[š¾] autaromantic + autasexual !!!
.*āā
; autasexual, autaromantic, autaaroace: autasexual and autaromantic were coined by @genderlofiā, their definitions are:
.*āā
; autasexual: when someone isn't sure if they're asexual or not due to autism making attraction confusing or asexuality modified by autism in some wayĀ
.*āā
; autaromantic: when someone isn't sure if they're aromantic or not due to autism making attraction confusing or aromanticism modified by autism in some way.
autaaroace is simply for when you are both of the above.
.*āā
; im not a huge fan of the original flags because of the autasexual flagās resemblance to the nby flag and the confusion that causes. i use these terms extremely frequently so i thought itād be nice to make some flags i feel more comfortable using :)
ORIGINAL COINING POST
.*āā
; autasexual flag meaning: black, purple, white and grey from the asexual flag, orange and yellow for levels of ambiguity, and red for autism. autism symbol also for autism.
.*āā
; autaromantic flag meaning: greens and grey from the aromantic flag, orange, yellow and creme for levels of ambiguity, and red for autism. autism symbol also for autism.
.*āā

As a reminder: libraries, museums, zoos, etc are NOT brand accounts! As an example, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Tumblr is very cool & they support ocean conservation and education! I believe the National Archives and Smithsonian Libraries are also around here somewhere. Support public institutions!

Adding on to the recent neogender/xenogender discourse, I feel that people don't talk enough about the fact that gender umbrellas can overlap a lot, and that acknowledging that xenogender and other neogender umbrellas are different doesn't mean that terms can't be used in a xenine way
You're oddcoric in a xenine way? Cool.
You're oddcoric in a kenine way? Cool.
You're oddcoric in a gender umbrella that the term isn't typically used for? Cool.
I think that people on both sides of the debate fail to realize that distinguishing different umbrellas from xenogender doesn't mean that we have to disown or shrink xenogender's place as an umbrella term, and that labels can be very subjective and not overly strict and categorized.
(feel free to correct me on this if I'm just being dumb, but don't take it as an invitation to start shit with me.)

already got a blazed marvel post. the adpocalypse is closer than we think so heres your daily PSA
don't interact with corporate tumblr accounts
yes even to dunk on them. i don't care if you have the sickest burn of the century lined up, don't even give them the time of day
the eventual and inevitable fall of twitter marks a change in the advertising industry, and tumblr is unclaimed territory. if we want tumblr to remain the social media bastion it has become, it needs to remain as unappealing to corporations as possible. do not engage. in a marketing strategist's eyes, any kind of attention is good attention. don't "silence, brand" them. don't kungpowpenis them. don't send them hate anons. don't hate-follow them. corporate tumblrs are not a single entity and they will not be harassed off this site. we only have a shot at repelling them because of tumblr's lack of an algorithm. so turn off recommended posts on your dashboard, put it chronological order, and install an adblocker. if you don't seek out these blazed posts and actively ignore them when they happen upon you, the corporations will starve. in this case, the best kind of protest is a silent one

Iām watching that documentary āBefore Stonewallā about gay history pre-1969, and uncovered something which I think is interesting.
The documentary includes a brief clip of a 1954 televised newscast about the rise of homosexuality. The host of the program interviewed psychologists, a police officer, and one āknown homosexualā. The āknown homosexualā is 22 years old. He identifies himself as Curtis White, which is a pseudonym; his name is actually Dale Olson.
So I tracked down the newscast. According to what I can find, Dale Olson may have been the first gay man to appear openly on television and defend his sexual orientation. He explains that thereās nothing wrong with him mentally and heās never been arrested. When asked whether heād take a cure if it existed, he says no. When asked whether his family knows heās gay, he says that they didnāt up until tonight, but he guesses theyāre going to find out, and heāll probably be fired from his job as well. So of course the host is like ā¦why are you doing this interview then? and Dale Olson, cool as cucumber pie, says āI think that this way I can be a little useful to someone besides myself.ā
1954. 22 years old. Balls of pure titanium.
Despite the pseudonym, Daleās boss did indeed recognize him from the TV program, and he was promptly fired the next day. He wrote into ONE magazine six months later to reassure readers that he had gotten a new job at a higher salary.
Curious about what became of him, I looked into his life a little further. It turns out that he ultimately became a very successful publicity agent. He promoted the Rocky movies and Superman. Not only that, but get this: Dale represented Rock Hudson, and he was the person who convinced him to disclose that he had AIDS! He wrote the statement Rock read. And as we know, Rock Hudsonās disclosure had a very significant effect on the national conversation about AIDS in the U.S.
It appears that no one has made the connection between Dale Olson the publicity agent instrumental in the AIDS debate and Dale Olson the 22-year-old first openly gay man on TV. So I thought Iād make it. For Pride month, an unsung gay hero.

