One-Shot: A Dance with Danger
Summary:
Y/N and Azriel are forced to take shelter in a secluded cabin after a mission goes awry. As they fend off a surprise attack from Hybern soldiers, their long-hidden feelings come to the surface during a heated argument.
Word Count: 1713
Warnings: This story contains intense battle scenes, descriptions of injuries, emotional turmoil, and moments of vulnerability. Readers should be prepared for dramatic confrontations and raw emotional exchanges.
The mission had gone smoothlyâtoo smoothly. As Y/N and Azriel made their way back to the Night Court, a sense of unease settled over them. The forest around them was eerily quiet, the usual sounds of nocturnal creatures conspicuously absent.
"We need to keep moving," Azriel said, his voice low and urgent. "I don't like this silence."
Y/N nodded, her hand tightening around the hilt of her sword. "Agreed. Let's hurry."
They picked up the pace, their footsteps muffled by the thick underbrush. Just as they reached a clearing, a group of Hybern soldiers emerged from the shadows, surrounding them with weapons drawn.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" sneered the leader, a tall fae with a cruel smile. "The Night Court's spymaster and his little friend."
Azriel's shadows flared protectively around him, his wings spreading wide. "Stay behind me, Y/N."
She stepped forward, her eyes blazing with determination. "Not a chance. We're in this together."
The Hybern soldiers attacked, and the clearing erupted into chaos. Y/N and Azriel fought back-to-back, their movements perfectly synchronized. Y/N's blade flashed in the moonlight as she parried and struck, each movement a testament to her skill and training. Azriel's shadows lashed out like living weapons, disarming and incapacitating their foes with deadly precision.
Despite their efforts, the enemy's numbers were overwhelming. Azriel was struck by a glancing blow to the side, blood seeping through his tunic. Y/N's heart lurched at the sight, but she couldn't afford to be distracted.
"Azriel, are you alright?" she shouted, slashing through another attacker.
"I'm fine," he gritted out, his eyes never leaving the enemies surrounding them. "Just focus on the fight."
They fought on, but the tide was turning against them. Y/N's movements were slowing, exhaustion creeping into her limbs. She knew they couldn't keep this up much longer.
Suddenly, a sharp pain exploded in her shoulder as an arrow found its mark. She stumbled, her vision blurring. Azriel's roar of rage and anguish cut through the chaos, and he surged forward, his shadows enveloping them both in a protective cocoon.
"We need to get out of here," he said, his voice tight with worry.
Y/N nodded weakly, her strength waning. "Lead the way."
With a powerful beat of his wings, Azriel lifted them both into the air, his shadows forming a barrier against further attacks. They flew through the trees, the wind whipping past them as they raced against time and danger.
When they finally landed near a secluded cabin, Azriel gently set Y/N down, his hands trembling. "Stay with me, Y/N," he pleaded, his voice breaking. "Don't you dare leave me."
She managed a weak smile. "I'm not going anywhere, Azriel. Just... need to rest."
Azriel carefully carried her into the cabin, laying her down on a makeshift bed. He worked quickly to tend to her wounds, his hands steady but his eyes filled with fear.
"You're going to be okay," he murmured, more to himself than to her. "You have to be."
Y/N reached up, her fingers brushing his cheek. "Thank you, Azriel. For everything."
He captured her hand in his, pressing a kiss to her palm. "Rest now. I'll keep watch."
As Y/N drifted into a fitful sleep, Azriel stood guard, his shadows coiling around them like a protective shroud. He couldn't shake the fear gnawing at his heart, the thought of losing her more than he could bear.
Hours passed, and Y/N awoke to find Azriel still by her side, his eyes red-rimmed but vigilant. "Azriel," she whispered, her voice hoarse. "You should rest."
He shook his head, his expression fierce. "Not until I know you're safe."
She smiled softly, her heart swelling with love for the shadowy warrior who had risked everything for her. "I'm safe with you."
Azriel's gaze softened, and he leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "And I'll always keep you safe, Y/N. No matter what."
The moment was interrupted by a loud crash as the cabin door was kicked open. Hybern soldiers flooded in, their eyes gleaming with malice.
"Found you," their leader sneered. "Did you really think you could escape us?"
Azriel's shadows flared to life, and he stepped in front of Y/N, his wings spreading protectively. "Over my dead body."
The battle was fierce and relentless. Azriel fought with a ferocity born of desperation and love, his shadows striking with deadly precision. Y/N, despite her injuries, found the strength to rise and join the fight, her determination unwavering.
But the odds were against them. Just as it seemed they would be overwhelmed, a blast of magic erupted from the doorway, sending the Hybern soldiers sprawling. Rhysand and the Inner Circle had arrived, their faces grim with determination.
"Need a hand?" Rhysand called, his magic crackling around him.
"Glad you could make it," Azriel replied, relief flooding his voice.
With the added strength of their allies, the tide quickly turned. The remaining Hybern soldiers were dispatched, and the cabin fell silent once more.
Rhysand approached Azriel and Y/N, his gaze assessing. "You both look like hell."
"Feel like it too," Y/N muttered, her legs threatening to give out.
Feyre rushed to Y/N's side, her healing magic already at work. "Let's get you patched up."
Azriel watched with a mix of gratitude and worry as Y/N was tended to, his own wounds forgotten in his concern for her. Rhysand placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing reassuringly.
"You did well, Az," he said quietly. "She's strong, and she'll be alright."
Azriel nodded, his eyes never leaving Y/N. "I know. But I can't lose her."
"You won't," Rhysand promised. "Not if we have anything to say about it."
As the night wore on, the storm outside finally began to abate. Y/N, now fully healed thanks to Feyre's magic, sat beside Azriel, their hands entwined.
"You scared me," Azriel admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "When I saw you fall..."
"I'm sorry," she said, her eyes filled with love and regret. "I didn't mean to worry you."
He shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "Just don't do it again."
Y/N laughed softly, the sound like music to his ears. "I'll do my best."
They sat in comfortable silence, the events of the night a stark reminder of the dangers they faced. But in each other's arms, they found solace and strength, knowing that together, they could face anything.
As dawn broke, casting a golden light over the cabin, Azriel pressed a gentle kiss to Y/N's lips. "We'll get through this, Y/N. We'll make it through every storm, every battle. Together."
"Together," she echoed, her heart swelling with love and determination.
And as the new day began, they knew that their bond, forged in the heat of battle and the depths of their love, would guide them through whatever challenges lay ahead. For in each other, they had found not just a partner, but a soulmate, a love that would endure through any storm.
Weeks passed, and their bond grew stronger. They continued to face missions and challenges together, their partnership growing seamless. One evening, as they prepared for another mission, an unexpected argument erupted.
"You need to be more careful out there, Y/N," Azriel said, his voice tinged with frustration. "You can't keep putting yourself in danger like this."
Y/N crossed her arms, glaring at him. "I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself, Azriel. I don't need you hovering over me all the time."
Azriel's jaw clenched. "I'm not hovering. I'm protecting you."
"Protecting me?" Y/N's voice rose. "It feels more like you're smothering me. I'm not some fragile flower that needs constant guarding."
"I'm trying to keep you safe!" Azriel shouted, his shadows flaring around him.
"And I don't need you to!" Y/N shouted back, her eyes blazing with anger.
The room fell silent, the air thick with tension. They stood there, breathing heavily, staring at each other. And then, without warning, it happened.
A powerful, unmistakable bond snapped into place between them, a connection so strong it took their breath away. Y/N's eyes widened in shock, and she saw the same realization mirrored in Azriel's gaze.
"Azriel," she whispered, her voice trembling. "The bond..."
"I know," he replied, his voice hoarse with emotion. "I've known for a while."
Tears filled Y/N's eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?"
Azriel stepped closer, his hand reaching out to cup her cheek. "I was afraid. Afraid of complicating things, of dragging you into my world of shadows and danger. I thought you deserved better."
"Better than my mate?" Y/N's voice broke, tears spilling down her cheeks. "Azriel, you're everything to me."
He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I never wanted to hurt you."
Y/N buried her face in his chest, her sobs shaking her body. "I love you, Azriel. I love you so much."
"I love you too," he whispered, his voice filled with raw emotion. "More than anything."
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's embrace, the bond between them solidified, a promise of love and devotion that would never be broken. They had faced so much together, and now, they would face the future as mates, united by a love that had defied all odds.
The next day, as they prepared for their mission, there was a newfound sense of peace and determination between them. They knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, their bond unbreakable.
As they flew over Velaris, Azriel's wings carrying them through the sky, Y/N felt a sense of exhilaration and hope. They were stronger together, and nothing could stand in their way.
"Ready for this?" Azriel asked, his eyes sparkling with love and confidence.
"With you by my side, always," Y/N replied, her heart swelling with joy.
And as they soared into the horizon, hand in hand, they knew that their love would guide them through any storm, any battle. For they were mates, destined to be together, their bond a beacon of light in the darkest of times.

One-Shot: Shattered Heart Part IIÂ
Summary:Â
Y/N and Azriel continue to struggle with their unspoken love and the heartbreak it brings. As Azriel distances himself further, Y/N makes a decision that could change everything. Will they ever find their way back to each other, or are they destined to remain broken and alone?
I wrote this for @vanserrasimp who requested a part 2.
Word Count: 1504
Warnings: Intense heartbreak, emotional distress
Y/N:
Days turned into weeks, and Y/N felt the weight of Azriel's absence more acutely with each passing moment. She had hoped that time would dull the pain, but instead, it sharpened it, making every interaction, every shared space in the House of Wind a reminder of what she had lostâor rather, what she had never truly had.
She threw herself into training, hoping the physical exertion would exhaust her enough to numb her emotions. But even in the heat of battle practice, her mind wandered to Azriel. She saw him everywhereâin the shadows that danced at the edge of her vision, in the quiet moments when she thought she was alone, in the lingering silence that filled the spaces where his laughter used to be.
One evening, after a particularly grueling training session, Y/N found herself alone in the training room. She collapsed onto the floor, her body aching and her mind a whirlwind of turmoil. She stared at the ceiling, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill.
"Why can't I let him go?" she whispered to herself, her voice trembling. "Why can't I move on?"
The room remained silent, offering no answers. She closed her eyes, letting the tears fall freely. She thought about Azrielâabout the way he had stood outside her room that night, about the pain in his eyes, about the words that had remained unspoken between them.
She knew she couldn't continue like this. The pain was consuming her, eating away at her spirit. She needed to make a decision, to find a way to move forward. She couldn't keep living in this limbo, caught between hope and despair.
With a heavy heart, she made her way to her room. She sat at her desk, pulling out a piece of parchment and a quill. Her hand trembled as she began to write, pouring her heart and soul into the letter.
Azriel,
I don't know if you'll ever read this, but I need to say it, to put it into words so that I can finally let go. I have loved you for so long, longer than I can even remember. I thought that maybe, one day, you might see me the way I see you. But I was wrong.
Watching you with Elain, seeing the way you look at herâit's tearing me apart. I can't keep pretending that I'm okay, that I'm strong enough to handle it. The truth is, I'm not. I'm breaking, Azriel, and I don't know how to fix it.
I need to move on, to find a way to heal. And I can't do that if I'm here, surrounded by memories of you. So, I've decided to leave Velaris. I don't know where I'll go, but I need to find a place where I can rebuild my heart, piece by piece.
I wish you all the happiness in the world, Azriel. You deserve it, even if it's not with me. Please, don't come after me. This is something I need to do for myself.
