The State of Modern Music
Today's practice what we once considered "modern" music suddenly see themselves to be alone. A confusing game of not making music that the disciplines and tools of research required for their formation set. Stories circulate now to strengthen and expand this unwelcome development. Once upon a time, one can not even too much music in the U.S., unless well prepared to the commandments and teachings to bear the serialism. Now if you hear of professors shamelessly studying scores Respighi to the magic of their mass taste extract, we know there is a crisis. This crisis is the perception of even the most trained musicians. Composers today seem certain difficult truths hide in relation to the creative process. They have their search for the tools that they create really striking and challenging listening experience helps abandoned. I believe that is because they create a lot of ideas in modern music are confused! First, let's examine the attitudes that are necessary, but that have been abandoned for the development of specialized disciplines in the creation of a permanent modern music. This music that we can and must create a crucible in which the magic is brewed in our souls, and it is this that frames the leaders of our templates very creative evolution in thinking. It is this generative process that had its heyday in the early 1950s. In the 1960s many aspiring musicians had the wonders of fresh and exciting new world of integrated serial Stockhausen, that love has become all the rage back then. It seemed boundless excitement, then. It seemed there would be no limits to the creative impulse; composer could do anything, so it seemed. At the time, most composers were not really serialism carefully examined for its inherent limitations. But it seemed so fresh. But it soon became clear that Stockhausen's exciting musical approach that was fresh and not so much the serial nature itself to which he then married. It became clear later that the methods he uses two special considerations to overcome the ultimate serial devices have been born: The intersection of tempo and metrical patterns, and especially the concept that pitch and timbre treated as special cases of rhythm. (Stockhausen pointed to the crossovers such as Contacts, and he even one of his compositions, which authorizes this area contacts investigated.) This gesture, as it turns out, are truly independent of seriality that they can be explored from different approaches. The most spectacular approach was then serialism, however, and not so much the (then acting) sidelights. It is precisely this approach - serialism - but that, after apparently opens up so many new doors, germinated the seeds of modern music very own demise. The method is very susceptible to mechanical divination. Consequently, it makes it easy composition, such as following a recipe. In serial composition, the less thoughtful composer can seem to distract his mind away from the compositional process. Inspiration can be buried as a method exists. The chaotic intricacies note design and epiphanies one experiences of necessary partnership with one of the essences (within the spirit and the soul - in a sense, our confidant) can be disposed of easily. Everything is inside out. Everything is fragmented. For a long time this was awarded the method, long hallowed by class teachers and young composers to be equal, at least in the U.S.. Soon a feeling of sterility emerged in the musical atmosphere, many composers began to investigate what was going on. The replacement of sentimental romance with atonal music was an important step in the recovery of the music from a sluggish Cul-de-sac was. A music that would closet himself in banal self-indulgence, as it seemed to fall apart with romance would occur. Here came a time for exploration. The new alternative - atonality - arrived. It was the fresh, if seemingly harsh, antidotes. Arnold Schoenberg had stored music, for the moment. But shortly thereafter made a serious tactical blunder Schoenberg. The 'rescue' by the introduction of a method to control with the shared process and order could be subject to cut off! I have some sympathy here for express Sch? Nberg, who was helpless in the sea of freedom provided by the disconnexity atonality. Large forms depend to some extent the sequence. was needed for him a method of order. Serialism was a good answer? I'm not so sure it was. Its introduction provided a magnet to all those who need explicit maps from which they could build, felt would attract. At the time, Stockhausen and Boulez arrived at the scene, serialism was touted as the cure for all the musical problems, including lack of inspiration! One minute pause and think of two pieces by Schoenberg, that the issue be brought to light: Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21 (1912 - pre-serial atonality) and the Suite, Op. 29 (1924 serial atonality). Pierrot ... seems so important, unleashed, almost insane rage in his special report, while the suite sounds sterile, dry and forced. In the latter piece, the tension was lost. This is what serialism, seems to have to do music. But the attention she received was disproportionate to its generative power. Boulez once even proclaimed to all other composition as "useless"! If the "illness" - serialism - was bad, a "cure" him - was even worse - without a chance. In a series of lectures in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1958, succeeded John Cage to prove that the result of the music written by chance differs very little from the written serialism means. However, the chances for the public left confused and angry. Chance is chance. There is nothing to hold on to those not lead to the mind. Even powerful musical personalities, such as Cage, often have difficulty reining in the raging dispersion and diffusion, the random scatter, seemingly aimlessly. But once discovered, many schools, particularly in the U.S., a sensation in the making with the entry of free opportunity in the music scene, and uncertainty, a new mantra for anyone to create something a little interested, so long as it was new. I believe in passing that some admit Cage quarter that we are reluctant to cede to others. Chance often has become a stronghold of the lack of discipline in the music. Too often I have this result in university classes seen in the U.S. that 'teaching' found (!) 'Music. should make the severity of the discipline in the music never gone in search of a music that is "found", instead of being pushed together. However, in a most peculiar, it seems the power of the Cage's personality, and his surprising sense of rigor and discipline to his "chance" Art, where other composers simply save flounder in the sea of uncertainty. But bequeathed as a solution to the rigor mortis Sun cosmic music of serial controlled, the chance is very poor stepsister. Cageian the composer the chance to talk music, can make to the soul, is a rare bird indeed. What seemed lacking for many of the scent, makes the music was so wonderful atmospheric. The atmosphere, which could trigger a Debussy, or the fear that was relied on by Schoenberg (or provoke), appeared with the modern technocratic or unconventional ways to evaporate the new musicians. Iannis Xenakis shaken the world of music with the potent solution in the form of a "stochastic" music. As Xenakis' work later would develop clear in Desk in connexity and disconnexity and provides a template for Julio Estrada's Continuum, the road to restoration of the power, beauty and fragrance in sound was. All of this conceptual