#a doodley #i dont know what happened. some of these are from so little ago and i cant do em anymore #i used to take full color full body couple comms now i cant even draw oc self ship interactions anymore.#granted the comms werent that good either but ykwim i cant even do it for leisure anymore #and its also so weird when i look at my old stuff that i always have like. non linear improvement. it rises and falls all the time #thats not good! why cant i Keep what i learn! and why does Learning make my art worse when im trying to make it better....#its crazy seeing how well i could draw faces (sometimes) before i started studying faces. now they rarely look as good.#alas. once again i feel im the result of a non artist forcing their way to it ykwim #an equivalent of a land mammal trying to live underwater

#no reposting #ok ramble time because i have some Thoughts #subject to change..#okay so like #Barney is a few things. imo. one he's s good leader and protector. two hes a creature of habit.#Barney has always kind of stuck in one area of work.. from security guard to civil protection officer to white forest sentry #hell even as a field commander during the uprising half of his combat is essentially point defense and backing Gordon up #which like yeah thats just gameplay stuff but this is an intentional reading of his character so just. shh #anyways #Barney never really stops being some kind of guard. the context in which he operates changes of course but its still the same general role #maybe its a subconscious attempt at maintaining normalcy. maybe its just all he feels hes good at. regardless its what he does.#and its what he continues to do.#that's what feels right to him thats whats natural to him so he might as well do it.#i think part of Barney's brain hasn't really caught up to the idea that things really are improving.#like he Knows it and he's happy about it but it doesn't feel natural after spending half of his life under the combine.#his body still thinks hes in danger #okay im eepy #half life fanart #barney calhoun #half life 2 #half life furry au #half life

#hi! im alive and back and etc.#six the musical #six the musical fanart #katherine howard #thinking of that post going 'i think eventually you become the person you needed most' and like maybe that's the thing with my art #this started out as a redraw and <improvement meme> i think i've finally reached the stage where i'm making the things that my younger self #aspired to create. like i can do this now! i've reached That level of technical skill! tiny me would be so proud. it's very gratifying #redraw from august this year actually. i've made a surprising amount of improvement HAHA maybe it was the adamandi stuff getting me #back into digital rendering. i think that obsession has quietly slipped away but yknow. one never truly leaves a fandom. just less intensit #also speaking of old fandoms! we're back with the six stuff haha. as of writing i'm in the midst of blog revamp- figuring out how to chill #multifandom status doesn't mean ditch all the old stuff ! but i do feel much freer and less stressed. i think hiatus has been good for me #notes on this piece particularly: redraw about cutting hair and thinking of the lyric above. also lowkey &j ref + pinterest poem excerpts #of female suffering. and maybe a dash of amanda heng let's walk inspo. this work is really just full of contradictions..#1. the mirror and cutting hair as an act of self liberation 2. the & is part of the lyric but also a nod to &j (in another iteration it was #pink but the white looked better) and like. &j is really all !!! girl power!!! etc. and i was like hmmmm. also matching pink shiny aes #3. the frame as a cage; the mirror as a self reflection idea (ie. saville's propped insp) but also as a sign of vanity. 4. sparkly costume #and pretty pose- read one too many poems about women feeling like they have to be pretty even in their suffering. something i wanted to #explore. and also in 5. the show itself... all you wanna do is. despite all the dancing and pink and sparkly the content of the song is #darker. and even though it's a story of her suffering it's still presented as a shiny fun pop song and ajshdhfhfh ok... 6. the lyrics fall #outside the frame. sort of a caught inbetween. sort of a trapped in the narrative and yet #within the frame it's all. vaguely handwavy breaking free vibes. like i said contradictions?#7. cutting off the long ponytail vs the pull my hair lyric at the end. yeah #8. the blocked off & looks a bit like scissors. positioned to cut right at the neck #anyways yeah irl remains hectic! but if i get around to more doodles they'll appear here :)

i would like to say my ideal PJO adaptation (if i was being physically forced against my will to have to pick a live action adaptation over an animated one for some reason) would be a combo like writing of the musical + casting of the show + visuals of the movies

BUT the show actually does have the playwright for the musical as one of the major writers for like three episodes and that did nothing for it. so...