Goodbye, Azriel. I will always love you, but I need to let you go.
Y/N
She sealed the letter with trembling hands, placing it on her bed. She packed a small bag with essentials, her heart heavy with each item she added. She took one last look around her room, her sanctuary, and then she left, the door closing behind her with a finality that echoed through her soul.
As she walked through the quiet streets of Velaris, she felt a sense of freedom mixed with a profound sadness. She was leaving behind everything she had ever known, but she knew it was the only way to heal.
Azriel:
Azriel stood in the training room, his fists clenched at his sides. He had pushed himself harder than ever before, trying to drown out the thoughts that haunted him. But no matter how hard he fought, he couldn't escape the pain in his heart.
He thought about Y/N constantlyâabout her laughter, her strength, the way her eyes lit up when she smiled. He missed her more than he could bear, but the fear of hurting her kept him from reaching out.
Cassian's words echoed in his mind, a constant reminder of what he had lost. "You don't have to be perfect to love someone, Az. And Y/N doesnât need perfect. She needs you." But he couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't enough, that he would only bring her pain.
He walked to Y/N's room, his heart heavy with regret. He had stood outside her door so many times, wanting to knock, wanting to hold her and tell her everything. But he had always walked away, too afraid to face his feelings.
Tonight, he couldn't stay away. He needed to see her, to tell her how he felt, even if it was too late. He reached for the door, his hand trembling as he knocked softly.
There was no answer. He knocked again, louder this time, but the room remained silent. Panic began to set in as he pushed the door open, stepping inside.
The room was empty, the bed neatly made. His eyes landed on the letter, and his heart stopped. He picked it up with shaking hands, his eyes scanning the words.
Each sentence was a knife to his heart. He read her words, feeling the depth of her pain, the love she had carried for so long. And as he reached the end, a sob tore from his throat.
She was gone. He had pushed her away, and now she was gone.
He sank to his knees, clutching the letter to his chest. The shadows around him pulsed with his anguish, but they offered no comfort. He had lost her, and it was his own fault.
I need to find her. The thought was a lifeline, a desperate hope that he clung to. He couldn't let her go, not without a fight.
He stood, his resolve hardening. He would find her, no matter where she had gone. He would make things right, even if it took him the rest of his life.
With a final glance around the empty room, he turned and left, the letter still clutched in his hand. He didn't know where to start, but he knew he couldn't give up. Not now, not ever.
Y/N:
Y/N stood on the edge of the cliff, the wind whipping through her hair as she looked out over the sea. She had traveled for days, seeking solace in the quiet places far from Velaris. But no matter where she went, the pain followed her, a constant shadow.
She had thought that leaving would help her heal, but it had only made the ache more acute. She missed Azriel with every fiber of her being, missed the way his presence had brought her comfort, even in the darkest times.
She closed her eyes, letting the tears fall freely. She had tried to be strong, tried to move on, but the love she felt for him was a part of her, woven into her very soul.
As she stood there, she heard a voice behind her, soft and filled with pain. "Y/N."
She turned, her heart skipping a beat as she saw Azriel standing there, his eyes filled with a mix of desperation and hope.
"Azriel," she whispered, her voice breaking.
He took a step forward, his eyes never leaving hers. "I couldn't let you go. I can't lose you, Y/N. Not like this."
Tears streamed down her face as she shook her head. "You don't understand, Azriel. I've loved you for so long, and it's killing me. I can't keep pretending that I'm okay."
He reached for her, his hand trembling as he cupped her cheek. "I know, Y/N. And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything. But I can't lose you. I love you. I've always loved you."
Her heart ached at his words, the truth she had longed to hear. But the pain was still there, a deep wound that wouldn't heal. "Azriel, it's too late. I'm broken, and I don't know how to fix it."
He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "Then we'll fix it together. Please, Y/N. Don't leave me. I need you. We need each other."
She clung to him, her sobs shaking her body. She wanted to believe him, wanted to believe that they could find a way to heal. But the pain was still there, a constant reminder of the love that had nearly destroyed her.
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, they knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult. But for the first time, they had hopeâhope that they could find a way to heal, to rebuild the shattered pieces of their hearts.
And as the sun set over the sea, casting a golden glow over the world, they took the first step on that journey, together.

Chapter 10: Shadows of Forever
Weeks had passed since Azriel's return and the harrowing night of his injuries. With Y/n's care and the support of the Inner Circle, he had slowly regained his strength. Their bond had deepened even further, forged through the fires of pain and recovery. Yet, the threat of war still loomed, and they knew they had to face it together.
One evening, as the sun set over Velaris, casting a golden glow over the city, Y/n and Azriel found themselves walking through the gardens. The flowers were in full bloom, their colors vibrant against the darkening sky. They walked hand in hand, enjoying the peace of the moment.
"Do you remember the first time we walked through here?" Azriel asked, his voice soft.
Y/n smiled, leaning into his side. "How could I forget? It feels like a lifetime ago."
"It was the beginning of everything," he said, his eyes reflecting the golden light. "And now, here we are, stronger than ever."
Y/n looked up at him, her heart swelling with love. "We've been through so much, Azriel. But weâve faced it all together."
"And weâll continue to face everything together," he replied, his voice filled with determination. "No matter what comes."
They found a secluded bench and sat down, the sounds of the garden surrounding them. Y/n leaned her head on Azriel's shoulder, feeling the steady beat of his heart.
"There's something I want to ask you," Azriel said after a moment, his tone serious.
Y/n sat up, looking into his eyes. "What is it?"
He took her hands in his, his gaze unwavering. "Y/n, we've faced danger, pain, and uncertainty together. You've stood by me through everything, and I can't imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?"
Tears filled Y/n's eyes as she stared at him, her heart overflowing with love and joy. "Yes, Azriel. A thousand times, yes."
Azriel smiled, his own eyes glistening with emotion. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a simple yet elegant ring, slipping it onto her finger. "This is a promise," he said softly. "A promise that I will love you and stand by you for the rest of our lives."
Y/n threw her arms around him, kissing him deeply. "I love you so much," she whispered against his lips. "And I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
They sat there for a while, wrapped in each other's embrace, the world around them fading into the background. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the love they shared and the future they would build together.
The following weeks were filled with preparations for the war, but amidst the tension, there was also a sense of hope. The bond between Y/n and Azriel gave them both strength, and their engagement brought a glimmer of joy to the otherwise grim atmosphere.
On the eve of the final battle, the Inner Circle gathered in the war room, their faces solemn but determined. Y/n stood beside Azriel, her hand tightly clasped in his.
"We're ready," Rhysand said, his voice steady. "We've planned and prepared for this moment. We will protect our home and our people."
Azriel looked around at his friends, his family, and then down at Y/n. "No matter what happens, remember that we stand together. We fight for each other."
Y/n nodded, her heart filled with a mixture of fear and determination. "We'll come through this. Together."
As they prepared to head into battle, Azriel pulled Y/n aside. "I need you to promise me something," he said, his voice urgent.
"Anything," she replied.
"Promise me you'll stay safe. I can't lose you," he said, his eyes filled with worry.
"I promise," she said, cupping his face in her hands. "But you have to promise me the same."
"I promise," he said, leaning down to kiss her. "We'll both come back. And then we'll start our life together."
With one last lingering look, they joined the others, ready to face whatever awaited them.
The battle was fierce and chaotic, but the Night Court fought with a unity and determination that could not be broken. Y/n stayed close to Azriel, their bond guiding them through the fray. They fought side by side, their love giving them the strength to push through the darkest moments.
At one point, Y/n found herself surrounded, but Azriel's shadows sprang to life, defending her with a ferocity that took her breath away. Together, they carved a path through the enemy, their connection an unbreakable force.
As the sun began to rise, the tide of the battle turned in their favor. The King's forces were pushed back, and victory was within their grasp. With a final, powerful strike, Azriel and Y/n brought down the enemy leader, the battlefield falling silent around them.
Breathing heavily, they stood together, the weight of their triumph settling over them. Azriel looked down at Y/n, his eyes filled with pride and love.
"We did it," he said softly.
"We did," she replied, her heart soaring.
As the dawn broke, casting a golden light over the battlefield, Y/n and Azriel stood hand in hand, ready to face the future together. They had faced darkness and emerged stronger, their love a beacon of hope and strength.
And as they walked back to their friends and family, they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, bound by a love that was stronger than any shadow.

One-Shot: A Prophecy
Summary:Â
In "Shadows of Destiny," Y/N, a warrior from the Spring Court, and Azriel, the Night Court's spymaster, find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other despite an ancient prophecy that fates them to kill one another. As their love grows amidst political turmoil and war, they defy fate's cruel design. When Y/N's sacrifice breaks the cycle, her soul finds refuge in Azriel's shadows, allowing their love to transcend even death
Word Count: 1709
Warnings: This story includes themes of prophecy and destiny, character death, intense emotional scenes, and battle violence. Readers should be aware of these elements as they navigate the narrative.
The ancient prophecy had haunted Y/N for as long as she could remember. It spoke of soulmates destined to find each other, only to be torn apart by fate. The twist was that these soulmates were fated to kill each other, their love doomed to end in bloodshed. As a warrior of the Spring Court, Y/N had always dismissed such tales as myth, until she met Azriel.
Their paths first crossed on a battlefield, amidst the chaos of a skirmish between the Spring and Night Courts. Y/N had fought fiercely, her skills unmatched, until she found herself face-to-face with Azriel. His shadows swirled around him, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. Their eyes locked, and she felt a jolt of recognition, a pull that went beyond the physical.
"Who are you?" she demanded, her voice steady despite the turmoil around them.
Azriel's gaze was intense, his voice low and compelling. "Azriel of the Night Court. And you?"
"Y/N of the Spring Court," she replied, her grip tightening on her weapon.
They circled each other warily, the sounds of battle fading into the background. It was as if the world had narrowed to just the two of them. Despite the tension, there was an undeniable connection, a strange familiarity that neither could ignore.
"You're strong," Azriel observed, his tone almost admiring.
"So are you," Y/N countered, her heart pounding.
Before they could engage, a sudden surge of reinforcements from both sides forced them apart. Y/N lost sight of Azriel in the chaos, but the memory of their encounter lingered, haunting her thoughts.
Months passed, and Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that fate had more in store for her and Azriel. She found herself thinking of him often, wondering if he felt the same pull, the same inexplicable bond.
Their next encounter came during a diplomatic mission to Velaris. Y/N had been chosen to accompany Tamlin, a rare gesture of goodwill between the courts. As they arrived at the House of Wind, her heart raced with anticipation. She knew Azriel would be there, and she was both excited and terrified to see him again.
Sure enough, Azriel was there to greet them, his expression neutral but his eyes betraying a flicker of recognition. Y/N felt the same jolt as before, the same undeniable pull.
"Welcome to Velaris," Azriel said, his voice calm but his gaze intense.
"Thank you," Y/N replied, forcing herself to remain composed.
The days that followed were filled with tense negotiations and formal gatherings. Yet, despite the political tension, Y/N and Azriel found themselves drawn to each other. They exchanged glances across crowded rooms, their connection growing stronger with each passing day.
One night, unable to sleep, Y/N wandered through the gardens of the House of Wind. She wasn't surprised to find Azriel there, his shadows a dark contrast to the moonlit flowers.
"Couldn't sleep either?" he asked, his voice soft.
"No," she admitted, joining him. "Too much on my mind."
They stood in silence for a while, the night air cool and soothing. Finally, Y/N spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. "Do you ever think about the prophecy?"