approach in a "modernist"! Once again, however, took the U.S. university environment more (usually under the suffocating influence of the serial method, Milton Babbitt) to remind us that it is not nice music by making it to him by "borrowing" from extra-musical disciplines. While his book, talks with Xenakis, the author, Balint Andr? S Vargas, joined by Xenakis, the evolution of Xenakis' work approaches of extra-musical considerations. Physics concepts come to fruition, such as noise propagation material through a crowd or hail showers on metal roofs. Some refer to horrible memories of war experiences suffered by Xenakis, culminating in a severe wound. To form such a powerful sound, concepts had used natural phenomena can be marshaled. From the standpoint of music lessons, are two things disturbing about Xenakis: one is its relatively little formal musical training, the other or reverse side of his scientifically oriented educational background. In ways no one else had done in the history of music ever marshaled Xenakis concepts, the birth of a musical atmosphere that no one could ever expect there to exist in a setting. A striking feature is a sound setting, Brownian motion of a particle emulated on a liquid surface. This deeply physical concept needs to restrict the movements of high-performance mathematics of the (analog) sound 'particles' and make them true to the concept Xenakis had in mind. It is as a result of a certain lack of precision, although a physical smoothness, the movement of sound particles. Nice musical smoothness and transition to unforeseen development and transformation. This concept blows the skin from the traditional concepts of musical pattern setting! His shimmering shadows are unwelcome in the gray gloom of the American classroom. In the rush to keep things musical musical and certain undesirable developments, the official musical intelligence (the press, the elite U.S. university, professors, etc.) managed to find a way to resolve false heroes for the disturbing Xenakis replacement. Around the time of Xenakis' entry into the musical scene, and his unsettling delivery of the vibrant musical landscapes, telephone with sensational theories for stochastic incarnations, a group of composers emerged who promised to supply us from evil, built with simple-minded solutions on shaky intuitive building. The so-called "cluster" group of would-be magician musical are included Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk G? Recki and Gyorgy Ligeti. This new musical favorites, with its simple methods, gave us the first taste of the soon to emerge post-modernism, who gave us a ticket to the promised land for the last thirty years made. It seemed that, just like music finally seemed not a master of the caliber and importance of Bach, Schoenberg, Bartok and Varese in the person of Iannis Xenakis, history and musicology texts to be able to withdraw not embrace fast enough to the new savior , all the time find a comprehensive conspiracy against creativity quickly and well embedded in the chaos of the stochastic process. Unfortunately, Xenakis had been banished from American history, as much as the powers have been able to do this! His competition, which was in the intuitive cluster school the game plans of the new music landscape, since their work is so much easier than that of Xenakis. Simple composition, analysis and listening are the new watchwords of this signal success in the music world. Those who extol such virtues to herald the arrival and flourishing of postmodernism and all its facets, be it neo-romantic, clustering or eclecticism. The proud cry these days is, "Now we can about everything we do." Perhaps better to do nothing than to embrace such intellectual cowardice. The promise of a return to musical perfume, which was in harmony and synchronicity with intellectual power walk precious and important. It should signal the next phase of development in the creative spirit. The challenge was to write this potential marriage of the humanities overwhelming. Lack of adequate text seemed to exist. So I had to provide one. All that was missing for a good book was a common theme. Algorithms control the migration of the sounds. Algorithms are diagrams that work the properties of sound, so it makes sense to develop. An algorithm is a step-function, which can range from a simple diagram to stochastic or Boolean functions. Serialism is also an algorithm. While they are important algorithms take second place in importance in the eyes of the music: its sound. This concentration is for a term of composers, Gerard Pape: sound-composition. Is not this all based music sound? It's all sound, after all. Well, yes, but not really. The point of the term, the focus of the concept is to mark on the clay instead used the funds for its genesis. In the sound-composition, the focus is on a sound, it evokes the way to do it. In serialism, takes precedence over quality orders. The result is often bland: an empty sound. Pointillism directionless music robs its important role in the evocation of images, in any form. The other leading practitioners of sound-based composition is Dr. Julio Estrada. In composition courses and seminars at the UNAM (Universidad National Autonoma de M? Xico) he emphasizes the spiritual formation of an imaginary, as it were, an idealized images. Then the composer / inside will be seeking to create a conspiratorial tone being that some of the? Lan to formulate this imaginary taught. Only if the speed of sound thought construct, the method of the equalizer in the form of notation is used. Understanding of images and the scent preceding its specification. This is a sophisticated example of sound-based composition. A strange, special case arose from the obscure methods of Giacinto Scelsi, who made explicit what has long been lurking in the background. He postulates a "3 rd dimension to sound. He felt that the problems were with the serialism in their dependence on two dimensions in sound: pitch and duration. For Scelsi, offers a depth of timbre, or 3 Dimension, rarely studied up to his groundbreaking work. He devised ways to call for unusual timbres and developments in the sound, which in its focus on the features of the episode, and the transformations between (within!), attributes of the individual notes. In fact, his Quattro Pezzi veritable study in counterpoint within individual tones! The concept of sound composition, provided the unifying seed to a book which could be built. that is, music with meaning requires, challenge, discipline, ambiance and a little courage and commitment in its concept: It would be one that could salvage something from the first principles of the Union of intellectual discipline and a pulsing sound context. This would be a music special, beautiful, strong, seductive fruit, which still reveal their secrets only reluctantly yields demanding skilful elaboration of its magic. This epiphany led to a road by which we restore the ideal of musical performance Xenakian accessible by all processes which have their basis in physics and architecture in the world could have around us. Here was not only the answer, the antidote if you will, to the inflexibility of serialism, but also a cure for the sloppiness of the unlimited possibility composition. Here was a way out of the impasse faced composition in the 1960s. The question should not use the method to compose, because that only leads to dead ends (serialism, chance, or withdrawal), but why compose? What is not explored in the musical universe, can open paths, roads, something