Entropy (part 6)
content: slow burn ? but not really , hurt/comfort , eventual romance , wlw , kara x reader , reader needs therapy , reader is very socially anxious lmao
word count: 4,243
pair(s): Kara x Fifth Dimensional Imp!Reader, and all the other canon SG couples (Nia and Brainy, Kelly and Alex, etc)
A/N i don't have much to say actually heheh, i just didn't really feel like this part was ready but if anything I'll come back and edit it later:)
part 5
"That's the man Nia saw." Kara pointed to the huge monitor with the image running on the face recognition system.
"That's not... That's not Vandal Savage. I mean their eyes are similar but... That's not the Vandal Savage I know." Barry's statement made Kara's shoulders tense up. He was saying the truth, yet the name was very fitting for the man they were staring at. "Brainy, send me that image and I'll alert everyone in Central City just in case."
"What if..." The coluan mumbled. "This IS Vandal Savage, just, not your vandal savage?" Brainy pointed at Barry who nodded after understanding what he meant.
"How can we know which earth he's from? Lex is gone and he was the one who arranged this earth." Nia chimed in.
"I don't know yet, but I think I can call an... Acquaintance from the 31st century to help me out. Meanwhile there's nothing else we can do." Brainy shifted uncomfortably, only Nia really noted this but she'd ask him about it later.
"Okay... I'll call you guys if anything. Bye." And with that Barry was gone, and so was Kara who didn't even bother to say goodbye. She had a pinching feeling inside her chest telling her to go speak to you about this whole issue. However she was very afraid to, you were just a civilian, right? She couldn't get you in any danger just because of some weird gut feelings.
[>>>]
Streaky behaved really well at the vet clinic, surprisingly well, the vets even thought he might've been to vets before because usually homeless cats tend to be very anxious and wary around strangers, but Streaky was simply napping and complying with the veterinarian that was attending you. He also got a couple vaccines and he got prescribed some supplements to gain the weight he needed. Other than that he was completely healthy and didn't even have a microchip, you made an appointment to get that done soon though.
After a nice trip to the vet you felt relieved and happy, yes the past couple days (and this afternoon) had been very stressful, but after all you felt secure.
Arriving home you decided to set everything down for Streaky, and you also cleaned some things up around the house after realizing how messy everything was when Kara came earlier to eat with you.
"D'you like Kara?" You asked your furry pal as he stared at you from the top of the fridge, a spot you weren't going to question how he reached it. You were washing the dishes and felt bored but you knew it was better to do them immediately before they piled up way too much.
"I think... She's nice. She even helped me get you a name." Streaky meowed, tucking his own paws while laying down to sleep on his now sacred spot. "She acted kinda weird earlier... But I like it when she holds me... Is it weird? Am I the weird one?" You looked again at your cat, he slowly closed his eyes at your stare.
"C'mon I'm not-" A knock on your window interrupted you, turning around you quickly grabbed a towel to dry your hands and smiled at the blonde who was silently floating on the other side of the glass.
After opening the window Kara climbed inside carefully, stretching after her boots finally touched your hardwood floors.
"Busy hero day, huh?" You grinned, sitting down on the couch.
"Did you get all of this for Streaky today?" She looked around the place, almost as if scanning it with her x-ray vision.
"...Yeah? I've been saving up some money so I went to this nice pet store near the CatCo office, then I went to the vet and you saw me. I also need to ask Pamela from HR about what cleaning products she uses when her cat has accidents because I forgot to put some newspaper for Streaky before buying the cat litter and the smell is not quite leaving." You ranted, trying to make your lie seem more believable and normal, Kara was still worked up about something, you hoped it didn't have to do anything with you.
"I need you to be honest with me." Her words made you freeze. You could already see yourself in jail.
"Sure? What about?" You turned around to face her, a shy smile plastered across your face.
"This man..." Kara pulled out her phone from her boot, looking for something on it. "Him." She turned the phone towards you and your heart sank to your stomach, you could feel your skin going pale and your mind going bonkers. It was him. "Do you know him?"
Your first instinct was to lie, you shook your head no and Kara was still unconvinced.
"Is his name Vandal Savage?" She pushed further, taking a step closer to you which made you take a step back from her.
"No. I don't know him so I don't know his name." You kept walking back until Kara had cornered you. "Why are you asking me anyway? I barely know anyone outside of CatCo! Let alone a man like that. And I told you Vandal Savage is just some random guy who appears in my dreams, and this is not him. Leave me alone." You got defensive, walking away from Kara and back into the kitchen to keep doing dishes. "Please close the door when you get out." Kara didn't say anything else, she just left and you heard how she slammed her apartment door when going in.
Streaky stared at you like he knew you fucked up and you just sighed, feeling defeated.
[>>>]
You felt bad for lying and yelling at Kara, she had cornered you like a wounded animal and your response was to attack her, and she didn't deserve that at all. She was so upset she didn't even answer to your messages, leaving you on seen the rest of the day and night. Your resting weekend turned into the world's saddest weekend, just you, Streaky, and your neighbor's wifi. It felt boring and empty but at least your furry friend kept you company.
The next few days at CatCo Kara avoided you at all costs, looking upset whenever you tried to approach her, you didn't think it'd affect you that much until Nia walked in on you crying in the office bathroom, the young woman quickly hugged you and asked what was wrong but you felt too ashamed to tell her.
What could you say? 'Oh, it's nothing I just lied to Kara, yelled at her and been also keeping a load of secrets from her even when I know she doesn't like secrets?'
You didn't go to any other game nights, avoided going into Noonan's when you knew she'd be there, and you even noticed how Kara's friends also started ignoring you, as if they had never seen you in their entire lives.
Even Cat Grant had pointed out how miserable you looked, you tried to laugh it off but she decided to send you home early because she said you were blocking her creative energy for her latest article. But after an entire week she was tired, so she called both you and Kara to her office before the end of your workday, you thought she'd ask you to schedule something for them so you just onliged quietly, walking into the glamorous office notebook in hand.
"This is pathetic." She slammed a file against her desk, getting all of your attention.
"What- What do you mean, Miss Grant?" Kara dared to ask, still not looking at you.
"You're emotionally distressing my assistant! Do you know how many lukewarm lattes I've received from her since you started ignoring her?" The younger blonde opened her mouth to speak, being stopped by a finger raised by the queen of all media. "And before you say you're not ignoring her. I asked you several times this week to send this papers to her, as a little test, and everytime I asked her about it she didn't even knew I asked you such thing! Kiera, you're almost thirty. You need to grow up."
"It's not Kara's fault-"
"I don't need an explanation. Because I know you're guilty too. Kara is the millennial embodiment of a golden retriever, to get her to avoid you like that you must have made her upset, and that's okay. I don't care about your personal life, and Kara is doing her job well. But you can't allow yourself to let your emotions get ahead of you like this! If I find out you're doing the moaning Myrtle act in the office bathroom again it's over for you. Understood? If you want to cry do it while working, it saves time and time is money." You felt your eyes getting teary again for the millionth time today, but you held it in and just nodded with your head low, you expected Cat to dismiss you when Kara stood up from the chair she was sitting on, slamming her hands on Cat's desk.
"Miss Grant, I respect you like I respect my own mother, but please, do not talk to Y/n like that ever again. It's not her fault I'm upset." You haven't heard this tone on Kara's voice since she let her anger go at Cat during season one, it was mind-blowing that the woman who hated you the most right now was defending you in front of your boss.
"See? Pathetic. Just go make out or something, I don't care, I'm all for gay rights. Just stop bringing the emotional baggage to my office because it blocks my workflow. Understood? Now go, chop chop!" Kara was as shocked as you were, both of you were now standing outside of Cat's office with widened eyes and blushed cheeks.
"I... I'm sorry I overreacted the other day. Y'know, when you asked me about that guy." You were the first one to speak as you and Kara walked back to her office.
"I'm sorry for treating you like that. I should've tried talking to you but I just felt so sad... I don't like secrets, but I know it's hard to be upfront with someone you don't know that well..." You nodded, sighing with relief when knowing Kara didn't hate you. "Takeout at my place? If you don't have any extra work that is."
"I thought this meeting was today's extra work." You chuckled, looking over your shoulder to see Cat Grant standing proudly outside of her office and giving you a... Thumbs up?
You smiled nervously and looked ahead, Kara was smiling as she walked with you towards your desk and then to the elevator, you were happy that things were finally okay.
You remembered you had forgotten your phone back at your desk, Kara offered to just get it for you by flying but you didn't want to be a bother, you told her to go home and that you'd see her there. Although you suspected she would wait for you right where she was standing you just stepped back inside the elevator and pressed your destination, waiting patiently as the metal box kept going up without any inconveniences.
That until the lights turned off and it abruptly stopped, making you panic. Your first thought was screaming Kara's name until a hand covered your mouth, then the lights turned back on, the elevator still not moving.
"Please don't scream because that way Kara will find us." As soon as you heard the voice whispering you knew who it was, he took his hand off your mouth carefully and signed for you to stay silent, then he made a blackboard appear right behind him with a couple markers.
You snatched one of the markers from Mxy's hand, quickly writing down your thoughts on the board as he stood there nervously.
« THE HECK ARE YOU DOING HERE??? »
He opened the other marker on his hand, his handwriting was awful but still understandable.
« AVOID BRAENI »
You erased the namw he wrote and you wrote it back again, this time correcting his spelling.
« BRAINY »
« Why should I avoid him? »
Mxy sighed, still exasperated.
« JUST LISTEN TO ME!!! I'LL GET BACK TO YOU WHEN IT'S SAFE!!!! »
Another finger snap and both Mxy and the board were gone, yet you still had the market in hand. You shoved it inside your purse as the elevator finally moved, you then picked up your phone and went back down, this time hating the elevator ride. And as you guessed Kara was waiting for you while talking to a security guard as if they were lifelong friends. As soon as she saw you she said goodbye to him and started walking home with you. You still felt uneasy about your conversation with Mxy but you could tell he was terrified, so it was best to actually listen to him this once.
Kara noticed how your brow wouldn't stop furrowing ever so slightly whenever she was glancing your way, yet she felt like it was best to not push any further. The two of you were barely beginning to reconcile after what Kara had noted as your very first argument.
She's had these with many people in the past, but the only time it felt somewhat similar to what she had felt the past few days it was when she started having disagreements with Lena over Samantha, Reign and the makeshift kryptonite.
It was a mixture of betrayal, disappointment and a weird urge to seek forgiveness. Kara wasn't one to let her own pride blind her, but when it happened she was the first one to humble herself mentally, so badly that the same wouldn't let her be the one to apologize first. Kara felt like the gap between you two grew wider right after that elevator ride you took, the little voice inside her head saying that she may have done something to upset you. Upon arriving at her apartment she didn't try to pressure you into telling her what was bothering you, if anything she was acting nicer that she ever has. And when it comes to Kara Danvers that's a lot.
You were numb, as if something in you was slowly dying but you couldn't quite tell what it was. Trying to not pay it much attention you decided to focus on Kara and the food she was going to buy for the two of you.
[>>>]
The sunrise hit you like a truck, you could barely remember what you did last night but if it wasn't worthy of remembering it then it wasn't worthy of thinking about it.
Quickly you made your way out of your apartment after your morning routine, and as you were heading to work you received a call from... Nia? You had never received any calls or texts from her before, what could she possibly want from you? Your mind didn't really ponder it too much before you answered.
"Good morning, Nia-"
"Can you come to the tower?"
"Wh... What's the tower?" You quickly lied, you had surely seen it countless times through your orb, but in this reality you were supposed to be oblivious about it.
"Just... Come to the adress I'll send you, alright? It's really important, I'll have Kara make an excuse for you with Cat." Before you could say anything she hung up, leaving you with a rising anxiety creeping up your chest.
What could you do? You knew damn well that going to the tower would be the exact opposite of what Mxy asked you. Brainy pretty much lived there! You then started articulating an excuse text to get out of whatever Nia had in mind until Kara appeared, her smile didn't feel quite the same, it was off.
"Hey! Sorry for overhearing- I just heard Nia wants you at the tower and I was just heading there, need a ride?" Your gaze went from your phone to Kara's waiting arms. This felt so, so wrong, there was something going on and it felt like it wasn't going to be good for you.
