"Elytra" is not just a made-up word used for an item in Minecraft. The word refers to the hard covers that protect the wings of flying beetles. Thus, I introduce another Minecraft headcanon: the true function of elytra.

Visually, imagine if having the elytra equipped supported magically-developed wings emerging from the player to come out for the purpose of gliding. This could look like a beetle's elytra, with barely-visible magic wings emerging from the player's back below doing the actual gliding work before disappearing once the elytra "closes" for diving or as the player lands.

The magic is always there though. The programming for those wings is written into a player's very code. The elytra coaxes it to the surface.

The magical self-developed wings that emerge from the character could be unique from individual to individual. Players could sport the glimmering outline of feathers, opalescent insect wings, bat wings, or dragonesque wings, to name some possibilities.

Circumstances have placed me in an odd set of locations for Art Fight, so some of my Art Fight attack ideas are as follows. ( I am on Team Fossil, and I will be adding my Art Fight profile to this post. )

Written pieces about characters placed in a museum setting ( perhaps with drawings, depending on the availability of technology to me )

Characters melded with famous fossils or placed in similar poses to said fossils, with the fossil in the background or beside/overlayed with reduced opacity for reference.

Characters preserved in amber

Character objects depicted as relics in a museum or waiting to be discovered

Fossils depicted to be haunted by the spirit of a character

Mermaid character’s bones hung from ceiling in a museum or mansion depending on lore

Bones/fossils of character drawn beneath the ground with a tree or other plant seeming to grow from them

Characters swimming in the ocean depicted with a light shining upon a large fossil inlaid into ocean rock

Written character analysis of characters, comparing them to certain fossils, extinct species, and relics

Dragon characters’ fossils depicted by using images of actual dinosaur fossils as a base/reference. ( edited, so as to not plagiarize, with wings or body length in addition to assorted relevant features. )

Working on one of my original species for Art Fight. I introduce the WIP concept of Mrrvyns.

Mrrvyns are a furred species with insect-like anatomy.

They have ‘mandibles’ on their faces that connect to internal cavities by their jawbones that allow them to make additional sounds apart from those permitted by their vocal chords. Movement of these mandibles triggers movement within the cavity that results in the sounds.

They have fluffy bodies and large ears which adapted to resemble the large species of Lepidoptera on their planet. Different types of Mrrvyn can resemble different species of Lepidoptera in terms of their “wing” pattern and color. Cavern-dwelling Mrrvyns tend to have ears that are thinner and pushed closer to their craniums.

Mrrvyns also have tails that resemble caterpillars or beetle larva. They are often large and fluffy, though Mrrvyns that dwell in caverns can also have furless or smooth tails that resemble worms or maggots.

Mrrvyns also have antennae that allow them to sense pheromones in the air. They can sense the pheromones of their planet’s insects, allowing them to avoid hostile bugs. Cavern-dwelling Mrrvyns, as a subspecies, tend to have extensions that function more like whiskers instead, allowing them to sense vibrations and width with precision in narrow tunnels. Thus, those appendages tend to be long, flexible, and durable.

Mrrvyns can have various colors and patterns, though the cavern-dwelling Mrrvyns tend to have base colors resembling soil, gemstones, bones, or stones. Most non-cavernous Mrrvyns have bright colors resembling bugs, the luscious landscape, or even the sky.

Non-cavernous Mrrvyns ( like the one in the sketch below ) often have little wings on their backs. They can extend from slits in their backs and allow them to glide from nest to nest with efficiency. Cavernous Mrrvyns, instead of wings, have a natural armor that resembles exoskeletons.

Mrrvyns keep some species of insect as pets or messengers. They keep messenger bugs and elicit various pheromone responses from them to deliver messages across distances. They also train certain species to deliver messages across larger distances by travelling, much like messenger pigeons.

Their insect-like anatomy was adapted to assist them in stealing insect eggs to eat, and with mimicking poisonous species of insect to avoid predation. Their diets consist of primarily insect eggs, fruit, flowers, nectar, and plant byproducts. Cavern-dwelling Mrrvyns have a more carnivorous approach. They will, on occasion, attack large carnivorous worm and boring beetle species to eat them. Though they also consume eggs, roots, and accumulations of mold.

Mrrvyns have proboscis-like extensions within their mouths that they use much like straws while drinking, which guards their teeth from sugar-rot. They closely resemble moth, butterfly, and bee proboscis appendages. Cavernous Mrrvyns have smaller, sharper ones that allow them to drill into the rock-like external body of various underground species and their eggs.

Mrrvyns above ground have four eyes, though Mrrvyns below ground are blind in two of them, and have them only vestigially.

What would the Vigilantes characters be like in the MHA fantasy AUs? Ingenium would obviously be a knight, both of the Iida brothers would. I feel like Koichi would be that universe's equivalent of a vigilante, doing work of knights and city guard outside of the king/emperor's employment. Popstep would be a bard vigilante, and Knuckleduster would be fighter class.

For that matter, what about the movie characters? I feel that Melissa Shield would be an artificer working in another kingdom, in a special space for artificers, a floating island city dedicated to honing their craft.

Rody would be the captain of a ship, perhaps, with Pino as his familiar. In the steampunk AU, he would be the pilot-in-training of a flying ship.

I feel that the interpretations are pretty straightforward for Mr. Guilio and Ms. Anna. Nobility and butler/bodyguard/medic. Perhaps Guilio was caring for her with potions as she had contracted an illness/curse caused by her own magic.

"A Voice from Gaza… A Cry for Help"

Hello, I’m Saja from Gaza 🇵🇸💔 I’m writing to you today during one of the hardest moments of my life… For months, we’ve been living under the fire of war 💣. The bombing never stops, and death follows us everywhere 🕊️. Destruction has become a daily scene in our lives 🏚️.

But war is not our only enemy… Prices have skyrocketed 💸🔥, and everything has become unaffordable. A loaf of bread 🍞, a box of milk 🥛, a bottle of water 🚰… have all become distant dreams. Even the most basic needs are no longer within reach. We survive on so little, trying to hold on despite the pain 😔.

My home is no longer the same 🏠❌, our lives have changed, and safety has vanished. My children no longer know peaceful sleep or full meals 🛏️🍽️. Every day brings a new danger, and every night we pray just to survive one more day 🙏.

This is a picture of my home after the bombing… Our dreams turned to rubble. 🧱💔

Hermitcraft Madagascar AU with Mumbo Jumbo as a penguin, PearlescentMoon as an otter or wolf, UndeadCleo as a badger or kangaroo, Aardvark TangoTek, Ethoslab as a white tiger, Parrot Grian, and GoodTimesWithScar as a stressed zookeeper attempting to recapture the rescued animals.

Though with the Hermit Exile Arc I can also see this as the Poe Poe members all being the zookeepers whilst everyone else is having their Madagascar moments, with Mumbo Jumbo as a capybara or penguin hybrid sitting in front of a bunch of fans, staring at them in utter fascination.
