Twitter Fandom Rant post (ignore if you want)
I genuinely hate twt because i make one tweet about how kinning characters for surface level traits is stupid and they tell me to "go outside" "get a job" "who cares people are dying" in the quote retweets.
As if on that account, I wasn't actively and consistently reposting palenstine stuff, as if I didn't have free palenstine in my name. Apparently people aren't allowed to have an opinion on the internet about other things. Besides, if you don't agree with someone's opinion ignore it, why be so rude like that?
Besides the post was directed towards the bsdtwt fandom, primarly talking about how complex, nuanced, and deep characters are only kinned because of one single trait which causes immense mischaracterization of the character. Causing the character to be watered down and a general misunderstanding of said character. Kinning characters like Dazai only because he's suicidal is stupid imo because he's more than that, he's not just a "quicky suicidal man uwu". He has character, he nuance, he has depth to him.
I was NOT saying you're not allowed to kin characters, that is not what I was saying at all. I just simply asking people to look more into the characters they claim to kin if it's a complex character with depth, that is incredibly well written.
I was simply asking people to see the complexity of characters and people say shit like that. But what to expect, twitter sucks.
(not to mention, I love how most of the people who were from bsdtwt knew what I was talking about and was annoyed. It was just people from other fandoms that were attacking me and upset)

Dazai literally spends most of Stormbringer lying. He lies to Verlaine about wanting Chuuya gone and the mafia dead to betray him. He lies to Adam and Chuuya about wanting to wait for Chuuya to be tortured when he finds out he isnt with Adam already. He lies to Chuuya about looking for his records so he can turn him into his maid. He lies and he lies and he lies. You know who else lies? N. Dazai literally says N is a lying liar who lies and tells Adam he knows Chuuya is human because N said he isnt and N is a liar. And when Adam asks how he is sure N lied Dazai says a good liar lies about his motives with no reason to really lie.
And then Dazai says that he planned everything implying he caused the deaths of the flags and murase and Adam is all "Gasp! You betrayed Chuuya!!" But Chuuya is smart as hell and never once accuses Dazai of that and given how he reacted to Verlaine dropping Lippman's body you'd think Chuuya would gut Dazai like a fish where he stood. But he DIDN'T. Because he knew Dazai was lying. He knows Dazai is a lying liar who lies. And Dazai always lies about his perfect plans going perfectly even when he fucks up cause lord forbid people find out he failed at something he is supposed to be good at. And at the end of the day Dazai projected on N and knew N was a liar because he himself constantly lies about his own self even when he probably shouldn't.

a character is more than surface level traits. they are more than anger and more than manipulativeness, instead of disliking them with all your heart for these traits. maybe you should explore the depth of these traits and find where they stem from. maybe then you can find out wheather you truly dislike them or not.

People who headcanon that Mori SA'd Dazai are weeeeiiiiirdddd
Not only does that contradict everything we know about Mori and his relationship with Dazai, why do you want that to have happened. At some point or another it just becomes torture porn.

thoughts on the abuse chain in bsd?
It's a thing for sure but the fandom doesn't really know how to deal with it properly. Yes Mori-Dazai-Akutagawa is a good area to study the cycle however nobody is particularly interested in really looking at Mori from a lens of a man who may have had negative experiences himself, always placing him at the start of the cycle like the man popped out of the womb an abusive asshole. There are also a lot of areas where the cycle is broken like with Atsushi, and Chuuya. Circumstances are a big factor in bsd, nobody is inherently bad, including Mori.

The double standard in this fandom is insane, istg fans are never sastified with anything they get lately (esp with the newest chapter, but I won't get too into it). Be grateful, it's not that hard. If they see Chuuya as an individual character, they make a fuss and call it fanservice and if they see skk together, they call Chuuya just an extention of Dazai. They are never satified with what they get and keep bitch and moaning about it, is this fandom just filled with babies? Why can't they just make sense. Man, it's frustrating.
when you realise the Fyodor stans aren't mad that Meursault ended the way it did because it's badly written or anything and more because they set up the guy on a pedestal as "Dazai's greatest rival" and therefore little old Chuuya with his one note traits like his caveman anger, non existent impulse control and pea sized brain clearly cannot be the one to beat the Great Fyodor.
Sorry that Chuuya didn't ooga booga around Meursault, unfortunately he happens to be ridiculously smart and good at making people think they are in control. The entire set up for Fyodor's downfall being his inability to see people as being unpredictable had been hinted at from the moment Dazai and Fyodor had the waitress conversation.