Azriel's gaze darkened. "Every day. It's a curse, knowing you're destined to destroy the one you love."
Y/N's heart ached at his words. "What if we could change it? Defy fate?"
He looked at her, his expression a mix of hope and sorrow. "I've thought about it. But fate is a powerful force."
She reached out, taking his hand in hers. "So is love."
Their eyes met, and in that moment, Y/N felt a surge of determination. She refused to accept that they were doomed to kill each other. They had to find another way.
As the days turned into weeks, Y/N and Azriel grew closer, their bond deepening despite the looming shadow of the prophecy. They trained together, fought side by side, and shared their hopes and fears. Their love grew, a beacon of light amidst the darkness.
But fate was relentless.
During a crucial battle against Hybern, Y/N found herself facing Azriel once again. This time, it wasn't a skirmish but a full-blown war. As they fought their enemies, the prophecy's shadow loomed over them, a cruel reminder of their destiny.
Amidst the chaos, they were forced to fight each other, the prophecy driving them apart even as their love tried to hold them together. Y/N's heart shattered with every clash of their weapons, every strike that brought them closer to the inevitable.
"Y/N, stop!" Azriel pleaded, his voice raw with emotion. "We don't have to do this!"
Tears streamed down her face as she fought back. "I don't want to, Azriel! But the prophecy..."
"To hell with the prophecy!" he shouted, his shadows swirling around him in a frenzy. "We can fight it, together!"
In that moment, Y/N made a choice. She dropped her weapon, stepping back and lowering her defenses. "I won't fight you, Azriel. I love you too much."
Azriel's eyes filled with anguish as he lowered his own weapon. "Y/N..."
But fate was cruel. A stray arrow, aimed at Azriel, found its mark in Y/N instead. She gasped, pain searing through her as she collapsed to the ground.
"NO!" Azriel cried, rushing to her side. He cradled her in his arms, his shadows desperately trying to heal her.
Y/N looked up at him, her vision blurring. "We... we defied fate, Azriel. We proved... that love is stronger."
Tears streamed down his face as he held her close. "Stay with me, Y/N. Please, stay with me."
With her last breath, she smiled. "I'll always be with you... in the shadows."
As her life faded, Azriel felt a piece of his soul die with her. The prophecy had been fulfilled, but in a way he had never expected. Y/N's sacrifice had broken the cycle, proving that love could indeed defy fate, even if it came at the ultimate cost.
In the days that followed, Velaris mourned the loss of a hero. Y/N's bravery and sacrifice were honored, her name spoken with reverence. Azriel, however, was inconsolable. He withdrew into himself, his shadows dark and restless, a constant reminder of the love he had lost.
Rhysand, Feyre, and the rest of the Inner Circle did their best to support him, but they knew there was no comfort for the kind of pain he was enduring. Rhysand found him one night on a rooftop, staring out over the city.
"Azriel," Rhysand began, his voice gentle. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
Azriel didn't look at him, his gaze fixed on the stars. "She was my mate, Rhys. My soulmate. And I lost her because of a damn prophecy."
Rhysand placed a hand on his shoulder. "She loved you, Azriel. And she sacrificed herself to save you. That's a testament to her strength and her love for you."
Azriel's voice broke. "I didn't even get to tell her... how much I loved her. How much she meant to me."
"You showed her," Rhysand said softly. "Every day, you showed her. And she knew."
Azriel finally looked at him, his eyes filled with anguish. "What do I do now, Rhys? How do I go on without her?"
Rhysand's eyes were filled with empathy. "You honor her memory. You live the life she wanted for you. And you remember that her love is still with you, even in the shadows."
Azriel nodded, tears streaming down his face. "I'll try. For her."
As the weeks turned into months, Azriel tried to find solace in his duties, but the pain of losing Y/N never truly faded. One evening, as he sat alone in his room, his shadows swirling around him restlessly, he felt a strange sensation. It was as if one of his shadows was speaking to him, whispering words he couldn't quite make out.
He focused, trying to understand the message. And then, clear as day, he heard her voice.
"Azriel."
His heart stopped. "Y/N?"
The shadow seemed to shimmer, taking on a more defined shape. "I'm here, Azriel. I've always been here."
Tears filled his eyes as he reached out, his hand trembling. "How is this possible?"
Her voice was soft and soothing. "When I died, my soul didn't move on. It found a new home, in your shadows. I couldn't leave you."
Azriel's tears flowed freely. "I've missed you so much."
"I know," she whispered. "I've missed you too. But I'm still with you, Azriel. Always."
He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of peace he hadn't known since her death. "I don't know how to go on without you."
"You don't have to," she replied. "We'll face this together. Just like we always have."
From that day forward, Azriel found strength in knowing that Y/N was still with him, her presence a constant comfort. He could hear her voice in the quiet moments, feel her guidance in the darkest of times.
When he needed advice, she was there. When he felt lost, she helped him find his way. And in the moments of deepest sorrow, she reminded him of the love they shared, a love that could never be broken.
One night, as Azriel stood on a rooftop, looking out over Velaris, he felt her presence stronger than ever.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked, her voice like a gentle caress.
"About us," he replied. "About the future."
"And what do you see?" she asked.
He smiled, feeling her warmth. "I see a world where our love shines brighter than any prophecy. Where we defy fate, together."
Y/N's laughter filled the air, a beautiful sound that made his heart soar. "I like that vision."
"So do I," he said softly. "And we'll make it a reality. No matter what."
As the stars sparkled above, Azriel knew that their love would guide him through the shadows, a beacon of hope and strength. And with Y/N by his side, he was ready to face whatever the future held.
Together, they would defy fate, proving that love was the most powerful force of all.

The tension in the grand hall of the House of Wind was palpable. Representatives from the various courts gathered to discuss the increasing threats from Hybern. Y/N, the emissary from the Spring Court, stood tall and composed, her eyes scanning the room. She was known for her sharp mind and even sharper tongue, particularly when it came to dealing with the Night Court's spymaster, Azriel.
Azriel stood across the room, his shadows curling around him like a protective shroud. He was watching Y/N with an unreadable expression, their last argument still fresh in his mind. The animosity between them was well-known, their bickering a source of amusement and frustration for those around them.
"Y/N, perhaps you can enlighten us with the Spring Court's perspective on this matter," Rhysand said, his tone diplomatic.
Y/N stepped forward, her gaze flicking briefly to Azriel before she spoke. "The Spring Court believes that we must take a more aggressive stance against Hybern. Waiting for them to strike first will only lead to more devastation."
Azriel couldn't help but interject. "And rushing into a conflict without proper intelligence will lead to unnecessary casualties."
Y/N shot him a glare. "We need to be proactive, not reactive, Azriel. Your cautious approach will cost us valuable time."
Azriel's eyes narrowed. "And your reckless approach will cost us lives."
The room fell silent, the tension between them crackling like electricity. Rhysand stepped in, his voice calm but firm. "We need to find a balance between caution and action. Let's continue this discussion without the personal attacks."
Y/N took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. "Fine. Let's focus on finding a solution."
As the meeting continued, Y/N and Azriel exchanged sharp looks and cutting remarks, their apparent dislike for each other on full display. But beneath the surface, a different story was unfolding.
Later that evening, Y/N slipped away from the House of Wind, making her way to a secluded spot by the Sidra River. She glanced around to ensure no one had followed her, then leaned against a tree, waiting.
A few moments later, Azriel appeared, his shadows swirling around him. "Y/N," he said softly, his voice a stark contrast to the harsh tone he had used earlier.
She looked up, her expression softening. "Azriel."
He moved closer, pulling her into his arms. "I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I hate fighting with you."
Y/N sighed, resting her head against his chest. "I know. It's necessary, though. We can't let them suspect anything."
Azriel's grip tightened around her. "I wish we didn't have to hide. I hate pretending to dislike you."
She smiled sadly. "It's the only way to keep us both safe. If anyone found out..."
He nodded, understanding the unspoken danger. "I know. But it doesn't make it any easier."
They stood there in silence for a while, the sound of the river flowing peacefully beside them. Azriel's shadows enveloped them, creating a cocoon of privacy in which they could share these stolen moments.
"Sometimes I wonder if this is worth it," Y/N whispered. "All the secrecy and the danger."
Azriel cupped her face in his hands, looking into her eyes. "You are worth it, Y/N. Every moment we have together is worth the risk."
Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned into his touch. "I love you, Azriel."
He kissed her gently, pouring all his love and longing into that one kiss. "I love you too, Y/N. More than anything."
As the night grew darker, they reluctantly pulled away from each other, knowing they had to return to their respective roles. Azriel took a step back, his expression torn. "Stay safe, Y/N. We'll find a way to be together openly someday."
She nodded, wiping away her tears. "Promise me you'll be careful."
"I promise," he said, his voice filled with determination.
With one last lingering look, Y/N turned and made her way back to the House of Wind, her heart heavy but filled with hope. Azriel watched her go, his shadows whispering words of comfort and resolve.
The next day, the tension in the grand hall was palpable once again. Y/N and Azriel resumed their roles, bickering and arguing as usual. But now, each cutting remark and heated exchange was laced with a secret understanding, a hidden love that only they knew.
As the discussions continued, Rhysand observed the two with a keen eye. He had long suspected there was more to their interactions than met the eye, but he respected their privacy and the roles they played.
The meeting ended with a tentative plan of action, a compromise that balanced caution and aggression. As the representatives began to leave, Y/N and Azriel shared a brief, knowing glance, a silent promise of love and support.
That night, as Y/N lay in her room, she clung to the hope that one day they could be together without hiding. Until then, they would continue to fight for peace and for each other, their love burning brightly in the shadows.
And as Azriel watched over Velaris from his perch on the roof, his thoughts were consumed by Y/N. No matter the challenges they faced, he knew they would find a way to be together. Their love was a force stronger than any enemy, and it would guide them through the darkest of times.
Weeks passed, and their secret meetings continued. But one fateful day, everything changed. Y/N returned to the Spring Court to report back to Tamlin, unaware that her secret had been discovered.
She was in her chambers when Tamlin stormed in, fury etched across his face. "Y/N, what have you done?"
She looked up, startled. "Tamlin, what's wrong?"
"Don't play dumb with me," he snarled, his eyes blazing with anger. "I've heard the rumors. You're involved with Azriel, the Night Court's spymaster."
Y/N's heart sank. "Tamlin, I can explainâ"
"Explain?" he shouted. "You've betrayed us! Consorting with the enemy, my own sister!"
Tears filled her eyes. "I love him, Tamlin. You don't understand."
Tamlin's expression hardened. "I understand perfectly. You will not leave this court. You are forbidden from seeing him again."
Y/N's heart shattered. "You can't keep me here."
"Watch me," he said coldly. "Guards!"
As two guards stepped forward to escort her to a locked room, Y/N felt a surge of desperation. She had to get word to Azriel. She needed to find a way out.
Back in Velaris, Azriel was pacing in Rhysand's office when one of his shadows brought him the news. He felt a cold dread settle over him. "Tamlin knows," he said, his voice filled with urgency. "Y/N is in danger."
Rhysand's eyes narrowed. "We need to get her out of there."
Without wasting another moment, Azriel spread his wings and took to the skies, his shadows guiding him to the Spring Court. He moved swiftly and silently, his heart pounding with fear for Y/N's safety.
When he arrived, he slipped past the guards with ease, his shadows cloaking him in darkness. He found Y/N in a locked room, her eyes filled with fear and relief when she saw him.
"Azriel," she whispered, running to him.
He pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. "I'm here. I'm getting you out of here."
They moved quickly, Azriel using his shadows to cloak them both as they navigated the halls. But as they reached the courtyard, Tamlin and his guards appeared, blocking their path.
"You won't take her," Tamlin growled, his voice filled with rage.
Azriel's eyes blazed with determination. "I won't let you keep her prisoner."
Y/N clung to Azriel, her heart pounding. "Please, Tamlin. Let me go."
Tamlin's expression twisted with anger and pain. "You chose him over your own family. You betrayed us."
"I love him," Y/N said, her voice breaking. "And I can't stay here. Not like this."
Tamlin hesitated, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. But Azriel didn't wait. He spread his wings, his shadows enveloping them both, and with a powerful leap, they soared into the sky, leaving the Spring Court behind.
When they landed back in Velaris, Y/N was trembling with relief and fear. Azriel held her close, his shadows wrapping around them protectively.
"You're safe now," he whispered, his voice filled with love and determination.
Y/N looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "I couldn't stay there, Azriel. Not without you."
He kissed her gently, his heart swelling with love and pride. "We'll find a way to be together. No matter what."
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, they knew that the road ahead would be difficult. But their love was a force stronger than any obstacle, and together, they would face whatever came their way.
In the safety of the Night Court, surrounded by allies and friends, they knew that their love would guide them through the darkest of times. And as the stars sparkled above Velaris, they made a silent vow to protect each other and their love, no matter the cost.

Chapter 9: Shadows of Pain
The days without Azriel passed slowly, each one dragging on longer than the last. Y/n kept herself busy with training and planning with the Inner Circle, but the gnawing worry for Azriel never left her. She found solace in the moments she could sense their bond, feeling his presence even from afar, but it was never enough to ease her fears completely.
One evening, Y/n was sitting in her room, staring at the night sky. She held the journal Azriel had given her, running her fingers over the smooth cover, drawing comfort from the connection it symbolized. Suddenly, she felt a sharp, searing pain through the bond, a sensation so intense it took her breath away.
"Azriel," she gasped, her heart pounding in her chest.
She ran through the halls of the House of Wind, desperate to find Rhysand. Bursting into the war room, she found him with Cassian and Feyre, their faces immediately turning to her in alarm.
"Y/n, what is it?" Rhysand asked, his voice filled with concern.
"It's Azriel," she said, her voice trembling. "Something's wrong. He's hurt."
Without a moment's hesitation, Rhysand reached out through their mental link, his expression growing more serious by the second. "Heâs coming back, but heâs badly injured. We need to prepare."
The minutes felt like hours as they waited for Azriel's return. Y/n stood on the steps of the House of Wind, her heart in her throat. Finally, she saw a dark figure descending from the sky, struggling to stay aloft. Cassian rushed forward, catching Azriel as he landed heavily, his wings battered and torn.
"Azriel!" Y/n cried, running to his side.
Azrielâs face was pale, his eyes filled with pain. "Y/n," he murmured, his voice weak. "I'm sorry..."
"Don't you dare apologize," she said, tears streaming down her face. "We need to get you inside."
Cassian and Rhysand helped carry Azriel into the house, laying him gently on a bed. Feyre quickly gathered supplies, her expression grim. Y/n knelt beside Azriel, her hands shaking as she assessed his injuries. Deep gashes marred his torso, and his wings were shredded, blood staining the floor beneath him.
"I need to heal him," she said, her voice steady despite the fear gripping her heart. "Feyre, help me."
Feyre nodded, her own healing abilities already at work. Together, they focused on Azriel, their magic intertwining as they worked to mend his wounds. Y/n poured all her love and desperation into her healing, feeling the bond between them strengthen as she fought to save him.
Azriel's breath was ragged, his eyes fluttering open to meet hers. "Y/n," he whispered, his voice filled with pain and regret. "I'm so sorry..."
"Stop," she said fiercely, her tears falling onto his chest. "Youâre going to be okay. Just hold on."
As the hours passed, the worst of Azriel's injuries began to heal, but he remained unconscious, his body exhausted from the ordeal. Y/n stayed by his side, her hand tightly gripping his, refusing to leave him for even a moment.
The night wore on, and Y/n found herself drifting in and out of a restless sleep, her head resting on the edge of Azriel's bed. She woke to the feeling of his hand squeezing hers weakly, and her eyes snapped open.
"Azriel?" she whispered, her heart leaping with hope.
His eyes opened slowly, the pain still evident but a flicker of relief in their depths. "Y/n... youâre here."
"Of course I am," she said, her voice trembling. "Iâm not going anywhere."
Azrielâs fingers tightened around hers, his gaze locking onto hers with an intensity that took her breath away. "I thought I lost you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Youâll never lose me," she replied, tears streaming down her face. "Weâre mates. Weâre bound together."
He closed his eyes, a tear slipping down his cheek. "I love you, Y/n. More than anything."
"I love you too, Azriel," she said, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to his forehead. "Rest now. Weâll get through this together."
The following days were a blur of healing and recovery. Y/n stayed by Azrielâs side, tending to his every need, her heart aching with the depth of her love and worry. Cassian and Rhysand took turns sitting with them, offering their support and comfort.
One evening, as Y/n sat beside Azriel, he reached out and took her hand, his grip stronger than it had been in days. "Thank you," he said softly. "For saving me."
"You saved me first," she replied, her voice filled with emotion. "And Iâll keep saving you, as many times as it takes."
Azriel smiled weakly, his eyes filled with love. "Iâm so lucky to have you."
"No," Y/n said, shaking her head. "Iâm the lucky one."
As they sat together in the quiet of the room, Y/n felt the bond between them strengthen, a deep, unbreakable connection that would see them through any storm. And in that moment, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, bound by a love that was stronger than anything the world could throw at them.

Chapter 8: Shadows of Conflict
The following days were blissful for Y/n and Azriel. Their bond, now fully realized, brought them a new sense of intimacy and connection. They spent their days training together, sharing quiet moments, and simply enjoying each other's company. However, the looming threat of war cast a shadow over their happiness.
One afternoon, Y/n and Azriel were in the training yard, sparring playfully. Cassian watched from the sidelines, a proud smile on his face as he saw his sisterâs skills improving under Azrielâs guidance. Their laughter echoed through the yard, a rare moment of joy amidst the tension.
As they finished their session, Rhysand approached, his expression serious. "Azriel, Y/n, we need to talk."
They followed him to the war room, where the rest of the Inner Circle was gathered. The atmosphere was tense, the air heavy with unspoken concerns.
"We've received new intelligence," Rhysand began, his eyes scanning the room. "The King is planning a major offensive. We need to prepare for an imminent attack."
Azrielâs grip tightened on Y/nâs hand, his protective instincts flaring. "What do you need from us?"
"We need to be ready," Rhysand replied. "Azriel, I need you to gather more information. We need to know the exact details of his plan."
Y/nâs heart sank at the thought of Azriel leaving again. "Is it safe?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"Itâs never safe," Rhysand admitted. "But itâs necessary. We need to be prepared."
Azriel nodded, his expression determined. "Iâll do it. Whatever it takes to keep us safe."
As the meeting continued, Y/n felt a growing sense of unease. The stakes were higher than ever, and the thought of Azriel in danger again was almost too much to bear. She knew how important his mission was, but the fear of losing him gnawed at her heart.
That night, Y/n couldnât sleep. She lay awake, her mind racing with worry. Finally, she slipped out of bed and went to find Azriel. She found him on the balcony, staring out at the night sky, lost in thought.
"Azriel," she called softly, her voice breaking the silence.
He turned to her, his eyes filled with a mixture of determination and concern. "Y/n, whatâs wrong?"
"Iâm scared," she admitted, stepping into his embrace. "I donât want to lose you."
Azriel held her tightly, his heart aching at her words. "I know. But I have to do this. We need to protect our home, our family."
Tears filled her eyes as she looked up at him. "Promise me youâll come back."
"I promise," he whispered, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Iâll always come back to you."
The next morning, as Azriel prepared to leave, Y/nâs anxiety grew. She stood with Cassian, Rhysand, and Feyre, watching as Azriel readied himself for the mission. The weight of the impending separation hung heavily in the air.
Just as Azriel was about to take off, Mor appeared, her expression troubled. "Wait," she called, her voice urgent.
Azriel paused, turning to face her. "What is it?"
"I had a vision," Mor said, her eyes wide with fear. "The King knows youâre coming. Itâs a trap."
A stunned silence fell over the group. Y/nâs heart pounded in her chest, a cold dread settling over her. "You canât go," she said, her voice trembling. "Itâs too dangerous."
Azrielâs jaw tightened, his mind racing. "We need that information," he said, his voice resolute. "But we canât walk into a trap."
Rhysand nodded, his expression grim. "We need to find another way."
As the group discussed their options, Y/n felt a sense of helplessness wash over her. The danger was real, and the thought of Azriel walking into a trap was almost unbearable. She clung to his hand, her heart aching with fear and love.
Later that evening, as they sat together in the quiet of their room, Azriel turned to Y/n, his expression serious. "I need to go," he said softly. "But we need to be smart about it. I canât put you through this worry again."
Y/n looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and determination. "Then we find another way. Together."
Azriel nodded, his heart swelling with love and pride for her. "Together."
They spent the night planning, coming up with a strategy to outsmart the King and gather the information they needed without falling into his trap. The bond between them, their love and trust, gave them the strength to face the challenges ahead.
The next morning, they presented their plan to the Inner Circle. It was risky, but it was their best chance to gather the intelligence they needed without walking into the Kingâs trap. With the support of their friends and the strength of their bond, Y/n and Azriel felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.
As Azriel prepared to leave once more, Y/n stood by his side, her heart filled with a mixture of fear and hope. "Be safe," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
"I will," he promised, pressing a tender kiss to her lips. "And Iâll come back to you. Always."
With one last lingering look, Azriel took to the skies, his shadows swirling around him like a protective cloak. Y/n watched him go, her heart aching with love and worry, knowing that no matter what happened, they would face it together.

One-Shot: Tempest in the Court
Summary:
Tensions run high in the House of Wind as Y/N finds herself in a heated argument with Amren and Nesta over a critical mission strategy. When Azriel steps in to break up the fight, he brings a calming presence and ensures that every voice is heard. Through the conflict, Y/N realizes the strength of her bond with Azriel, finding solace and support in his unwavering belief in her.
Word Count: 818
Warnings: This story includes scenes of intense argument and emotional conflict. There is also mention of mission planning and potential danger. If these topics are sensitive for you, please read with caution.
The tension in the House of Wind was palpable. Y/N stood in the center of the room, her fists clenched at her sides, glaring at Amren and Nesta. The argument had started over a seemingly minor disagreement about a mission report, but it had quickly escalated into something far more heated.
"You don't understand the stakes, Y/N!" Amren snapped, her eyes flashing with anger. "This isn't just about you or your feelings."
Y/N's face was flushed with frustration. "I'm fully aware of the stakes, Amren. But that doesn't give you the right to dismiss my concerns."
Nesta, standing beside Amren, crossed her arms and fixed Y/N with a cold stare. "Your concerns? This is about the safety of the entire court. We don't have time for your insecurities."
"Insecurities?" Y/N shot back, her voice rising. "I'm trying to ensure we don't make a fatal mistake. You can't just bulldoze over everyone because you think you know best."
The air crackled with tension, the argument teetering on the edge of a full-blown shouting match. Just as Amren opened her mouth to retort, the door swung open, and Azriel stepped into the room. His shadows flared around him, sensing the animosity in the air.
