Hey!! I hope you're doing well! I just read your post about the dateables reacting to MC back in human form, and I really loved it! Your writing was great and I loved how their personalities were on point!! I saw your asks were open and wanted to ask if you'd like to write a bit of a domestic fluff with the dateables reacting to MC cooking/teaching them how to cook human food! (especially Solomon bc he's the worst at it lol) Thank you and please write more in the future, you're amazing 💗
— 🦇
Note: Thank you so much 🦇 anon! Also I love this idea, unfortunately i actually didn't know what to do with it :( but tried my best and sorry for not replying soon. Characters: 《°•[ Solomon , Simeon , Diavolo , Barbatos...]•°》
Summary: 《°•[ Cooking with them!]•°》
Warnings: 《°•[ Fluff, Solomon wanting to cook.]•°》
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Solomon, cooking isn’t easy. He is a free spirit, curious, and itching to try different combinations with a smile on his face, be it potions or spells, or cooking. Thankfully, he is powerful enough to fix those failed experiments and let it be a learning experience for him, except when he is tasked (himself) to cook. He tries, fails, and just accepts it as perfection, never learning his lesson, never improving. You don’t have the heart to tell him to not join you in the kitchen since he seems to genuinely love cooking for people, however, sometimes he really tests your patience.
Like right now, as he tries, once again, to add some sort of weird ingredient to the pot. Something that DEFINITELY doesn't belong in a human dish…Or any realm's dish for that matter.
“Oh, you caught me.”
“Put that down.” you warned him with a stern voice, Solomon just smiled while slowly lowering the thing, “Not in the pot!” you yelled, barely managing to stop him before he added his ‘touch’ to the meal, “Solomon, what did we talk about?”
Solomon frowned, “I know, it just…” sighing as he glanced at the book, reading the instructions again, “The recipe seems so boring.”
“It’s a soup recipe.”
He dramatically sighed again and stepped back, putting the “ingredient” he was going to add back into his pocket, making you wonder what it even was. Your thoughts were quickly interrupted by him wrapping his arms around your waist from behind and resting his cheek on your shoulder, “Sorry, I promise I won't try to add any DemonFlower Eyeball into it.”
“Just don't add anything!”
“Okay okay,” he laughs, “Only human stuff, got it.”
A smile formed on your lips after hearing his voice next to your ear, a gentle and calm tone. Ready to do anything you requested from him. For now.
After all, even though Solomon is a free spirit, his love for you makes him come back down to earth. If it is you who tells him to follow the recipe, then he will. And surprisingly enough, he isn’t a bad cook once he stops his ways of…adding things.
He fetches you some ingredients then stands next to you, waiting for your instructions (since you sadly don't trust him much to do anything on his own). You finished rather quickly and ready the bowls. Both of you sit on the table and Solomon takes his first sip, “And here I thought I was the teacher in our relationship. It seems I have a lot to learn from you too.” he says as a genuine smile graces his lips.
“Hm? Why do you say that?”
“This tastes delicious.”
“It's a simple dish.” you say, a little confused by his low tone, and the far away look in his eyes.
“It's been forever since I've eaten any human world food,” his smile never leaves his face, “It may be a simple dish but that is what makes it so special. Thank you for the food.”
Tumblr media
Simeon is someone who enjoys cooking, not as much as Luke perhaps, but he is still okay at it. For him, trying new recipes every now and then, helping Luke around is something of a routine at this point. Cooking in general has always been a job he needed to do, until his view changed quickly when you decided to enter the kitchen with him. The angel then quickly realized that cooking can also be fun and engaging too.
If you are around that is.
Tonight, you had a craving for some human world food. Luke asked to try some too so you decided to get to work and Simeon offered to help.
“So, where do we start?-” he is suddenly stopped by your arms wrapping around him and completely stops moving for a moment, however he gently hugs you back.
“Simeon?” you ask in confusion, “What are you doing?”
Simeon slightly pulls back, only to realize you were just tying the apron around him, “Oh.” he smiles gently, while mentally hitting himself on the head and pulls back, “I thought you wanted a hug.”
“Maybe later, now let's get to work!”
Simeon is out of his usual attire and wearing something more comfortable instead, with an apron tied to his waist thanks to you.
He listens to what you want to make and what he can do. (Un)fortunately he usually finishes his work pretty fast and then tries to take over yours to help which you refuse. Giving him another, much more simple task and while he does that Simeon often starts to ramble.
“...Would it be rude of me to say that I like how human ingredients are so normal?”
“Compared to what?”
“Anything from Devildom really...” Simeon can't help but look guilty, it feels like he is insulting the whole Devildom himself, a place most of his friends consider a home, but he can't help it, “At least these don't try to attack us.”
“Oh, that's true,” you almost let out a chuckle at how nervous Simeon seems as he chops tomatoes, probably imagining them starting a fight, “What about Celestia?”
