I think I've finally understood why arguing with rightoids and arguing with leftists are two experiences so different that the vastness between them is similar to the depth of the Pacific Ocean.
Leftists, by and large, operate on a set of ethics that states that the more oppressed you are by mainstream society, the better you are, and as such, they'll twist themselves into pretzels, contradicting any and every possible iota of logic and common sense to call themselves the most oppressed person on Earth to avoid accountability and to gain internet clout, sympathy, and preferential treatment. Arguing with leftists almost always winds up going nowhere because when you argue with a leftist, by and large they'll just search for any possible way they can to label themselves as being more oppressed than you and they'll never listen to anyone they consider to be less oppressed than they are so even if you don't buy into their belief system, arguing with leftists is like playing chess with a pigeon.
Rightoids, on the other hand, mainly operate on vibes. If you do everything in your power to never make any demands on them, never ask them to change their behavior, and successfully avoid standing out in any way, they'll ignore you. On the other hand, even if you share factual information with them, a lot of them will still ignore you if they decide the information you shared doesn't match their vibes. As frustrating as this can be, it's ultimately preferable to arguing with leftists because at the end of the day, no matter what you say or do, a rightoid will just call you a fat gay retard if they disagree with you and that's the end of it-it's stupid and annoying, but it's also simple, straightforward, and to the point, no mess, no muss, simple as can be.

While protecting and defending the rights of people to create and enjoy whatever kind of art they want is a principle that's important to me, especially in times like this, there's a strain of thought/philosophy in a lot of fandom spaces, especially on places like Tumblr, that the more weird/freaky/bizzare/kinky stuff you like, the more cool and hip you are and that anyone who prefers more simple things is a boring lame prude and that there are only two kinds of people, cool/edgy/weird/transgressive freaks (but only if you're the "right" kind of freak, which is a whole other can of worms I won't go into now) and boring bland lame-ass basic bitches when people and their likes/dislikes/tastes/preferences/personalities are way more nuanced than that.
If you're serious about not assigning moral judgment to people on people for creating or enjoying art, writing, or any other kind of fiction, you have to apply that to people who are less unusual or don't stand out as much just as much as the people who are more weird/strange/freaky or else you're just a hypocrite.

The twitter ghoul shouting "your body my choice" is a grade a wad of fuck but if you get shadowbanned enough, the internet actually does become a void to yell into. That said, Tumblr staff is particularly lazy so maybe they just can't be bothered to do their damn jobs.

This is incredibly ironic to see considering there's at least a 99% chance OP would spontaneously combust if they saw my blog.
"everybody hates me" factoid actually just a statistical error. The average person doesn't hate you, especially not your friends. You, a person who sits in your room experiencing self loathing every day, are an outlier adn should not have been counted.
#judal speaks#the coyote talks#“nobody would hate you” only applies if you have what people deem the “correct” opinions

I really do not give a singular solid crap of a shit of a fuck about men liking sexy fictional characters and I don't see why anyone else does either. If you like women, you get more sexy characters too, if you like men or you don't like anyone at all, you can just make your own fanservice or enjoy fanservice that's more directed towards your tastes, and either way, nobody benefits from censorship. Enjoy the boobs, ignore the boobs, but for the love of fuck, it's not and never will be a problem for people to like things you don't like, fiction is not that deep and never will be.

Parasocial relationships are really ruining people's perception of what friendships and other sorts of relationships are supposed to be like. Contrary to what pop culture, online discourse, and oblivious online influencers try to tell you, all human relationships are meant to be reciprocal. The meaning behind that is that if you want to be in a relationship with someone, you have to put effort into it and you have to take the time to develop a genuine connection with someone.
With the rise of people substituting online interactions for real life interactions for many reasons, which I won't go into in this post, many people have gotten accustomed to just being fed content by other people and just passively consuming what they see or hear from other people without ever taking the time to put themselves out into the world at all, to express their own thoughts and ideas, and to reach out to other people on a regular, consistent basis.
Life happens and sometimes things get in the way of the best laid plans, but a lack of effort borne out of laziness is a terrible way to form, build, and maintain relationships. Likewise, some issues can offer an explanation-not an excuse-as to why some people struggle with relationships, but if you want relationships, you have to work on improving whatever it is you struggle with, and if that idea strikes you as unfair, ableist, or bigoted, you're never going to get anywhere. You don't have to commit to grand gestures or displays of affection to win people over, but you do have to try to reach out to people, stay in touch with people, and help them when they need it.
There are a lot of people who expect that everything should be perfectly effortless and that life should always be nothing less than 100% comfortable and a lot of those same people apply that logic to relationships and then wonder why they feel lonely and unfulfilled. This site in particular loves to glorify wallowing in mental illness (real or self-diagnosed,) being purposely lazy to "stick it to the man," and reflexively doing whatever the opposite of what the majority of people in the real world do, and this leads to the sort of mal-adaptive behavior that leaves many people on this site (and online in general,) struggling to form relationships. Everything worth doing in life requires effort, every human civilization since the dawn of time has understood this, and nowadays you have people that balk about doing something as basic as being expected to communicate with their friends and then they turn around and complain about how shallow, ignorant, and close-minded "normies" are and they bemoan the fact that people treat them like they're antisocial.

wait do people read first person stories and think they're the ones in the story???
Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like "I would not do that" and I don't understand that mindset.
First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn't about you???? At least I thought it wasn't. What am I missing? I've always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character's mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.