that reveals the touch a soul? What is the best way to achieve this? If we leave the streets in search of unique and challenging, we are the first generation will announce more in the music that regression is progress that less is more. But the great apostle of postmodernism we will only believe! They hold that the public has rejected the modern world, the public has held the modern bankrupt. Post-modernists are you promised in the trap, the unmitigated by its nature, serialism only lure his downfall. "The only path to modernity is sterile complexity, we must root out and return to simplicity, we will not be a marketable product, other." This is the thinking that we minimalism, the closest relatives to "muzak" one can conjure up in art-music. A composer, a unique avant-garde, actually apologized for his former Modern, on stage, the audience before the screening of his latest post-modern work! There is an inscription in the halls of the monastery in Toledo, Spain: "Caminante, no hay caminos, Hay que caminar" (Pilger, there is no road, only the travel costs). This was a wake for one of the most courageous pilgrims music history - a fighter for the freedom of spirit, for the body, and for the ear: Luigi Nono. His example could serve us all well. He sat down in serious danger as a fighter against the oppression of all kinds, not least the musical art, it takes courage to create. It will not be easy! Nothing worthwhile ever. It seems to me that Nono's example serves as an antithesis to that of the earlier composers. I explore music history of the 20th Century in order to find clues to why certain composers create more tension than others. Is it possible that a solid foundation has composition in an intuitive way from back in the 19 Century flourished? Was around for a while, but just not explicitly codified as such? I think that Sun In a way, the roots of this idea can in the so-called nationalism of composers like beard? K and Janacek be found. Nationalism is something of a bad reputation for folksy, cutesy concoctions reminiscent usually get around him. But on reflection and review of the more stringent efforts result in nationalist composition enormous fruit. Note especially Bart? K highly original equipment of twelve-tone tonality (as axis positions and special chords). Less well known but equally important are the special folk vocal inflections residence in Jan? Cek music. These special qualities spilled over from the singing to the instrumental writing. It seems that we (concentrated composition to specific sound characteristics) a strong argument for sound-based composition in music from the turn of the 20th Century roots to make. The process of creation is the focus, not the glorification of the superficial sounds that only imitate real music. The reintroduction of Xenakis, Nono, Scelsi's ideals and Estrada's superiority was decisive. The recognition of these trends, in preference to those engaged the more simple and easily the most attractive of Penderecki, Ligeti and others, had to be ensured. The simplistic appeal of the cluster music had to be resisted. If we not make this distinction clear, everything that follows nonsense. Too many people modernism apply to everything in the 20 Century, which contained a little dissonance resided. This is a common mistake. For others, there are in every epoch of modern art - it's just what happened at a certain time, and is appropriate as a description for the music in this period. Again, this is wrong, for its reluctance to confront the creative process. We do not have to do it this impulsive descriptions yield, for this makes the efforts of the 20 deep Century meaningless. There is a thread in the music, that qualifies as a modern, or modernist, and it is not only a time frame. Modernism is an attitude. This attitude appears regularly in music history, but it is most effectively understood in the context of creativity, most found pronounced late in the 20th Century. Modern music is composed the music that results from research into the properties of sound and the ways how we perceive sound. It usually involves experimentation to carry the experiment yields specific findings, the fruits in the act of composing. This distinction is important because although many clusters music, and some neo-classical music, contains high dissonance, whose focus is reactionary. The experimental work of Schoenberg, Berg, Webern, Bartok, Varese, and that some Stravinsky, is forward looking, that the music is not a solution to itself: it provides a template for further work and exploration in this area. All the more, the works of Cage, Xenakis, Scelsi, Nono and Estrada. The composers chosen for discussion in this are the ones I used for the exemplary models in the development of sound-based composition. They are as follows:-Janacek (nationalist tone) -Debussy (chord-staining) Mahler (expressionism and tone color theme) -Ravel (Impressionism) -Malipiero (intuitive discourse) Hindemith (expressionism in a quasi-tonal context) -Stravinsky (octatonic diatonic) -Bartok (axial tonality, Curved, golden section under construction) Schoenberg (expressionism, atonality and tone color melody)) Mountain ("tonal serialism) -Webern (canonical forms in serialism, sound color melody) -Varese (noise, tone / range hierarchies) Messiaen (modes limited implementation, irreversible rhythms, chords color) -Boulez (special live electronic instruments) -Stockhausen (pitch / rhythm dichotomy) -Cage (uncertainty, noise, live electronics) -Xenakis (ataxia, stochastic music, indoor / outdoor time on the internet, random walks, granularity, non-periodic scale) -Nono (near inaudibility, mobile sound, special electronics) Lutoslawski (chain composition) -Scelsi (the 3rd dimension in tone, counterpoint within a single sound) -Estrada (The Continuum) There is so much brilliance in the world, and so much noise that we made incapable of reflection and creative thinking. We are humbled at the thought of a little challenge. We are paralyzed when faced with the challenge of keeping our evolutionary heritage in focus. We can not afford to trade off quality for mediocrity just because mediocrity easier and more tempting. This was not an acceptable social outcome. To live, we need to grow. To thrive, we can not rest. Entertainment is a laudable pursuit in specific settings and times. It may not have the power drives our lives. If a composer wants to popular music, that's all write to order. But the composer must be honest about his reasons for it. Do not write a conversation and then try the public by claiming the great music system is equipped. It is best to be in a position to implement the key to writing a music that can discover a need to meet tomorrow. By understanding the nature, the nature of sound and of human existence, we can write music can convey something essential. This goes beyond entertainment. It fulfills the main purpose of music: providing a teaching role. What better way to go through a learning process than at the same time find yourself wrapped in a cocoon of beauty? Music can be our best teacher. It is all right to find the beauty in old documents. Respighi is also very charming, engaging. It can also be heard equally well with soothing, melodious music, as to write such music. But we can not do as a composer better than this? Why do we can not otherwise enjoy, tomorrow? Young composers are now at a crossroads. You can perform an important mission by fulfilling a tradition with a cultural heritage. Today's composers have to start thinking about it and compose it.