"What's going on here?" he asked, his voice calm but firm.
All three women turned to face him, their expressions varying degrees of anger and frustration. Y/N felt a pang of relief at his presence, but her anger still simmered beneath the surface.
"Azriel," Amren said coolly, "we're having a disagreement about the mission strategy."
"That's an understatement," Y/N muttered, crossing her arms.
Azriel's eyes flicked to Y/N, a look of concern crossing his face. "Y/N, what happened?"
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "I brought up some valid concerns about the mission, but Amren and Nesta dismissed them outright."
Nesta scoffed. "We didn't dismiss them. We evaluated them and found them lacking."
Y/N's eyes flashed with anger. "Lacking? Or inconvenient for your plan?"
Azriel stepped between them, his shadows curling protectively around Y/N. "Enough," he said, his voice carrying a note of finality. "This isn't how we solve problems."
Amren narrowed her eyes at Azriel. "We can't afford to be soft, Azriel. You know that."
"Being thorough and considerate isn't being soft," Azriel replied evenly. "It's ensuring we don't overlook important details."
Y/N felt a surge of gratitude towards Azriel for standing up for her, but she also knew this wasn't over. "I'm not asking for special treatment," she said, her voice steady. "I'm asking for my concerns to be taken seriously."
Azriel nodded, his gaze shifting to Amren and Nesta. "And they will be. Weâre a team, and every voice matters. Dismissing someoneâs concerns without proper consideration is a mistake we can't afford to make."
Amren's expression softened slightly, and she gave a curt nod. "Fine. Let's hear her out."
Y/N took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "Thank you. I believe the information we have about the enemy's movements is outdated. If we proceed with the current plan, we might walk into a trap. I suggest we verify the intelligence before moving forward."
Nesta sighed but nodded reluctantly. "Fine. We'll double-check the intel. But we need to act quickly."
Azriel's gaze softened as he looked at Y/N. "Thank you for speaking up, Y/N. Your insights are valuable."
Y/N felt a warmth spread through her at his words. "I just want to make sure weâre all safe."
Amren stepped forward, her tone more measured. "We'll review the intelligence. If you're right, it could save lives. We can't afford to overlook anything."
The tension in the room eased slightly, and Y/N felt a sense of relief. The argument had been intense, but it had also led to a necessary reconsideration of their plans.
As Amren and Nesta left to follow up on the new plan, Azriel stayed behind with Y/N. He reached out, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You did well, Y/N. Donât let anyone make you feel otherwise."
She looked up at him, her eyes still holding traces of the earlier anger but now mixed with gratitude. "Thank you, Azriel. For standing up for me."
He smiled, his eyes warm. "Always. Weâre in this together."
As they stood there, the last rays of the setting sun casting a warm glow over them, Y/N felt a sense of peace. The argument had been tough, but it had also shown her the strength of their bond. No matter the challenges they faced, she knew that with Azriel by her side, they could overcome anything.
And as they turned to leave the room together, Y/N felt a renewed sense of determination. The road ahead would be difficult, but with allies like Azriel, she knew they could face whatever came their way.

One-Shot: A Poet's Discovery
Summary:Â
Azriel finds Y/Nâs journal filled with heartfelt poetry about a mysterious man, sparking jealousy and curiosity. As he tries to uncover the identity of her muse, Cassian's playful teasing leads him to a surprising revelation that could change everything.
Word Count: 976
Warnings: None
Azriel prowled the halls of the House of Wind, shadows whispering around him. He had been tasked with delivering a message to Y/N, a priestess living in the library. Rescued by Rhysand and Azriel from a brutal attack on her church, Y/N had since found solace and purpose among the books and scrolls. As he approached her room, he noticed the door slightly ajar. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to knock, but the soft sound of rustling paper caught his attention.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he peeked inside. Y/Nâs room was a mess of papers and books, but one particular journal lay open on her desk, its pages filled with delicate handwriting. Azriel knew he shouldnât invade her privacy, but the temptation was too strong. He stepped inside and picked up the journal.
His eyes skimmed over the lines of poetry, his heart pounding as he realized the words were filled with longing and admiration for someone. He couldnât help but feel a pang of jealousy, wondering who had captured Y/Nâs heart so completely.
His eyes, dark as the night, hold secrets I wish to unravel. His touch, gentle yet strong, leaves me breathless with desire. In his presence, I am whole, yet shattered by the distance between us.
Azrielâs jaw tightened. Who was this man she wrote about? He continued reading, the poetry becoming more intense with each line.
Oh, how I long for his embrace, to feel his shadows wrap around me, to be lost in his world. He is my night, my stars, my everything.
Azrielâs mind raced. Shadows? Stars? Could it be... No, it couldnât. He shook his head, trying to dismiss the thought. It had to be someone else. But the jealousy gnawed at him, making his shadows swirl restlessly.
âWhat are you doing?â Cassianâs voice broke the silence, startling Azriel.
Azriel quickly shut the journal and turned to see Cassian leaning against the doorframe, a wide grin on his face. âNothing,â Azriel muttered, trying to compose himself.
Cassianâs grin widened. âNothing, huh? You look like youâve just read something scandalous.â
Azriel glared at him, but Cassianâs teasing expression didnât waver. âItâs none of your business.â
Cassian stepped into the room, eyes twinkling with mischief. âOh, but it is. Youâre my brother, and seeing you all flustered is my favorite pastime. So, what did you find?â
Azriel sighed, knowing there was no escaping Cassianâs curiosity. âItâs Y/Nâs journal. Sheâs written poetry about someone sheâs clearly infatuated with.â
Cassian raised an eyebrow. âAnd youâre jealous because...?â
âIâm not jealous,â Azriel snapped, but the words lacked conviction.
Cassian laughed, clapping Azriel on the back. âSure, youâre not. Let me see.â
Azriel reluctantly handed over the journal, and Cassian began to read. As he reached the parts about the shadows and stars, his grin grew even wider. âOh, this is gold. Sheâs talking about you, you idiot!â
Azriel frowned, feeling a flicker of hope. âWhat makes you so sure?â
Cassian rolled his eyes. âShadows, stars, nightâwho else fits that description? Sheâs smitten with you, and youâre too dense to see it.â
Azrielâs heart raced as the realization sank in. âYou really think itâs me?â
Cassian laughed again, shaking his head. âAz, youâre supposed to be the smart one. Yes, itâs you. And now you have to do something about it.â
Azriel felt a mix of relief and panic. âBut what if Iâm wrong? What if she doesnât feel that way?â
Cassian smirked, handing back the journal. âThereâs only one way to find out. Talk to her. And maybe, just maybe, stop being so broody all the time.â
Azriel sighed, glancing down at the journal. âYou make it sound so easy.â
Cassian shrugged, heading for the door. âIt is. Now go, before I start writing poetry about how hopeless you are.â
Left alone in Y/Nâs room, Azriel took a deep breath. Cassian was right. He needed to talk to her, to find out the truth. He couldnât let jealousy and doubt control him.
Gathering his courage, he left the room and went in search of Y/N. He found her in the library, surrounded by books, her expression peaceful as she read. She looked up as he approached, a smile spreading across her face.
âAzriel,â she greeted him warmly. âWhat brings you here?â
He hesitated for a moment before sitting down beside her. âI found your journal,â he admitted, watching her expression closely.
Her eyes widened, a blush creeping up her cheeks. âYou read it?â
He nodded, feeling his heart pound in his chest. âYes. And I need to know... the poetry. Is it about me?â
Y/Nâs blush deepened, but she met his gaze, her eyes filled with vulnerability. âYes, Azriel. Itâs about you.â
Relief and joy washed over him, and he couldnât help but smile. âI was hoping youâd say that.â
She looked at him, her expression a mix of hope and uncertainty. âYou were?â
He reached out, taking her hand in his. âYes. Because I feel the same way, Y/N. Iâve just been too blind to see it.â
Her smile brightened, and she squeezed his hand. âThen weâre both idiots.â
Azriel laughed softly, leaning in to kiss her gently. âI can live with that.â
As they sat together in the library, surrounded by the quiet rustle of pages and the soft glow of lanterns, Azriel felt a sense of peace and happiness he hadnât known in a long time. Cassianâs teasing might have been annoying, but it had led him to the truth. And for that, he was grateful.
And somewhere in the House of Wind, Cassian was probably writing his own poetry about how hopelessly romantic Azriel could be. But for now, Azriel didnât care. He had found his light in the darkness, and that was all that mattered.

One-Shot: Whispers of Desire
Summary:
In the serene night of Velaris, Azriel and Y/N steal a secret, passionate moment together. As their hidden relationship intensifies, they explore their deepest desires, finding solace and connection in each otherâs arms.
Word Count: 705
Warnings: This one-shot contains explicit sexual content, mature themes, and strong language. Reader discretion is advised.
The night in Velaris was serene, the city illuminated by the soft glow of lanterns and the twinkling stars above. Azriel walked the quiet streets, his shadows whispering around him. Tonight, he was on his way to a secret rendezvous with Y/N. Their relationship had been a closely guarded secret, filled with stolen moments and whispered confessions.
He reached her door and knocked softly. It opened almost immediately, and there she stood, a vision of beauty that never failed to take his breath away. Her eyes sparkled with excitement and a hint of mischief.
âAzriel,â she breathed, stepping aside to let him in. âIâve been waiting for you.â
He entered, the door closing behind him, shutting out the world. âI couldnât stay away,â he murmured, his voice husky with desire.
She led him to the living room, where a fire crackled warmly in the hearth. The atmosphere was intimate, charged with the unspoken tension that had been building between them. They stood close, their breaths mingling, the air thick with anticipation.
âI missed you,â Y/N whispered, her hand reaching up to trace the line of his jaw.
Azrielâs eyes darkened with longing. âI missed you too. More than you know.â
Their lips met in a searing kiss, all the pent-up desire and longing pouring out in that single moment. Azrielâs hands roamed her back, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss. Y/N responded with equal fervor, her fingers tangling in his hair.
They moved together, almost stumbling to the couch, where they collapsed in a tangle of limbs and heated kisses. Azrielâs hands were everywhere, exploring the curves of her body, memorizing every inch of her.
Y/Nâs breath hitched as his lips moved to her neck, pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses along her skin. âAzriel,â she moaned, arching into his touch.
He groaned, the sound vibrating against her neck. âI need you,â he whispered, his voice rough with need. âNow.â
She responded by tugging at his shirt, her impatience evident. He helped her, pulling it over his head and discarding it carelessly. She traced the lines of his muscles, her touch igniting a fire within him.
Their clothes were shed in a frenzy, each piece falling to the floor in their urgency to be closer. When they were finally bare, Azriel took a moment to drink in the sight of her, his eyes filled with adoration and desire.
âYouâre beautiful,â he said softly, his hands caressing her sides.
She smiled, pulling him down for another kiss. âShow me how much you want me.â
Azriel didnât need to be told twice. He positioned himself above her, his eyes locking onto hers as he slowly entered her, their bodies finally joining in a way they had both craved for so long. The feeling was indescribable, a mix of pleasure and deep emotional connection.
They moved together in a rhythm that was both passionate and tender, their moans and whispers filling the room. Azrielâs shadows danced around them, mirroring the intensity of their union.
As their pace quickened, Y/Nâs nails dug into his back, her breaths coming in short gasps. âAzriel, Iâm close,â she panted.