Even with your gut feeling begging you to not go you accepted Kara's warm hands, feeling your cheeks heat up as she held you tightly by your waist and flew up into the sky. You had made a quick mental note to memorize the exact location she was heading you to, if anything went wrong you had to find your own way back home to Streaky.
Kara didn't say anything, she wasn't even aware of why would Nia need you there either, she just thought that maybe this was her way of apologizing to you about ignoring you because of your issues with Kara. She noticed how the rest of her friends so swiftly excluded you out of their lives as soon as she stopped mentioning you, something about that made her deeply upset but she was still feeling like you didn't trust her so at that moment she didn't really mind.
As soon as the two of you arrived Kara noticed the place was empty. Way too empty. But she remembered it was still supposed to be a secret location so she went to one of the desks, Lena's, and she pulled out an unused NDA she had drafted just in case someone was ever invited over. You signed the paper without even looking at it, just wanting to get it over with, thinking about simply calling it a day and going back home you noticed Kara was scanning the building to check if anyone was around.
"Nia is at the training room! Let's head there." You froze, that room had containment cells that could be accessed only by the superfriends. In other words: this could be an attempt to jail you. However running away would be suspicious, wouldn't it? To them you were innocent, just a civilian with no other friends or family. You could talk your way out of this, you just had to polish your manipulative skills if you even had them in the first place.
You stepped inside the elevator with Kara, your entire body was tense as each floor passed by, when the doors opened you saw Nia in her suit, Alex as Centinel and Brainy without his image inductor.
"Nope." You turned around with a soft gasp but Kara was pulling you into the room with a firm grip at your hand.
"Dreamer, Centinel, Brainiac! Uhm... Nia called Y/n, she wanted to meet here?" How did she not see her own sister and Brainy downstairs? And did she also not see whether Nia was suited up of not? Did the girl quickly change upon Kara's arrival? Your mind was making you want to explode until Kara let go of your hand, making you focus at the loss of her grasp for a split second.
"Yes, Kara, we're sorry about this but... There's something you need to know." Centinel stepped forward, making you take a step back.
"I don't think this involves me so, I'll be on my way-" You let out a nervous laughter, but as soon as you looked over your shoulder the elevator door closed shut, and something told you it wouldn't be opening for you.
"You're very much involved." Dreamer got closer too, making you shrink in your own frame. "You know my real name, don't you?" She whispered, you started stammering and didn't realize how fucked up your situation was until Brainy finally spoke.
"Yesterday we got another trail of fifth dimensional energy from CatCo, a few days ago I gave... Our source, a small scanner to detect where the energy was coming from. And it seemed to come from the elevator which was stuck in between floors, according to security cameras that show many employees calling for it yet the elevator wasn't open on any floor.
You were the only person to step in and out when this happened. And we've also had security footage that shows you around areas we've found more fifth dimensional energy at. Y/n, we also haven't found any personal information on you besides what's needed to be hired and get paid. The people who signed those documents of yours have absolutely no memory of ever doing so, none of them, you also happen to not have ever been in any security camera around the country until you magically made appearance when you applied to your job at CatCo." Brainy's speech was painfully slow, Kara's gaze went from confusion to pain, you were being cornered by both Nia and Alex when you felt a glass door against your back, before you could say anything you were shoved inside the cell, the thing was that you could still feel the fifth dimension. You could easily escape and appear in another country, but when you saw Kara's disappointed look you started fabricating a lie in your head.
"I wasn't born here! My parents were too poor to have me registered. I was raised in a very awful country and-" You choked out a painful sob. "All my documents are fake, a family friend made them for me, they wanted me to have a better life!" You slightly banged your head against the glass when your cries were disregarded.
"I-I can confirm that. Y/n has confided in me some slips about her past and she told me the exact same. I could see in her eyes how it pains her to miss her home so much!" Kara jumped to defend you, Alex squeezed her shoulder with a sympathetic look.
"That means she has her story straight. Not that she's telling the truth." Nia crossed her arms, her eyes staring at you fiercely.
"You guys speak as if I'm some kind of animal or unknown alien. Y'know what? Think whatever you want! I know I'm not like Nyxly and honestly if i had those powers I wouldn't even be here! I would have all the things I've ever wanted, not an almost empty apartment and a salary that barely helps me pay the rent." They all looked at each other, Kara quickly reached to free you out of the locked enclosure but Alex stopped her.
"Let us handle this. If she's innocent we apologize and compensate her, if she's not, then we would have the imp running loose." Kara brushed her sister's hand off of her and scoffed, giving you a promising look before she stomped out of the room. "Now you. Will I have to interrogate you the nice way or the Centinel way?"
"You won't." You sat down on the small bench the crystal cage had, your face sti wet with tears but you suddenly calmed down. "Because you know Kara trusts me, Kara knows I'm not a threat to anyone, Kara is furious that you'd betray her trust like that. She wants to be heard by her own friends. And what you want is to be right, not to take her feelings into consideration before doing something drastic." You couldn't even register when did your voice became so monotone, as if you had already planned what to say in a case like this. Alex flinched at your statement, her face scowling when she knew you were somewhat right. And with that she left too.
Nia approached you again, her frown evident behind her mask.
"If she doesn't get the truth out of you, I will."
"What could you do anyways? Give me nightmares? Make me go to sleep? Maybe punch me around a little? Oh wait! No, because if you open this you risk the oh-so-powerful imp might escape, don't you? You're still in time to let me go and realize this is all a misunderstanding. But if you prefer to strain Kara's heart like this for no other reason then be my guest! I'll be here waiting."
"Manipulation tactics. She's using our love and appreciation for Kara against us." Brainy held Nia back, she stared at you like you were nothing but a dirty criminal, and you scoffed.
"I'm just saying what I think. You saw how upset she got. Why can't she have any new friends? Did you guys also treat Lena like this? Is it like a rite of passage into whatever this inner circle is? I honestly don't think you have any crime you can charge me with, and if you do I'm all ears."
"I- We don't know your intentions, we don't know if you'll be another Nyxly and try to conquer earth, your kind is very dangerous and we will not accept them roaming freely around here." The brunette slammed her hand against the bulletproof glass, you didn't even flinch. You just sighed and hugged your legs, this was going to be an awfully long week.

The pretty zookeeper (1/??)
content: AU, Zookeper Kara x Marine biologist (and veterinary) Lena, everything else is the same as in canon (kinda), Kara has her powers, love at first sight, kara is a disney fan, she also loves cats (no matter how big)
word count: 2,673
pair(s): Supercorp (Kara Danvers x Lena Luthor)
A/N: hiii! this is just a short thing i wrote yesterday because there was a power outage at my city and i was bored (and my best friend helped me out with the concept heheh), I'm still writing the next part of entropy but in the meantime have this! idk if I'll continue it though since it may end up like all my other unfinished fics in my notes app, if anything just consider this as a oneshot :)
That day started as usual for Kara Danvers: Waking up at 6:45 am, showering, brushing her teeth and getting dressed within minutes, taking her keys and her bag and exiting her apartment by 7 am.
She quickly waltzed into her favorite cafeteria and bought herself a pumpkin spice latte with extra foam and cinnamon, and a box of donuts that she'd probably finish before arriving at work. Yet today she felt like leaving a couple of them to have on her lunch break.
The blonde arrived at the National City Zoo, being greeted by some security guards and the people at the entrance barely opening up to start selling tickets and VIP bracelets for the day. She went through the staff only entrance and was received with even more smiles and some hugs here and there. Everyone loved Kara Danvers.
She quickly trotted to her locker, leaving her bag inside (the donut box as of now rested inside the lunchroom's fridge with a note) and quickly getting changed into her uniform, which was just a polo shirt and a visor cap with the logo of the place and the signature colors. Some had the choice to also wear leggings or khaki shorts to match the outfit but she preferred her usual jeans. After changing into her uniform she pulled her hair up into a messy ponytail and closed her locker, shoving her phone inside her pocket. She was walking down towards her usual spot at the feline enclosures when she heard her own name on the speakers.
"Kara Danvers. Kara Danvers, please present yourself at the HR office. Kara Danvers, please-" She quickly tuned out the sound and she turned on her heels to the opposite direction from where she was walking. Why was she called so early in the morning? She was now intrigued.
Upon arriving at the offices that were the furthest away from almost any enclosure she saw a small group of people muttering something. She thought about eavesdropping with her enhanced hearing for a second but then felt it'd be rude. When she approached them she was greeted with smiles again.
"Any idea why I'm being called to the principal's office?" She joked, making the other three women chuckle.
"Nope, but we're theorizing. If you get fired I want your locker, it's further from the staff bathrooms than mine." One of them poked her rib and she laughed, rolling her eyes at the joke.
"I'll make sure of that." Kara stepped into the office and immediately got a smile from the secretary there, she was ushered to come in and she saw her manager along with an unknown woman and one of the most known members of the HR department of the Zoo, although she didn't remember his name.
"Hi, I heard you were calling me?" She knocked and peeked her head through the door as everyone looked at her.
"Kara!" Her manager, James, fully opened the door for her with a smile. "Before you think of anything, don't worry, it's not bad."
"Miss Danvers, this is Lena Luthor, our newest hire for marine biologist and veterinary." The other man in front of her was sitting behind a desk, and he simply wavered his hand in the woman's direction without taking his cold eyes off Kara. She turned her gaze to the woman and she was gorgeous. Long dark brown hair that barely had a few lighter streaks when being hit by the morning sun, every strand of it neatly enclosed into a high ponytail that let Kara admire her features even better. Her eyes with long beautiful lashes were a shade of green she didn't know the name of, her ivory skin pale and completely smooth with only two little birthmarks on the neck, her eyebrows were neatly plucked and her mouth was what took the most attention she had a gracious smile and her red tinted lips complimented everything about her. Kara was speechless until Lena approached her, the blonde on automatic mode accepted Lena's hand and stretched it, immediately putting on a customer service smile.
"It's nice to meet you, Lena." The name rolled so swiftly off her lips it felt like she was a witch casting a spell. "I mean-, Miss Luthor."
"Nice to meet you too, Miss Danvers." Lena's soft chuckle filled the room, making Kara weak at the knees, she could even sense Lena's perfume and it was heavenly. Why was she called in anyway? She didn't care, she just wished to stay this close to the woman as much as possible.
"So, Kara, Miss Luthor doesn't need any training, she has seen our schedules and she's one of the best in her fields." James' voice took her out of her thoughts, her hand still holding Lena's. "However she needs someone to show her around the place, even if she's only going to be at the vet office and the fish tanks. It's best if she familiarizes herself with the whole Zoo. I was suggested to do it myself but I just have too many things on my plate today, so I suggested that you do it. Can you?" Just a tour? Show Lena the place? She could do that, she definitely could do that. If only she wasn't so focused on the hand tightly gripping hers. She quickly nodded and both James and the office guy sent them on their way, she was silent and avoided looking at Lena until she spoke first.
"Are all handshakes this long in National City?" The brunette teased, quickly making Kara let go of her hand, both of them missed the warmth for a couple seconds until their minds went back to the reason why they were together.
"Uhm, sorry- I didn't mean to-..." Lena just smiled and Kara sighed, trying to compose herself by taking a deep breath. "So, let's get you a tour. We can start in my zone first."
"Sure. I would love that, and there's no hurry. If they try taking this off our work hours I'm a lawyer too." The blonde's eyes widened, what else could this woman do? Her mind was barely comprehending when she heard Lena's beautiful laughter, this wasn't like the chuckle she showed earlier, this was a full laugh that made Kara want to throw herself into the shark tank. How on Earth could she be so perfect? "Just kidding. I know laws, and I could be a lawyer. But law school is way too... Cruel."
"I agree. I- I didn't go to law school either, but it just seems like a dark place."
"Good to see we're on the same page about lawyers. Now I believe we have a tour ahead of us, don't we?"
The Kryptonian nodded, immediately setting the pace as she walked towards the feline enclosures she was heading to earlier, this time with a beautiful woman right by her side.
[...]
The tour was going smoothly, she had planned to start by the felines but she changed her mind last minute, starting by the ponds and showing the brunette the ducks, flamingoes, turtles and geese. Then she took her to see the monkeys, hippopotamuses, zebras, and elephants. The ostriches were Kara's least favorites and Lena noticed this, but the woman still greeted the animals with respect and a hint of fear upon being approached by the gigantic birds. They also met with some staff members and she introduced Lena to everyone, the young Luthor didn't fail to notice how some worker's stares would linger at Kara for just barely a bit more than what one would consider friendly, something that Danvers seemed to not notice at all. Or if she did she just didn't seem to care.