“Celestia? Well, hm…” his hands pause for a moment as he gets lost in thought, “They are…Okay? Though, some of them are…Too much.”
You aren't really sure what Simeon means by ‘Too much.’ but decide not to ask about it as he seems annoyed. A memory of an energetic cucumber crossed his mind, perhaps?
“I'm glad you like our normal and boring tomatoes then.”
Simeon laughs nervously, “Yeah, I like it, especially since they don't grow legs and run around.” he turns to you with a smile, “So, we can just focus on making the food and enjoy talking like this.”
Even after the food was finished and the three of you sat down to enjoy the food Simeon can't help but ask you to teach him more human world recipes, “Luke enjoyed it.” he says. Hoping you don't notice how he just wants to spend time with you.
Tumblr media
“You want me to make a human world dish?”
“No.” you shake your head, “We are going to make it together, Barbatos.”
Barbatos smiles, when people come to him they always have requests. For example, Beelzebub. The young devil always says he wants to eat his cooking, or use the big kitchen at the palace for a new dish. No one ever came to him and asked to cook together since it was usually his job alone to do, he is a butler after all.
“Alright. However, I don't know the dish you want to make, so…” he can't help but chuckle a little as he bows his head, “Please treat me kindly.”
His words are a complete lie though, Barbatos may not know how the recipe goes but he can tell what needs to be added. He is a great cook, and so graceful while he does the work. He is pretty quick too so the food is almost done already.
“Hmm…” after taking a small sip from the pot you can't help but think that something is missing, it tastes good but it could be better you think, so you turn to your helper, as he likes to call himself, “Barbatos, what do you think of this?”
He casually takes the spoon you hold for him and hums, “It's great, but how about adding some bay leaf?”
“...Bay leaf? We have that?”
“I do, I sometimes use it.” he walks up to a random cabinet and pulls out a jar, “It goes well in foods that need to be cooked for a long period of time. You just need to take it out after it's done.”
“Huh. So, you use human world ingredients in your cooking?”
“Only when you are around,” you watch as Barbatos adds two leaves into the pot, “It's amusing to see your reaction when you eat what I cook for you.”
“That's why they taste so familiar!?”
Barbatos innocently smiles at you, “Don't forget to stir, dear. Or would you like me to take over?”
“Barbatos, don't tell me you actually have been making me human food that looks like Devildom food.”
“I thought the familiar taste would make you happy.”
“...That's kind. Thank you.” you smile, but then squint your eyes at him, “You sure there's nothing else…?”
Barbatos doesn't say anything as he starts cleaning around the kitchen, picking up the things you've used and no longer need.
Of course there's another reason why he secretly cooks human dishes for you. It's so you can visit him, compliment him and ask for him. It's a selfish reason. However, for someone like him it's not surprising. He is a demon, and when it comes to your time and attention, he selfishly wants it all.
Tumblr media
You are asking the prince, the future ruler of Devildom to cook with you, a human dish? And he agrees with a laugh? If anyone heard this, they would be thinking the Devildom is coming to an end. His butler however, can't help but think Diavolo agreed without hesitation only because it's you and only because it's a way to escape from his duties. Considering the prince has never touched an utensil in his life, it is weird to see that he seems so confident.
His confidence, however, quickly shaders as he accidentally pushes on the tomato too much while trying to chop it and makes a mess. Covering your aprons and walls with tomato seeds and juices.
He turns to you and smiles, “Have I ever told you that you look good in red?”
You scoff but can't help as a smile grows on your face, “Yes, usually when I'm in a red outfit, not when in a red mess.”
“Small details.” he laughs, but a sigh leaves him as he looks down at the chopping board, “I didn't think they would be so soft and delicate.”
“Don't blame the tomatoes.” when he turns his sad eyes towards you, you wave your hands around quickly, a feeling of guilt settling in, “Don't blame yourself either, accidents happen in kitchens! We can still use it.”
“That's great! Then I'll continue with the cutting,” he says, smiling again, “I'll be more careful from now onl.”
Diavolo may not have a lot of experience in the kitchen, no matter which realm the food is from, but he still finds his own failures fun. Laughing when he accidentally drops the salt shaker in the pan or when he almost burns himself. As a prince he never had mishaps in the kitchen before.
It's new, it's entertaining.
“Thank you for helping me.” you can't help but look at the bandages around his fingers, “Even though it was kind of a disaster.”
Diavolo laughs as he searches for the plates,”No no, thank you! This was a lot of fun. And we get to taste the fruit of our labor too!” he finally finds the right cabinet, “And I'm always happy to learn about the things you enjoy, like this dish.”
He might still have a lot of papers to read and sign but every once in a while he goes into the kitchen to cook the recipe he learned from you. He is extra careful while making it if he is making it for you but is more care free if it's only for himself. He also eats it when he misses you when you are unable to visit him, the same human world dish brings comfort to him as he imagines it bringing comfort to you.