âLet go,â he urged, his voice strained with his own impending release. âIâve got you.â
With a final cry, she shattered beneath him, her body trembling with the force of her climax. Azriel followed moments later, his release powerful and all-consuming. He collapsed beside her, pulling her into his arms, their bodies slick with sweat and satisfaction.
For a while, they lay there, their breaths gradually slowing, the fire casting a warm glow over their intertwined forms. Azriel gently stroked her hair, his heart full of contentment.
âI love you,â he murmured, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes shining with love. âI love you too, Azriel. More than anything.â
In that quiet moment, surrounded by the warmth of the fire and the afterglow of their lovemaking, they knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together. Their bond was unbreakable, their love undeniable.
And as they drifted off to sleep in each otherâs arms, the shadows around them whispered of a future filled with endless possibilities and deep, abiding love.

One-Shot: Secrets in the Night
Summary:
Azriel and the bat boys visit a night market where Azriel is captivated by Y/N, a kind-hearted vendor who impresses Rhysand with her handmade jewelry. Despite his shyness, Azriel later surprises Y/N with a thoughtful gift during Winter Solstice, revealing their mutual admiration and hinting at a blossoming romance.
Word Count: 1743
Warnings: None
The night market in Velaris was alive with color and sound. Lanterns hung from every stall, casting a warm glow over the bustling crowd. The scent of spiced cider and freshly baked pastries filled the air, mingling with the laughter and chatter of the shoppers.
Azriel walked alongside Rhysand and Cassian, his eyes scanning the stalls. They were on a mission to find the perfect gifts for the women of the Night Court. Azrielâs mind was only half on the task at hand; the other half was consumed by thoughts of Y/N. He had first seen her at a cafĂŠ in Velaris, drawn to her kindness and the warmth of her smile. Since then, he had found himself inexplicably captivated by her.
As they walked, Azrielâs shadows whispered around him, alerting him to a familiar presence nearby. He turned his head and saw Y/N standing behind a booth, her hands deftly arranging a display of intricate jewelry. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her, but he quickly averted his gaze, hoping to avoid drawing attention.
âAz, you seem distracted,â Rhysand remarked, a knowing look in his eyes. âSomething on your mind?â
Azriel shook his head, forcing a casual tone. âJust looking for the right gift.â
Cassian grinned, clapping Azriel on the back. âYou always were the thoughtful one. What are you looking for, exactly?â
Azriel hesitated, not wanting to reveal too much. âSomething special.â
Rhysand raised an eyebrow, his smirk widening. âSomething special, huh? For someone special, perhaps?â
Azrielâs jaw tightened, but he kept his expression neutral. âJust a friend.â
Cassian and Rhysand exchanged a glance, their curiosity piqued. âWell, letâs see if we can help you find this special something,â Cassian said, a mischievous glint in his eye.
As they moved through the market, Azriel couldnât help but steal glances at Y/N. She was beautiful, her face illuminated by the warm light of the lanterns. He wanted to go to her, to talk to her, but he knew now wasnât the right time.
They approached Y/Nâs booth, and Rhysandâs eyes immediately caught sight of a striking black and gold necklace. âThis would be perfect for Feyre,â he murmured, picking it up to examine it more closely.
Y/N looked up, her eyes meeting Rhysandâs with a friendly smile. âThat piece is one of my favorites. I made it with the High Lady in mind.â
Rhysandâs smile widened, clearly impressed. âYou have excellent taste. Iâll take it.â
As Y/N wrapped the necklace, Cassian and Azriel browsed the other items on display. Azrielâs heart pounded as he stood so close to her, the scent of her perfume mixing with the spices of the market.
âYou make all of these yourself?â Cassian asked, genuinely impressed.
Y/N nodded, her hands working quickly. âYes, I do. Itâs my passion.â
Azriel picked up a delicate silver bracelet, admiring the craftsmanship. âThis is beautiful,â he said softly, unable to keep the admiration from his voice.
Y/N looked up, her eyes meeting his for the first time. There was a moment of silence, and Azriel felt as if the world had stopped. âThank you,â she replied, her voice gentle. âIâm glad you like it.â
Rhysand, ever the observer, noticed the exchange and couldnât help but smirk. âAzriel, you should get it. It would make a wonderful gift.â
Azrielâs heart raced, and he quickly placed the bracelet back on the table. âPerhaps,â he said, trying to sound casual.
Cassian chuckled, clearly enjoying Azrielâs discomfort. âDonât be shy, Az. If you like it, you should get it.â
Azriel shot Cassian a warning look but managed a small smile. âIâll think about it.â
As Rhysand completed his purchase, Y/N handed him the wrapped necklace. âI hope she likes it,â she said with a warm smile.
Rhysand nodded, his eyes twinkling. âIâm sure she will. Thank you, Y/N.â
As they walked away from the booth, Rhysand leaned closer to Azriel, his voice low. âSheâs lovely, isnât she?â
Azriel glanced back at Y/N, who was already attending to another customer. âYes, she is.â
Cassian clapped Azriel on the back again. âYou should ask her out. Itâs obvious youâre into her.â
Azriel clenched his fists, struggling to maintain his composure. âI told you, itâs not like that.â
Rhysand laughed softly, shaking his head. âWhatever you say, Az. But maybe itâs time to stop admiring from afar.â
Azriel knew they were right, but the fear of rejection and the desire to keep his feelings hidden weighed heavily on him. As they continued through the market, he resolved to find a way to speak to Y/N againâsoon. For now, he would hold onto the hope that there was a chance for something more.
Winter Solstice had arrived, and the House of Wind was filled with festive cheer. The Night Court gathered to celebrate, exchanging gifts and sharing stories around a roaring fire. Azriel, however, had only one thing on his mind: finding a way to see Y/N.
The night was lively, with laughter and merriment echoing through the halls. Feyre and Rhysand were at the center of it all, their joy infectious. Cassian and Nesta were engaged in a playful argument over who had given the better gift, while Elain moved gracefully through the crowd, her presence a calming influence.
Azriel stood on the periphery, his eyes flickering to the clock. He had managed to find the rare book Y/N had wanted, wrapped it carefully, and planned to slip away to surprise her. But every time he moved to leave, someone called him back.
âAz, come join us!â Cassian shouted, waving him over to where he and Nesta were sitting. âWeâre about to start the gift exchange.â
Azriel sighed inwardly but forced a smile as he approached them. He handed out his gifts, his mind only half on the festivities. His eyes kept darting to the door, hoping for an opportunity to slip away unnoticed.
âAzriel, youâve been awfully quiet tonight,â Rhysand said, appearing at his side with a knowing look. âSomething on your mind?â
Azriel shook his head, masking his impatience. âJust enjoying the evening.â
Rhysand raised an eyebrow but didnât press further. âWell, donât be a stranger. Itâs a night to celebrate.â
As the night wore on, Azriel felt the frustration building. Every time he tried to make his exit, someone else drew him back into the festivities. Feyre called him over to admire a painting, Elain asked for his help with a particularly tricky gift wrap, and even Amren engaged him in a conversation about strategy for their next mission.
Finally, as the clock struck midnight and the celebrations began to wind down, Azriel saw his chance. Most of the guests were starting to leave, and the attention had shifted away from him. He slipped the wrapped book into his coat pocket and quietly made his way to the door.
âAzriel,â Cassian called from across the room, âwhere are you off to in such a hurry?â
Azriel turned, trying to keep his tone light. âJust need some fresh air.â
Cassianâs eyes twinkled with mischief. âFresh air, huh? Sure youâre not sneaking off to meet someone special?â
Azrielâs heart skipped a beat, but he forced a casual smile. âJust needed a moment to myself.â
Rhysand, who had been watching the exchange, gave Azriel a long, appraising look. âDonât stay out too long. Itâs cold out there.â
Azriel nodded and quickly stepped out into the crisp night air, his breath visible in the chill. He walked briskly through the quiet streets of Velaris, his thoughts focused on Y/N. He hoped she hadnât given up on seeing him tonight.
When he finally reached her shop, he saw a soft light glowing from inside. Relief washed over him as he knocked gently on the door. It opened almost immediately, and Y/N stood there, her eyes lighting up with joy and surprise.
âAzriel,â she breathed, stepping aside to let him in. âI didnât think youâd make it.â
He smiled, pulling the wrapped book from his coat and handing it to her. âI wouldnât miss this for the world.â
Y/N took the gift, her fingers brushing against his. âThank you. Come in, itâs freezing out there.â
He stepped inside, the warmth of her shop enveloping him. She led him to a cozy corner where a small fire crackled in the hearth. They sat together, close but not touching, the intimacy of the moment palpable.
Y/N unwrapped the book, her eyes widening with delight. âAzriel, this is perfect. Thank you.â
He smiled, watching her as she carefully turned the pages. âIâm glad you like it.â
She looked up, her eyes filled with emotion. âI got you something too.â
She reached behind her and brought out a small, intricately wrapped box. Azriel took it, his heart swelling with anticipation. Inside, he found a finely crafted leather bracelet, adorned with subtle engravings that seemed to shimmer in the firelight.
âItâs beautiful,â he said softly, slipping it onto his wrist. âThank you, Y/N.â
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the warmth of the fire and the soft glow of the lanterns creating a cocoon of peace around them. Azriel felt a sense of contentment he hadnât known in a long time, simply being in her presence.
Finally, he broke the silence. âY/N, I⌠Iâve been wanting to tell you something.â
She looked at him, her expression open and encouraging. âWhat is it, Azriel?â
He took a deep breath, gathering his courage. âIâve admired you from afar for a long time. Your kindness, your smile⌠they drew me in. Iâve found myself thinking about you more than I care to admit.â
Y/Nâs eyes softened, and she reached out to take his hand. âIâve felt the same way, Azriel. I just didnât know if you felt the same.â
Relief and joy surged through him as he squeezed her hand gently. âI do. And I want to get to know you better, if youâll let me.â
She smiled, her eyes shining with happiness. âIâd like that very much.â
As the fire crackled and the night deepened, Azriel and Y/N sat together, their hearts beating in unison. The journey ahead was uncertain, but in that moment, surrounded by the warmth of the fire and the comfort of each otherâs presence, they felt a glimmer of hopeâa promise of something beautiful yet to come.

One-Shot: Shattered Heart
Summary:Â
Y/N reaches her breaking point, overwhelmed by bottled-up emotions and unspoken love. As she cries in her room, Azriel stands outside, torn by a decision that could change everything. Cassian's advice hangs in the air, but Azriel's fear drives him away, leaving hearts broken and futures uncertain.
Word Count: 1693
Warnings: Heartbreak x 1000%
Y/N:
Y/N stood alone in her room at the House of Wind, the walls closing in around her as the weight of her emotions became too much to bear. She sank to the floor, her body trembling with the force of her sobs. For decades, she had kept her feelings hidden, locked away in the deepest recesses of her heart. She had watched Azriel from afar, loving him in silence, hoping against hope that one day he might see her.
But that day never came. Instead, she watched as Azrielâs gaze lingered on Elain, his shadows curling around her protectively. She saw the way he looked at her, with a softness and warmth that Y/N had always yearned for. The realization that he was falling for Elain had been like a dagger to her heart, twisting deeper with every stolen glance, every gentle touch.
The pain had been bearable at first, a dull ache that she could manage. But as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, the ache had grown into a searing agony. She had tried to push it down, to keep it hidden beneath a veneer of strength and indifference. But now, alone in the sanctuary of her room, she could no longer keep the facade intact.