They were now more than halfway through their tour of the installations, this part of the Zoo kept the animals that thrived better in cold climates so it was an entire building that made her skin shiver upon entering. The air conditioner was up to the max and it was a really sudden change from the fresh warmth of National City's summer.
"And these are the penguins, we only have rescued three so far and they're all male. Their names are Huey, Dewey and Louie. You can tell them apart by the little bracelets on their ankles." Kara pointed at them through the glass, and Lena immediately saw them and she laughed at the names.
"Who baptized them? Can I have a word with that person? Because so far I've been impressed by the creativity of the names here. And how do you memorize the name of each one of the animals? That's impressive." The blonde felt herself blushing at Lena's words, she just let out an embarrassed chuckle when she noticed the questions were actually serious, and the brunette was waiting for a response to all of them.
"I... I usually pick the names. And since the animals respond to them everyone else calls them that too. You wouldn't believe how happy George the monkey was when we gave him his name." They kept walking as Kara kept telling stories of how many animals she had named during her time working there, all of this while walking in front of some of them. Once they stepped out of the cold building she noticed how Kara's warm blonde hair seemed to shine with the sun rays, it was almost magical.
It was like the blue eyed woman was a magnet for every soul in the Zoo because she was approached by any animal that could reach her. Lena felt like she was in front of a Disney princess, even more so when two flying squirrels jumped from a nearby tree and graciously landed on Kara's visor.
"You... Kara-"
"Yes?" The girl turned around, looking at Lena with innocent eyes. Until she noticed Lena was staring at the top of her head and she sighed with a tired smile. "Those are Chip and Dale. They're technically not part of the Zoo but they live here and we're not kicking them out. The guests like feeding them." Both squirrels went down to Kara's shoulders making her laugh, and Lena could've sworn she has never heard such a beautiful and harmonious laugh before, it was like music to everyone's ears.
"You love Disney don't you? The penguins, the squirrels, the ducks called Donald and Daisy. What's next? A lion named Simba?" She arched a brow when Kara's face went red.
"What-? Pffft, noooo-" Lena's accusatory stare made her melt, as if she was under a magnifying glass that was under the sun. "She's a lioness. But she liked the name!" And with that both women burst into laughter, which made the squirrels go away and back to the tree they came out from.
They kept walking calmly until Kara happened to take a quick glance at her watch. She felt like time flew by when she was around her new acquaintance, but she didn't expect for almost the entire morning to be gone so fast!
Lena noticed the fear in Kara's eyes, and before she was able to ask what was going on she felt the blonde taking her hand and tugging her the opposite direction from where they were heading to.
"Kara-?!" The blonde was running and she was being pulled behind, barely being able to keep up because of her confusion.
"I-I'm sorry, I'm the only one in my area today and I got carried away. I have to feed almost thirty animals before lunch which is in..." She checked her watch again. "Twenty-five minutes!" A gasp left Kara's throat when Lena matched her pace (while wearing high heels) with a smirk.
"I'll help you! How bad can it be?"
[...]
Lena expected apes, maybe the petting zoo, zebras, literally any other animal would fit the embodiment of sunshine in front of her. But she was shocked at the fact that Kara Danvers was the one in charge of the wild felines. Lions, tigers, panthers, wildcats, and more, all of them under the blonde woman's care. She thought a work like that would have someone on the spot all the time yet Kara seemed to relax when she took her visor cap off and started separating the food by each animal's prescribed diet. She didn't know how she could be of help until Kara gaver her a list, it contained all the ingredients and names of the animals that needed each food item, and with a quick glance she understood Kara needed her to oversee everything as she laid down the raw food and filled each bucket for each hungry cat waiting for her.
They worked quickly, she didn't even know how someone could be that fast after walking so much during the morning, yet Kara Danvers had everything ready and started with two buckets on each hand and a pair of tongs that she almost forgot until Lena reminded her.
Lena smiled pleased at Kara's efficiency, and as they walked to the first cage she froze with fear, was Kara just going inside the enclosure to feed a hungry tiger? She looked around and noticed there weren't any visitors outside to watch the tiger, the enclosures were all connected by smaller gates to let certain animals be with each other, but for now they were closed. And the tiger that she had on the list was alone with Kara, who quickly closed the door behind her and walked inside, the animal circling her and that's when Lena felt like this was Kara's end. She was about to run to ask for help when she noticed how her new colleague wasn't remotely scared of the giant feline that was walking around her as if she was its prey. Kara lifted the bucket over her head with one hand and quickly made a gesture with the other, her face stern yet loving. The feline quickly sat down like a trained dog, its body language signaling it feared and respected Kara more than Kara would ever fear him.
"Tony, what have I said about trying to chase me?" The cat roared softly, making her chuckle. "Sorry about the delay, here's your turkey. And I got you some salmon too! I hope you treated the night shift guards nicely." She then looked back at the bucket and lowered it, instead of reaching for her tongs (which were forgotten outside with Lena and another three buckets of raw meats) she took the entire raw turkey thigh with her hand and acted as if she was playing with a dog, she then threw it, making the tiger follow to catch it and she left the rest of the food on a concrete bowl that was built near the door. "See ya, Tony!" She walked out as swiftly as she walked in, then she locked the door with the master key around her neck. Kara didn't think much of the situation until she noticed Lena's panicked stare.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?!" Lena grabbed her shoulders and tried to shake her which Kara let happen. "YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE SAFETY PROTOCOLS HERE OR SOMETHING?! THAT THING COULD'VE KILLED YOU!"
"What- Le- Miss Luthor! Don't worry! Yes we have safety protocols, but Tony has known me for years! I've taken care of him since he was barely a kitten. I'm not afraid of him or any other animal under my care." Lena seemed to relax a bit, still uneasy about the woman simply going into a hungry tiger's cage with a bucket filled with food on her hands.
"What about the ostriches?"
"They're not under my care-"
"So you're afraid of them?" The brunette's panic seemed to steer away and it turned into teasing.
"What-? No! I'm not..." There was that glare again, looking to dig deeper inside her mind, but this time she didn't cave in. "There's work to do, Miss Luthor, who's next?" Lena's eyes left Kara and focused on the list on her hands, then a smile crept up her red lips.
"Simba."

part 4 here
You woke up after a not so long nap, suddenly feeling an awful smell in your apartment.
Looking around you immediately found the perpetrator: Streaky. And he seemed to be smug about it.
"Oh my god, I should've put some newspaper for you or something." You grumbled as you got up. Thinking about how you should try to take your new cat to a vet and also buy him a litter box and other things he may need.
[Meanwhile at the tower.]
The kryptonian woman flew out of Y/n's apartment as soon as she heard Brainy's voice over the intercom device in her earring, quickly excusing herself she arrived in half a second, finding the rest of the Superfriends all together in some sort of meeting that was waiting Kara's presence to start.
The room felt tense, Nia was sitting with an upset look on her face, fidgeting with her own hands and trying to not seem too nervous in front of her friends.
"Kara, we're glad you're here, Nia called an emergency meeting." J'onn greeted the blonde and she nodded in response, now everyone was looking at the young brunette who was trying to carefully pick her words.
"So... When Brainy detected fifth dimensional energy a while ago... I had an odd dream inside your office, Kara, nothing I could actually interpret, so I let it go. But now it's a recurrent dream every time I fall asleep or try to see something else, and since last night Y/n is in the dream too." The half naltorian confessed, feeling a strange knot in her throat, something about this vision just felt so wrong, like something extremely bad was about to happen.
"Wait, Cat Grant's assistant?" Brainy spoke up, deeply concerned for his girlfriend and for her statement.
"Yes... I... I see a man, big, full of scars, scary... And he's just standing in front of me, and keeps telling me that he's just getting started and that this planet will be his. He said his name but it's blurry every time he says it... And Y/n was right behind him, she was looking at me with guilt but then she started laughing like crazy and I got all surrounded by crows, like a tornado of them." She hugged herself whilst telling the story, feeling chills all over her spine.
"Maybe we can contact Maeve... And ask her to help you interpret that dream...?" Brainy suggested, although Nia and her sister were starting to fix things (and Maeve was attending Dreamer's LGBTQ+ youth center on a regular basis) the brunette still felt somewhat unsafe whenever she had to trust her sister on matters like these.
"Okay, yeah, I can try. Maybe if I see her this weekend." Nia spoke softly, the rest of the Superfriends were silent, deep in thought.
"Nia, may I access your memories so I can share with the others the face of this mysterious man? Maybe we can find him on our face recognition system." J'onn asked gently, and Nia nodded, letting the man approach her and put his thumb on her temple.
After a couple minutes everyone saw Nia's dream from her point of view, no one really recognized him, but Kara felt like he was very familiar somehow, like she heard something about him from her friends from the other earths.
Her mind couldn't help but stumble back to the vision of you laughing hysterically. Something Nia didn't seem to notice (or maybe she just didn't find it important enough to mention) was that your eyes turned bright blue, a glowy blue that felt like it could burn anyone with just one look at them. Kara didn't like the memory on her head, and after the discussion with the Superfriends she decided to immediately fly over to Star City to get some answers.
[...]
After a couple hours you were on your way to the pet store to get Streaky a crate, you had put him inside a big purse you found inside a box in your apartment, his head peeking out of it as you walked down the streets of National City. The moment you arrived at the store that took you one google search to find you froze.
"Streaky, have you seen my wallet?" You whispered, slightly looking inside the purse where he was without moving him around.
You patted the pockets of the jeans you had put on for this adventure, nothing. You looked around, thinking it might've fallen, maybe? Also nothing. Then the memory of leaving it on the kitchen island came back to your head. It has taken you so long to get here! Your legs would give up if you had to walk back home then back here again.
Sighing with defeat you decided to shoot your shot again, it was just your wallet, with some extra money maybe; nothing too crazy.
Going inside an alleyway you just looked around, making sure no one could see you, you took a deep breath, feeling the fifth dimension trickle down your fingers. And then you did it.
Your wallet appeared in your hands, with some extra cash inside of it. Smiling widely you quickly ran so that no Superfriend would be onto you.
[...]
You were now inside the pet store, doing regular shopping when you heard the door being opened followed by the ring of a bell that alerted workers of customers to attend. As you looked at the new customer from the corner of your eye you realized it wasn't any customer at all, it was Dreamer. You turned your head the other way around so she wouldn't see your face and started walking down the cat food aisle. But you couldn't help your own mind eavesdropping on the conversation between Nia and the cashier.
"Has anyone... Suspicious came around here?" She asked, her voice stern and firm.
"No? Not really, I mean some guy tried to steal fish food this morning but they didn't pay us to stop shoplifters." The guy replied, uninterested in whatever the superhero might be looking for.
"I mean... Like has anyone bought way too much stuff? Like absurdly too much?" She was getting frustrated by the nonchalant cashier.
"Nah, we're not that big of a chain. And today is not a busy day really. Is there anything else I can help you with?" Dreamer just grunted and stormed out of the store, making you feel guilty because you knew damn well she must've dreamed that the person the Superfriends are looking for was in there, but something was upsetting her way too much to even look closely inside the store.
After a few more minutes you had everything you needed: cat food, catnip, cat shampoo, cat litter, many different cat toys, a collar that another worker helped you to get Streaky's name and your contact info on it, and of course a crate.
Now the purse was filled with your purchases and Streaky was sleeping more comfortably inside the biggest purchase you made. Smiling, you just went downtown to the nearest vet clinic, not really knowing what to ask for but maybe they'd help you there. And of course you snapped your fingers again before getting away from the store, deleting yourself from any camera footage from the store's CCTV.
[...]
Kara was about to get to Barry's place when she got another call from the tower, J'onn telling her they got a trail of fifth dimensional energy again.
Worried she flew back to National City and noticed you walking downtown with something in your hands, she should've went to help Nia but something told her you'd have a few answers.
She landed right in front of you, almost making you fall on your ass but she held you by your waist before this happened.
"Hi!" You gasped, your free hand clasping onto her cape.
"Hey... Uhm, whatcha got there?" She looked down at the crate, her x-ray vision revealing the cat inside it.
