this blog has been dead. that's my bad.
lost the TMNT hyperfixation. plus, I was never super happy with the way I drew the 2012 boys, so I was always super frustrated with it. I apologize it's been literally two years, and I haven't forgotten, I think I just need to rethink and rework some things for the Brothers AU before I can keep working on it.
Please be patient with me, and if you want to stay updated with progress that I make, follow my other art blog!

Okay reblog if you’re an artist who STRONGLY PREFERS reblogs with commentary
People are apparently under the impression that reblogging someone’s art and adding a comment is frowned upon and that can’t possibly be true, every artist I know of sees a reblog-comment as like the ultimate definitive reward for their hard work.
Obviously don’t feel bad for NOT adding a comment if you’re shy or just don’t know what to say, but if there’s something you would like to say about a drawing you’ve liked enough to reblog, I’m pretty sure most artists crave hearing it.

Guys, ignore the fact that I've been reblogging to the wrong blog. Life is hard, and I just don't notice most of the time. I will keep the two most recent reblogs because I like the ferret one and the pedophilia one is just good to have on here.
Anyway. More stuff soon, I'm hoping. I'm going through really bad art and writing blocks so it's been rough, but I am trying v desperately to finish something I can get out for you guys. Just pls be patient, thank you.

It's Michael! An absolute baby. You can find info about what is now called the Brother AU here.
Yeah, it's really messy, but I'm going through some art block atm for some reason. I tried to start the comic, but I didn't like how it was coming out, so I did this. It was fine in it's sketch stages, but now I'm like eh. I might return and line and color it when I'm feeling more into it, but I needed to get smth out, so. Here's the boi.
If you have any art requests for the AU, lmk! I'm trying to come up with a new way to start the "finding" section of it, and suggestions would help. (If I don't get any, you'll prolly just get a few funny haha ones, followed by a couple of cute ones before I just start posting the fic)

Feel free to send me these in my ask box while I'm working on more fic and art stuff!
questions for fic writers
a collection of questions i, as a writer, would love to be asked !!!
1. What fic of yours would you recommend to someone who had never read any of your work? (In other words, what do you think is the best introduction to your fics?)

Okay, so I've been thinking: it's taking me a lot longer to finish the first comic I was creating for the adopted au-of-an-au but I've written basically all I'm going to for season one of the '12 show (outside of requests). Would you guys rather wait for me to get a bit more done art-wise or have me start posting the fic?
Reply either in this post's replies or in my askbox.

I think I figured out the ask board now. So if Michael gets a middle name will the older turtles (mainly Mikey) want them too?
Probably not. They've gone so long without one that I think they're content to not have one. Plus, Michael just ignores his first name (outside of when he's in trouble) that it basically is irrelevant.
Interesting to think about, though! Thanks!

Note
He can be called Carrie (car-e, not care-e)
Yeah, until just being referred to as Michael (since it's what he prefers and is more accustomed to thanks to Mikey). It was either gonna be Carrie or Vaggie, both being slightly feminine sounding, which might be precisely why he gets more used to Michael over Caravaggio. But Carrie makes sense.
Thank you!
Edit 12/23/22: With input from my partner, I decided that Splinter is the only one who regularly calls him Caravaggio. Anyone else makes him go ://
Unless he's in trouble. Then he gets full named, in a serious voice, and he's like "oh shit"

Note
I was going to suggest Caravaggio as a name for Adopted au Michael, but then I found out the guy's first name was Michelangelo and I found that most amusing.
That's hilarious, and I love it. Just for that, it's gonna be Caravaggio. So Caravaggio Michael Hamato.
Thank you!

