let us hear the end of it if his two nephews up and left when we finally got our home back." Fili shrugs half heartedly.
Iridian nods in agreement, she could only imagine how quick Thorin would be to drag the two young dwarves back by the ear as if they were misbehaving children. She nearly laughed at the image painted before Fili's voice cut through her thoughts once more. "And you? What will you do once our adventure is over? I assumed you and Bilbo would make your journey back to the shire." He suggests, ignoring the slight pang of melancholy he felt at the idea of bidding her goodbye. He wouldn't admit it, lest he risked being teased by his brother and the other dwarves, but he had grown just as fond of the Hobbit as she had of him.
Iridian hums herself, thinking for a moment before she would answer. That of course was the plan, to go back to bag-end and live the rest of her days in the comfortable safety of her little hole. But she also had a hard time imagining what it would be like going back to such a mundane life, which of course was ironic because most hobbits would prefer the calm mundanity then an adrenaline pumping adventure such as this.
"Well." She starts "I do suppose I'll go back to bag-end with Bilbo. Once our journey is over I don't really see much left for me to stay around for. And besides, I do miss my reading chair and my garden." She smiles, wanting to keep a light and optimistic tone so that the conversation didn't grow sad. Her words weren't entirely truthful of course, she did see many reasons to stay a while longer as Thorin and his company restored the mountain, so many reasons infact she could count them out on both hands. But she wasn't sure she wanted to fully commit to a promise of staying that long when there was always the looming threat that they would not make it out of that mountain alive.
"I see. You and Bilbo seem to favor your reading chairs quite a bit." He smiles "I personally don't see the appeal, I sat in his the first day, when we all met at his home, and it was just much too soft for my liking." He explains, which earns a laugh from her, that he would have compared it to a bird's song when you first wake in the morning during the spring.
"Too soft? Oh you would hate mine then, it's a fair size bigger then Bilbo's and has a bit more cushion. I can't count the number of times I've accidentally fallen asleep in it while the fire is going." She reminisces, staring off into the treeline dreamily, thinking of how simple her afternoons had once been.
Fili grins, a chuckle sounding from his throat as he looks back forward, watching as Kili went around messing with the other dwarves and in turn watching Balin scold the young dwarf for his behavior. "Perhaps it is my dwarven ways, I'm not at all accustomed to a hobbits idea of comfort, but I am glad you have that to look forward to when you return." He hums, voice calm and relaxed as the warm summer air seeps through his clothes and skin. "Perhaps..." He continues after a moment of comfortable silence "I'll be able to convince Thorin to set you up a room in the palace once we take it back...you know...just in case you would like to stay a little longer after all is said and done." He suggests, obviously holding onto a bit of hope that she would be enticed to stay around if he were to set up a room that mimicked the hominess of her Hobbit hole.
Iridian, of course, was touched and a bit giddy at the offer, a smile gracing her lips for what seemed the hundredth time during their conversation. "I would like that...besides, with all of you acting the way you do, you'll still have use of me yet as your healer." She teases, her heart leaping when she feels his hand inching towards her in a stealthy way, his pinky moving slightly to brush over her own.
"I couldn't agree more..." He replies lowly, a light smile tugging at the corner of his lips, his own heart racing slightly at the slight touch of her hand against his. They sat there a moment longer, staring at each other as if they were the treasure they were all searching for at the end of their journey, both hyper aware of how their hands moved closer until they were lightly intertwined, the textures contrasting each other in a way that was both vastly different and simultaneously comforting.
They surely would have stayed like that a while longer if it weren't for the shrill whistle that cut through the air, making the both of them jump and tear their hands from each other as if they had been burned. Their attention was quickly grabbed by a laughing Kili, the dark haired dwarf doubled over in a fit of giggles. Fili, of course, was less than happy with the interruption, so much so he was over to Kili in less then a second, tackling his brother and wrestling with him in the dirt. Iridians cheeks were a bright red from the embarrassment that had set in, but she laughed all the same at the scene in front of her, watching as Balin shook his head at the antics, and Bilbo (who had been sitting beside Thorin) looked onto the wrestling match with a slightly ruffled and worried expression as he to worried one of them would break something one of these days if they weren't careful.
"Why fight with me, dear brother, when you could be getting all dolly with the Hobbit~!" Kili mocks, giggles continuing to exit his lips despite Fili having him in a headlock, looking something akin to a bear who has just had his berries and honey stolen by a badger.
Iridian smiles, shaking her head at the scene. The brothers would be locked in that fight for a few minutes, and she was growing tired. So instead of waiting, she stands up and makes her way over to the supply packs, putting her plate back with the other dishes (courtesy of Bilbo who insisted on proper eating ware) and walks over to where she had set up her own bedroll, which in a small attempt of privacy had been a bit closer to the river and was a good ten feet from the others.
By the time the brothers had stopped fighting and Fili looked back around for Iridian, she was settled into her bedroll sound asleep. Fili has half a mind to pummel Kili again before he thinks better of it and simply goes to his own bedroll, muttering curses under his breath. He made it a priority to catch up with her when they reached town tomorrow and apologize on his brother's behalf for interrupting them. And perhaps, if he was lucky, continue the moment and make it last a bit longer.

NEED ADVICE, AM I OBJECTUMSEXUAL???
So I've come to the conclusion i may be an objectum.
I say this because it's like....having a crush? or a type? but it's me with robots. (specifically computers, like the old 90's computers. and wires.) I originally thought it was because they were just super cool, and maybe a hyper fixation? but then I got into like...robot fics? and art? and I have an old 90's computer at my house I would do literally anything before because it's just so cute? and thinking about it, it makes sense, because when I was a kid (and even now honestly) i would view plushies, toys, and even just random things as alive so I would never want to get rid of it or treat it wrong. so I think it followed me into adulthood where i just REALLY love computers.
I've even considered working in computer science just to be closer to them. (NOT IN SOME WEIRD WAY WHERE I'M MAKING OUT WITH A SCREEN AT WORK!!!!)
I don't know. I just lowkey really wanna kiss a computer screen, treat it right, handle it gently. stuff like that...is this normal?