"Oh, I was buying things for Streaky! I just got him some food, a collar and this thing so I can take him to the vet, maybe he needs vaccines and to get fixed. I also got some cat litter but I couldn't find a litter box." You lied, the reason just being that you didn't want to carry the box all the way down to the vet then home.
"Oh... Okay, I still have to go to the tower, I'll see you later, I'll buy dinner." And with that she let go of you and flew into the sky, making you feel uneasy as to how you were going to tell her the truth.
[...]
"I went to the pet shop from my dream but there wasn't anyone!" Nia was walking in circles in front of Alex who seemed just as worried.
"Did you ask to check some footage or something? Maybe the cameras picked up on whoever used the fifth dimensional energy?" She suggested, feeling impotence all throughout her body.
"I... I didn't, maybe Brainy can hack their CCTV and check? Did he run the face recognition thing?"
"I just did." Brainy came out of the elevator and stepped into the room. "No sightings of this man anywhere in this world, I still put his face on the database just in case we see him anywhere but still. Nothing yet." Their conversation was interrupted by Kara, who had used her super hearing and already knew what they were talking about.
"What pet store did you go to?" The blonde asked Nia.
"The one near the vet clinic downtown. It's like a not really famous franchise..." She mumbled, trying to recall the name of it.
"I know the address, let's check the cameras." Brainy spoke up, guiding everyone to his computer where after a couple seconds he was already accessing the security system of the store, the several camera angles showing up on the monitors. "Let's check what happened right before, during and after the energy appeared."
[...]
"Nothing, just Nia going in and out, and the cashier sitting there doing nothing." Alex remarked what everyone has seen twice already.
"Wait, go back there." Kara noticed something odd. Brainy rewinded the recording until Kara told him to stop. "Zoom on the cashier." And so he did, and when the footage played they noticed how the guy was speaking as if he was attending a customer, the cameras didn't have sound but his mouth was moving and he had a customer service smile.
"Maybe he's talking to a coworker across the store?" Nia suggested, but then she noticed on another camera how the front automatic door opened as if someone was going through it, yet no one was in there. "There!" She pointed to her discovery.
"This person used the fifth dimensional magic to erase themselves from the footage? Maybe we can go and ask the cashier to give us a description?" Kelly chimed in after being silent for a while.
"I... Maybe the fifth dimensional user tried to delete someone else from the footage." Kara was nervous, a little something nagging her in the back of her mind.
"No, that doesn't make sense... Kara, are you okay?" Alex noticed her sister's furrowed brow and how tense her shoulders looked. "You should keep going with your resting weekend, we got this under control." Kara just nodded silently and flew back to her apartment.
[...]
As soon as she got home she didn't doubt dialing the number of her friend, someone who might know something about this.
The phone rang once and she immediately got an answer.
"Barry? Can you come he-" She didn't even finish speaking when there was a knock on her door, and when she opened it there was her friend with a smile.
"Hi, heard through the grapevine that you needed a visit?" The man leaned into the doorframe, making Kara chuckle and she let him in.
"We have this thing going on with some... Fifth dimensional energy bursts. And Dreamer had a dream about this man... We don't know his name but, uhm... He seems dangerous, really dangerous. And I was thinking he may not be from this earth, since we can't even find him even with our face recognition system."
"So an Imp? There's an Imp running loose in this dimension?" Barry was now worried, sitting down on Kara's couch trying to think about who it could be.
"That's the thing, we don't know. There's this... Feeling that I might've heard his name before but I cannot remember." Kara sat down next to Barry, trying so hard to recall what name would fit this man.
At some point you saw a face, you had seen him many times now, but he wasn't from this earth, was he? After the crisis on infinite earths it was hard to tell. You never really caught up with it. He was with the first neanderthals, then a meteorite changed him. He had been in every war, every genocide, every single cruelty led moment. Rama Khan? No, he didn't have any earth powers; he was different, he viewed humanity as the ultimately superior race, he was bigger, smarter, scarier...
"VANDAL SAVAGE!" You screamed, jolting out of wherever you were lying asleep. Your heart was about to come out from your mouth, you were sweating cold and your face was pale. A gut feeling telling you that this man was somewhere on this earth, and he was dangerous. Way too dangerous.
"What is Vandal Savage?" Kara asked softly, sitting by your side and rubbing your back gently.
"He... It's just a random man that appeared in my dream, I'm sorry." You lied, expecting your already bad anxiety to cover your explanation.
The name rolled off of Kara's tongue like nothing, immediately filling the blur from Nia's dream.
"Vandal Savage, his name is Vandal Savage." Kara spoke softly, a look of fear taking hold of Barry's eyes.
"WHAT?! NO!" He got up quickly. "He's dead. He's not on this earth, not in this century, we all checked." He panicked, thinking about the menace this man was.
"You know him? Wait, he was on your earth?" Barry nodded whilst fidgeting with his hands.
"He... He's very dangerous, Kara."
"Let's go to the tower, now."
With that both of them left Kara's apartment in a split second.

part 3 here
In a second you felt yourself falling asleep, you knew it'd happen when your body felt extremely heavy and light at the same time. It was an awkward experience, but you were getting used to it, the dreams were what you still couldn't stand.
As a fifth dimensional being your mind was filled with everything. And by everything it literally meant everything. Every single thing known to mankind and other forms of life, from the very moment you were born your brain contained the information of every existent civilization, their languages, anything they did. Although this information could only be accessed subconsciously, only so many Imps are able to reach their full magic potential. In your case you had so many dreams, every single one was different yet so similar in some way. It was usually events that happened on earth, but it was like they were all mixed together and you could see them all at once.
This time you saw Pompeii, but as you turned around you saw the day Atlantis sank to the bottom of the sea. Usually you'd see mixed events, but tonight it was all tragedies known to humans. Wars, genocide, natural disasters, all of it.
"Huh-? Y/n? What happened?" Kara stood up from the couch and walked towards you. Then you noticed you were sleeping on Kara's bed, she had probably put you there while you slept.
"I... It was just a nightmare. Sorry..." You mumbled, still shaking with fear, trying to take deep breaths to calm yourself down.
"What is Vandal Savage?" She asked softly, sitting by your side and rubbing your back gently.
"He... It's just a random scary dude that appeared in my dream, I'm sorry." You lied, expecting your already bad anxiety to cover your explanation.
"Oh... I'm sorry, do you want some tea or something else? That'll maybe help you with sleeping." You shook your head and plopped back in the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"You don't have to sleep on the couch." You whispered while Kara was getting up to go back to sleep.
"It's fine, don't wor-" She turned around to see you and something in your eyes full of fear made her want to protect you at all costs, not wanting to see you like this ever again. "Alright, but if I kick you while I'm asleep it's not my fault." The older woman teased, crawling onto the empty space next to you and making herself comfortable in a second.
"Goodnight, Kara." You mumbled, turning to your side to face her, she returned the goodnight, her face barely visible with the moonlight and you fell asleep to the sight of those eyes of hers you loved so much.
[...]
You didn't expect to wake up so late, running out of Kara's bed with desperation to get to your apartment so you could get ready for work, stopping for a second when you saw Kara in her kitchen cooking as if nothing worried her. Well, she was the boss, she could clearly get late to work if she wanted to.
"I'm late, thanks for letting me stay the night, I have to-" In a split second Kara stopped you from opening her door.
"I called Cat and told her you were taking the weekend off. Y/n, you need it. You can go home if you want, your doors are fixed too." She got out of your way, you stared at her puzzled as to why she did that.
"I..." You didn't know what to say. "Thank you...? I don't know what I am going to do though."
"Why? You can just relax for the weekend, go out with friends, anything." She smiled, still confused at your reaction.
"Uh..."
"No way-" She suddenly understood. "You don't have any friends?" Kara whispered, your face turning red from pure shame.
"No... I mean, we're friends, I think? And Sheila from HR is really nice to me when I help her with the printer..." You mumbled as your gaze was averting hers.
"Of course we are friends! You know what, I'll take some days off too. We'll have a girls weekend. Which came in a nice timing because tonight is game night but it'll be girls only! Mostly because the boys of my friend group are really busy with a project they have so it'll be only me, my sister, her wife, Nia, and now you!" Kara gave a little excited jump as she went back to her kitchen, the delicious smell dragging you behind her.
[...]
The day went more than well, you watched so many movies with Kara, and she showed you some cool snack tricks she did with her powers. Like instant popcorn with her heat vision or making ice cream with her breath. She also tried to get to know you more without invading your privacy, so now the two of you were playing twenty questions. So far you were in the fifth question and it was going smoothly.
"My turn! What's your favorite food?"
"Uh..." You tried to think it through, you honestly couldn't really tell since eating wasn't really a necessary thing for you until you arrived on earth. "Pasta? I don't know, I just eat anything as long as it isn't spicy. Or a cucumber, I hate cucumbers."
"Have you tried potstickers?" You shook your head no and Kara gasped. "You definitely have to! We'll order some tonight!"
"Okay, okay" You smiled at her. "Now my turn. I've seen you on the news with Lena Luthor, a lot. Do you like her?" You asked jokingly, and she understood it was a joke but her face immediately went red while her eyes gave you a sad feeling just from looking at her.
"I mean... Maybe? I never told her anything... I know she likes women but honestly I've never been with a girl and that's what always made me back away. And our friendship has been really, really rough..." Her upbeat tone disappearing panicked you, you didn't intend to make her sad with your dumb joke! You did find yourself being a Supercorp supporter at some point, however now that this reality wasn't just a simple interdimensional show for you it made your heart wrench.
"I'm so sorry, Kara... I'm so, so sorry... I don't know how Lena may feel, but anyone would be lucky to be with you. You're amazing." This time it was your turn to hold her hands, her face going even more red as her eyes stared at you in awe.
"M-My turn... Have you ever liked someone...?" You almost choked with your own saliva, the blood rushing to your cheeks almost instantly.
"I- Uh... I was homeschooled so I didn't really go out growing up, but I guess yes, I have? Do TV crushes count? And well I think Wonder Woman is very attractive too." You chuckled nervously, your hands pulling away from hers.
"Wonder Woman...? Do you know her?" Kara raised a brow.
"Wha-? No! I've seen her on TV, and well I may have seen her fly in the sky the other day? I thought it was you but I don't think your hair looks black when you fly. Plus she didn't have enough blue." Now the conversation felt awkward, especially since you almost caught yourself calling Wonder Woman by her real name, which you obviously knew along with almost every other superhero's identity in this dimension.
"Y'know, I'm acquaintances with her, if you want to I can introduce you guys." The blonde teased, poking your ribs with her finger.
"Hey-!" You backed away from her with a laugh. "Well, I mean, you could say she's my type. Older, taller and waaay stronger. But honestly she's out of my league. You should try to shoot your shot with her actually. Two powerful women always make the best couples." And now you were the one poking her, although it didn't even make her flinch she did laugh.
"I know she's interested in women but well, If you saw us both in the same room you'd see us like best friends, almost siblings. We have so much in common it's impossible for us to be something else, like we're the same person. Wonder Woman is way more sophisticated than I am though."
"Hmmm, well... I guess you'll have to settle for me then." You teased, leaning back onto the couch with a smirk.
"I mean I'd choose you over Wonder Woman anyway." She teased back, a cocky grin spreading on her face as she stared at you.
"You would not-" You choked out with a nervous smile. "Oh wow, look at the time! Streaky must be hungry, aren't you, buddy?" Your head snapped towards the cat who was simply sleeping on the kitchen counter. "See? He's in the kitchen, he must be desperate for food. I'm going to my apartment to give him some food and I'll take a shower before your friends get here. Be right back." And with that you were out the door with your new cat in your arms, he wasn't even upset that you woke him up. Streaky stared at you with his blue eyes, calming you almost instantly.
"That was... definitely something." You murmured under your breath.
[...]
Showered and ready to go back and face Kara again you found yourself feeling anxious. This would be your first time meeting Kelly and Alex. If only they all knew how much you cried watching their wedding.
What if Alex could tell there's something wrong with you? She was certainly more perceptive than Kara and Nia. And whenever she had a gut feeling about something it was very likely to be true.
Pushing your worries aside you left Streaky some food and water for him to enjoy while you were gone, you'd probably come back to bring him into Kara's apartment later either way. Right before you even knocked on Kara's door she opened it, welcoming you with that big smile of hers.