The Green Beginner's Guide to Energy DIY DIY Solar Panels
Green DIY natural energy, nonpolluting and renewable. It is gaining popularity for consumption. The energy most commonly used green comes from solar or wind power. Both save the average homeowner a lot of money and also help reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. DIY kits savings increased consumption, more than if solar or wind power is installed professionally. Not only the use of green energy to save money on bills by the owner of energy per month, but the government rebates and tax incentives are also available. DIY kits help homeowners avoid having to pay professional contractors to install solar panels or wind turbines. If this is done by a professional, this can be very expensive and significantly reduce energy savings. The type of kit should be carefully chosen. Instructions can be confusing for people who do not have much experience with home do it yourself jobs. The simplest kits to be used are those dedicated to a specific use, as heating a residential pool. A kit is also more useful if it is modular, which means that another package can be easily added to increase the energy capacity than needed. A solar kit must be able to operate on its own, and need not be connected to home's existing electrical system or plumbing. Kits should have simple instructions, clear diagrams, and come with all necessary parts. It should provide an alternative plan when there is little or no energy available. In other words, it should be able to change the energy consumption of conventional household electricity when its own green energy source is not available. Solar panels are the most popular form of the power of DIY. Solar energy works on the amount of available light, no heat. The solar panels are large panels that contain many small plates that collect sunlight and convert it into energy. Before buying a DIY solar kit, the owner should consider the amount of sunlight in the area where he or she lives. During shorter days of winter cover, solar panels can not produce the amount of energy needed. However, during long, sunny days, the extra power is converted by solar panels. This energy returns to the gate and turned away from the electric meter. This saves the owner more money. Wind energy is increasingly widespread. DIY kits also exist for this type of renewable energy. Similar to solar power, wind power in excess can be sold to power company, generating additional savings owner. Wind energy is converted by a wind turbine, which is connected to a high tower. It recovers the kinetic energy of wind, turning it into electricity that can be used by the electrical system of a house. DIY green energy is becoming more popular. An enormous amount of resources available in the form of general information for hobby kits. Owners must carefully choose the DIY kit right for them, but most are relatively simple. Not only does this green energy to help fight against global warming by helping to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, consumers can realize substantial savings in energy bills.

Facts about solar energy - some things we do not think
Alcoholism facts can help to better understand the extent of the warning signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse. One of the facts is alcoholism - alcoholism is a type of addiction that can be both physical and psychological. Data include the fact that alcohol acts as a depressant of alcohol on the central nervous system, resulting in decreased activity, tensions and inhibitions. Alcohol affects other body systems as well. irritation of the gastrointestinal tract can occur with erosion of the esophagus and stomach lining, causing nausea, vomiting and perhaps bleeding. Additional events are alcohol abuse - liver disease can develop into cirrhosis of the liver. The heart muscles may be adversely affected. Other facts of alcoholism may be linked to sexual dysfunction. In men, erection problems can occur with alcoholism. And alcoholic women may cease to menstruate. These are facts alcohol more: o alcohol and caffeine are the two most widely abused substances in the world. The facts are that alcohol is alcohol dependence more serious due to alcohol related accidents and incidents. O The impact of alcohol consumption and related problems is increasing. The researchers found that about 15% of the population in the United States are drinkers, and about 5-10% of male drinkers and 3-5% of female drinkers could be diagnosed as dependent on the alcohol. This means that 14 million people are affected by alcoholism in the United States alone. These facts of alcoholism numbers do not include family, friends and others most affected by the actions of alcohol. No alcohol can be divided into two categories - abuse and dependence. Addiction to alcohol is alcohol syndrome the most severe and is characterized by tolerance and withdrawal. Tolerance is the need greater amounts of alcohol to get drunk. Withdrawal symptoms occur when alcohol consumption is reduced or eliminated. alcoholic drinkers who are abusing alcohol at different times and have problems such as drunk driving, violent episodes, or missing work or school. No alcohol consumption is primarily influenced by attitudes developed during childhood and adolescence. Furthermore, attitudes and behaviors of parents with alcohol, the influence of peers and family relationships can impact how we view and deal with alcohol. "Problem Drinkers" o Approximately 20% of teenagers were taken into account in the U.S. this means is that they get drunk, they can have accidents, or they have trouble with the law, members Family, friends, school or work because of alcohol consumption and alcohol related facts. O effects of alcohol appear within 10 minutes of alcohol are the maximum in about 40-60 minutes. Alcohol remains in the blood until the liver metabolizes alcohol. If a person consumes alcohol at a rate faster than the liver can break it down, increases the blood alcohol content. O Each state defines alcohol intoxication as measured by the BAC. A field test is commonly used breath test to measure alcohol content in blood for drivers. And the other facts of alcoholism is that most states have a legal limit from 0.08 to 0.10. Different levels lead to effects of increasingly severe. A BAC of 0.05 reduces inhibitions, 0.10 results in slurred speech and a BAC of 0.50 may lead to coma. The information above can be considered as basic facts of alcoholism. If you or someone you know may have a drinking problem and want to learn more facts alcoholism and perhaps seek help, there are resources in various ways. It is never too late to begin recovery of alcohol dependence. Help is available, and the sooner we start the recovery process, the better. Copyright 2006 InfoSearch Publishing

Best part of the News is Those Wacky Headlines
