Hey there, and welcome! ^_^

Whether you stumbled across this by accident or came here on purpose, I’m glad you're here.

This blog is my corner of the internet to share thoughts, stories, insights, and hopefully connect with like-minded people. You can expect a lot of reblogged inspiration and just things I like from my interested subjects. My likes are all over the place.

“Okay, next question,” James said, his grin making Regulus’s stomach drop, just like always.

“Still don’t understand why we’re playing bloody twenty questions,” he muttered, trying to hide his giddiness at being this close to the Gryffindor.

“Because I want to get to know you,” James replied simply, racing over and playing with his fingers. “Is that so bad?”

No, but it was terrifying. “Fine. What’s the question?” he asked, staring out at the Pitch from their spot on the bleachers.

“When’s your birthday?”

“August 23rd,” he replied.

“I’ll remember that,” James promised, beaming.

June 8th

“I’ll be okay, James,” he mumbled, trying not to break down in the other boy’s arms as they said goodbye for the summer.

“I know you will,” the taller boy smiled. “But I worry. You know you’re welcome at mine, right?”

“It’s not that simple,” he sighed, trying not to think of what awaited him at home. Only two and half months, then he could come back for his sixth year. It wasn’t so bad…

“I’ll still miss you,” James said softly.

Regulus’s stomach flipped. “You’ll forget about me as soon as you get home. You and Sirius will have an amazing time,” he reassured the Gryffindor, trying not to resent his brother for running away over Christmas. 

“I won’t forget you, love. I couldn’t.”

August 23rd

The letter arrived early. Before his parents awoke.  A simple piece of paper, something that wouldn’t raise any alarms. It was a risk they’d agreed not to take, but Regulus almost cried when he saw that James had decided not to listen:

Happy Birthday, love. I told you I wouldn’t forget. I can’t wait to see you.

They're being chased by a monster and yet their first instinct at hearing Dustin singing on the radio is to judge him. I love them so much.

More! Jurdan! Headcanons!

Because they are my babiesss

-Jude always exclusively wears Cardan's shirts to bed. Specifically the silky one.

-Cardan keeps trying to convince her to sleep naked, like him. (Also have we collectively forgotten that he canonically does that)

-Jude is an early riser and a morning person.

-Cardan refuses to get up until midnight. (Remember that the fae are nocturnal.)

-Jude has to genuinely drag him out of bed whenever something important happens.

-Whereas Cardan always tries to keep her in bed with him (he usually succeeds)

-Jude takes up baking in her spare time because Cardan made her get a hobby that doesn't involve stabbing people.

-They like to have little playfights.

-E.g Cardan will pin her down to do her makeup.

-Or Jude will come up behind him and put him in a headlock.

-Cardan never sneaks up behind her though.

-He also knows where she keeps all of her weapons on her person.

-If he needs a weapon and he didn't bring one he just casually grabs one from like her pockets or the folds of her dress or something like that.

-Cardan is a biter. And I don't just mean in bed.

-Just like in general. He nibbles her ears or just like casually bites her shoulder.

-They go riding together through the milkwood.

-And take long walks through the gardens together.

-Jude teases Cardan about all the things he did to her at school.

-"Hey, remember that one time you tried to drown me?"

-He feels incredibly bad.

One thing I love about The Cruel Prince: Jude put her foot down and said ‘I belong here’.

And eventually Elfhame responded and flowers grew where she bled.

Never let anyone tell you, you don’t belong.

Small fantasy worldbuilding elements you might want to think about:

A currency that isn’t gold-standard/having gold be as valuable as tin

A currency that runs entirely on a perishable resource, like cocoa beans

A clock that isn’t 24-hours

More or less than four seasons/seasons other than the ones we know

Fantastical weather patterns like irregular cloud formations, iridescent rain

Multiple moons/no moon

Planetary rings

A northern lights effect, but near the equator

Roads that aren’t brown or grey/black, like San Juan’s blue bricks

Jewelry beyond precious gems and metals

Marriage signifiers other than wedding bands

The husband taking the wife's name / newlyweds inventing a new surname upon marriage

No concept of virginity or bastardry

More than 2 genders/no concept of gender

Monotheism, but not creationism

Gods that don’t look like people

Domesticated pets that aren’t re-skinned dogs and cats

Some normalized supernatural element that has nothing to do with the plot

Magical communication that isn’t Fantasy Zoom

“Books” that aren’t bound or scrolls

A nonverbal means of communicating, like sign language

A race of people who are obligate carnivores/ vegetarians/ vegans/ pescatarians (not religious, biological imperative)

I’ve done about half of these myself in one WIP or another and a little detail here or there goes a long way in reminding the audience that this isn’t Kansas anymore.