"Sorry, I heard you going out of your apartment and then I saw you on my door." She admitted, stepping out of the way to let you in. "This is my sister Alex" The older Danvers rose her glass of whiskey and nodded. "And my sister-in-law Kelly, and you already know Nia." Kelly waved at you, then the blonde closed the door behind you and you just walked towards the couch with a wry smile.
"Y/n!" Nia ran towards you and hugged you, it was surprising but you just decided to pat her back and smile.
"Hi, Nia!" She let go of you and pulled you towards the cushions on the floor that she and Kara had been sitting on.
"Hi, my name is Y/n, nice to meet you." You finally mustered up the courage to formally introduce yourself to the Olsen-Danvers marriage, Kelly gave you a warm smile and shook your hand across the coffee table whilst Alex just smiled lightly and waved.
The room felt so warm and calming that your anxiety was slowly wearing off. You even found yourself engaging in the conversation with Kara and Nia about CatCo and the path it was taking so far as a company. Alex and Kelly both chiming in with their own opinions about Cat Grant's sudden decision of buying CatCo some months ago.
After some chit chat the game night officially started, and Jenga was the first game. You were rocking it, Alex had tried to make you let the tower fall but you didn't even flinch at her attempts. Which ended up in Alex just knocking the tower during her own turn so you all would take shots. You accepted one shot of vodka because you knew it wouldn't affect you at all. However after that you pretended to just not like alcohol as a whole and Nia dared Alex to drink for you. Which she accepted without even thinking about it.
After many rounds of Jenga Kara and Alex were the most wasted ones, that alien rum was definitely something else.
"So tell me... Is Cat just your boss or..." Alex stumbled upon her words, cackling loudly. "Y'know... Are you getting promoted every month? Kara can't shut up about you." Your whole face felt like it was burning when you understood her remark, clearing your throat you just laughed.
"No, no... Miss Grant is just my boss, nothing else."
"Alex! You can't ask that...!" Kara slurred out, pointing her finger at her sister who just laughed as loud as she could.
"I know you were dying to know if Y/n was having some... Fifty shades thing going on with Cat Grant." Alex poked Kara's stomach, making her back up just by pure instinct.
"Will they be okay...?" You whispered to Nia who looked really tired.
"Hm...? Yeah. They're always like this. Ever since Kara found out about alien booze she sometimes gets really wasted on game night. Her alcohol tolerance is lower than you might think." Nia chuckled and so did you, laying your head on her shoulder whilst she did the same with your head. Tiredness getting ahead of you both as the rest of the group was chatting loudly, Kelly being rather tipsy than actually drunk.
You didn't even know when you had fallen asleep again, but you woke up to a very nice smell, and so did Nia. Apparently they just kept playing while the two of you slept and what woke you up was the newly arrived food Kara had ordered for everyone.
The brunette shot you a weird accusing glare once she was more awake, fearing she might've had a dream about you all you could do was smile nervously.
"I got a Supergirl discount!" She smiled, waving the receipt and putting the food on the coffee table.
"I want the potstickers!" Alex yelled.
"Then I call dibs on the Lo Mein noodles." Said Kelly smiling at her wife who gave her a pout.
"There's much for us to share..." Nia mumbled with a smile.
"Not with Miss I-Have-A-Blackhole-For-Stomach Zor-El!" The oldest Danvers sister took one of the boxes of potstickers protectively, and you laughed at the whole interaction.
Even with the fear that Nia might know who you truly are you still felt safe somehow, feeling Kara sit down on the small couch, her legs next to you.
You just laid your head on one of her knees and felt her glaring at you. Everyone was eating but you. You were still tired and sleepy, too sleepy to grab a plate. However Kara wouldn't allow that, after a few minutes Kara was basically feeding you, she would eat one bite of her food then give you the next bite herself, although you tried to do it yourself she didn't let you, feeding you like a toddler the whole time. And to eat one bite every time she took one would be way too much for almost anyone, for you it was alright, but Kara just stopped at what she felt a human would feel full after.
Then it was time to play Uno. Everyone had to explain the rules to you, surprised you didn't know the game at all until you had to explain you were 'homeschooled' and an only child, only the second statement being true. After a couple of rounds you got the hang of it, finding ways to memorize the entire deck of cards and its placements after a some turns, and with that you built up the perfect strategy and won almost every game, it was easier when you had to shuffle the deck but it was even more fun whenever you had it hard to win. And the best part? Money was involved, so you ended up with five hundred bucks in cash in just an hour, Alex trying to prove you had somehow cheated yet she couldn't really find proof at all besides 'I said so'.
[...]
After playing some more games it was already 2AM, everyone left to go home, Kelly offering you and Nia a cab ride since it was so late, you denied it by saying you lived nearby, not disclosing how nearby though.
When everyone was gone you had started cleaning, Kara asleep on the couch after drinking and eating so much. It was going to be exhausting to do all the dishes without your powers but you found yourself just enjoying the task while humming a few songs you knew, Kara could do this in under a second, and so could you, but something in the house's ambient and warm water on your hands made you feel at ease, like you were having a domestic life with Kara, she'd be probably helping you out right now if she wasn't asleep. When you finished you left Kara a sticky note on her fridge, thinking she'd want to spend the entirety Saturday by herself, but you were proved wrong when someone knocked on your door the next morning.
Not really awake yet you got up putting on a really oversized t-shirt that almost came down to your knee over some black shorts which could only be seen by lifting the shirt that you were already wearing.
"Good morning! I brought you breakfast, I hope you like French food, I got you some Pain Au Chocolat at a very pretty restaurant in Montpellier." Kara beamed, one of her hands lifting two boxes that seemed like they could contain a medium sized cake each. Her other hand was holding a big hydro flask. "I also bought some coffee in Colombia, and this famous jiggly cheesecake from Japan." You stepped aside, letting the blonde inside your home and you closed the door behind you.
"You really like food don't you." You chuckled, not really sure that you could actually eat all that, even an Imp could get full every once in a while.
"It's for you, well, we can share. But I'd rather you eat first! I wouldn't want to leave you without any food." She smiled, putting the boxes on your kitchen counter while Streaky made an appearance to rub his body against Kara's leg.
"It's so cool that you can fly around without the suit now." Sitting down on the couch you watched Kara serve your food on two separate plates and sat down next to you.
"I did it once, or twice. To buy Lena some snacks from Milan, Dublin and Paris." She admitted, her cheeks turning pink from the slight embarrassment.
"You could've just bought me a cinnamon bun at Noonan's and I'd be the happiest." You pointed at her with your fork before taking a bite of the cheesecake, moaning at the feeling of the dessert melting in your tongue. "THIS SHIT IS FIRE!" You started eating faster like it'd be your last meal on earth.
Kara was staring at you with her cheeks flushed and eyes bulged open, but after a couple seconds she broke in laughter and started eating with you, her reaction almost as dramatic as yours.
After a nice breakfast the two of you were now just sitting on the couch, a comfortable silence taking place between the two of you as your head was resting on Kara's shoulder.
"Kara… I've got a question..." You finally spoke, feeling a tension building up in your chest.
"Yeah?" She muttered, her hand on your thigh which you only noticed when her thumb started rubbing your skin softly.
"What was it like meeting her...? Princess Nyxly..." Kara looked at you puzzled by your question and you couldn't even look up from the coffee table in front of you.
"Uhm... She was... A lot. I thought I could bring out the best in her, we were friends at first when we met in the phantom zone. I... Must admit I was quite stunned by how generous and kind she was despite her conditions, that until she showed me her true colors, and just kept doing more and more evil, all because she was thirsty for power and revenge. The whole AllStone totems thing was exhausting, it took a big emotional and physical toll on me. And when she captured Mxy, my friend, and also tricked and manipulated Dreamer into freeing her from the dream realms... Nyxly was too much, but it's one of those events in my life that made me realize I didn't want to hide anymore, and I guess I can thank her for that."
"I... Saw on the news that she was from the fifth dimension, and that she wanted revenge on her evil father... Wouldn't that make her more of an... Antihero? Rather than a real villain? She sure wasn't good but she did have solid reasons." You started rambling unconsciously, fidgeting with your thumbs while Kara pulled away from you, trying to get a better look of your face.
"You're... Not wrong. Nyxly's morals were twisted, and they wouldn't ever align with mine, but that one thing she had that I respected. She couldn't stand injustice like that. Or when Lex Luthor tried to hurt my niece, Esme, she never allowed him to ever put a finger on her. When Esme told us that I honestly thought that Nyxly could've been saved. But Lex doomed her and himself."
"That guy Lex put you through a lot, didn't he...?" You finally looked up at Kara who wanted to cry at that moment.
She just nodded, holding back a sniffle and you hugged her tight, letting her know she was okay with you.
Another long silence flooded the room, just as comfortable as the others. It was just the two of you technically cuddling on the couch after what you'd consider a gal pals brunch and a very emotional conversation, nothing out of the norm right. Right?
Suddenly Kara was alarmed and got up from the couch, leaving you confused until she explained her emergency.
"Superfriends meeting, sorry. I'll be back asap. Pinky promise." She intertwined her finger with yours very quickly before flying out of your window. Not even letting you respond or anything.
"Aight…" You found yourself having to eat at least most of what Kara brought you, Streaky staring at you from his napping spot on the floor.

Entropy (Part 3)
content: slow burn ? but not really , hurt/comfort , eventual romance , wlw , kara x reader , reader needs therapy , reader is very socially anxious lmao
word count: 3,229
pair(s): Kara x Fifth Dimensional Imp!Reader, and all the other canon SG couples (Nia and Brainy, Kelly and Alex, etc)
A/N: I don't have much comment on this lmao, but I jusr wanted to ask if anyone can DM me and explain to me how to enable the Q&A?? Is that what is called?? option so I can take drabble/one shot requests, I'm very new to tumblr and I'm using the mobile app so it's very hard:')
edit; nvm i just figured it out !
part 2 here (the a/n in it will take you to part 1)
After lunch both of you just kept talking as you went back to CatCo, and Kara spent the rest of the day coming around your desk to make small talk or check up on you and your work. Helping you schedule some meetings for Cat since you were confused on whether or not to cancel the lunch appointments with her mother and her therapist if Cat was in a good mood, a situation that Kara knew perfectly.
And after many hours you were all alone in the office doing the last bit of extra work, or at least you thought that Kara had gone home or maybe to attend a Supergirl emergency. You hadn't seen her in a couple hours so you just assumed that.
"Hey, want me to give you a ride home?" She appeared in front of you, almost making you teleport yourself somewhere else, but thankfully you only flinched.
Looking at her you noticed she was wearing the suit, making her muscles look oh so wonderful and her powerful stance just made you feel so small yet so protected just by the sight of her. And you kept trying so hard to not let your gaze stay fixated on the 'House of El' plated on her chest.
"Uhm- It's alright. I can take a bus. Well I usually walk but it's fine." You smiled nervously as you stuffed several documents inside your bag, getting up quickly after closing your laptop and putting it in your bag too.
"Y/n... It's midnight. It's dangerous for you to walk home this late. Let me take you. Also you should consider taking a break sometimes, extra work can be really overwhelming." You furrowed your brows in confusion as your head snapped towards the analogue clock on the wall, gasping as you saw that it was indeed midnight.
"Shit- I'm sorry. You must be so busy especially if you're-"
"It's fine." She interrupted you. "I just stopped a bank robbery and the cops are dealing with the rest. You know I can fly you home in a second, just give me the directions." She smirked while she extended her hand to you, pulling you into a strong embrace as soon as you held her hand in yours. The tall blonde holding you close to her chest by your waist as if you weighed merely a few grams. Then she flew, you noticed she wasn't going as fast as she usually would, assuming it was mostly to not freak you out; which you thanked.
You gave her directions on the go and she looked more and more confused, especially when you two finally arrived. Landing on the rooftop of the building she looked around, making sure no one was there. "I live here." She spoke softly after a few seconds.
"So do I." You admitted, embarrassed, scratching the back of your neck while your gaze averted hers.
"How come I never noticed you around?" She was slightly defensive now.
"I don't know, well, you usually come into the office way later than me and I always stay extra hours or walk around the city when I don't want to get home..."
"I've never heard your voice."
