It's not about the ship.

A majority of us BKDKs never believed the ship would become canon. That was never really on the table.

What it is about, is 10 years of character and relationship development completely nuked for the establishment of a different relationship that had faded into the background at best for a lot of that time.

Izuku and Katsuki are important to one another. There's zero denying that. Katsuki died for Izuku. All of his scars come from protecting Izuku in one way or another. Katsuki was devastated when he learned of OFA's loss. He worked for eight years to make sure Izuku could live out his dream.

Izuku has looked up to Katsuki since they were children. He lost the plot multiple times when Katsuki was insulted or in trouble. Shigraki himself said Katsuki was closer to Izuku than anyone else.

And all of that development brought us zero discussions about what they've been through. No talk about the impact of Katsuki's death. No talk of Katsuki's apology. No talk about Izuku's feelings about the demise of his dream. Instead, we got Izuku rejecting the idea of being partners with Katsuki, something his character for the entirety of the series would have undoubtedly loved.

Yes, people can grow apart. But show me that. Give me background on why. Give me something, anything that would explain why the Izuku at the end of the epilogue is in diametric contrast to the Izuku we saw at the end of chapter 430.

These two characters mean so much to me. I don't see myself in their story, but the love (whether platonic or otherwise) and care that they show for each other speaks to me so deeply. Katsuki's growth as a person and Izuku's acceptance of and willingness to forgive Katsuki no matter what speaks to me so deeply, and to see that thrown away stings.

It's not about the ship. It was never really about the ship.

Can I ask the BNHA fic writers a favor... I have this idea in my head so the song Goddess by Laufey right right stay with me. Pro hero Izuku just recently divorced stumbles upon a new and very popular hero (reader) and the stuff in the song just kinda happens. He had this whole idea and image of them and that how they were but that's not how they truly are as a genuine human being and not for show as a hero. Or at least something between those lines. It's crazy and depressing but also good

I have a theory. I'm just spitballing so if the movies are Canon and hear me out what if OFA laid dormant in bakugo? His eyes at the end of chapter 403!? I could be wrong it's early in the morning but to me it looks like it did in the movie when they both shared OFA. Again I could be wrong. People can tell me no but I'm just spitballing. You were exhausted, couldn’t even bring yourself to leave the comfort of your shared bed if you tried.

Your body was bruised and battered; though it only showed how much work you had put in, how much time you had given to get to where you are.

The days were long, and the weeks even longer, and as hard as they came, you pushed even harder to meet the end.

“you thinking about leavin the bed anytime soon sugar, breakfast will get cold,” you heard his soft voice call to you.

You pulled the sheets off from over your head, tired eyes meeting those oceanic blues, “I feel like i’ve been beaten with a rod over and over Buck, I don’t think i can leave the bed today.”

A smile though small kisses the corner of his lips, “that’s alright, you hold tight, i know just the thing.”

You go to question him, but he’s disappearing from the frame of the door all too quickly before you can even get the words out. Any other day and you might have found the strength to tiptoe after him, but your body screamed at you for even the slightest movement.

It’s not long before you can hear the telltale sign of clatter in the kitchen, and though your brows furrow in question you have no idea what the man in question is getting up to.

“bucky, sweetheart what are you doing,” you call out, your body wanting to turn itself in bed, but limbs weak.

“give me a second sweet girl, i’ll be in there soon!”

Its a minute maybe two later when you hear the soft pad of his feet, the soft scrape of porcelain on porcelain, and though it pains you to turn, you find yourself rolling onto your side.

A pained groan leaves your lips at the same time Bucky appears in the doorway with a tray of the breakfast he likely had laid out for the two of you.

His eyes are on yours, lips turned up in a somewhat smile, “never could wait for a surprise could you sugar?”

A small smile pulls at the corners of your mouth, “well when you tell me to hold tight and then disappear rather than crawl into bed with me a girl can’t help but to worry what you’re up to barnes.”

A grin spreads his lips, as he moves forward with the tray of food in his hands, “you really would have preferred me just staying in bed with you,” he questioned as he placed the tray down on the night stand.