how many times are intersex people going to have to remind you all to stop throwing us under the bus. when i see dyadic trans people say shit like āno kids are ever prescribed hormones/have surgeryā youāre ignoring the hundreds of intersex kids every year who are forced into ānormalizing treatmentsā because the idea of letting kids exist outside the sex binary is something doctors refuse to let happen. doctors and legislators are both incredibly interested in controlling our bodily autonomy as both trans and intersex peopleāthey donāt want any of us to have the freedom to live authentically as ourselves. for trans people, that shows up like restricting access to gender affirming care. for intersex people, that looks like non consensual surgery and hormones that is often times used almost like conversion therapy, especially if youāre both trans and intersex. yāall CANNOT forget about us when youāre calling out transphobia, because I promise you that the transphobes have not forgot about us, as almost every single transphobic bill about restricting gender affirming care in the United States has also left explicit provisions to ensure that intersex genital mutilation and nonconsensual hormone therapy can continue. Dyadic trans people, you really should be able to understand why doctors denying people the ability to live as their authentic self without coercion is a problem, and you all NEED to stop acting like our fights for bodily autonomy are in conflict when in reality, it is two sides of the same coin.
okay to reblog

I might not be perfect, I definitely donāt have all of the answers, and Iām not all the way there yet but Iām getting there.
And thatās what matters. Thatās what Iām most proud of.
I can only be as good as I can allow myself.
I am better than I was last year, and next year I will be better then I am right now.
I deserve to be happy. To dance. To laugh,
I deserve whatās to come, and I will stick around long enough to see it.
I am here and I am okay.

i feel kind of bugged out by umbrellas that are like "any gender outside of x" because i feel like the more things that are coined that create more categories, the less these descriptions work, and the more they shrink
like, one of the definitions of xenogender (which, btw, i don't really support wikis changing the original definition of xenogender, even if i don't like that one too much either, bc it's still rude to the coiner idk) is "any gender outside of male female neutral androgynous and outherine" (or something like that) and to that i say.... first of all that is clumping a LOT of things together that aren't necessarily related, and then secondly...
when people start making shit like lumenoir, luxine, kenochoric, aetherine, etc., and placing them alongside male, female, neutral, etc., the response is either putting it under xenogender (which a lot of these coiners don't want), OR now the definition of xenogender is "any gender outside of male female neutral androgynous outherine kenochoric luxine lumenoir mortelum aetherine rosenion etc etc" and to me it just feels like that will shrink the xenogender label over time
so when they're COINED they might make sense, but i think in the long run having these kinds of definitions can be very damaging. with a term like "nonbinary" it makes sense because it's outside of the extremely widespead and not-changing-any-time-soon gender binary of male and female, but outside of that, especially with neogenders, it's something that i think has just been causing more and more conflict. people see xenogender in a set way that in the long-run either tries to include terms that don't fit, OR that inevitably shrinks the labels' scope over time
idk where i'm going with this, just something that's been on my mind tbh

[id: screenshots of tiktok captions. the images say, ābut the only reason we still love princess diana is because she did not have the time to disappoint us.ā]
begging queer kids to read up on princess dianaās involvement with the community. yes, she was a rich, pretty monarch. yes, she died young.
but the reason why queer people love her is because she used her privilege during the aids crisis to advocate for sick queer men, when very few others would - much less someone of her status.
diana spent years advocating for the health and care of queer people with hiv/aids. in 1987, at the height of the epidemic, she opened the first specialist clinic dedicated to treating aids patients (the first clinic of itās kind in the uk).
she also fought public hysteria by hugging and shaking bare hands with aids patients, at a time when aids was thought to be spread by skin to skin contact. not only that, she visited patients in the clinic regularly and even comforted them through their sickness.
and when queen elizabeth told her to try focusing on āsomething more pleasantā?
diana ignored her and kept fighting.
and this is only her work towards the aids crisis. she publicly called out the royal family, brought attention to numerous world issues, and was known as an advocate for empathy and kindness. sheās known and loved as the peopleās princess for good reason