"I don't have anyone to talk to here. I just deal with emails and work stuff." Kara stared at you, and apparently her super hearing was good with your response because she could tell you weren't really lying.
"Let's get you to your apartment then. Sorry if I was mean... Ever since I told the world I'm Supergirl I've been afraid of people trying to come for my home or family..." You just nodded and gave her a soft smile as the two of you walked downstairs to your floor, Kara's eyes bulging out as she noticed you lived literally next door from her.
You laughed awkwardly and the two of you concluded it was all due to your different schedules, so completely not because of you purposely avoiding Kara.
She then offered to give you some leftovers from her dinner, which you gladly accepted because at the moment you just felt both tired and hungry and not in the mood for cooking. She let you go into her apartment as she looked for a Tupperware to give you the food in. You just looked around, your heart beating fast as you saw all the little details of her home, things that you missed seeing on screen after the show ended.
"Here you go. If you need anything you know I've got super hearing." She smiled, handing you the container with leftovers and you thanked her to then leave before the excitement got the best of you.
You just hoped that once it was time to tell her the truth she'd react... Nicely. You knew Kara always wanted to see the best of everyone. But you weren't sure of what good she could see in you.
A thing about Imps was that everyone was spoiled, awful people in general. The only way to humble down an Imp was the typical 'make them say their name backwards', or strip them from their power somehow. You knew you weren't that bad, but you surely had that evilness in your genes. That sense of being able to rule the universe if you desired to do so, even with the current rules around magic. All you had to do was to work smarter, not harder. Nyxly (and Lex) flew too close to the sun, that's why she ended up back in the phantom zone, but when carefully planned an Imp can take over several planets, even galaxies. Although most would conform with a high status and being filthy rich, partying everyday and just straight up humiliating anyone who tries to go against them.
How could you be so different if that's all you've ever known? Watching interdimensional shows was your way of feeling connected to something actually good, but you knew well that many things that would be considered normal back in the fifth dimension are completely immoral or straight up madness in many other dimensions and earths. And although you didn't miss any of it, you did however feel homesick. Just watching everything through your orb all day was way easier than trying to fit in a world where all you could do was lie to be accepted.
You always wished you could've been born in this dimension, maybe that way your life would be not easier, but more enjoyable. Having the power to manipulate pretty much everything made life boring, there was nothing new to discover, nothing new to explore. Magic could definitely be boring.
Sighing you put Kara's Tupperware in the sink and walked to your bed, not even bothering about getting changed. Sleeping still felt weird, having your own memories or random scenarios going through your brain like a movie was just something so... Frightening. Life as a "human" was frightening.
[...]
A few weeks passed by and you were slowly opening up to Kara, mostly about job stuff because that's all you had to talk about, and it felt odd.
Kara kept trying to include you more and more in her friend group, especially since Nia and Brainy also enjoyed your company, and even if you wished to spend all day with them, what stopped you was that Cat suddenly had started overworking you. Giving you too many things at once, which you could usually handle but for some reason she kept pushing it more and more, and every day she got meaner and meaner towards you.
It's not like you haven't experienced meanness ever in your life, but it hurt so deeply, especially since you were so tired and couldn't even use your powers to get everything done within a second. And it just felt like you weren't good enough for the job either way, nor for this life. Maybe Mxyzptlk could help you get back home without being arrested, right?
Right?
You started going on autopilot for that whole week, maybe two? Not even knowing what day or time of the day you were in, all you knew was to schedule meetings in Cat's calendar, edit her articles, make calls, classify documents, attend Carter's PTA meetings, deal with Cat's mother, the list could go on forever.
You didn't even realize you were starting to show symptoms of burnout until you found yourself inside of your bathroom in the middle of the night, sitting on the floor, and the office noise that was in loop in your head finally went away.
Said noise that you didn't even realize was there until it was gone. The voices, the phones ringing, the yelling, the sound of papers getting signed and chairs moving all around the floor: It was all gone, it'd only be just for a few hours, but it was.
And that's when you crumbled. It felt so pathetic to cry in the bathroom like this but you couldn't help it. Everything was too much. Your life, trying to befriend Kara, work, Mxyzptlk, all of it.
At this point you were sobbing loudly, only trying to contain your sobs and whimpers with your own hands as you remembered Kara was probably sleeping and you didn't want to trigger her super hearing.
After a few minutes the door was suddenly kicked open, revealing Kara in a fighting stance in front of it.
"Y/n! Are you okay?" She looked at you and approached you immediately, you couldn't even look at her, feeling guilty for saying yes to all of this.
Kara furrowed her brows when all the response you gave her was just to sob harder.
"I'm tired..." You finally spoke in between hiccups.
"Tired? Is there anything I can do to help you?" She gently rubbed her hand against your shoulder.
"I... I regret coming here... I miss my home and my parents and-" You interrupted yourself by sniffing rather loudly. "I don't want to work anymore but I need the money and I can't go back home and if I did I'd be in trouble and I don't want to be in trouble..." You started rambling and babbling as your crying got even more intense and all Kara could do was hug you, letting you cry on her shoulder although she did not fully understand your situation.
"I'm- Y/n... I'm so sorry, I didn't know you felt like this..." Kara whispered after several minutes of letting you cry while she was completely silent.
After a while you managed to calm yourself down, still hiccuping and sniffling as you got up from the floor with Kara's help. She looked around the bathroom and immediately went for the cabinet under your sink, getting a box of tissues from it.
"H-How did you- Ah, yes... Supervision." You answered your own question as you thanked her and accepted the box, taking one tissue out and blowing your nose with it. You walked out of the bathroom followed by Kara and the two of you sat down on the only couch you had in your living room.
"I feel pathetic... I was fine at home but I got greedy..." You spoke after a few minutes went by, pulling up your legs up to your chest and hugging them to give yourself more comfort.
"You're not pathetic! I don't know your situation completely but... I know you're not pathetic, nor greedy. Sometimes we pursue our dreams blind to the consequences, and that doesn't make us greedy." The blonde gave you a sweet look from her blue eyes and wrapped a hand around your shoulders, pulling you into a hug and holding you close to her chest. "When I decided I wanted to be Supergirl... A part of me would've said no if I knew what I would have to go through to be where I am today..."
"It must've been hard..." You whispered, your mind wondering whether it'd be good to tell her the truth or not at that moment. "I... I don't really want to share the whole story yet. But you could say I'm not... From this country...? Technically? And I'd face legal consequences if I went back home... I got to this place thanks to a family friend who helped me out."
"I promise your secret is safe with me. After all, mine was kept easily with a pair of glasses and a pony tail." She whispered while grabbing you softly by the chin to make you look at her, a precious grin plastered all over her face that made you smile too.
You could've sworn you felt like a magnetic force was pulling you towards her and her beautiful pink tinted lips, your heartbeat speeding up when you noticed she was leaning in too. Both of you caught in the moment until you heard a meow coming from your door.
Gently getting Kara out of your view with a slight push on her shoulder you saw a very skinny black cat with blue eyes at your door.
"Did you break my door?" You asked while carefully approaching the cat that just meowed again and made its way towards you.
"I thought you were in danger." The Kryptonian admitted, giving you a repentant look. "I'll call a locksmith right away. I'll pay for it, don't worry."
The cat started rubbing his whole body on your leg, purring as he apparently liked you.
"Aight..." You picked up the cat in your arms, smiling as he kept purring. "Hello, little fella." You pet the animal with one hand while holding him with your other arm, turning around to face Kara. "Does the landlord allow pets?"
"I don't know... As long as you don't get caught?" She shrugged while approaching you. "He looks like my childhood cat, Streaky." The blonde smiled and petted the cat who rubbed its head against her hand.
"Then his name is Streaky now. Or her name. I think Streaky is pretty gender neutral." You let the cat back onto the floor and went to the fridge to find something to feed him, only finding a can of sardines you have been avoiding to eat, perfect.
You struggled to open the can, even with the easy open, your back facing Kara as she walked up to you, taking the can from your hands and opening it in half a second.
"I can also open jars." She gave you a cocky grin that made you chuckle. Pouring out the contents of the can on a plate that you put on the floor, Streaky ran towards it and ate everything as quickly as his little tummy let him.
"You two can spend the night at my place while the locksmith gets here and fixes the door. I'll make sure no one goes into your house, I promise." You thought about it for a second but accepted quickly, waiting for the cat to finish eating to then take him to Kara's apartment.
You set the cat free inside Kara's home, watching him from the corner of your eye as he seemed to examine the place, finally stopping at the couch to take a nap.
"You're really going to name him Streaky?" The blonde asked shyly while closing her door, she had been outside for a minute since she was calling a local locksmith that she knew worked nights to come fix your front door and the bathroom door too.
"Yeah... If you're okay with it?" You turned to face her, noticing again that beautiful shine in her eyes that you could get lost in.
"Y-Yes! I am, well you can name your cat anything you'd like, it's not my choice-" The taller woman stopped herself when she noticed she had started rambling. "I think it's nice of you to do that."
"I'm just bad at picking names. I had a pet rock once and I named it Brock... Because it rhymes with rock." You admitted embarrassingly, it was one of the few memories you had of your childhood. You didn't like summoning animals since it felt like you were forcing them to be your friends, and your parents never liked animals either way. They would've disappeared any pets you brought home in an instant.
"Really?" She chuckled. "And was he a good boy?" The blonde joked as she sat down on the couch next to Streaky, petting him softly in his sleep.
"The best! I wasn't really allowed to have pets so I got creative. I would paint him with markers to give him little outfits every day. And I'd imagine how it'd be if he was alive..." You sat down next to Kara, the cat sleeping calmly in between the two of you.
"What happened to Brock, did you just grow out of it?" She put her arm on the back of the couch behind you, her body facing you.
"Uhm... Kind of. My dad was pretty strict and one day I got grounded and he threw the rock out the window. After that I just stuck to watching TV all day."
"Oh... I'm sorry about that... Well I know it wasn't like a real pet, but it still had sentimental value." She gave you a sad look while placing her hand on your knee.
"Oh- It's okay, well, I never thought much of it. My dad always said creativity is not useful unless you're smart with it, and I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, if you get me." You laughed slightly, and when Kara gave you a worried look you noticed it was a cultural shock for the two of you. In the fifth dimension unless you were a man creativity was seen as a weakness. Nothing good would come out of your imagination if you weren't smart enough to use it for your own benefit, and most of those benefits weren't legal for Imp women in the dimension thanks to King Brpxz. Many women would get married out of desperation to travel through dimensions and then send their spouses back with trickery, it became such a big problem that the supreme court had to determine through exhaustive tests whether a couple was allowed to marry or not.
"No! I mean- No disrespect to your father. But creativity is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Also you're very smart, you have been handling Cat flawlessly and that requires a lot of skill and intelligence." Kara held both your hands in hers, giving you a reassuring smile.
"Thank you... I, uh..." Your gaze was shifting between her lips and her eyes at such a quick pace you felt like you were seeing both at the same time. Your confidence to take that leap of faith was nowhere to be seen this time, especially when someone knocked on Kara's door, announcing they were the locksmith and Kara had to get up to explain to them what happened, well not everything but just what the door went through.
Letting out a long sigh you took Streaky in your arms, laying down on the couch as if it were a bed, feeling your body heavy with tiredness. The feline immediately went back to sleeping after a minute, laying on your chest while you pet his back gently. Your eyelids got heavier with each breath you took until you completely surrendered to your tired brain.

Entropy (part 2)
content: slow burn ? but not really , hurt/comfort , eventual romance , wlw , kara x reader , reader needs therapy , reader is very socially anxious lmao
word count: 2,033
pair(s): Kara x Fifth Dimensional Imp!Reader, and all the other canon SG couples (Nia and Brainy, Kelly and Alex, etc)
A/N: it took a bit to edit this one, i have many parts written already they just need some adjustments:) thanks for the likes and reblogs!! it's nice to see this in my very first fanfic, English isn't my native language so if I make any mistakes that may be why
this part is more cutesy and a bit shorter !
Also happy pride month everyone:)
part 1 here
Mxyzptlk left you in a really bad space mentally, you were trying to focus on work but the only thing in your head was how permanent this change was. You thought you could just somehow return to the fifth dimension if anything went wrong, but apparently you were trapped in here for Brpxz knows how long.