“Not that I’m opposed to breakfast in bed, but if I had the choice between you or breakfast I would have chosen you in an instant.”

His smile grows as he pulls back the sheets his body sliding in with yours, his warm hands sending you onto your back as he closes in.

“I think we can manage giving you both.”

Girl you don't understand I have the WORST fear of dentists. 😭😭 I have a calcium deficiency that shows in my teeth that I never grew out of and I have stains on my teeth. It's one of my biggest insecurities that I have and to go to a new dentist scares me because I feel like im treated like a science experiment. Having this makes my day!!

A/n: A cute being supportive buckey during your dentist visit for our comfort drabbles! Prompt will be bolded!

Request: Hi lovely! For the comfort drabbles may i request “I’ll stay right here, okay?” about the reader going to the dentist just for something small like a filling or cleaning but they have built it up in their head for the past week? Maybe Bucky stays in the room the whole time sitting across from them and giving them words of encouragement and after their done saying how proud of them he is? I have a dentist appointment soon and could use some comfort 😅

It felt silly.

And maybe it was silly to a person on the outside looking in, but you couldn’t exactly shake off the nerves.

You weren’t a fan of dentist visits; sure, sitting in a chair for a check-up you could do, but fillings, root canals, wisdom teeth removal, that’s where you felt you might have to draw a line, a big fat NO thank you.

And this is where you couldn’t understand that underlying fear, these were trained professionals, they had a degree in cleaning people’s teeth!

So why would you get so worked up at the thought of anything else other than a check-up, why were you so wound up over a filing?

“Stop thinking about it sugar, you’re gonna work yourself into another panic, relax it’ll do you no good going in tense.”

You tore your eyes away from the tank of fish to meet his eyes, he met you with a warm smile and en even warmer gaze.

“I’m being ridiculous aren’t I,” you murmured sinking into the chair a little.

Bucky’s smile tugged at his lips, “you’re not being ridiculous, and it’s definitely not silly, nobody comes to the dentist for a good time sweetheart, unless you’re a dentist I would assume.”

You blew out a puff of air, “but I just don’t get it Buck, I can do check-ups and cleanings, what’s so different about a filling,” you questioned biting the inside of your cheek as you watched the door to the back rooms.

Bucky seems to mull it over, his hand finding yours as he squeezes, “well there’s more than likely a lot of things different about fillings sweetheart that are definitely not done during check-ups or cleanings so it’s okay to feel nervous, to feel anxious, for one you have to sit a little longer, and you’re not in and out as quickly as you would be if it were the other two.”

You nod your head, squeezing his hand back, “hey,” he calls drawing your attention, “just remember that you’re in good hands, the doc said it would take no more than 10 minutes to get that tooth filled just close your eyes, breathe, and it’ll be done before you know.”

You sucked in a breath, “I can’t thank you enough for coming with me, you honestly didn’t have to, like I said it’s silly, I should be able to come in alone.”

Bucky offers you a bright smile, “there’s no where else I’d rather be, if my girl needs me, then she needs me, doesn’t matter what you need me for I’ll stay right here okay?”

You didn’t know how you got so lucky with him, with Bucky, he was there in every way for you, the task in which you needed him was never to big or to small.

Bucky tugged you closer into his side, his arm falling over your shoulder as he pressed a kiss to the side of your head, “you’ve got this babe, you’ll see you’re braver than you know.”

It wasn’t long after that the door to the backrooms was squeaking open, a nurse peeking out a bright smile on her face, “y/n, we’re ready for you.”

Bucky squeezed your arm comfortingly before he pushed you up, “you’ve got this sweetheart, remember ten minutes and then we’re out, I’ll be there the whole time holding your hand, I’m going to stay right by your side, I’ll stay with you the entire time, you ready?”

Meeting his ocean greys dotted with baby blue, for the first time in a while you did feel ready, “I’m ready.”

He grinned brightly, “that’s my girl, let’s get you in there.”

What was supposed to be ten minutes was cut in half, and all because of the man who was there when you needed him.