Medieval Name Default Replacement Mod
Version 1.0 current as of September 22nd, 2024
Sul sul, and hail, my fellow medieval gameplay enjoyers! Have you grown tired of scouring the internet for names appropriate for Ultimate Decades Challenge, or the History Challenge, or any other gameplay that includes a medieval time period? Because I sure did, and that's why I got the idea to create this mod for those of us who want to just leave it up to the game to name our sims. And now, I'm so so excited to present it to you now!
If you don't want to read about the mod and just want to skip straight to downloading it, scroll to the very bottom of this post (under the "keep reading")! But if you want to know, I have written up a bit about the mod below.
How does it work?
It's very simple. You download the mod, and put it into your mods folder. Once the mod is in your folder, load up the game. In both CAS, and randomly generated townies, the available names will only be selected from a pool of medieval names.
When in CAS, if you use the die to randomize a name, it will only give you medieval names, like so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When a townie is randomly generated in town, they will no longer have modern names, like so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When your sim gives birth to a baby, the random name options will all be appropriately medieval, like so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it compatible only with English?
I believe it is compatible with all game languages because I set the language to "Global," but seeing as my game is in English, it is difficult for me to test. If anyone with their game installed in another language wants to let me know if it works, that would be much appreciated!
Any details on the names you can provide us?
Well, it would be far too long of a list for me to tell you all of the names, but here are the details I can share - (under the cut)
a little over 3500 female names
a little over 7200 male names
a little over 13,400 surnames/bynames
the date range that these names should be appropriate for is between 800 and 1500, because that is the range that I pulled names from
Indian names replaced by medieval German
Islander names replaced by medieval Dutch
Japanese names replaced by medieval French
Moroccan names replaced by medieval Scottish/Irish
Latin names replaced by medieval Spanish/Portuguese
Native American names replaced by medieval Lithuanian, Latvian, Hungarian, Russian, and Romanian (I wanted to add all of these languages separately but ran out of categories)
Southest Asian names replaced by medieval Italian
a little over 1400 pet names (cats, dogs, and horses)
in the future, I intend to add names for the farm animals as well
Where did you get your names?
All human names in this mod have been sourced from this website: HERE.
Any other details I should know?
base game compatible, but it might be a little glitchy if your game isn't up-to-date.
you may only have one name replacement mod in your game at a time
this mod is subject to change as I find more names, so check back occasionally to see if the version is new!
if you have any questions or suggestions for names, feel free to message me
works for every age
will not replace the names of sims that have already been created

Champaign Tastes on a Bottled Water Budget (because let’s face it, even beer isn’t cheap anymore) Thrift Tips
People are over living in white boxes. We now want richness and texture and colors and interest. Traditional design styles with lots of molding and detail and antiques are very in. People are making a living selling antiques online. Décor bloggers aspire to being able to bring back a container from European flea markets. People want to make their homes look like you have generational wealth.  But how do you have a home full of beautiful old things when you’ve got no money? Thrifting.
1. Always always check the art. Remember if you love the art but hate the frame you can always put it in a new frame, or makeover the current one. And vice versa, if you love the frame but hate what’s in it then it’s the simplest thing in the world to swap it out for something else, another piece of thrifted art, a print from Etsy or one of the many other places artists sell digital copies of their work, a color photocopy from a library book. And frames are very easy to make over, sometimes just changing the matting or painting a frame a different color or adding a little rub n buff makes a world of difference.
2. Rub n Buff or similar waxes are your friend for getting a gorgeous, antiqued look. The thrift stores are full of pieces that have great shape but they’re too modern looking for what you’re trying to achieve. But rub gold on the high points or a dark wax into the crevasses and suddenly they look completely different. I’ve got a ceramic parrot that looked very 80s when I got my hands on it but when I covered it with gold (leaving the original dark colors in the crevasses) he immediately looked like an antique. Just spray-painting something gold doesn’t have the same effect, using a wax creates depth.
3. Darken it up. Most old things are darker than new things. Darker furniture, fabrics, accessories, add depth and richness. If something is already dark, then when you thrift it then great. If it’s not then that’s what dye, paint, and stain are for.
4. Old souvenir pieces. I’ve got a load of old pieces that people have bought back from Greece and Rome, from Egypt, from China. They make my home look like it belongs to someone who has been on a Grand Tour. A lot of them are copies of ancient pieces which means they look timeless. They’re cheap tchotchkes that people have bought at gift shops but mix them in with old books and candle holders and natural pieces like chunks or crystal or large seashells, and they look classy and interesting.