Kara was the one who took you out of your thoughts by waving her hand in front of your face. "Hey, are you okay?" She looked at you worried, making your heartbeat speed up like earlier today.
"Uhm- I- Yes! I just... Got some bad news from a family friend but that is all, don't worry." You smiled nervously as you ate the very last bite of your cake desperately and threw the small plastic container into your trash can.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry... It's just that me, Nia, and.. Barney- We're going to get some sushi, and since those two will be kinda like on a date I was wondering if you'd want to make me some company? I promise I'll tell Cat you were with me. It can help you clear your mind a little bit" She pointed to the man standing right by her, just a few inches shorter, and your eyes almost popped out of your face. IT WAS BRAINY! You haven't even seen him during your stay in this dimension, and you barely expected to do so but you admired him so much too. You could barely speak, just nodding as you had to take any chance to be around the superfriends, especially Kara.
Giving Kara a wry smile you got up and grabbed your purse. Brainy went to Kara's office to wake Nia up, she just looked distraught and they had a short conversation while you wondered if she'd be able to dream about you and Mxyzptlk as you glared at them from your desk, Kara's voice getting you out of your thoughts.
"They're such a cute couple aren't they?" She smiled as she eyed them then you, making you tremble.
"Oh- Well I'm not close to Miss Nal but it seems like they're really happy together." You managed to slur out as you just walked to the elevator, Kara following you.
"Hey, there's no need for formalities around us, well I know Nia would prefer it if you call her by her name, and same with me. You can call me Kara." She reassured you as you just smiled shyly and nodded again. God it'd be so hard to even get yourself to have a decent conversation with this woman. Brainy and Nia joined the two of you shortly after, they held hands and beamed at you when the elevator arrived and all four of you stepped in.
"Oh! Forgot to introduce you, Nia, Barney, this is Cat's assistant..." Kara froze for a second, realizing she didn't really remember your name, she did remember what your boss called you, but she also knew damn well that wasn't your actual name, so she just stared at you somewhat embarrassed for not even knowing your actual name.
"Uh- Y/n-kz-'' You bite your tongue, almost slipping your actual name. But tried to distract them from it with a slight cough. "Y/n. Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you two, well, I already knew Miss Nal- Nia, but it's still a pleasure." You shook both their hands and just stood awkwardly in the corner as the trio chatted joyfully. A part of you thinking about just staying inside whenever they got off, they wouldn't notice and just go on about their day without you. Yes it was definitely a plan.
Until Kara intertwined her arm with yours.
"So the sushi restaurant is like a bit of a hidden spot so it's easy to get lost and from what I can remember you're new here right? Not only to CatCo but to the city." She looked at you with that pearly white smile of hers.
"Uhm- Yes. I am new to National City... It's like... A whole new dimension to me." You took your eyes off Kara and set them on Brainy's hair since he and Nia were walking in front of you. Damn you'll need to ask for his hair routine.
"I get that. Well, you may know why." She snorted and laughed. "Where are you from? Well, after Krypton, I grew up in Midvale, it was nice. Then I came here for university and the rest is history."
"I'm from-" Your brain freezes as you try to remember more of the fake story Mxyzptlk had built up for you to pass as a normal human. "I grew up in a really, really small town, you probably wouldn't know it. Then I moved to Metropolis but things were always too... Wild? There. So I decided to shoot my shot here since Jump City seemed too extreme too."
"Oh! Metropolis, so did you work at The Daily Planet?"
"No- It's my first time in a company this big, I was a- Uh... Secretary? For a small business though. But this job has been very helpful in teaching me new things."
"Oh..." She looked at you for a second as you caught her gaze from the corner of your eye. "That sounds great, it really looks like you got the hang of it already, if anything I can see you as the next junior reporter next year- Oh, look! We're here! You're gonna love this place."
Was it too late to tell her you've never had sushi? Well, you didn't know if you'd like it, you had only seen it in movies and shows but never got the curiosity to try it so you never did. Restaurants aren't really a thing in a dimension where you can summon anything with a snap of your fingers.
As soon as you got in, Kara was greeted by several waiters and the four of you were given a private booth to eat, your head looking around at the beautiful decorations all around the place.
"Y/n? What would you like to order? The waiter will probably be here any minute." Nia spoke, suddenly getting your view out of the menu, which left you confused as to how humans could spend so much on meals. You weren't poor, but Mxyzptlk didn't give you much money either, so you were kinda on a budget, especially since you started getting your salary from CatCo. The whole concept of money had always been so weird to you, well it seemed similar to how monarchy had always more power and magic, but it was all still weird.
"I think I'll go for... This one." You pointed at the cheapest roll available, Kara peeked from her seat right by your side, looking at your choice.
"Only that? Don't worry! It's on me. You can pick any rolls you'd like, and drinks too." She reassured you with a little spark in her icy blue eyes, making you shiver completely as you nodded.
After a bit of thinking you went for the non-sushi options, especially since you were afraid of not knowing which ones were spicy, you weren't going to risk it. Picking a meal of tempura shrimp and vegetables. Kara, noticing your fear of trying new flavors, whispered something to your ear.
"If you'd like to try anything you can take it from my plate, and if you like it you can order it." Her breath soft against your ears, you just squealed very softly and gave her a quick nod.
[...]
Best. Meal. Ever.
Kara and you ended up just pretty much sharing food and gave each other whatever you felt the other would like, plus the food and ambient of the place were amazing, it almost felt like a double date. For the first time in years you felt like you truly belonged somewhere, at least for an hour or two.
"And then he started yelling at me! All because I complimented his bald head." Brainy finished his anecdote about his first meeting with General Lane, who you totally forgot about since he hadn't been on the show since season two or something.
"I didn't know Lois Lane had a father in the military." You lied as you sipped your drink through the straw.
"And a sister." Kara responded whilst rolling her eyes. "She's hot though."
"Lois or her sister?" You arched a brow and bit on the straw with a smirk.
"Lucy. A hundred percent. Lois is cute but I won't be caught dead thirsting over my cousin's wife." She smirked back and then both of you looked at Nia who spoke up.
"I will. Lois Lane is an absolute milf." She confessed with a playful smile, to which both Brainy and you looked confused, but Kara knew exactly what she meant because she choked for a second on her drink.
"NIA!" She bursted out in laugh as she held her own stomach. So did Nia.
"Speaking of Lois, how's your little cousin? Well, maybe he sees you more like an aunt. I don't know." Nia finally asked what you didn't dare to ask, honestly wondering what had been of those two because you haven't seen them on screen for ages.
"Oh! They're in Argo City, they want Jonathan to grow up around Kryptonian culture and all that. I'm planning on visiting them this summer, basically to take some time off and see my parents too." She seemed so happy when speaking about her family, that made you know so well how much they loved her and she loved them. "Oh and Alex, Kelly and Esme will be coming too! I want Esme to meet my parents. And Alex will totally love Argo." Kara beamed as she ate the last roll on her plate and then looked at you, remembering how Argo City wasn't really a known topic amongst the public. You faked a confused expression, hoping the group would buy it.
"So Argo is like a city of Krypton that survived destruction and visiting it is like going to the middle of nowhere, but in space, from what I've heard." Nia clarified your doubt and you just hummed with a nod. It was hard to pretend you didn't know all of this already but it was nice to have a recap every now and then.
All four of you were having a nice relaxing chat until Nia's phone rang, it was an alarm apparently.
"Oh god, I have an exclusive interview with the governor in thirty minutes, see you later guys. Kara I'll venmo you my part of the bill. Bye, love." Nia got up hurriedly and pecked Brainy on the lips before running out of the restaurant.
"I should get going too, I have... Work." Brainy looked at you realizing he couldn't really spill anything about the DEO in front of you, at least not yet. He felt like he knew you from somewhere but he couldn't quite place his finger on it.
"Okay! Take care." Kara waved both of them happily, giving that perfect smile of hers as she just still sat by your side.
Neither of you knew what to do now, but the silence was comfortable.
"D'you want some dessert?" Kara finally spoke after a couple of minutes.
"Only if it's chocolate. Or a cheesecake." You joked but apparently she was dead serious because in a few minutes a huge slice of cheesecake arrived for both of you.
"We're sharing this as a symbol for a long friendship. Because I have the feeling we'll be good friends." She announced as she handed you a spoon and the waiter came back with two small sauce packets, both of them were strawberry syrup.
You smiled as you took the first bite out of the dessert, moaning as the sweetness melted on your tongue, Kara looked at you with red on her cheeks and you just covered your mouth with your hand as you kept chewing.
"I'm- I'm soffy- It's just so goof-" You swallowed and both of you started laughing just to get in a small competition on who could eat more cheesecake. And Kara clearly won.

Entropy (part 1)
pair(s): Kara x Fifth Dimensional Imp!Reader, and all the other canon SG couples (Nia and Brainy, Kelly and Alex, etc)
content: slow burn ? but not really , hurt/comfort , eventual romance , wlw , kara x reader , reader needs therapy , reader is very socially anxious lmao
word count: 3,405
A/N: basically this whole thing is my HC's about the fifth dimension, mostly because of how vaguely it gets portrayed in supergirl! so yeah none of this is canon, I'm just making some stuff up as i go. I'd say that in my HCs the fifth dimension views the many earths as tv shows (like we see them, let's say), and maybe that's how Mxy found out about Kara in the first place! Also reader is fem presenting and uses She/Her pronouns!
As Cat Grant's new assistant, life wasn't easy, but you pulled through either way. You weren't Kara Danvers' assistant but Cat basically made you organize both schedules and bring her coffee even though Kara tried to reject it, she just didn't really like bossing people around, but as the new Editor in Chief of CatCo she needed to realize that she couldn't do everything on her own. Especially now that her secret was out there in the open.
You were Supergirl's biggest fan, watching her on TV and her adventures and her life for years. A while ago, a part of you just wished you could live in her dimension and be around her, especially after the finale of the show left you so unsatisfied. The fifth dimension has always been so boring, for some it's mind blowing and amazing, but as an Imp living by yourself in such a patriarchal society: it wasn't the best. And the third dimension just seemed so much easier, especially if you could use your magic to fix a few things here and there. However, migration laws were very strict unless you were married. And there was no way you'd marry some random guy for the rest of the eternity just to travel to another dimension. Your day-to-day activities were getting monotone and boring, your magic even seemed to weaken as your hopes and joy dissipated with each week passing by. Your parents always cared for you deeply, but they didn't understand you just wanted true freedom. If anything you wished Princess Nyxlygsptlnz could've gotten the AllStone totems and finally overthrow King Brpxz, this dimension really needed a new governor, but sure Kara didn't see that. All she was focused on was in stopping Nyxly, not questioning what she wanted the totems for.
But you still admired her and her adventures, ever since she came to earth her life was basically a reality show for the fifth dimension, you were surprised when Mxyzptlk appeared in season two. Everyone knew him, he was kinda like a celebrity but not the good kind. You immediately realized he even changed his appearance to woo Kara into falling for him, he was definitely the product of this ugly environment. It made you so happy to see how Kara defeated him by making him write his name backwards in Kryptonian. And then he appeared... Again? Now he was a good guy, good for him, sure. But something just made you feel so jealous. The fact that he got to freely travel around any dimensions like any other male Imp can, you just wished you were better at magic so you could at least fool some guards to leave. You felt hopeless for so long...
That until one night you were sitting on the floor in your living room, rewatching Supergirl, a wish came out of your mouth softly.
"I wish I could meet Kara..." You whispered as the intro of the show played in your giant orb. Usually your mumbles and whispers would go unnoticed by your family, and this one did, but something else noticed it. A bright blue light flooded the room, making you teleport to behind your couch immediately. When the light softened you peeked your head, glaring at the orb that was now just glowing with many little blue lights dancing inside of it, like they wanted to escape. You sat back down and took a deep breath.
"What are we hiding from?" You heard a familiar voice by your side, scaring the living crap out of you.
Yelling you immediately teleported back to where you were sitting, the unknown man got up, finally revealing himself.
"Hi! I'm Mxyzptlk, but my friends call me Mxy." He gave you a mischievous smile and handed you a small card.
"DUDE FUCK YOU!" You pushed him away, still terrified as you ran to the kitchen to get your parents.
"HEY! Mind your manners! I was just driving by the neighborhood and heard a pure hearted wish, and who am I to deny a wish to someone so awesome?" He was now sitting on the kitchen counter, eating an apple as he spoke to you.