This is now called the Brothers AU for those who need to know!
Self reblog to respond to @gaddaboutgriffon 's replies, because they brought up a few points that are pretty important (which I do have an ask box, so if you'd like to use that to share thoughts and opinons about the AU going forward so I can do a unique post for them, please do! /gen /nm)
So, to start things off: Michael's age. I did mathematical acrobatics to figure out his age (when I really didn't need to). I took the '12 boys' ages of 15, that stay consistent throughout the show, and said it took place in 2012, to make things easy. Since Rise canonically takes place in 2018 (seen through a few easter eggs like calendars and such), I added six to put them at 21 to match Rise Raph's 15. Subtract two to get Michael's 13. So 21 to 13, take away ten because of Michael going at 3, so the '12 boys are 11 when they find him, which makes Michael 7 at '12 series start (because add four to get the '12 boys' 15).
For the '12 series specifically, dimension travel is much easier by way of how the Kraang work. I'm gonna leave it vague because I do plan on rewriting the series, (at least the episodes with important character beats for Michael and plot changes), and I'm gonna explain more there, but there's an episode where Michael accidentally ends up in the Rise universe again. Shenanigans ensue, but because of problem he accidentally caused, he will end up back in '12. But the way it goes for him returning will go pretty similarly as in the original AU. Donnie will make a portal, likely from Kraang tech, and Michael will use that to go home. At this point, idk if it'd be willing or if one of the boys will have to shove him through in a moment of crisis, I'll figure it out when I get closer.
For Splinter, he'd likely be able to sense something different about Michael, but for the most part he likely would come to a similar conclusion. That Michael is a run-away Kraang experiment. At least until Michael starts talking about his brothers and dad, and Splinter is mostly confused about how his youngest son got to them. He still loves him though, so it doesn't matter how he got there, just that he's safe now.
It does make more sense for the '12 family to give Michael another name. Not Picasso, probably, since Chompy Picasso, but I'm kinda blanking on what it would be. There's not really many good ones that would fit him, tbh. So he would likely get another artist's name, but Michael as a middle name. And he would start responding only to Michael after a bit because Mikey would just go "and your name is Michael, and you're so cute, cause you're Michael" while the others are just exasperated.
I imagine the naming conversation would go something like:
Splinter: Hm, a name for you...
Michael: Orange!
Mikey: That's not a name, silly! You need a good one. Like Mikey Jr. Or Angelo (as reference to the og AU). Oh, oh! Or Michael, I like that.
Leo: We are not naming him Michael.
But Mikey is already attached to the name and gets Michael just as attached to it. So in theory, yes, he has another name (I don't know what it is yet, suggestions would be great), but he's typically only called it when he's in serious trouble. (And will ignore anyone trying to call him with it on purpose just to annoy them).
Another note, unrelated to the comments left. I am going to be playing very loosely with Michael's ninpo! We don't really get a good look at it in Rise canon, so it's hard to tell what it can really do (esp cause they lose it for most of the movie), so I'm taking some creative liberties! You'll know what that means when I finally start posting the series rewrite fic, but given the gravity of all that happens in the '12 show, and the fact that Michael unlocked it before getting to that universe means that it would make sense for it to gradually develop without him realizing it.
If that's not really your thing, sorry. I'm using it for Plot(TM).
Anyway, thank you for your thoughts! It gave me some stuff to chew on!
Adopted AU-of-an-AU
Okay, it's taking me a lot longer to actually finish the first comic bit I'm doing to start this AU out than I wanted, so I'm gonna start this as a text post. Keep an eye out for fic and comic stuff, though!
So as a brief overview, this is an AU of @tblsomedoodles 's ROTTMNT Adopted AU where Michelangelo (or Angelo/Angie) activates his mystic powers as a three-year-old and ends up in the '03 verse. In this version, Rise Michelangelo (or Michael) ends up in the '12 verse.
I'm putting the rest under the cut since this is pretty long. Apologies!
Okay, so. For how the AU gets, started, you can find an animatic for it here and a text-post explanation here. I do recommend you go check those out, as I'm not changing anything for how Michael ends up in '12 in comparison to Angelo being in '03. For a brief explanation, though, Mikey gets separated from his family. He gets attacked by a yokai, and his intense desire to return to his family is what causes his mystic abilities to activate.
There's a lot more nuance to it than that, but that's the jist. I strongly suggest you go check out Trouble's post and animatic, because one, they're great, and two, they have more details.
Now, on to the differences (provided in bullet points because it's easier):
Mikey (Michael from here on out) arrives in '12 alone and upset, runs away from Hob.
'12 Mikey and Raph hear him while they're playing in the sewers and go to investigate.
Surprise, they find a crying turtle toddler, who sees Raph's red bandana and immediately attaches to him. This is because of Rise Raph being referred to as 'Red' at this point and Michael associating the color red with being safe.
Both boys are very confused as to who this child is and decide to take him home after looking around a bit for where the kid could have come from.
Leo and Donnie are like "what the heck bros where did you get a child"
Splinter sees the baby and is reminded of when his sons were young and is immediately attached, having a feeling that Michael cannot be returned to his family yet
As such, Splinter chooses to raise Michael alongside the others as a younger brother.
Raph and Mikey are instantly Michael's favorite brothers for being the ones to find him, and they are both very soft with him (Raph will deny it, but it's true)
Mikey is hyped to not be the youngest anymore, and very carefully instructs Michael exactly how to pull pranks and make the brothers laugh. He's the one to name him "Michael," actually after himself, because he has orange spots, like Mikey being the orange ninja.
Donnie kinda just shrugs and accepts the fact that they have another brother. He doesn't mind the inquisitive lab partner at times, but Michael definitely has a tendency to get under Donnie's feet when he's little.
Raph's favorite brother is Michael. Some of it is how he's the least annoying, but most of it is that he just loves Michael and wants to protect him. (He's so small, okay? And he was alone, Raph needs to be there for him).
Leo is the slowest to warm up to Michael. He's the oldest and feels way too responsible for a baby. The thing that gets him to finally relax around Michael is when Michael ends up tripping while playing right in front of him but laughs about it. Michael is a much tougher baby than Leo thought.
Eventually though, all four are very comfortable around Michael and love him equally. They each have their soft moments with him, and it's an understood thing that they would kill for him.
About four months after Michael joins the family, he sees them training and is like "I wanna learn." Splinter was going to wait until he was a bit older, but Michael is very stubborn and has irresistible puppy-dog eyes. Splinter never stood a chance.
So Splinter begins teaching Michael the basics. He excels very quickly, due to both Michael's attitude about it (wanting to be like his brothers) and the nature of his mutation.
Like, in Rise, the brothers literally become excellent ninjas within a day during ep. 25. Even with their prior experiences, that is not something the '12 brothers would be able to do, and my personal hc is that the way Draxum mutated them, with perfected mutagen and a purpose, caused them to be excellent soldier material.
Not that Michael becomes a soldier in this, just that, learning from the greatest ninja master of the century, along with his biological advantages, would result in an extremely skilled ninja child.
By the time he's seven, Michael is able to take out his brothers in a 4v1 on a good day.
He's still baby tho, so sometimes his brothers go easy on him, but don't tell him they said that.
On the same note of those biological advantages, Michael is also very strong. At least lifting things - he still only weighs 60 pounds, he can get picked up and tossed v easily.
Those are all the early childhood notes I really have atm! If anyone has any questions, please let me know! My ask box is always open.