The messages can be an endless source of entertainment. The best thing about them is often the headlines. Most of the time, I could care less about the actual history. The best part is the headline. What I do not like the big stories of the day. To be honest, I could care less Mel Gibson and if he danced naked on a police car while having sex with the skull of Moses or whatever it is that they say he did. Of course, I'm not Jewish. Nevertheless, had offended Protestants I do not think I would care either. If Mel's words, my faith and abuse me that much then, of course, it's time may reconsider my own beliefs. No shake it, I enjoyed the news story I saw yesterday, as India is to hunt on some kind of primate handlers monkeys from the S-Bahn. Apparently, monkeys on the train and was always making angry faces and dark to passengers caused a lot of problems. So, there is another kind of primate with a name I can not remember that scares the monkey. So they got a handler of one of these creatures patrol the trains. I love a good story monkey. When I told a friend yesterday, is a story with a monkey or a Monkee necessarily funny. My favorite part was a quote at the end of the primate handlers. "There are too many monkeys," he is quoted as saying. I think that just about says it all, right? How can we focus on Hezbollah, if there are too many monkeys? Is it bad that there are too many monkeys? Make them throw their hut, but then again so many frat boys and NASCAR fans, it's so hard to say which should be at the exclusion from the party. My other favorite headline yesterday was "MANN panties on his head stealing FUDGE." Man I did not even bother the rest that you read. Regardless of the history, it is impossible to play with the joy of reading that headline. This morning I saw a headline that is similar in this. He says, "Nude man leads police to POT FARM." You can always count on a headline and story about some dude, at the end of the naked and talking to police, to bring a smile to my face. I wonder what happened to these guys. What do you think that one gets so whacked out of your skull that you suddenly feel the need to get naked and walk around the neighborhood? I have a lot of journalism classes when I was in college. One of the most feared was a newspaper editor class. It was a required class and the teacher was a real hard-ass. He was still working for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and he took things too seriously. We had to scour the newspapers every morning and try to find mistakes and things that obviously slipped by some editors finger. We have learned how to construct a story and how to create a headline. The problem is that sometimes writers try too clever with headlines and it ends up looking strange. The time when you see it most, when a semicolon is used. I have never understood the proper use of a semicolon. We take out the garbage, the mayor or something is what you see in the newspaper. Of course, the mayor of the garbage is taken out or is the mayor leading some new initiative to clean up the streets or go to actual waste or crime or whatever. I've been a fan of the regular column called "News of the Weird." It was a great thing to read if you were doing a part-time radio show. I loved reading these stories. My favorite were the dumb criminal stories. You know the story if the criminals would rob a bank, and then his checkbook left behind with his address printed on the checks? I loved that. Or the criminal who would rob a store while wearing a mask and then step right outside the door of the establishment in the eyes of the people he just robbed, and take off the mask. I wonder what people think they can with crime in those days. For Crying Out Loud people dig it, the dead have done for almost a hundred years or more and tests on their bones to determine how they died. Not long ago they took a look at King Tut's yet to see whether he was murdered. So, really, even if you think you have with a crime, in all probability you do not have. United Kingdom only solved the murder of a twelve year old boy, something like twenty years ago died. So, if the messages you get down and you are sick to death, like me, why Tom Cruise hides his daughter (oh, am I not know because they want to protect the baby is not bombarded by the press?) Or, Mel Gibson did what or how the third world war is progressing that look goofy just for the headlines. As I mentioned, you do not even want to read the whole story. Just read the headlines. It's like reading a punchline or something. The real world is far too depressing anyway. You already know that without looking at all messages.

Do you have a Happiness Project?
A few weeks ago I was spending a great radio and instead of $ 250 on a therapist, I turned instead to my Kindle (which now wants to sell for $ 189, I might add). And fortunately, in a minute, I found the recipe I had to smile once again the best-seller lists, I decided I had to crack "The Happiness Project, Gretchen Rubin. Rubin, a former lawyer-turned-journalist-turned-author embarks on a 12-month journey in which they are a lucky project after another. By de-cluttered home, refrain from gossip, to share in search time exercise back into her life to write a novel in a month (now that I have to try) to do the things the loved her when she 10 years old, succeeded Gretchen Rubin book to help me through my recent rough patch set, while inspiring me things I have not done in a really long time to try. Now that I have read the book, I decided on some luck to start their own projects. And while I think that should de-clutter of my list, and for any reason, by my post, my closets and the basement does not make me make you happy, it will just be me but overwhelmed.I enroll in a Creative Writing class. I've always loved stories and want to try to write a novel. Most likely this is a novel for young people, because my vocabulary is about as strong as a fifth grader's, but either way, I'm definitely in a class that encourage me, will look to take my love of writing to the next level. I also have a musical theater workshop at the BMI Music Publishing House (I have ambitions to become a poet) is applied. I have no idea if I am accepted (they sent some of my favorite song parodies), but my feeling is: nothing ventured, nothing gained! I'll keep you posted when we know that happens.I determined to lose weight am. OK. This is more like a New Year's resolution, but I'm currently reading "Change Your Brain, Change Your Body" and I hope that when my brain does a better choice, my body is much better for him! I want to take many great vacation with my family. Or maybe just a really fun holiday where we tons of memories, take many pictures and relax! I want to sleep more because they selfishly, that the more you sleep say, the better it is for your metabolism. And I want to go back to do what I loved, before I had children. (I already do things that I loved when I was 10 - singing when no one is nearby). I was actually recording a sport that I love to be sans kids ... Rollerblading. In the early 90s, I used in-line skating in Central Park every evening after work and on weekends and come to think I looked damn good back then. So at last Sunday I strapped on my knife and gasped all the way down Pinebrook Blvd., Passing cars and exhaust fumes in my wake. While I survived my first trip, today morning was not as successful adventure. During blading along the street to hear "Escape" (I was tired, my wife, we have together too long), I have on a branch and the next thing I knew, slipped, I went into the ground falls - with my iPhone - which, incidentally, now has a cracked screen (think it's time for an iPhone 4G then). Anyway, I've decided to cross the street and the blade back home and a friend saw me puffing on the side of the street and asked me if I wanted a ride. I refused and blew it all the way back to my house (which sits on an incredibly steep hill, I might add). Something tells me that while rollerblading made me happy when I was 22, it could not make me so happy right about now - especially since I have some cash to repair my phone has to cough. Maybe I should just invest in a new pair of blades, or should a better route the next time I hit the open road.Either way I work out my lucky projects an assignment at a time. How about you? Projects have been luck that you would want to tackle?