5. Old books. Do you have any idea how many old books get thrown out by thrift stores? Like genuine antiques that get sent to landfill? Most thrift stores don’t want to deal with old books because they smell and harbor dust mites and are out of date and often look tatty. You may even be able to get a bunch for free if you sweet talk the volunteers. If you’re worried about dust mites, then pop them in the freezer for a few days. I know there are those who look down on people who use books just as décor, but if you using it as décor saves it from a landfill or a junk journaler and preserves it for a future generation then isn’t that a good thing?
6. Glass display items. Putting things behind glass makes them look lux and precious even if it’s some cheap trinket or even a bunch of dried leaves or other completely free natural items. Look for domes, plain clear vases you can turn upside down and glue a knob on top, display boxes holding ugly stuff that you can rip the ugly stuff out and re-purpose.
7. Antique reproductions. There’s been many points in history since humans started to mass manufacture stuff, that we have looked to the past a re-created what our forbears made by hand. There’s so much that ends up in thrift stores that looks old even if it’s no more than a few decades old. Cleverly mixing this stuff in to your décor can help you achieve the look of a home furnished with antiques at a fraction of the price.
8. Search ‘Old’ ‘Antique’ and ‘Vintage’ on FB Marketplace. Don’t get more specific than that, just literally type those terms into the search bar, set a distance you’re willing to travel, and scroll. People are always selling stuff that they don’t quite know what the heck it is, but they know it’s old. Yeah you’re gonna see a lot of trash but it’s worth it to find the treasures.
9. Candle holders and candles. I’m actually pretty meh about candles, I get why other people like them but scented candles mess with my allergies and I don’t get any joy out of candlelight – but if you feel the opposite to me, I do understand and encourage that. Candles are wonderful décor objects if you’re going to light them or not. Always check the section where your thrift store keeps candles, there’s often some really good ones. And candle holders come in so many different forms that you will always find beautiful and interesting ones. A figural brass candle holder will make my heart go pitty-pat. You don’t just have to use them for candles either, I have a gorgeously detailed pewter candle holder that I use as a display stand for a large mother-of-pearl shell, and my pair of huge Victorian cherubs currently have clear quartz crystals sticking out of them.
10. Actual antiques. I have hundreds of antiques big and small. I just tried to remember how many of them had been bought at actual antique stores and I think the total is 5. Real genuine antiques turn up in thrift stores All The Time. Sometimes the thrift store realizes what they’ve got and will price it up, more than you’d usually pay at the thrift but still way less than it’s really worth. Sometimes they don’t know/don’t care, they just want to turn over stock so they price it at whatever will get it out the door. You CAN furnish your home with antiques entirely from thrift stores. It just takes time and patience.

Sebastian and Bards relationship in the cannon is not talked about enough.
Not to sound pretentious, but I feel like it may be more accurate to say their dynamic in the context of the series.
The simplistic caveman side of my brain wants to say that they’re just two dudes, which isn’t wrong. But the analytical side of my brain wishes to elaborate 🤗.
Behold my tangent.
One of my favorite lines in this series is when Sebastian tells Bard quote “You fear death, as humans should. You must be the only one in this manor who does.”
Tumblr media
(The fact that it pans to Ciel is just 👌👌👌. Good shit, love to see it.)
To me, Bards backstory segments where we saw him adjusting to life in the manor had a different feel to when we saw the same for Mayrin. We got to see her interact with oCiel, Finny, Nina, and even Lau briefly. But with Bard, he was only ever really shown with Sebastian. Or at least mainly.
There’s a stronger sense that Bard doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the household. Which I felt was emphasized by this panel.
Tumblr media
I interpret this as him saying “what the hell am I doing in the house full of crazy kids.”
Which leads me back to my main point. Basically, Bard is the most normal human in this house. And who is he paired up with the most? Debatably the least normal “human” in the house.
Except I bet that’s not how Bard sees it. While Ciel may be the master of the house, Bard and Sebastian are the adults of the household. The men of the house if you will. (Yeah yeah Mayrin and Tanaka are adults too. But in Mayrin’s case b/c of her time as a snipper she hadn’t lived as much of a life as Bard, so she’s not quite at the same level of maturity. And I’m going to ignore Tanaka since he’s less of an active player among the servants.)
I’m trying so hard to break down my thought process rn :’) OK, because of this, I bet that Bard views Sebastian as sort of like his bro. They have this shared responsibility to take care of the ‘kids’ in the house. (Take a shot every time I say house).
Honestly idk where I’m going with this. Sebastian is like the strict mother who expects highly of the servants. While Bard is the bad influence uncle that endorses smoking, drinking, and pornography.
They have a weird partnership, one that boarders on a one sided friendship. They both have an unspoken understanding that they share the responsibility of adults looking after children. Only for Bard to then be put back in his place by Sebastian, as HE probably views Bard as just another one of the kids he has to manage.
I swear I had a point, I don’t think I conveyed it properly. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I honestly love Bard as a character, he’s very interesting when you really start to think about it. He doesn’t get enough recognition from the fan base esp when it comes to analytical perspectives.

