Whatever you do don’t think about little baby Kenta scraping his knee or getting a small injury and going to Pete, bawling his eyes out begging for comfort and a hug. Don’t think about little Kenta sniffling and smiling up at Pete as he tells him a joke to make him feel better, as he bandages Kenta and hugs him. Don’t think about Pete watching as Kenta begins to pull away, as Tony begins to leave even worse injuries on Kenta’s skin that he hides from Pete, as Kenta stops crying in front of Pete, stops laughing with him, nearly stops smiling. Don’t think about Pete’s despair as he realizes how Tony has beat the emotions out of Kenta, has molded him into something barely human, into a tool. Don’t think about Pete’s hope that the little Kenta that he once made laugh and comforted is still in there, and his resigned decision to leave him behind while Kenta stays stubbornly loyal to Tony. Don’t think about how Pete sees Kenta and regrets nearly every choice he made when it came to him. How he looks at Kenta and instead of seeing a grown man he sees that little boy, looking up at him with tears in his eyes, begging for comfort. The guilt he feels for failing to protect him. Don’t think about how Pete’s guilt causes him to treat Kenta as that precious child he wishes he could have protected, how he regresses Kenta in his own mind to cope with his failures. How he’s still failing him now and he sub-consciously knows it. How he scolds Kenta and treats him like a child because he’s trying to protect the little boy he still sees Kenta as, the last happy memories of his sunny little smiles.

Now don’t think about Kim, who is the only one to see Kenta as a fully autonomous human person. Who understands Kenta is responsible for his own actions. Who pushes Kenta to do better. Who believes Kenta can change and evolve. Who is not stuck in a past that can never be again but is living and seeing Kenta in this current moment. Kim who is peripherally aware of Kenta’s dark past, of his hurts, his mistakes, but doesn’t dwell on them. Kim who believes there is a future for Kenta if he’ll only try, if he’ll accept help, if he’ll only learn to value himself and that possible future. Kim who can love Kenta as a whole person, as more than relic of past mistakes.

3) ALSO why on earth would Ao3 get rid of entire fandoms off the site? Even if they WERE inactive? Who knows if others will be ‘late’ to the fandom and want some fic to read. Who knows if someone wants to come back to their 6 year old account only to find most of their fics deleted.

I’m lucky to be a reasonable adult who has seen tricks like these who also had a very kind person comment their own doubts.

Kim validating kenta's feelings of urgency and agreeing to drive him to Pete. No one has ever done that for kenta before, he's always just had to follow orders and disregard his own thoughts and feelings

kenta is a trained killer who kidnapped kim and threatened his life more than once and kim is just. dragging him and shaking him around. like a kitten held by the scruff of his neck

Why does Dean get welcomed back so easily, but Kenta isn't given a second chance?

Kenta suffered the same abuse Babe, Charlie, Jeff (and Way and Pete) did, and for far longer, and he was the one that finally stood up to Tony for all of them. They all floated around the idea that they are family, and now they're leaving Kenta alone and mis-trusted, after forgiving Way for heinous crimes and letting Dean back into their circle after he tried to kill Babe.

Why is Kenta not embraced? Why isn't he given the same kindness that Way -- who worked just as closely with Tony to hurt Babe! -- is celebrated and mourned and re-absorbed into the family?

I understand the plot reasons for it, but it is really pissing me off.