The state of modern music
When asked a question like "how can I improve my game?" It is my experience that most music teachers and musicians respond to the "practice" or "practice makes perfect." And I agree in substance. There is no substitute for practice, particularly the practice where the musician is entirely focused on the task at hand, focusing on different aspects of music they are learning and listening Even scholars of their play music with strange powers, such as music and photographic memory apparently true perfect pitch must complete years of intensive practice before being ready for performance (1). One of the greatest pianists and composers, Rachmaninoff could transcribe compositions by Harold Schonberg together after one hearing. (2) Even if, when Rachmaninoff decided to make a living as a concert pianist, he did not dare go on stage until after two years of extra practice. Some musicians can boast that they do not practice much, but generally you will discover that they are lying or that the youth they sat all night while others were practicing on mucking around or sleeping. But what about the many cases of musicians who have the drive to a long and hard practice, but never up? I even had musicians tell me they can "get worse" after practicing. Most musicians have to be familiar with hitting "walls" where they find they simply do not improve even more effort. This is a likely reason that many musical instruments stop altogether, become frustrated, overwhelmed and believe that music is simply not for them. It is my belief that it is sometimes unwilling or mental effort is to blame, but the method of practice. Over the years I have sometimes heard an objection to the "practice makes perfect" shot. Some people like to say, "perfect practice makes perfect." Implicit in this statement is the idea that how you practice is important. Of course there are natural variations in the capacities of every human being and mental health, but in my experience anyone can play a musical instrument with a little perseverance to the extent that they go the right way. Interestingly, the researchers found significant differences between amateur and professional practices so (3) |. | The human body, have not evolved to play musical instruments. After all, most of the instruments are relatively new inventions in their present form and continue to evolve themselves. Contrary to the language and other mental functions, there is no "music center" in the brain. Many brain regions are needed to listen and play music. Playing a musical instrument is a complex task. A level of physical force is necessary, fine muscle coordination and muscle control are essential and training courses and extensive mental conditioning is needed. It is not good to be able to produce the best sound in the world if you have no rhythm. It is unnecessary to have a well developed musical appreciation and emotional sensitivity if you do not have the technical capability and vice versa. A good musician must master many skills and, therefore, know how to practice "perfectly" is a very complex and difficult. Like most musicians, throughout my childhood and adolescence, I just instinctively practice. The problem here is that sometimes you get lost instincts. In my experience, most teachers do not give extensive thought to the smallest details of how to practice. Most teachers simply tell students what to practice. However, as an adult is almost always pressed for time, I need to know that I am every time I sit behind the improvement of the piano or getting to the battery. As mentioned previously, this is a very large and complex, but let me share a few things I learned from my travels in the world of music. For clarity, I divided this topic into three main sections: the musicality, technical ability and performance. Musicality musicality I deliberately listed first because the aim of developing technical prowess to the instrument of your choice, you need to know what sound you are trying to achieve. When it comes to the musicality of the most important thing is to develop your listening skills. This may seem obvious, but it takes time and effort to be a good listener. A large amount of listening to music in our modern world is done without conscious thought at all, but as a child all the skills of listening to the music must be learned. Never heard a choir of students from kindergarten? They inevitably sing out of tune. Because their brains are still young to learn categorizations height of our 12 note scale. What would you ask a very young child to operate along the length of a song? This is something that can be controlled at a very young age, but nevertheless, even simple rhythms found in many songs using 4 / 4 meters must be learned. Notice how it can be difficult to keep typing perfectly in time when the music stops. For most, the sensitivity and awareness of harmony is the most difficult to learn, but deeply rewarding in terms of emotional reaction of the listener. So to develop your musicality, all you have to do is listen! But listening requires effort. Ideally, just listen to music without other distractions. Try listening to music in styles that you are not familiar with, and note the differences with other styles of music. For example, different types of dance music highlight a strong pulse or beat, certain types of dance music to reach a dance feel while placing several rhythms at once eg / Latin percussion. Classical music often focuses on developing thematic and harmonic jazz solo contains complex lines and the variation of pop music emphasizes catchy melodies. When listening to any type of music involving more than one instrument, focus on different parts of the music. For example, when listening to jazz or rock can you sing the bass line? Can you hear what the drummer plays the cymbals? Pointing lines different instrument in a piece of music will also help develop your sensitivity to the harmony of both homophonic and polyphonic. A 4-part fugue by Bach is a fairly complex piece of music through four distinct but related lines or "voices". It is not the type of room you hear on most radio programs. Why not challenge you with something like a Bach prelude and fugue or two? Or maybe a piece of Debussy and Bartok with the development and experimental harmonic complex. For advanced listeners, note the shape and structure of the piece of music. See if you can identify the phrasing of the melodies or patterns. Identify and repeat variations will help you understand and memorize the piece. By focusing on the larger structure of a song, you can make a simple song "map". Knowing the larger structure of a song can take you develop an appetite for listening to compositions with different shapes and structure. If you are a musician, knowing the structure of a larger piece will also help you know where and how to focus on the different sections. Note the contours of the music, for example, where are the climaxes in the song? Where are the pieces the strongest and sweetest of the song? Good listener is to anticipate what will follow. Your brain will do it automatically to some extent, but you can help. For example, trying to understand how rhythmic patterns repeat so you can predict them. How many repetitions are they? He takes the time to listen and experience to develop a portfolio of mental musical conventions that you can anticipate the music to come. And often, the way a piece adheres or vary your expectations will trigger emotional reactions from you the listener. A piece of music can put you up for a perfect cadence, for example, or to return to a melody already said. It is often when these "rules" or expectations are not followed by a piece of music becomes interesting and fun to listen. Try to identify words that is exactly what you like about your favorite music. The music is so powerful an art form because it can reach inside you and somehow illicit intense emotions and pleasure in the listener. The music goes well beyond just being "happy" or "sad." Subtle and beautiful emotional nuances may occur when listening to music you love. For example, I like music with a sad melancholy tone, which is reflective, poignant and beautiful, but I hate music pessimistic or sad. Yet both could be considered sad. I love music powerful, energetic and dramatic, but I do not reckless, raw anger. You fully absorb the music you love. At this stage it is useful to analyze and try to identify specific aspects of the music combine to give you