Alright so Nico likes Sandy but he hasn't really talked to her much does he really even know Sandy or is he judging people again like he did with mc
It's moreso that Sandy's just really sweet and nice! While not entirely set in stone / canon, I can see Sandy being the first person outside of Nico's family to gender him correctly (following his ‘official’ transition), something as small and (typically) insignificant as a "What would you like to order, sir?" being world changing for Nico.
Not to mention, Sandy would probably start to recognize him after sometime and would ask him about his day, and other things along those lines. She makes him feel all giddy inside :)

Is/Was tumblr giving anyone else a notification when someone you followed posted for the first time in a while? Like this:
Tumblr media
It was doing that for me for a couple weeks, although now it seems to have stopped. A short-lived experiment? Or perhaps no one has posted after a long enough lag. (It seems unlikely to have been a bug, but I don't know enough about coding so maybe?)
It was sort of an interesting idea, to make sure I didn't miss someone I hadn't seen in a while, but on the whole I'm glad it's gone/hope it goes. I'd like my notifications to be all about me, thank you 👸🏻The dashboard is the place for other people. Otherwise it gets confusing.
Anyway, I haven't posted in a while (12 days), so perhaps this post will show up in your notifications!

post-hamlet thoughts
tl;dr my college did hamlet and i was in it and it was cool
first of all, in case i hadn't made this clear already, this was entirely student-produced. i mean, we got some money from the theater department, but people-wise, it was all students.
i've told the rest of the cast this time and time again, but they're so good. insanely dedicated and humbling in their talent.
our hamlet, horatio, ophelia, and laertes were all freshman, and they were all stellar. ophelia and laertes broke my heart every night in the second half with their anger and their sadness. horatio always brings top energy to scenes and had lots of funny moments (espec counting his doubling as the second gravedigger) but also made me feel things (we staged act 4 scene 6 as him alone on stage reading hamlet's letter to the audience and he killed it every time). and our hamlet was just incredible; a pleasure to act against as guildenstern and a pleasure to watch / listen to in their more emotional scenes.
and everyone else was great too! our polonius was always funny but also had genuine moments of connection with his kids; our cladius brought some great depth to the role (his take on the monologue in act 3 scene 3 was great) while still being despicable, especially in his manipulation of laertes; our gertrude brought our director's take on her to life impeccably; and, of course, i had a wonderful and hilarious partner in our rosencrantz :)
not to mention our quartet of players (who also filled out the other miscellaneous roles) who had a ton of great moments. shout-outs in particular to the guy who doubled as the first gravedigger and sang his sung lines as a sea shanty (honestly, i think he could have been a great guildenstern or rosencrantz in another universe).
the crew, of course, was also amazing. there were like 150 cues? my friend (the writer i mentioned in this post) did a fantastic job with the lights. the people behind the staging and makeup did just as well. and the costumes were so fun! everyone looked great; we had a consistent black-white-red-brown color palette that tied it all together. special shout-out to the player king wearing a white shirt with a black cape while cladius wore a zipped-up leather jacket and a white cape.
oh, and me and ros? we got fedoras :) i may share a photo later. maybe.
we did our show in the college black box theater (inside the fine arts building), which i do not currently have the brain cells to try and explain the layout of. it's a kind of weird space, but i think we made the most of it. for the majority of the show i was off stage left, meaning i was hanging out at the top of the stairs which serve as the main entrance and exit to the theater (sitting/standing where i couldn't be seen by the audience obv). you can't really see the stage at all from there but you sure can hear the actors, and by the time of the show that was (mostly) enough for me.
as far as how the actual shows went?
friday was our most engaged audience. their laughter was greatly appreciated in the early scenes ...slightly less so when everyone was dying in the final scene. i mean, i get it, people start dropping like flies and actually foaming at the mouth and spitting out (fake) blood; it's a lot. i applaud hamlet and horatio for staying in character through it. everyone did a great job that night; it was probably better than all our dress rehearsals as a whole.
saturday, at least from my pov, had kind of weird vibes at the start? i don't know how much of it was people getting to bed late the previous night, how much of it was overconfidence, and how much of it was people getting in their own heads, but it was our lowest energy show. the audience wasn't as audibly engaged either, but they did give us a big applause. i felt more good than bad about it by the end, for sure.
especially in retrospect, because, despite us having a smaller crowd at today's matinee, everyone was back on the ball. the ending in particular i think was the best we've ever done it. it was probably my best performance as well.
to be clear, i wouldn't rate any of our three shows below an 8 out of 10, for what that's worth. everyone gave so much to their performances; the funny bits were funny even when the audience didn't seem to think so, and i was always getting caught up in my feelings in the second act. you can't ask for much more than that.