She thought back to the moments they had sharedâmoments that she had cherished and replayed in her mind a thousand times. The training sessions, the quiet conversations late at night, the way his eyes would soften ever so slightly when he looked at her. She had convinced herself that those moments meant something, that they were signs of a deeper connection. But now, she saw them for what they were: fragments of a shattered dream.
Her sobs grew louder, echoing off the walls. She hugged her knees to her chest, rocking back and forth as the tears continued to flow. Each sob was a release, a cathartic expulsion of the pain that had been suffocating her.
Guilt washed over her, guilt for not being strong enough to move on, for not being able to let go of a love that had never been hers to hold. Regret followed close behind, regret for all the years she had wasted pining after someone who could never return her feelings.
Fear gripped her heart, fear that she would never find happiness, that she would always be alone, watching from the shadows as the people she loved found joy and fulfillment without her.
And then came the anger. Anger at herself for being so foolish, for allowing herself to fall so deeply in love with someone who saw her as nothing more than a friend. Anger at Azriel for being so blind to her feelings, for not seeing the pain he was causing her.
She cried until she had no more tears left to shed, her body exhausted and her heart shattered. The room was silent now, save for the soft sound of her ragged breathing. She felt hollow, emptied of all the emotions that had consumed her for so long.
In the quiet aftermath, a sense of resignation settled over her. She knew she couldnât continue like this, trapped in a cycle of unrequited love and heartache. She needed to find a way to move on, to heal the wounds that had been torn open.
But for now, all she could do was sit in the darkness, letting the remnants of her shattered heart fall around her like ashes.
She would pick up the pieces tomorrow. But tonight, she would allow herself to grieve for the love she had lost, the dreams that would never come true, and the future that had slipped through her fingers like sand.
And as she sat there, wrapped in the cocoon of her pain, she made a silent vow to herself: she would find a way to heal, to rebuild her heart piece by piece. It would be a long and difficult journey, but she would face it with the strength and resilience that had carried her through so many trials before.
She would survive this heartbreak, and she would emerge stronger on the other side. But for now, she would allow herself to feel everything, to mourn the love that had never been hers, and to find solace in the knowledge that even in the depths of her sorrow, she was still standing.
She would find her way back to the light, one step at a time.
Azriel:Â
Azriel stood in the hallway outside Y/Nâs room, his heart breaking at the sound of her sobs. Each cry, each ragged breath was a dagger to his soul. He knew he should turn away, give her privacy, but he couldnât force himself to leave. The shadows around him whispered of her pain, amplifying his own guilt and sorrow.
For years, he had watched Y/N from a distance, admiring her strength, her resilience, and the quiet kindness she showed to everyone. He had trained with her, fought alongside her, and in every moment, he had felt his heart tighten with unspoken feelings. He loved herâloved her more than he had ever allowed himself to admit.
But he stayed away. He stayed away because he believed that she deserved better. She deserved someone who wasnât haunted by a past filled with pain and darkness, someone who could give her the happiness and light she brought to everyone around her. He couldnât be that person for her, no matter how much he wished he could.
Elain had been a distraction, a way to convince himself that he could feel something for someone else. But his feelings for Elain had always been platonic, a gentle warmth compared to the burning fire he felt for Y/N. Yet, he saw the way Y/N looked at him when he was with Elain, the pain she tried so hard to hide. It tore him apart, but he couldnât bring himself to change his course.
The door to Y/Nâs room remained closed, but the sounds of her crying seeped through, wrapping around him like chains. He leaned against the wall, his head bowed, his shadows restless.
âYouâre torturing yourself, you know.â
Azriel looked up to see Cassian approaching, his expression a mix of concern and frustration. Cassian had always been perceptive, and Azriel knew he couldnât hide anything from him.
âCassian,â Azriel said quietly, straightening. âWhat are you doing here?â
Cassian crossed his arms, leaning against the opposite wall. âI could ask you the same thing. But I think we both know the answer.â
Azriel sighed, his gaze drifting back to Y/Nâs door. âI canât help it. Hearing her like this... itâs killing me.â
Cassianâs eyes softened. âThen do something about it, Az. Youâre both suffering, and for what? Some misguided belief that youâre not good enough for her?â
Azrielâs jaw tightened, his shadows flickering with agitation. âShe deserves better, Cassian. She deserves someone who isnât... broken.â
Cassian stepped closer, his voice firm but gentle. âYouâre not broken, Azriel. Youâve been through hell, but youâre one of the strongest people I know. And Y/N? She loves you. Anyone can see that.â
Azriel shook his head, his heart aching. âShe deserves happiness. Iâm not sure I can give that to her.â
Cassian placed a hand on Azrielâs shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly. âYou donât have to be perfect to love someone, Az. And Y/N doesnât need perfect. She needs you. Just as you are.â
Azrielâs eyes glistened with unshed tears, his throat tight with emotion. âIâm afraid, Cass. Afraid of hurting her, of not being enough.â
Cassianâs grip tightened. âLove is a risk, Az. But itâs a risk worth taking. Donât let fear keep you from the one person who can make you truly happy.â
Azriel looked back at Y/Nâs door, the sound of her crying still echoing in his ears. He knew Cassian was right, but the fear and self-doubt were overwhelming.
âI donât know if I can,â Azriel whispered, his voice breaking.
Cassian pulled him into a brief, fierce hug. âYou can. And you will. Because you love her, and she loves you. Donât let anything else matter.â
As Cassian stepped back, Azriel nodded slowly, his resolve hardening. But as he turned back to Y/Nâs door, his courage faltered. The weight of his past, the fear of not being enough, pressed down on him like a physical force.
He took a step forward, then another, his hand reaching out toward the door. But as he heard another heartbreaking sob from within, his hand dropped to his side. The shadows around him seemed to tighten, mirroring his inner turmoil.
âI canât,â he murmured, more to himself than to Cassian. âI canât do this to her.â
Before Cassian could respond, Azriel turned and walked away, his heart shattering with each step. He forced himself to keep moving, even as every instinct screamed at him to go back, to hold Y/N and tell her everything.
Cassian watched him go, a look of profound sadness in his eyes. âAz,â he called softly, but Azriel didnât stop.
As Azriel walked away, the sound of Y/Nâs sobs grew fainter, replaced by the deafening silence of his own despair. He had made his choice, and it was one he would have to live with. But the thought of Y/N, alone and hurting, was a pain unlike any other.
And in her room, Y/N cried herself to sleep, the ache in her heart a mirror of the one Azriel carried with him. They were both left in a state of despair, separated by walls and the unspoken words that hung between them like a barrier they couldnât cross.
Azrielâs shadows whispered around him, their murmurs filled with sorrow. He knew he had made a mistake, but for now, he couldnât see a way to fix it. All he could do was keep moving forward, even as his heart begged him to turn back.
Because sometimes, the greatest battles werenât fought on the battlefield, but within the heart. And this was a battle Azriel wasnât sure he could win.

One-Shot: Shadows of Secrets
Summary:Â
Y/N Archeron, gifted with invisibility, secretly listens in on the Night Courtâs plans against Hybern to prove her worth. When she goes missing during the battle, Azriel must find her amid the chaos, leading to a moment of vulnerability and a deepening bond between them.
Word Count: 2306
Warnings: NoneÂ
The shadows were her refuge. Y/N Archeron, the youngest of the Archeron sisters, had been given the giftâor curseâof invisibility when she emerged from the Cauldron. While her sisters had received powers that they wore like armor, Y/Nâs ability was more elusive, more secretive. She could vanish from sight, slip through the cracks, and listen to secrets meant to be kept hidden.
Growing up, Y/N often felt like the forgotten sister. Feyre, Nesta, and Elain were always busy, strong, and capable, while Y/N, being the youngest, was often overlooked. She had been too young to contribute meaningfully to the familyâs struggles, and that feeling of uselessness had stayed with her. But tonight, she was determined to change that. The Night Court was planning their next move against Hybern, and she needed to know how she could help. This was her chance to prove herself.
Slipping into the war room undetected, she positioned herself in a corner, her body fading from view. The room was dimly lit, a large map spread across the table in the center. Rhysand, Cassian, and Azriel stood around it, their expressions grim as they discussed strategies and battle plans.
âWe need to strike quickly and decisively,â Rhysand was saying, his voice filled with authority. âHybernâs forces are on the move, and we canât afford any mistakes.â
Cassian nodded, his arms crossed over his chest. âOur spies have confirmed their movements. We have a narrow window to catch them off guard.â
Azriel, silent and brooding, stood slightly apart from the others, his shadows whispering around him. As Y/N watched, she felt a strange connection to those shadows, as if they were aware of her presence.
Azrielâs eyes narrowed slightly, his head tilting as he listened to the murmurs of his shadows. He knew someone was there, but he said nothing, continuing to discuss plans with Rhysand and Cassian. The meeting dragged on, with detailed discussions and strategic planning. Y/N strained to catch every word, her heart pounding with a mix of excitement and fear.
Finally, Rhysand and Cassian concluded the meeting, their expressions resolute. âWeâll meet again tomorrow to finalize the details,â Rhysand said, rolling up the map. âGet some rest.â
As the others left the room, Azriel lingered, his shadows swirling more restlessly around him. Y/N remained invisible, hoping to slip out unnoticed. But as the door closed behind Rhysand and Cassian, Azriel spoke, his voice cold and commanding.
âShow yourself.â
Y/Nâs heart skipped a beat. She hesitated, but the shadows around her seemed to tighten, pulling her toward visibility. Slowly, she let her invisibility fade, revealing herself in the corner of the room.
Azrielâs eyes narrowed as he took in her appearance. âWhat are you doing here, Y/N?â
She straightened, meeting his gaze with determination. âI wanted to help. Iâve been listening, learning. I want to fight with you against Hybern.â
Azrielâs expression hardened. âSpying on us isnât the way to do that.â
âI wasnât spying,â Y/N protested, her voice rising. âI was trying to understand how I can help.â
Azriel took a step closer, his shadows swirling around her menacingly. âYou could have been caught. You could have been killed. Do you understand how reckless that was?â
Y/N stood her ground, refusing to be intimidated. âI know the risks, Azriel. Iâm not a child. I can handle myself.â
Azrielâs gaze softened slightly, but his voice remained stern. âYou should have come to us directly. Spying, even with good intentions, undermines trust.â
Y/Nâs shoulders sagged slightly. âI didnât want my sisters to know. They have enough to worry about.â
Azrielâs expression softened further, the shadows around him calming. âWe all have our burdens, Y/N. But secrets like this can get you killed. Youâre part of this court, and that means you donât have to do this alone.â
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes filled with determination. âI want to prove myself, Azriel. I want to show that I can be useful, that I can fight.â
Azriel nodded slowly, his eyes reflecting a mix of respect and concern. âThen weâll train you, get you ready for whatâs to come. But no more secrets.â
Y/N nodded, a sense of relief washing over her. âNo more secrets.â
Azriel stepped back, his expression thoughtful. âYou have potential, Y/N. But you need to trust us. Trust me.â
âI do trust you,â Y/N said softly, meeting his gaze. âAnd Iâll prove it.â
As the night wore on, Y/N felt a strange sense of belonging. She was no longer the invisible sister, hiding in the shadows. She was part of the Night Court now, ready to fight alongside them.
And as Azrielâs shadows curled around her, whispering their secrets, she knew that she had found her place. In the heart of the battle, in the midst of the danger, she would stand with them. She would fight for her family, for her home, and for the shadows that had claimed her as their own.