that powerful emotional response. The timbre of instruments and rhythms used are important, but special attention should be applied to the harmony of the room. Is there chord progressions that really do it for you? Finally, when playing music, good listening habits are not easy to learn, especially for young children and fans in the early stages of learning a piece. Your brain focuses on many activities such as controlling your muscles, starting time, make sure you're hitting the right notes, relax and anticipate what is coming. Besides all that, you need to get out of yourself and listen to the sound you produce. So whenever possible, your attention is momentarily pretend you're a passive observer in the room and listen. Personally, I find it extremely useful to play the piano and drums with eyes closed from time to time. Do I play it exactly how it should be played? Develop your musicality is to be a perfectionist, always developing a fine attention to detail. Technical capacity: music teachers and sports coaches like to tell their students to relax. This is rule number one base for technical development in any enterprise that requires fine muscle control. Often, teachers simply shout "relax" to their students while the student becomes increasingly tense. Obviously you can not completely relax your body, or you'll quickly find yourself lying on the ground, limp and listless. Relaxation is the art of relaxing every muscle in your body that are not necessary to perform the music. In addition, muscles that are required should contract to the extent necessary and no more. The phrase "economy of movement" comes to mind. Relaxation is annoyingly difficult to master and it's something I'm working constantly every time I practice. Relaxation is the coordination of muscles. For example, / Your shoulders hunched? Is this your midsection or upper leg straight? While playing, you must observe the condition of your entire body. When you decide to play a note or hit a drum head, you have no conscious control over exactly the muscles in your body will contract to perform the movement. If you can not have full conscious control, in practice you've trained your muscles to move the way you want them to move through repetition. Concentrate on how it feels to play a particular passage. Experiment with different movements and motions to keep the small but not rigid. Practice slowly and calmly can really help you to relax. Try to feel the weight of gravity holding your hands down on the piano keys or your feet on the pedals drum. Often, when relaxed, you will feel to play from your arms or legs even if your ends are where all the action is. Try to learn what it's like to play relaxed. One of the biggest differences between hobbyists and professional practice is that professionals focus on the difficult parts of a song and cut into small pieces so that waste time trying amateurs to play a piece from start at the end. Small sections are a great way to do many rehearsals where it matters. In addition, you can often simplify the difficult passages. For example, / play hands separately at the piano is particularly essential when learning a piece. Or for drummers, try to get the right hand momentarily, or left hand or left foot etc. When practicing small sections, do not be afraid to play fast. Slow practice is ideal for relaxing and a fine attention to detail, but the game will slow muscles use the most likely different in different combinations for fast play. Ideally, small sections of a simplified piece should be played faster than the final tempo you are targeting. (4) In addition, varying the points of departure and arrival of these small segments. A smart musician knows that it is often the notes around a particularly troublesome causing problems. For example, / Have you a jump two octaves before having to play this long trill? Then, the practice of jumping and trill. Do you rotate from one side of the battery to the other before running the coordination model 4-way? Performance: If you play an instrument, sooner or later, chances are you can play in public. And occur in public is the true test of your ability as a musician. The scene presents many challenges such as a strange room, or even a familiar instrument, often no chance to warm up and nerves of course. Performance can be very stressful, but can also be an extremely rewarding and fun. The better you know your repertoire, the more chance you and the audience enjoy the show. To succeed, the save is always desirable. To help try to locate the memory and logic models in music. Work on the structure of the song. Agreements and identify harmonic elements can help. Memorize some sections both by repetition and try to remember the notes visually in your mind. To become performance ready, there are a lot of mental work, you can away from your instrument. Running across the room in your mind and try to imagine each note. It's actually very difficult to do, but it confirms that you really know a song. The renowned pianist Glenn Gould would go through songs in his mind, singing and fingering music on a piano fantasy. (5) Before the invention of radio and the gramophone, score analysis was much more common among musicians. It was much more common to analyze a score and sing the musical parts help learning a piece before they even play a note. It certainly helps you record preferably on video as part of your practice. The registration process is a good test in itself because the pressure is when you press the record button. And watch or listen to play yourself can help you pick the parts you want to change or errors that you make. Before proceeding to focus on the task at hand and take a few deep breaths. Run through the first song you play in your mind. Realize that you're probably a little anxious and nervous. Your heart is probably beating a little faster than normal and the adrenal glands may even turn on. Take your time and make a conscious effort to relax. Once you started, remember to keep focusing on the task at hand and you absorb the music. Do not spend your awareness to what is happening around you and do not plan how you play. If you find yourself drifting back focus on the music you play. There is a lot for your mind to worry about content in the tasks of running your music and so simply focus on the best music you can and you'll be fine. It may take some time before you start to feel comfortable but generally most people once they are away and goes, everything goes well and can be great fun. Try to keep just before the music in your mind, focusing on what is to come and listen to your sound. Try to relax before the difficult passages. Be too apprehensive of a hard part is not useful. Trust yourself in these situations, relax and let your subconscious take over. It is too late to improve now, you might as well have fun. If you make a mistake, never stop. The largest structure and mood of the music probably will not be affected. And maybe you can find some comfort in knowing that even famous concert pianists such as David Horowitz has been the odd mistake. I hope some of these tips were useful. Subculture of Latino music in the former Soviet Union
For me, Latin music has been my life since I was six. When my mother remarried a man from Nicaragua, which was exposed to a different side of the world. There were many things I never knew about, but now they added. It is for this reason I tend to notice where and how many people are listening to Latin music, particularly in the context of the music of his own home. I decided to find out how much of this music has been integrated into the typical life of a student at FSU in Tallahassee, within a group of friends. This music defines Latin culture through sound, behavior, and concept. For starters, I had to ask my friends what they hear. The group that I am focusing on containing seven members. Of those seven, five are Latino and two are "white", I, Sarva, I'm half French, half the offspring of the British Isles, and the other "white" person, Evan, is the descent of y. The other five are (Carlos), (Daniel), (Andrea), (Leslie), and (Tony). I have found through interviews that all Latino members of our group heard the music of his homeland, at least once a week. That means that once a week, which connects back to its cultural identity through music. When I asked Evan if you listen to music or said no. "It's not because I do not like it," he said. "It just has never been part of my life the way it has been for