now, here's a compilation of things from the production in no real order:
i already posted about this, but having the blood stains on stage where people die from the beginning of every show? *chef's kiss*
i'll also restate the thing i mentioned in the tags of that post: characters who were murderers had symbolic blood makeup after they killed someone. cladius had a bloody ear from the start of the show, the meaning of which becomes clear once you see the player king get poison poured in his ears; hamlet got blood on their face during intermission that's meant to be polonius's blood; and, arguably most significantly, gertrude had bloody handprints around her neck when she entered at the end of act 4, which, in addition to her hair and arms being dripping wet, is meant to suggest that the story she tells about ophelia's death is, in fact, a cover for something less accidental.
as mentioned above, our director's take on gertrude in general was, from my understanding, pretty different from the standard. to quote from his character spines, "you fundamentally want to prepare your son hamlet to be king; you are playing essentially a game of chess to do so." it was really compelling to see in action. the way she performed act 4 scene 7? chilling.
speaking of those character spines, the first line of horatio's is literally just, "You are in love with Hamlet." and boy howdy did that come through
prime example of that (other than just, all of his and hamlet's interactions, which were wonderful): when horatio finished reading the letter from hamlet, he sniffed it, in a very sweet and very not-platonic way
it was an unintentional running gag throughout the whole process that other cast members would forget between ros and me which character we were playing - to the point that every performance, when hamlet first greeted us, even though i would get to them first, they addressed me first, and it's written that they say my name first, they would call me rosencrantz and our ros guildenstern. ...someone should write a play about that.
i might have posted about this already, but in ros and i's first scene with hamlet, when the two of them start talking about child actors, hamlet made us sit in the thrones, and we would make moves to leave of varying boldness that they, of course, never let us follow through on. this then got basically repeated in act 3 scene 2 except that horatio got to join in on the fun of relentlessly mocking us
(the thing where hamlet handed me their copy of william shakespeare's complete works while they dud the "what is a man" mimi monologue got dropped at some point in the dress rehearsals, unfortunately. they did flip through it with the players though)
during the play within a play, polonius would keep falling asleep and ros and i would keep waking him up
(we also got to do some fun silent banter back in act 2 scene 2 while hamlet and the players were doing their thing)
then the bit after that with the recorders, aka guildenstern's defining moment, was just so fun. hamlet and horatio basically sandwiched ros and me between the two of them, and hamlet and i played off each other very well (at least imo), and though i couldn't see what horatio and ros were doing behind me i know that it got some good laughs. and i could tell every night that the scene landed despite the shakespearean language barrier, so i can't help but be satisfied.
my other best moment was when the king told me to go get polonius's body from the stairs and i got to slump and make a "do i have to?" face before my (final) exit. i managed to actually get some chuckles from that tonight, from the crowd that, again, laughed the least in general, and i can't put into words how euphoric i was to have that be my last moment playing guildenstern.
from the rest of the second half of the show, which i am not in, i will highlight a) the gravedigger eventually realizing after shoveling for minutes on end that he's been shoveling literally nothing (love me a good little fourth wall break) and b) when hamlet and laertes come to physical blows over ophelia, horatio, on his line, steps between them, draws laertes's sword, and takes a stance pointing it at laertes to hold him off, all in basically one glorious motion.
oh, and the ending, of course.
as i alluded to way earlier, we had fake blood and alka-seltzer tablets that the people who died in act 5 scene 2 used to great effect (particularly the people who died via poison)
speaking of that scene, the sword fight was very neat! well-choreographed and well-enacted. real foils btw
and the way hamlet and horatio performed the ending? more than anything, the way hamlet said "give me the cup; let go!" - that shit hurt, in the best way, every night. (and though hamlet died in the king's throne (with the king's crown on), horatio held / clung to them the whole damn time)
for a lighter final note: our polonius doubled as fortinbras and came on at the ending in this huge, heavy, vampire-ass cloak, accompanied by our director as the messenger from england who announces my and ros's death :)
thankfully, we did record our last dress rehearsal, so we do have a version of it that we'll get to watch back in the future. i won't be able to share it with any of y'all (we will apparently be in BIG trouble if we post it anywhere online) but it'll be nice to have for me.
funny thing that happened while i was typing this long-ass post out: i kept using present tense and then realizing i had to change it to past tense. and by "funny" here, i mean, uh... oof.
we never got a perfect run-through where no lines were skipped over, but, i mean, it's fucking hamlet. we did this shit in like a month and a half (with a week lost to spring break); it's more than impressive that the show turned out how it did. it was a group labor of love, and one of the best things i've ever gotten to be a part of.
and i miss it already.
...at least there's movie night on tuesday :)

these will be broken up into sections: physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, and miscellaneous.

