Little boredom fic I have now become obsessed with writing 😭

The rain just began to patter lightly against the soft skyroof, and a light thundering was heard in the distance.

Crowley was swirling a glass of red in his hand, watching the other intently with almost catlike precision every time his plump pink lips sipped the cocoa mug in his other hand.

Thunder rumbled closer, and Aziraphale's eyes drooped as the night dragged on. He placed the book down on the table, and pulled the tartan blanket over his legs, shifting around a bit in his seat.

"Tired, Angel?" Crowley's voice came warm and soft.

"Quite..." Aziraphale nodded, pulling his glasses off.

"Why don't you turn in? I'll clean up a bit." Crowley rose, placing his glass on the table.

"You sure dear? I can do the washing up." Aziraphale made to get up, but the demon waved him off.

"Shoo angel, shoo."

Aziraphale smiled and shuffled up the stairs, turning his back to the demon.

"Goodnight, Crowley dear."

"Night, Angel." Crowley replied, shuffling off to the kitchen to clean up.

Aziraphale changed to some comfy tartan pyjamas, and was snoring softly, his round cheeks squished against the pillows.

When Crowley crept in about an hour later, he was wearing silk bottoms, and a black t-shirt.

He climbed into bed, careful not to disturb the angel, and lay back, listening to the rain patter softly against the window.

Thunder rumbled, and lightning cracked across the sky. Crowley shivered, and rolled over.

His heart jumped in his chest when he saw Aziraphale had turned in his sleep, and was now facing the demon.

His pale face was relaxed and peaceful in sleep, and the rain made a gentle lullaby that was soothing to Crowley.

He didn't really sleep. He never had. But sometimes it was nice to just lay down and leech some body heat from the angel, who was always so warm, and cuddly, and soft and pudgy..

"Hmnnn...." The angel shifted again, scooting closer to the divot Crowley was currently occupying.

Crowley froze as he felt the warm breath of the angel on his face, and the soft, curly white hair brushed his neck.

He didn't want to move, lest he wake him, but the angel was very, very close.

And Crowley, well, he was getting warmer.

Aziraphale snuffled, and moved closer still, draping a plump arm across the demon's narrow waist, and nuzzling his cheek into his chest.

Crowley was definitely getting warmer. And he was definitely in his own personal Heaven right now.

Anecdotally: my co-workers would joke about computers being afraid of me because whenever they had a problem and called for my help, the problem wouldn't occur again once I stood there and watched.

Also, further co-morbidities like mentioned above exist.

I haven't read the fic yet, but since it's dystopian and contains all the triggers, I guess being a technopath is not a good thing, then?

I don't really know what happened that jkr thinks she is entitled to an apology, but these posts summarise what PR is: it's turning words and pictures into weapons.

And what's funny is that the other night when I couldn't sleep, I wondered what Emma Watson thought about jkr's transphobic shit. I think I got my answer 🤔

This is fascinating for two reasons.

1. They haven’t actually apologised for anything. She’s pre-emptively rejecting an apology that they have no intention of giving.

2. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are extremely well-liked. A lot of people are more attached to them in their roles as they are to the actual characters in the books.

What does JK Rowling gain by coming out with this?

I haven't read the book yet, but the article was soothing and at the same time made me angry, because I have been called lazy by so many people, and I even believed it for a huge part of my life.

I wish I had known this 20 or 30 years ago. And to all my neurodivergent followers: I hope this can help you when you're beating yourself up again because of something you didn't do in time or at all.

Please be kind to yourself. You will have to be your own ally and advocate for yourself and your needs I'm afraid, because society will need so much more time to learn.

I kind of assumed Crowley to be more on the adhd-side of neurodivergence, but I can totally see what you're saying. The Bentley and his plants are definitely what the bookshop, books and food are to Aziraphale.

Plus I like the thought that Aziraphale borrowing the Bentley actually made it safer against demons, even if they aren't really aware of it and Aziraphale invited Shax in anyway.