@lnkedmyheart It just shows in itself how they view chuuya. Probably the same type of ppl that see Chuuya solely as the brawns and not as also the brains of skk. I get they're upset about what happened with their fav but be fr, chuuya was def capable of fooling fyodor as long as fyodor underestimated him as a whole.

Stop calling ships Toxic
I feel as if “toxic” should be removed permanently from the hands of this fandom, because some will see any sort of conflict between two characters and slap that word onto their relationship.
“Soukoku is toxic 😢😢😢 Ranpoe is toxic 😭😭😭”
Please, please, think for like two seconds.
First of all, you cannot apply real world standards onto a fictional relationship, especially when their universe is very different to ours. The BSD equivalent of WW1 took place 15 years ago for them, violence and death are norms within their society. If Atsushi and Akutagawa were regular people in our universe acting like that, it would be a problem, but they aren’t, so we can’t be viewing their relationship through our lenses.
The world of BSD is not black and white and neither are it's characters, and, consequentially; their relationships. Of course there are relationships within the series that are toxic and/or abusive, such as Akutagawa and Dazai's, there's no question about that, but it's still not so simple. There's many layers to each character and relationship within BSD, and if you only ever look at the surface, you just won't understand.

Bsd fans online:“I want to talk about Ougai Mori’s character from bsd but he’s a creep.😐”
Me: “Okay? And? Let’s talk about it-he’s so interesting to me. He said in a character interview that his greatest strength was his kindness- let’s talk about that. He didn’t want to fight Fukuzawa during cannabalism and apologized right before he almost killed his friend. He helped out the ADA by harboring them, giving them maps to escape tunnels, went to the middle of nowhere to pick up Tanizaki and Kenji and brought them back to the city. He’s on the side of the guild and then he isn’t-“
Bsd fandom: “Yeah but he likes children. He’s gross. End of conversation.”
Me: “ quick question. What you think about Chuuya?”
Bsd fandom: “I love him. He gets so upset when Dazia ignores him. He drinks all the time, and cries over Dazia, and spends all time thinking/hanging out with Dazia. He’s a smol angry wine boy. 🍷. Also he drinks a lot.
Also me: “So it’s okay to misinterpret a character and give them one trait bc you only look at characters one dimensionally and that’s why you don’t want to have a conversation about Mori. Also you reduced all the adult female characters to everyone’s mom.”
If you don’t learn how to have conversations outside of safety zone and about topics you don’t like and ready for conversations about
1) don’t bring it and expect everyone to move on
2) don’t attack those of us that do.
(P.S this is about fans just recycling bsd thoughts/opinions that I see all the time. If you don’t want some fans to analyze certain characters then don’t mention them. Also Chuuya being an alcoholic and that’s all he is,- topic for another post. If you have to switch out the word suicide for sewersl1d€ then you aren’t mature enough to talk about Dazai.)

I wonder what needs to happen in canon for soukoku to actually talk for once
Not just banter but actually have a conversation
And im not talking about the one sentence check in thing that we see all the time
I want a full blown conversation for once between them
Like we get all this content but never actual words between them where theyre both talking and gah I really want that

I feel like a lot of bsd characters have been ruined for me because of the fanon verison/fandom's portrayal of them. A lot of people project onto them and that's fine, but it gets to the point that the character is unrecognizable and it's annoying.

i get where you're coming from, the prison arc is dragging waayyy to long and the anime is going way too fast paced and seemed rushed. they're leaving so many scenes out in the anime and the current manga arc feels like it will continue forever. i don't even know what direction the series will go after the arc ends. where will the characters develop? when will the series end? i just have too many questions in my head atp.
Legitimately sick of bsd.