kaeya has a little beauty mark on the lower left corner of his left eye.
kaeya has full lips with a prominent cupid's bow.
kaeya's upper lip has the kim possible look goin' on.
kaeya always wears make-up, being another meticulous detail about him aside from making sure his clothes are perfect too. this make-up consists of eyeliner and mascara, but for formal events he may go all out. most people may think this is him being purely vain, but he has an image and reputation to uphold.
kaeya is not very slim, having a fuller chest, arms, rear, thighs, and calves, lending to his status as a knight. despite this, he has a thin waist and is a tad curvy.
kaeya has scars along his body from all sorts of weapons from sparring and altercations.
he has burn scarns running along his right side and a scar on his right eye.
kaeya's right eye has a black sclera with a golden iris.
kaeya does not mind wearing either masculine nor feminine clothing. if he likes it and it looks beautiful on him, he'll wear it.

kaeya, as we all know, is very intelligent. thanks to this, i'm of the belief that he has picked up on multiple languages thanks to multiple trips with the ragnivindrs, whether out of business or leisure, thus making him a polyglot. this is especially useful when it comes to communicating with his intelligence network that spans nations.
kaeya at times reads recent novels from other nations, in order to keep his fluency but also as a past-time. practice makes perfect, after all.
kaeya LOVES brain teasers and puzzles, like c'mon.
kaeya is rather impatient and hates standing still for too long (due to supporting voicelines). he values his time immensely. he will never be late again.
kaeya would never put the pressure of perfection on anyone else but himself. he needs to be perfect.
𝓔𝓶𝓸𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵
kaeya's loneliness, and ultimately depression, torments him the most right after leaving the angel's share. it's in these moments he's loathe to return "home" right away, sometimes passing through the streets of mondstadt like a ghost late at night. on the rare occassion, he would leave the gates and make a trip to starfell lake, the symbol of mondstadt's hero at windrise, or even more rarely the cliff overlooking dawn winery.
it's canon that crepus's death had fascinated kaeya tremendously, morbidly, and offered him relief and solace, but i believe he also grieves over him just as much as diluc does, if not a tad more. after being given warmth, love, a family, a father who truly cared, how could he not grieve over what he had lost, and was too late to save? crepus is not the only one who he grieves for. after all, he lost a brother that day, too.
kaeya still yearns for home, whether the one he was born into, the one he was taken in by, or a new one. yet, his ever-lingering guilt that refuses to be absolved keeps him from having it again. he acknowledges it's not his fault that he was born into this life and role, but he still believes, as a sinner, that he has no right to feel the happiness he oh-so-desires.
as much as kaeya believes he has left behind khaenri'ah, i'm of the belief that he still cares about it. he kept a portion of his birth father's notes, willingly chose to keep using "Alberich", hitched a ride on a ship to sumeru to learn more about his homeland, and still remains torn with the idea of duty to his home nation versus the love for mondstadt.
𝓑𝓮𝓱𝓪𝓿𝓲𝓸𝓻𝓪𝓵
kaeya is very careful with his eyepatch(es), making sure they're not being worn out too quickly.
speaking of eyepatches, he would rather die than be caught lacking without one. this includes going to bed with one on. only time he ever takes it off is when he bathes. he locks the door when he does so.
should kaeya have a bedmate for the night, he would not take them back to his place and would instead either book a hotel or go to their place. that way, he's able to slip away once they're asleep. this is due to not trusting (hardly) anyone while he sleeps, and wanting to have no strings attached.
kaeya doesn't necessarily fear commitment, but he fears the fall-out of said commitment potentially coming apart. he's very hard to woo, keeping up plenty of walls not only towards potential romantic relationships, but quite literally every other relationship too.
kaeya learned a lot from miss adelinde, such as sewing, brewing tea, the best ways to wash and dry clothes, what works best when washing dishes, how to take care of his hair... yet, when it comes to cooking, he's not...great. he knows the easy stuff, such as making rice, toasting bread, making broths, eggs, etc. though, he definitely makes the best chicken-mushroom skewers with his signature fruity skewers!
bringing up kaeya being impatient again, he often taps his foot or chews on the inside of his cheek. anything that doesn't mess with his actual appearance (such as biting nails, picking at skin, pulling hair, etc).
kaeya is often seen as lazy, taking the easy way out when he does his work. yet, realistically, he clears his work dutifully and ahead of schedule when he has free time, tacking on even more if he still has time leftover. time is precious. he had to be efficient and hard-working when supporting diluc as his shadow, after all.
𝓜𝓲𝓼𝓬𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓮𝓸𝓾𝓼
kaeya thinks of elzer as a second brother! after all, elzer did say that he saw crepus as a father too.
kaeya keeps every single thing he was ever given tucked away in a safe place within his home. from mementos and photos from childhood to klee's thoughtful gifts.
kaeya, at most times, is unable to sleep properly due to nightmares, memories, mistakes, and overall guilt festering inside of him.
kaeya can sense the abyss coming off of others. of course, when he met dainsleif in sumeru, he probably felt eyes on him regardless; or even moreso he felt the abyss reaching out to him.
kaeya loves spicy food. i refuse to believe otherwise even if it may be canon that he doesn't. i refuse to let a brown man not be able to handle spicy food (as a poc myself).
kaeya was affected by the chasm being unsealed. this caused him to be out of commission for a few days, unable to properly work and instead hiding away in his home. it caused him a lot of pain, physical and mental.