The next few weeks were a whirlwind of training and preparation. Azriel took Y/N under his wing, teaching her the art of stealth and shadow manipulation. Their sessions were intense but rewarding, and Y/N quickly found herself improving. She learned how to move silently, how to blend into her surroundings, and how to use her invisibility to her advantage.
Azrielâs shadows became a constant presence, swirling around them as they trained. They seemed to take a liking to Y/N, often lingering near her even after their sessions ended. She found herself growing fond of the shadows, speaking to them in the same way Azriel did. They responded to her, their whispers soft and affectionate.
One evening, as they finished a particularly grueling training session, Azriel noticed the way his shadows were behaving around Y/N. They twined around her like playful tendrils, almost like puppies seeking attention. He watched with a mix of amusement and curiosity as Y/N spoke to them, her voice soft and soothing.
âYouâve got a way with them,â Azriel remarked, his eyes twinkling with admiration.
Y/N smiled, gently patting one of the shadows. âTheyâre easier to talk to than most people. They listen.â
Azriel chuckled, shaking his head. âThey do seem to have taken a liking to you. Itâs not something they do often.â
As they walked back to the House of Wind, the bond between them grew stronger. They shared stories, laughter, and moments of quiet understanding. Y/N began to see a different side of Azrielâone that was gentle, kind, and fiercely protective. And Azriel found himself opening up to Y/N in ways he hadnât with anyone else.
One day, Feyre found Azriel alone in the library, his shadows dancing around him as he read a report. She approached him quietly, her expression serious.
âAzriel, can we talk?â Feyre asked, her voice soft but firm.
Azriel looked up, nodding. âOf course, Feyre. Whatâs on your mind?â
Feyre took a seat across from him, her eyes searching his. âItâs about Y/N. Iâve noticed how close you two have become. And Iâve seen the way your shadows follow her.â
Azrielâs gaze softened. âSheâs special, Feyre. She has a gift with the shadows, and sheâs become quite skilled. But more than that, sheâs determined to prove herself.â
Feyre nodded, her expression thoughtful. âIâve seen that. But sheâs still my sister, Azriel. I worry about her, especially with the danger weâre facing.â
Azriel leaned forward, his voice earnest. âI understand your concern, Feyre. And I promise you, Iâll keep her safe. I care about her deeply. I wonât let anything happen to her.â
Feyreâs eyes softened, and she reached out to squeeze his hand. âI know you will. Just... be careful. Sheâs been through so much already.â
Azriel nodded, a determined look in his eyes. âI will. You have my word.â
As the days passed, Y/N continued to train with Azriel, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment. The shadows seemed to sense their connection, often wrapping around Y/N protectively. She could communicate with them effortlessly, and they responded to her with a loyalty that mirrored their bond with Azriel.
One evening, as they stood on the balcony overlooking Velaris, Y/N turned to Azriel, her eyes filled with gratitude. âThank you, Azriel. For everything. Iâve never felt more capable, more... needed.â
Azriel smiled, his shadows swirling around them both. âYouâve always been capable, Y/N. You just needed the right opportunity to show it. And youâre more than neededâyouâre invaluable.â
Y/Nâs heart swelled with emotion, and she reached out to take his hand. âI couldnât have done it without you.â
Azrielâs gaze softened, and he squeezed her hand gently. âWeâre a team, Y/N. And Iâm proud to have you by my side.â
As they stood there, the bond between them stronger than ever, Y/N knew that she had found her place. In the heart of the battle, in the midst of the danger, she would stand with Azriel and the Night Court. She would fight for her family, for her home, and for the shadows that had claimed her as their own.
And as the stars twinkled above, she felt a sense of peace and purpose. With Azriel by her side, she knew they could face anythingâtogether.
The day of the battle with Hybern had arrived. The air was thick with tension as the Night Court prepared for the confrontation. Feyre had insisted that Y/N stay behind with Elain, away from the front lines. Despite Y/Nâs protests, Feyreâs concern for her youngest sisterâs safety had won out.
As the armies clashed and the battle raged, Feyre's thoughts kept drifting back to Y/N. She trusted her sister's abilities, but the fear of losing her gnawed at her. When the battle finally ended, the field was littered with the bodies of fallen soldiers. As Feyre surveyed the battlefield, a sense of dread settled in her stomach.
âWhereâs Y/N?â Feyre called out, her voice tinged with worry. She scanned the area, her heart pounding.
Elain, standing nearby, looked around with wide eyes. âShe was with me... but then she disappeared. I thought she was just hiding.â
Panic surged through Feyre, and she immediately turned to Azriel, who was tending to some of the wounded. âAzriel, Y/N is missing. We need to find her.â
Azrielâs eyes widened, and without a word, his shadows sprang into action, darting out in all directions to search for her. His heart raced with worry, but he forced himself to stay calm, knowing that he needed to find her quickly.
âWhere is she?â Azriel muttered to himself, his shadows stretching out further. âFind her. Find Y/N.â
The shadows darted through the forest, guided by their connection to Y/N. They led Azriel to a secluded spot, deep within the woods. As he approached, he saw the aftermath of a fierce battle. Hybern soldiers lay scattered, their lifeless bodies a testament to a brutal fight.
In the center of the carnage, Y/N sat on the ground, her knees drawn to her chest. Her breathing was rapid, her eyes wide with panic. Azrielâs heart clenched at the sight of her distress.
âY/N,â he called softly, approaching her with caution. âItâs me, Azriel. Youâre safe now.â
Y/Nâs eyes flicked up to him, her face pale and her hands trembling. âAzriel, I... I didnât mean to...â
Azriel knelt beside her, his shadows wrapping around them both in a protective cocoon. âItâs okay, Y/N. You did what you had to do.â
She shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. âI killed them, Azriel. I killed so many.â
Azriel gently took her hands in his, his touch grounding her. âYou were defending yourself. Defending us. Itâs normal to feel overwhelmed.â
Y/Nâs breathing hitched, and she clung to him as if he were her lifeline. âI was so scared. I didnât know what else to do.â
Azrielâs heart ached for her, and he pulled her into a tight embrace. âYouâre safe now. Iâm here. Just breathe with me.â
He guided her through slow, deep breaths, his voice soothing and steady. Gradually, her breathing began to calm, the panic in her eyes fading. She rested her head against his chest, finding comfort in the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
âI couldnât stay behind,â Y/N whispered, her voice barely audible. âI needed to help.â
Azriel stroked her hair, his touch gentle and reassuring. âI know, Y/N. And you did help. Youâre incredibly brave.â
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mix of guilt and gratitude. âI just wanted to prove that I could make a difference.â
Azrielâs gaze softened, and he cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing away her tears. âYouâve proven that and more. But you donât have to do it alone. Weâre in this together.â
Y/N nodded, her grip on him tightening. âIâm sorry for worrying you.â
Azriel shook his head, a faint smile on his lips. âJust promise me youâll let us know next time. We need you safe, Y/N.â
She managed a small smile in return. âI promise.â
As they sat there in the quiet forest, surrounded by the aftermath of battle, Azriel held Y/N close, his shadows enveloping them both. He knew that the road ahead would be difficult, but with Y/N by his side, he felt ready to face any challenge.
And as the first rays of dawn broke through the trees, they rose together, hand in hand, ready to return to their family and continue the fight for their home. In each other, they had found strength, trust, and a bond that would carry them through whatever lay ahead.

One-Shot: Blossoms and Shadows
Summary:Â
Nyx now all grown up decides to introduce his new love Y/N to the Night Court.
Word Count: 724
Warnings: NoneÂ
Velaris was as breathtaking as ever, its beauty magnified by the vibrant energy that filled the streets. The House of Wind buzzed with anticipation, its occupants eager for the arrival of Nyx and his guest. Feyre and Rhysand had meticulously prepared the house, ensuring everything was perfect for this significant introduction.
Nyx, now a striking young man with his fatherâs charm and his motherâs fierce determination, was bringing someone special home. The Night Court was ready to welcome her, though they couldnât help but feel a tinge of curiosity and concern. She was from the Spring Courtâa distant cousin of Tamlin.
As the sun set, casting a warm glow over the city, the door to the House of Wind opened. Nyx stepped in, his arm around a beautiful young woman with golden hair and emerald eyes that sparkled with intelligence and warmth.
âEveryone, this is Y/N,â Nyx announced, his voice filled with pride and affection.
Y/N smiled, her gaze sweeping across the gathered members of the Night Court. Feyre and Rhysand stood side by side, their expressions welcoming but scrutinizing. Cassian and Nesta were nearby, Cassianâs eyes twinkling with mischief while Nesta maintained her usual composed demeanor. Azriel and Elain were a little further back, Azrielâs shadows curling protectively around Elain as they watched the newcomers.
âWelcome, Y/N,â Feyre said, stepping forward and offering her hand. âItâs a pleasure to meet you.â
Y/N took Feyreâs hand, her smile warm and genuine. âThank you, Lady Feyre. Itâs an honor to be here.â
Rhysand chuckled, his eyes twinkling. âPlease, call us Feyre and Rhys. No need for formalities among family and friends.â
Nyx squeezed Y/Nâs hand, his eyes full of reassurance. âCome on, letâs sit down. Thereâs so much to talk about.â
As they made their way to the sitting area, Cassian couldnât resist a teasing comment. âYou know, thereâs something about women from the Spring Court always falling for the Night Court. Must be our irresistible charm.â
Y/N laughed, the sound light and musical. âOr maybe itâs because you guys keep saving us from all sorts of trouble.â
The room filled with laughter, the tension easing as everyone settled into comfortable conversation. Y/N shared stories of her life in the Spring Court, her voice animated and engaging. Despite her connection to Tamlin, she spoke with admiration for Nyx and the Night Court, clearly enchanted by their world.
As the evening progressed, Y/N found herself in a deeper conversation with Feyre and Rhysand, while Nyx was pulled aside by Cassian and Azriel.
âLooks like youâve found yourself quite the match,â Cassian said, clapping Nyx on the back.
Nyx smiled, his eyes following Y/Nâs every move. âSheâs amazing, isnât she?â
Azriel nodded, his expression thoughtful. âShe seems to handle herself well. And sheâs clearly smitten with you.â
Nyxâs smile widened. âIâm smitten with her too. Sheâs different from anyone Iâve ever met.â
Cassianâs eyes sparkled with amusement. âJust remember, weâll always have your back. But weâll also keep an eye on herâSpring Court connections and all.â
Nyx laughed, appreciating his uncles' protectiveness. âI wouldnât expect anything less.â
Meanwhile, Y/N was sharing a moment with Feyre, who couldnât help but notice the young womanâs genuine affection for her son.
âYou seem to care for Nyx a great deal,â Feyre said softly.
Y/N met Feyreâs gaze, her eyes earnest. âI do. Heâs everything to me. I know our courts have a complicated history, but I believe we can build something beautiful together.â
Feyre smiled, reaching out to squeeze Y/Nâs hand. âI believe that too. Welcome to the family, Y/N.â
As the night wore on, the bonds between Y/N and the Night Court members strengthened, the initial wariness giving way to acceptance and warmth. Nyx and Y/N stood on the balcony, looking out over the city, their hands intertwined.
âThis feels like a dream,â Y/N whispered, leaning into Nyxâs embrace.
Nyx kissed her forehead, his heart full. âItâs our reality now. And weâll face whatever comes our way together.â
Y/N looked up at him, her eyes shining with love. âTogether.â
And so, under the starry night sky of Velaris, the Night Court welcomed a new member into their fold, proving once again that love could blossom even in the most unexpected of places.
