Pretty much one year after one of my earliest posts! These tree-growing pink flowers bloom only once per year during winter — I tend to savour the soft rays of the setting sun illuminating their petals; branches outstretched in feverent prayer.

Aih gat one hell of a story behind this one! Kinda freestyled the recipe :D

So I may have put a pic of this really aesthetic lookin ahh peach cake on here before, this is kind of? Along the lines of that recipe. And a few other recipes. HOwEvAh, it does not happen to be peach season atm, given it’s hella cold in Australia. Kinda regrettable, considering I’d already started the cake ;-;

So it happened to be grape season, had to sprint down to the nearest Toscano’s to buy a bunch (and thick cream from woolies while I was at it) and I’d figured I’d just replace the peaches in that recipe with straight up grapes. Intended to use green grapes instead, but hey! Purple worked out hella fine too :)

ran outta cream for the lightly coloured midsection at some point, so I panicked and mixed some yoghurt in, poured a shite loadda gelatin in there too. Oh I did get that from woolies. It worked out surprisingly well, ube-colour ahh half-section mah beloved

found random flowers in our garden in a hurry cuz the guests were coming soon, picked em out in the dark, and ran back home with em, they turned out to be honeysuckle! Biggest stroke of luck thus far, didn’t even know we had em! And the cream I wanted to save for the scones, but figured this was more important. So yeah! Local Asian kid attempts to garnish a cake armed with like eight grapes, a half finished tub a’ thick cream, a bouquet of flowers from the veg patch and a valiant teaspoon 🥄😃👍

For the base I had to find a separate recipe for straight up sponge cake, overheated my math brain to figure out the proportions

good thing we had winter break

Type shit chaos I literally thrived in throughout the whole process (five hours give or take)

worth it though :)

Oh and also, honeysuckle symbolizes true happiness, sweetness, and used to reminisce good memories 🌼