Okay, so, Juno!
Okay, since Juno's whole thing is his eyes and how he relies on them as the only thing that determines his self worth, so I'm thinking...precognition? Clairvoyance? I'm also unsure what to call him, but at any rate Juno can see the future. Not perfectly (because the future isn't as cut and dry as some people might believe it to be) and accurately enough to be able to rely on it, just enough to confuse. It works well for a PI, and it has handy, but Juno's learned not to rely too much on it.
S1 progresses as normal save for the clairvoyance and Juno ignoring it because half the time it's wrong and misleading (unless Rita's around, in which case he can't ignore it) and swallowing the pill as normal. HOWEVER, when Juno meets Peter again, things start going a little (read: a lot) screwy. His headache gets worse around him and his features keep flickering like an afterimage, or an optical illusion, because the martian growth's trying to make sense of the real thing and Juno's precognition's going haywire again because there are so many different paths Peter's walking as so many different people that the powers that be can't make any sense of it. It gets better in the tomb, because then Peter's bound to one form, but whenever he has to read his mind it's just agony because Nureyev, as a shade/spirit/poltergeist/general boogeyman-under-your-bed, is very very against being perceived. Anyways, his eye bursts and Miasma dies and they make it out of there alive, and Juno still leaves (because while he can see glimpses of the shining future Peter's promising, the vision's interspersed with Peter all alone, head buried in his arms and shoulders shaking as he cries, Peter staring out into the vastness of space with Juno next to him equally as dead-eyed, Peter climbing into a vent and leaving bloody handprints behind, and in his heart he knows that he will be the cause of all that pain).
The powers that be also do not like the Theia. The headaches are back, accompanied by visual and auditory hallucinations of his mother, Nureyev, the growing list of dead bodies to his name as both his vision and Theia insist that the other one is the liar, as well as the additional side effects of losing an eye, gaining it and losing it again. Juno shrugs it a minor con to a long list of pros and continues on as normal. (Monster's Reflection is different in this, because it's not Juno's fault no matter what he saw. No one wants to believe that their other half is going to die at the hands of a parent, so why is Juno still beating himself up for every little thing out of his control after all these years?)
And ofc once all is said and done Juno accepts Buddy's offer, because there's nothing left for him in Hyperion anymore. It's all gone anyways, everything he knew like the back of his hand, leveled to the ground and salted so that nothing could regrow the way it was. Except when he gets to the ship he thinks he should have just stayed there in the ruins, because standing there next to the Ruby is Peter, and he's the crystal clear image of a man that Juno does not recognize. And when he introduces himself as Peter Ransom, with a tight smile and a squeeze of his fingers with his gloved own that perfectly relays the message, do not fuck this up for me.
Peter Ransom is the same height and breadth as Peter Nureyev, has the same pale eyes and dark hair and that mole on the crown of his lips, but they could not be further apart from one another. For one, Peter Ransom does not smile. He grins, and he smirks, and he pulls his lips away from his teeth in a wolfish approximation of a smile when he's talking to Juno, but not once do his eyes spark with familiar mischief. And every time he grins, it's a threat. He's perfectly polite, the quintessential gentleman, but when he's sitting silent while Juno and Vespa go at each other's throats there's an aura of hostility, waiting for someone to say anything to him to snap back (politely, but split-second jabs nonetheless).
Even after they talk it out, Peter's just as aloof as before, maybe even more when someone points out that they look like they worked things out (it's Rita who says, wow I'm so glad you guys are gettin' along now! and Peter flinches so hard he almost upsets his mug and drops Juno's hand like it's a grenade. After that he keeps his hands to himself, elbows tucked in and one leg neatly crossed over to the other, and save for the occasional brush of his shoe over Juno's ankle he doesn't acknowledge him again.) Even when they're alone, he allows only the barest touch—briefly holding Juno's wrist, pushing a stray curl behind his ear, brushing a kiss on the nape of his neck—and Juno concentrates so hard trying to find out what's going wrong, spends hours with Rita holding his hand and hoping for something, any answer, but Juno's gift is only the future and sometimes he wishes he still had the Martian growth because then he'd be able to sit in Peter's head and know what he's thinking (immediately after Juno dismisses the thought).
When he breaks his leg, however, things reach a fever pitch. He won't let Juno near, won't let anyone help him, hides away in his tent and pretends to be asleep whenever anyone comes around to ask about him, which Juno knows is impossible because he can hear that stupid instrument playing at all hours. It drives them all nuts, but there's secret relief in knowing that at least he's not dying in there (God knows only what he's doing).
