Heeeeey I'm not sure if posting this on tumblr is allowed? But what are they gonna do, ban an account I rarely use? huehuehue Anyway. Hi! I'm a Scorch, and I'm non-binary. I'm sure a lot of you have heard the same sorts of stories concerning dysphoria and body horror and all that fun trans stuff, so I won't bore or retraumatize anyone with the nitty gritty of all that. Just wanna yeet some tests, if ya know what I mean. Sad annoying story of thinking it's all gonna go ok and insurance is gonna cover it, and then it don't be that way. So here I am, begging, borrowing, bartering to try and get this surgery funded. My partner and metamore are getting married in August (I'm officiating!!) and I was hoping that I would be able to have gotten my surgery done and healed up by then so I could show up in those pictures as my most authentic self. If I hadn't had the insurance snaffo, I probably was going to be able to but... idk. It's a soft pie in the sky goal, but I'm willing to push as long as it takes to finally get this weight off my chest (emotionally, literally, figuratively, pun-y). It's something that really effects my mental health and probably contributes to my executive dysfunction making it hard for me to be creative, and I hate that for me. Anything you guys can do to help. Share, like, comment, reblog, send a dollar, every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated <3

I am ok, I just had a giant mental health shenanigans that hit me between the eyes and... Kinda haven't been able to get my executive dysfunction to allow me to write until last month. But I'm doing tons better now and actually writing again. I'm trying to log some hours into Let Me Be, and I'm working on a new CaitVi fic that is.... High-key low-key my emotional experience right now with this girl and I. Am so in love with them XD

Let Me Be The Place That You Hide Chapter 7: Liquid Courage

Catra was sitting in her room, waiting. Adora should’ve been here hours ago… She checked her phone again, hoping to at least have a text. This was so unusual for her. Adora was never late, and had never failed to communicate with her when they had a plan to meet. She chewed on her lip, trying to fight the anxiety rising in her gut. This was… Catra didn’t know what. She decided to call her one more time, and if Adora didn’t answer… She tapped her phone a few times before bringing it to her ear and waited, the apprehension growing stronger with every unanswered ring. 

She was sure now. Something was wrong. Catra hung up and quickly typed in an order for an Uber. She hurriedly put on her shoes and climbed out the window and waited in front of the house next door for her ride. She grabbed the twenty she had stuffed in her pocket when the car pulled up and she hopped in.

I'm genuinely surprised no one's mentioned Dante's Inferno yet. The most famous self-insert Bible fanfiction that was so popular the Catholic church has canonized it, not once but twice concerning how hell and the afterlife works. (These days they try to pretend it isn't, but they still haven't officially decanonized it from the last time.)

I'm not sure I can overstate this.

This work of fanfiction where the plot is essentially the self-insert meeting his most favorite author and becoming his BFF and traipsing through the levels of purgatory and hell (which were a creative idea, not biblically based), meeting all sorta of famous figures of history along the way the author didn't like (Greek heroes, politicians, certain popes?!) All suffering around him while he searched the afterlife for his dead girlfriend who he was missing.

It was canonized by the Roman Catholic church and since the protestant reformation, these canonized ideals have been taken by most every denomination in the Christian tradition. People now live and die by these doctrines, scare the shit out of people with them. Because. Fanfiction. The whole course of church history in Christianity was altered because a dude missed his girlfriend, wanted to buddy around with his fav author, and hated a handful of dudes.

If some guy can do that, then you have every goddamn right to do all the fan works you please without shame or embarrassment.

Paint master pieces, write epics, create whatever it is you're passionate about!! Fuck the patriarchy trying to put you down. We don't give a shit about what they think anyway, why would we let them ruin the joy we derive from creating?

Do you ever think you'll stop drawing fanart? No offense it just seems like the kind of thing you're supposed to grow out of. I'm just curious what your plans/goals are since it isn't exactly an art form that people take seriously.

Sad, immature girls no one takes seriously. Girls who are taught that it’s shameful to be excited or passionate about anything, that it’s pathetic to gush about what attracts them, that it’s wrong to be a geek, that they should feel embarrassed about having a crush, that they’re not allowed to gaze or stare or wish or desire. Girls who need to grow out of it.

That’s the art you mean, right?

Because in my experience, when grown men make it, nobody calls it fanart. They just call it art. And everyone takes it very seriously.