The autistic community in this fandom has repeatedly said that Aziraphale is extremely autistic coded. Maybe we should start listening. Let's go. *SIGHS*

There's so much I could talk about the critiques I see over this mostly pretty harmless scene, but I'll try to focus on the ableism here:

Aziraphale's playfulness is called "roleplaying" and "dismissive of Crowley's feelings" here. And I must say, as an autistic person, I find it offensive bc this is an extremely autistic coded moment where Aziraphale was unmasking in front of the only person he allows himself to do so and that usually implies he was inviting Crowley to do the same, he was most likely aware of Crowley's anxiety there and making himself vulnerable to him by unmasking, inviting him into his space and vice-versa. (I think calling his special interest, magic, "horrible" is also anti-autistic bias btw)

We never see Aziraphale acting like this with any other character besides Crowley, with whom he does this repeatedly. It's not a new situation. Crowley knows this, and he is used to this kind of behaviour from Aziraphale. And he loves to complain about it btw, and Aziraphale indulges him on that. This is love. This is intimacy.

I know it isn't perfect, I know it lacks verbal communication, but this isn't abusive behaviour in the slightest. Better communication is something they both need to work on after 6k years of having to hide their feelings bc they were being persecuted and abused, the story is telling us this. We have a whole other season for that, the story isn't over.

Now, regarding the second paragraph, the plot made it painfully obvious that the clue was real, so Aziraphale was not going to Edinburgh for fun. He had to go, and Crowley knew it (he never even argued against it), bc of the mystery of Gabriel's situation thay could backfire on them in the future. Who knows what Heaven was doing to their angels (and what they could do to aziracrow!! That's why Crowley had an informant. Didn't Metatron prove this in the end, that the threat was real?). Sure, Aziraphale had fun, bc he was bonding with Crowley through the Bentley and he loves him, so that makes him happy, but that's it. We're allowed to make the most out of a bad situation, guys. It's also a way to deal with stress. Aziraphale and Crowley have different ways of dealing with stress, and both are valid, they're different people, it's normal that they react differently to a crisis.

This scene was a very married moment tbh, filled with comfort with you partner (enough to unmask), an old known and comfortable dance for the both of them, and even an invite to take a step forward in their relationship.

Food for thought: I've been wondering why the fandom likes to say Azi and Crowley are like a "married couple" but some ppl at the same time hate when they in fact act like one?

And finally, again, this is such an autistic coded moment that I, an autistic person, had the exact same interpretation as Aziraphale. I had never noticed, until I read this take, that Crowley could've meant anything other than "you don't know how to drive" lol. Aziraphale was being himself here. His true confident unmasked self. Bc Crowley allows him that. Bc Crowley makes him feel like he can. He wasn't pretending or intentionally misinterpreting or manipulating anyone. Assuming the absolute worst of him bc he interpreted something in a literal way is anti-autistic bias. Assuming the worst of him bc he doesn't use the same code as you to communicate is ableism. Assuming his decision-making logic is invalid bc of the way he acts when unmasking is both.

May I add that a lot of people start researching after they were peer-reviewed by other autistics, officially diagnosed or not; or after learning about other autistics' experiences and feeling so very seen.

Plus a huge problem is masking. I didn't even know I was masking until one and a half years ago, so whenever I brought it up with a professional, I was told that I don't seem like that at all. After the second or third time you start to doubt yourself if you don't know you're masking.

Please help me. My name is Shirley. I am autistic and disabled. I ran away from my abusive parents a few years ago. I’ve been moving from place to place. A man offered me a place to stay when I was homeless. He knew I had Asperger’s syndrome and took advantage of me. I basically slept with him for shelter. A couple of months ago I was able to find my own apartment. Things went downhill when I was fired from my third job. It has been very difficult for me to find employment due to mental health issues. I have been transferring money out of my credit card to my debit card in order to pay my rent. I also have to pay interest. My credit card is about to be maxed out and I could get evicted. I don’t think I could survive on the streets.

I befriended a couple of crows a while back by giving them food whenever I ran into them. They recognised me, even traded one walnut for three hazelnuts once. This had been going on for quite a while, almost two years.

One day I made the mistake of trying to feed them when I had just come back from the vet with my cat still in the container. The cat is black and meowed maybe once, but the crow realised what was going on, card at me very scandalised, didn't touch the food I had offered and I never saw them again.

I don't know if it was the fact that I had a black animal in a container with me or that it was a cat, but they obviously didn't approve...