#pjo #riordanverse #pjo tv crit #i do love the casting for the musical lots and lots though #it was really good #i do also have some nitpicks for show casting but they're largely inconsequential #like majority i very much enjoy and think are cast well #i only have one i'd say im actually disappointed with and that's Poseidon. idk he just feels. bland??? does that make sense?#like idk maybe it's the costuming but im not getting Sea God *or* Fishing Dad from him #like i think i kinda see what they were going for and i saw some gifs of him in another show where he plays a pirate and its like #okay. *little* bit better. but idk im just not getting Poseidon from it #in general most of the immortals in the show dont feel very Immortal(tm) but thats definitely mostly just the writing/show itself #not any reflection of the casting #my only other two are i would have liked plus sized Clarisse. i am VERY sad we didnt get that #Dior is a VERY good Clarisse though so i'm not too upset about it. i like her Clarisse energy. the yelling is fantastic.#my most controversial pjo tv take is im still meh on Walker. like he's fine. but like he's kind of Just Fine to me so far #its probably mostly the writing being bad but he hasnt grown on me as Percy yet. i can tell he has the energy though in interviews n stuff #and the main trio dynamic in interviews and stuff is *very* good. i just wish the show writing was better #because the casting IS very good but they have so little to work with. you can really tell theyre trying their best #i like to joke the show would be better if they just set the cast loose in the woods doing in-character improv #like its clear basically all of them know their characters SUPER well. id watch 8 episodes of in the woods pjo cosplay improv.

#my art #wc oc #squints. its been a dogs age since ive posted anything wc oc related #oc #BUT YA!!!! these guys are old. i think i made cicadahop 2018-2019 but i could be wrong/i have no way of checking haha #and scallopstar was made 2020.? i think? both are vaaastly different #if i were to play them today i think id keep a lot of things the same for cicada. shes just a silly girl who wants to make friends and #and be kind. as for scallopstar. i think id change a lot #one reason: ive gotten a lot better (I HOPE) with storytelling now that ive been playing dnd for a well over a year #and since i also run two different campaigns. two: i have more experience writing a character with an arc that turns them into a villain #three: i was really going through it at the time so. erm. LMFAO plus i was like 16 so ANDKJFGNJDFHBGJH #but yeah!!! kinda crazy looking at my old art and seeing how much ive improved #also a weird feeling to draw them again but not a Bad weird feeling. been doing a lot of reminiscing #thank god we can copy/paste tags bc if i had to rewrite this all id be so sad HAHA #the crop was weird so i wanted to fix it before it was too late lol #since these 2 are ocs im not gonna indicate this was a request the same way i will with the other requests lol

i used to freehand comics all the time as a child and since the part i liked was the drawing part i would just draw panel after panel because i didn't want to stop drawing to think about icky icky words, plus the story TOTALLY still made perfect sense! to me! and noone else, but 'whoooo caaaaares omgggg its not like comics and sequantial art are a communicative meeediummmm lmaoooooo'. i spent my entire childhood telling myself stuff like "oh pfft I know this story by heart- ill SIMPLY remember the dialogue and write it later" ...and. I can't help but admire baby maiora's (call that a minora ba tm tsk) fucking audacity? hubris? confident wrongness? kid couldn't even remember to finish the comics in the first place? #good grief im gettin a lil tired of seeing 'DONT DO THIS' kinda art videos #i very much understand its a youtube thing and that clickbait names and thumbs get the views and attention needed #but it doesnt mean it doesnt annoy me or that I cant be annoyed by it #sometimes i just see it in tutorial pictures too #but the large DONTS with red Xs near the supposed ''wrong'' way of drawing is so demotivating #people start and draw in many ways than one #its what makes art their own #but when videos or tutorial posts are made and show the ''WRONG'' way to go about it #its like scolding the new artist or long time artist with that style that they're doing it wrong and that its bad #no matter the intention its not the way to go about helping artists learn to draw #and in my personal opinion #the click bait ''DONT DO THIS WHEN DRAWING'' thing is what keeps me from actually watching the vids #i get theyre probably helpful but i don't like that I have to feel some NEED or DESIRE to click on a vid cause I feel like I did a thing #wrong or that i never should have done it at all #i wish i could see more 'here are some tips that helped me #kinda vids cause yes i would love to learn what helped you rather than being or feeling wronged for drawing in a way that isn't theirs #im rambling but i have been seeing a lot of 'DONT DO THIS' NEVER DO THIS' 'IF YOURE DOING THIS STOP NOW' kinda art vids #im speakin for myself here #but im an artist sifting through art youtube or spaces always willing to learn new ways of improving my art #i dont need to feel click baited like the next 3am don't this kid to learn how to improve my inking skills #if it was more a 'this is my personal preference and I wanna share it with my audience and maybe teach some things' kinda vid #id watch that too #but im just so tired of seeing art youtube going down this need to tell folks 'YOURE DOING IT ALL WRONG.