my girlfriend." Evan and Andrea have been dating for three months, as Carlos and I have been dating for about three years. I think that things are running in the house of Carlos are different from the way they run in the family home of my mother's mother. At home, his father is the "alpha male", and everyone else in the house belongs to him. The concept of head of household is very important. His father is a stern man who demands respect, but is noticeably affectionate with their younger children. There is always music and laughter and the kitchen at home. In the homes of my mother's sisters and their parents, there is a different order of things. My grandfather and grandmother were equal, and if the decision had to do that would be agreed by both. As a result, each has less respect and there was a higher rate of "answer" and "smart-ass" in the house of Carlos. At home, music was played a few times and saved for times like Christmas. Television was always, however. Evan had similar experiences in their family. I wondered if all Hispanic households are like this, so I asked my friends how things work at home. They all gave the same description as Carlos. I wondered how I had to do with music being played. I asked each of them about why music was important to them. Leslie summed up the general feeling better, "not so much the music itself, but what it represents. When his family is the kitchen and singing and dancing together, it reminds them of where they came from and gives a sense of solidarity. When you have music, have a connection to your past and to each other. That's what it is, the concept, not the thing itself "This makes perfect sense to me .. There had to be some link between family members, and music became such a link. I wondered what the difference between the junction of the typical Latino family and the bond between the members of the "white" family. Evan asked how his family bonded. "We all sit together at dinner, but not much conversation there, other than" How was your day? 'In general, they tend to watch TV together so we can all laugh at the same things. Other than that, leading a life quite independent. That does not mean that they love, just not as close. "It seemed like the difference is clear. In each of our homes as they were growing up, there was music in some and not others. Music as a concept missing from the house of Evan, and my mother as a child. The concepts of unity, of family, respect and inheritance had disappeared because the music was not present. All this was very interesting to me. I wanted to know how each of them had brought their music with them. Tony and Carlos are both musicians. Tony Carlos creates rhythms and acoustic melodies created. I asked if and how to incorporate their heritage into their music. Tony said: "When I make beats, I try to be as creative as possible. I do not like using canned sounds. In the past I used clips from Star Wars, old movies and songs, and recordings of my mother screaming. Recently I started using fragments of the recordings of my father in my old guitar beats. I like them because they sound hits one more ... 'Home'? I do not know, I like my beats to sound like I enter and what they represent. If my beats sound fresh, reflecting my being cool. If you have sound, then it is perfect, because I'm from. "Carlos said," Well, I play many instruments, so that makes it really easy to do exactly what I want. I play piano, guitar, bass, violin, some Chinese string instruments, and some drums. I have a synthesizer. "" So that incorporate sounds into your music? "I pregunté." Yes, all the time! My uncle taught me a lot of traditional songs from Ecuador when I was little, so I like to play traditional songs from a nontraditional way. For example, I have established a track the other day that was a traditional Ecuadorian song, but I played with Chinese instruments, adding piano. There are a variety of things I can do to make different sounds with a certain base, in this case the music of my country. "It was interesting to me. FSU students brought their music from their homes in Tallahassee with them in such a way that allows innovation and creativity. For a different twist on this idea, I asked Daniel and Andrea how to use music in their lives to connect to the idea of the house of Daniel and tradition. "I do not play anything, but I have a large music collection. My brother and my mom both play guitar, so my sister, my dad and I always sit and listen to them. I have a horrible voice, but always sang right along anyway. I was born, but moved to Florida when I was in sixth grade. My mother was always crying and crying, so my brother taught him to play the [guitar]. Since then he always felt better because I had a way to connect with her home again. I guess that way I can find the connection, too. I always play my music from my childhood in Colombia, especially when I first got here. It made me feel less homesick "Andrea". When I first came to Tallahassee, I hated it. I immediately wanted to move [to Miami], where a greater diversity. Well, not really diversity, but more Latinos and Peruvian. I missed it so much that I formed a small "party" a weekend. I called my Hispanic friends, some who play instruments, others are cooked, and we all get together and talk about what I missed the most. I know it sounds like I would lose more, but it was very comforting. I had found a piece of the way of "Hicktown." Now we do once a month and all are welcome. You do not have to be Hispanic to come, either. Not even have to contribute. Just come and see why it is so great that a Peruvian! "Finally, I met a lot of different ways that Latin music is the sound itself, the behavior of the culture and concepts linked to that culture, has made its way to Tallahassee. There is a subculture within a short ex-USSR, and I think only time can extend the music and the ideas are still as important to Latinos as they do now and in the past.

It is the Better Business Bureau really better?
"I intend to report to the Better Business Bureau (BBB)," is a phrase often uttered by consumers who feel exploited by a company. However, I'm not so sure that the BBB can be useful because consumers want to believe |. | I found this when I tried to tell a company magazine for falsely themselves and their policies, but never delivered my subscriptions, and still charged me for them. I sent the request to the BBB only after sending several letters to the company and trying to contact them by phone, in order to resolve the situation. This is what the BBB suggests, trying to contact the company with which you are having a disbute in order to solve the problem. However, after no response from the company, I submitted my complaint with the BBB. I received an email from the BBB that the company had disbuted my statement and that if I could submit a rebuttal. Otherwise, the case was resolved in favor of the magazine. Resolved in their favor, simply because they are a denial of my application? Of course the company was going to make a rebuttal. I found this ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as what happened next. In fact I file a rebuttal since the company was lying in their response to my question. However, the response I received from the BBB I was surprised. They said they were sorry, but the company was left to their refutation. The BBB also stated that it could not force this or any company to resolve a dispute, but only worked to try to get a resolution could be approved by all. But if the company has refused to work with the consumer, so there was nothing that could be done. The BBB said it would create a file of this company and to include this information. I realize that the file for this company will serve the purpose of keeping this company from other scams, but it does not help me any. I could continue writing this on my own company with the same answer that the BBB has for me. Why use the BBB if they can do is contact the company and make them aware of the complaint. You must provide the company address or phone number in order to file the application, so you already know how to contact them, so that we can do alone. Then, the company may refuse to compensate the consumer in any way. At that point there is nothing that can be done. So this leaves me asking myself: is the Better Business Bureau really better? As for you, I will let you try the BBB for yourself and come up with your conclusions next time you have a conflict with a business: www.bbb.com