"What do you want from me? Huh?" You walked backwards until you were back at the kitchen door, not taking your eyes off of him.
"So... My friend, Kara Danvers. She needs help, not urgent help, but she needs... A new perspective. Lena Luthor left to find more about her mom and practice magic, so Kara is really lonely, and her life isn't going really well. She just needs a new someone in her life, even if it's just a friend." His words were confusing, was he trying to be a wingman for you?
"How the fuck do you know me-"
"Language!" He spoke from behind you, making you turn around to face him. "So I'm friends with you dad and he keeps complaining about how you can't find a good husband and other stuff. My past self would've helped him, but instead I want to help you. As you may know I can travel through dimensions freely, so, I want to give you a chance. And I know you're a Supergirl fan." He mischievously pointed to the paused episode in your orb. You knew Mxyzptlk had changed over the years, but you still were unsure.
"What am I supposed to do? Once I get to the third dimension?" You asked hesitantly as you walked back to the living room, staring at your orb.
"So... You can't use your magic-" Your head snapped towards him, was he serious? If anything you needed your magic there! It was way more powerful in lower dimensions.
"Nope. Declined." You plopped down on your couch, crossing your arms over your chest as he sat down right by your side.
"Listen! Kara's friends can track fifth dimensional energy. If they find you like that they'll think you're like Nyxly or something and you'll be in trouble." You gave him a mean side eye as you thought about it. "I'll make some arrangements and find you a Job at CatCo and a nice apartment at Kara's building. If you want to, you can later tell her the truth, but she really needs something new in her life, and I think it'd benefit both you and her." He held your hands in his, giving you puppy eyes which made you creep out and snap your hands out of his grasp.
"And how do I know you're the real Mxyzptlk and not some scammer?" You cocked an eyebrow at him.
"I guess you'll just have to trust me." He gave you a smile and you rolled your eyes, just trying to recall how to say your own name backwards just in case this freak was an imposter. You knew your dad was acquaintances with Mxy back in his bad years but you never thought they were that close.
"Fine." You shook his hand and in that moment your orb glowed again, forcing you to close your eyes, and when you opened them you suddenly were all by yourself in an apartment, very similar to Kara's but yours was decorated in a more cold color palette (mostly blues and purples). And you had way less furniture. Still shocked, not knowing how you could check whether or not this was the third dimension you walked around, it sure was made to your liking, although it needed some more furniture. Taking a deep breath you felt the fifth dimension stronger than ever, yes, this was it. Excitedly you self toured your apartment, finding everything unpacked as if you've been living here for months already, except for a few boxes all around the house, to give the impression that you were a brand new neighbor. And a handwritten note by Mxyzptlk on the front door.
"Kara is your next door neighbor, and you'll have a job interview at CatCo tomorrow, good luck. :) -Mxy"
Your smile grew bigger as you finally got the new life you've been begging for so long.
[Now back to the present]
After three months on the third dimension one thing was sure: You were tired. Not being able to use your magic meant a lot of walking and a lot of carrying things around, but you were getting the hang of it. Although you haven't mustered the courage to take any steps with Kara. You could usually hear her and her friends having fun on game night or whenever she sobbed loudly while watching Wizard of Oz, but she never realized you were her neighbor. And at work it was pretty much the same, she'd just say 'Hi', 'Thanks' 'Goodbye' to you, she didn't even know your name. Most of your day to day conversations were with Cat Grant, who didn't even get your name right, but she was sweet deep inside. She even reminded you of your own mother. And by now you knew her favorite meals and every single specification about them, and you also knew Kara's favorite coffee but you weren't going to reveal you knew that one from 'the show'.
Your day-to-day now was basically just staring at Kara from your desk and sketching little drawings of her face or daily outfits on post-it notes that you kept underneath your keyboard. And that's what you were doing until Cat sneaked behind you and almost made you fall off your chair.
"Oh, so you're an artist?" She spoke loudly as she leaned over to have a better view of your little sketch.
"Miss Grant!" You yelped, turning your chair around so it'd block the view from your computer. "Is there anything I can help you with?" Your heart was beating loudly while you stared at the woman who was towering over you while squinting her eyes.
"You have a crush on Kara? Woah, what a shocker." She rolled her eyes as she walked to the new office that was built just for her weeks ago, right where the superfriends used to meet in season one.
You immediately got up and nervously walked behind her, you knew nothing escaped Cat, you saw how she knew all along Kara's identity, but you didn't expect this to happen to you.
"No, no- Miss Grant, I just usually draw what I see, it's a hobby, I've even drawn you and other colleagues here and not only Miss Danvers. I even draw animals sometimes!"
She stopped on her tracks, making you accidentally bump against her back. You quickly took two steps back and began apologizing profusely until she raised a finger, a clear signal for you to shut up.
"I'll help you. Kara needs someone. If only you could hear how she whines for that Luthor girl you'd go crazy. Plus from what I've seen you have a nice personality. And you're not ugly... I'll see what I can do for you, now bring me a cheeseburger from Noonan's. I'm giving myself a treat for being so generous." You silently nodded as she gave you a company credit card, your whole face blushing while you walked to the elevator. Said elevator was about to close when you heard a woman yell for someone to stop it, so you did. And you realized how bad your luck could get, because out of ALL the people in this office it had to be Kara Danvers the one inside the elevator with you.
You tried to play it cool as you stared at the panel in front of you, trying to not attract her attention.
"Did Cat send you on a random quest?" She spoke cheerfully after a couple seconds, making your heart race again.
"Yeah- No-... I mean- Kind of...? She wants a cheeseburger."
"No onions, extra pickles, and just a tiny dot of mustard right in the middle-" You both spoke at the same time, then stared at each other silently. That until Kara broke the silence with the most beautiful laughter you've ever heard, so much it made you laugh too.
"You're great, it took me a bit to memorize all that." She complimented you as she gave you a bright smile.
"Thanks... It's good to hear that from Miss Danvers herself, you were a hero before being Supergirl just by working for Cat." Now you fired back, also smiling at her as you felt butterflies flying though all of your body.
"I have to admit, Lex Luthor was easier to deal with." She joked as the elevator doors opened, making you realize the nice moment was over, it made your smile fade slightly as you both hopped off. You just waved at Kara as you took a step towards the restaurant. "Uhm- Actually, I was going to get lunch for myself, if you want I can get you something too." She stopped you by putting her hand on your shoulder.
"Oh no! There's no need, I don't-"
"C'mon! I can give you more Cat Tips, I invented them when I found Cat the first replacement assistants." She gave you that sweet smile again, almost making you melt and you just nodded. The two of you got to Noonan's quickly and it was fairly empty, which was good because usually you knew people would just get all around Kara to ask her questions, but now it was just you two, maybe six to seven people eating on their respective tables, and the workers.
"I'd like a dozen donuts and my regular coffee and for the lady right here..." She turned around to you, making you snap back to reality.
"U-Uh... A slice of chocolate cake will be fine." You gave her a wobbly smile as you fidgeted with the credit card in your hand.
"Are you sure? Please don't worry, it's all on me. Or maybe we can order some sushi? Nia told me she was craving some..."
"I- I'll order Cat's food and then we can go from there." You took her out of her thoughts, she just nodded while you turned around to the worker and placed Cat's order, which was ready almost instantly along with Kara's and your cake slice, all to go.
The two of you kept making small talk as you headed back to the office, you felt bad having to excuse yourself but you knew Cat Grant cannot wait.
"Here's your food Miss Grant." You put the paper bag on her desk and as you were walking out you heard her voice again.
"W/n. Where's my drink? I clearly asked you for a sparkling water." No she didn't, but you felt your face go pale as you remembered she had specific drinks for each food item. If you weren't so distracted by Kara maybe you would have remembered that, but now you only had two options: Owning up to your mistakes or... No. You couldn't do that. If you did there was a very high risk of the superfriends finding you and thinking you may be hostile. Or maybe the DEO, you didn't knew if it was already built back yet.
Either way it was risky... But it was just sparkling water, how much magic would you need for that? Probably the slightest bit, and maybe it'd go unnoticed by their sensors. Plus if you got fired you didn't want it to be over water. Breathing deep you snapped your fingers softly, the sparkling water appearing on your hands with a blue shine right before you turned around.
"Sorry! I was so distracted I forgot to hand it to you." You smiled nervously as you gave the woman the plastic bottle which she examined briefly, giving you a quick hand gesture which meant you were free to go now. That was definitely a stressful moment, but since you didn't see any of the superfriends around the building other than Kara chatting with Nia at her office you felt safe. Maybe this meant you could do some other tricks here and there, you just had to be careful, right?
[Meanwhile in the tower.]
Brainy was simply checking that everything was alright that day, then he'd go to buy Nia some lunch and take it to CatCo, an easy plan right? Unless something like the little alert on his screen ruined it.
"Hey, has anybody talked to Mxy lately?" Brainy turned on his comm device, sending the message to everyone.
He just got negative responses from everyone, which made him even more worried, this spark of fifth dimensional energy seemed so powerful yet it was so brief. Like it had been charging for a long time waiting to be let loose. And that wasn't a good sign, especially without Mxyzptlk around.
"I got a fifth dimensional energy signal coming from... CatCo. Nia, Kara I'm on my way, try searching the building but silently, we don't want to cause panic." He immediately turned on his image inductor and flew to CatCo, landing on the heliport and being greeted by his blonde friend.
"I searched the whole building, twice, and didn't find anything. Nia is in my office trying to see if she can dream about who's our fifth dimensional suspect." Kara was unconsciously doing the Supergirl pose although she was still wearing her usual office clothes, her face scrunched in worry.
"Okay... We need to see if it was Mxy, so we need to-"
"Mr. Mxyzptlk!" Kara yelled into the sky above, and the man appeared right beside them.
"You don't need to yell, bestie. I'm literally right here." He pretended to clean his ear with his pinky as he turned around to see Kara and Querl.
"We got a fifth dimensional energy signal here in CatCo. Was it you?" Brainy asked still deadpanning Mxyzptlk as the Imp's face seemed to go pale.
"Uh- Yeah! Of course. I was about to give Kara a visit but I saw how busy she was so I just left immediately. I was actually on my way back to the fifth dimension. My mom hasn't seen her favorite son in a while. Goodbye!" The man didn't even let them speak before snapping his fingers and disappearing, leaving both Kara and Brainy really confused yet somehow relieved by the fact the energy wasn't anything dangerous, allegedly.
"Kara... I think he's lying. It wasn't like his usual energy. This was a spark of colossal fifth dimensional energy, something like turning a switch on and off very quickly, usually Mxyzptlk hangs around leaving large trails of fifth dimensional energy, this isn't like him."
"We'll get to the bottom of this, I promise. Meanwhile... I think Nia may be hungry, what if we all go to eat something?" Kara suggested, laying her hand on the man's shoulder as he still looked unsure about the whole situation, but the Coluan just nodded, following Kara back to her office.
[...]
You sat down on your desk eating the slice of cake Kara had bought for you, smiling as you felt like your day was getting slightly better, especially since Cat Grant hasn't had the need to yell your name in the past thirty minutes or so. You finally felt like your life was going smoothly. Maybe Mxyzptlk was really a good man. Closing your eyes while enjoying one of the last bites of your cake you opened them just to find yourself sitting inside a broom closet. Confused, you immediately got up and looked around in the darkness until someone turned on the lights.
"I told you not to use your magic!" It had to be him.
"Hey! Don't yell at me! I wasn't using my magic, I was just eating my cake, which if you excuse me I might buy myself another slice." You tried to open the door but it was locked. "Mxyzptlk..." Looking back at him he just gave you a worried look.
"Please, Y/n. Don't use your magic until you gain Kara's trust. That's all I ask you for, especially since you could literally go to jail-" He then covered his own mouth, and turned around, his back facing you.
"WHAT- JAIL?!" Your jaw was on the floor, he surely had some explaining to do.
"Okay so- Maybe I... Broughtyouhereillegallysoifthesupremecourtfindsoutyou'reherewebothmayendupinjailandthatwouldn'tbereallynice-" He finished his sentence by gasping for air loudly, then he snapped his fingers and suddenly you were back on your desk, your mind still wondering how the fuck did you get into all this.
