Stopover in Beijing on the way home, came across this beautiful place! We spent the rest of the afternoon hiking around. Who knew there could be a lake and garden high in the middle of a mountain, seriously beats me! I know next to nothing about geological science. 香山(fragrant mountain) it’s called, seriously beautiful place. That oooooooor I was enthusiastic about going there given the name of the garden: albeit from the second character (宜) being different in Chinese, the English (ig?) pronunciation is identical to my name 🙃

Said lake. and my favourite shirt! I could have sworn I saw that the other day, but must have gotten lost in someone else’s laundry. I ain’t done looking for it yet though!

Ah, the harbingers of spring! Blossoms unfurling their wings, precariously perched on dwindling branches, reaching towards the distant sky.

and the harbingers of my intense hayfever 🫠

Turns out that half on hour’s trip on bullet train from Xi An can get you to 化山, so we figured it’d be sweet if we went on a trip there!

I swore I’d seen the exact same flowers (plum blossoms) near 长城 last year, well apparently they’re coloured different so they’ve got to be a different kind? Who knows, I’m currently convinced they’re peach blossoms, 🌸 change my mind haha 🌸 peach blossom your ass it’s a Sakura flower

well the petals are round-edged, it’s gotta be different. Discuss.

moving on from that debate, the trip was great! We had somehow managed to climb all five peaks within a single day. Not to mention, we also got kinda lost, and ended up having to sprint up an entire cliff to catch up with the group 🥲

By the end, our legs were shaking like marbles when you roll them around in a bucket. Legs aren’t even round lmaooo
