“Let’s start then, yeah? I’ll turn you into meat and send it to your uncle.” He looks past her at Kieran , and his face falls into one of pure grief for a moment, before he laughs hollowly, bouncing on his feet with a wild grin. Anger burns in his blue eyes.

Summer seemed to have come around fast for Maria, she had turned 18 in the March and since then her life had been filled with the final exams for her a-levels. Summer, therefore, was supposed to be a time for her to relax before university, to allow herself to have all those experiences 18 year olds were supposed to want...

Maria, despite the urging from both parents and grandparents though was still reading, studying, working hard just in case there was even the slimmest chance she hadn't passed something - which was highly unlikely.

It was fair, that they worried she wasn't living her young life to the fullest. Maria had few friends, buried herself in books and couldn't resist correcting people. She'd been called everything at school and college from know-it-all to brainiac and had been used by others, so they could copy her answers, more times than she cared to admit.

Better, she thought, even if her family didn't agree, to stick to books, be content with the people around her and not worry about what everyone else seemed to think she was lacking. Life was long, she'd have plenty of time for silliness when she was older. Her Grandfather was testament to that.

Maria had come to the pub to give the illusion she was getting out of the house, she had still brought a book and a notebook with her. She would read the book, from her reading list, like she did with others she might write an essay on, once for pleasure then once for study. Concentration was becoming difficult as the evening chatter from the patrons in the pub grew the noise level and her concentration was entirely shattered when not to far from her a group of men were shouting, cheering, egging each other on and one of them was quoting Shakespeare.

"Oh for goodness sake," Maria finally snapped, almost, but not quite slamming her book down on the table. Her tone befitting someone much older and more matronly. "the line is:

She put real emphasis on the words he had gotten wrong or mostly missed. "If you're going to disturb everyone's evenings rowdily quoting the bard the least you can do is get it right."

Roy hears Atem's voice as he had been napping with covers over himself when he hears him ask where he is. "I'm right here, Sweetheart." He yawns softly, but his words are a soft whisper. He was finally awake and that helps a lot.

"Good afternoon, how did you sleep?" He asked softly, as he got up and stood beside his bed and took his hand. He was just glad to see that he was awake now. They could probably head home here pretty soon. They'd just have to get a ride from someone first.

[Vigi slowly regained consciousness as the humming of voices filled his mind. He tried to sit up, or even open his eyes... but it was too painful. He started coughing again.]

What do you know, the shortstack made it.

[Vigi felt enormous stone hands clasp his glove, while much smaller hands pressed what he hoped assumed was a wet washcloth to his eyes.]

[Slowly, painfully, Vigi managed to open his eyes. The Pillars looked back at him, looking worried. They both had some cracks, but somehow, they hadn't shattered each other. Vigi's head spun.]

[He started to cough again. Red liquid sprayed from his mouth as he struggled to keep from outright melting, followed by the same substance flowing from his tear ducts. John and Gerome looked terribly concerned.]

Ryung entered the men's bathroom after the other, reaching behind him and flipping the lock with a quiet click. Sangkyu did not yet know of his presence, but it would be made clear soon enough.

"You're a difficult man to get a hold of, Choi Sangkyu," he approached the other with his hands slid into his pockets, knowing Sang would likely startle to see him. It had been nearly a month since their separation and try as he might he never seemed to be able to get through to the other ��� not phone, not social sites, not visiting.

He sauntered up to the sinks where he'd found the other washing his hands, catching his eyes in the smudged mirror and relishing the expression on his face. "If I didn't know any better I'd say you were avoiding me," his voice trailed along, waving a hand nonchalantly beneath one of the paper towel dispensers before ripping one off and handing it to the other.

"But you've never been able to stay away from me for long, so that seems a bit silly, doesn't it?"

Agnes hadn’t had much contact with her Spellman relations other than the occasional exchange of letters over the years. So when she received one from her cousin Zelda inviting her (and Ada and Marian; Oscar couldn't get away) to come visit at the house they had taken in Newport, it was something of a surprise. Still, they had accepted and the three of them now stood in the entry hall, making observations of their surroundings.

Nope now it’s at the point that i’m shocked that people off tt don’t know what’s going down. I have no reach but i’ll sum it up anyway.

SCOTUS is hearing on the constitutionality of the ban as tiktok and creators are arguing that it is a violation of our first amendment rights to free speech, freedom of the press and freedom to assemble.

SCOTUS: tiktok bad, big security concern because china bad!

Tiktok lawyers: if china is such a concern why are you singling us out? Why not SHEIN or temu which collect far more information and are less transparent with their users?

SCOTUS (out loud): well you see we don’t like how users are communicating with each other, it’s making them more anti-american and china could disseminate pro china propaganda (get it? They literally said they do not like how we Speak or how we Assemble. Independent journalists reach their audience on tt meaning they have Press they want to suppress)

Tiktok users: this is fucking bullshit i don’t want to lose this community what should we do? We don’t want to go to meta or x because they both lobbied congress to ban tiktok (free market capitalism amirite? Paying off your local congressmen to suppress the competition is totally what the free market is about) but nothing else is like TikTok

A few users: what about xiaohongshu? It’s the Chinese version of tiktok (not quite, douyin is the chinese tiktok but it’s primarily for younger users so xiaohongshu was chosen)

Tiktok as a community has chosen to collectively migrate TO a chinese owned app that is purely in Chinese out of utter spite and contempt for meta/x and the gov that is backing them.

My fyp is a mix of “i would rather mail memes to my friends than ever return to instagram reels” and “i will xerox my data to xi jinping myself i do not care i share my ss# with 5 other people anyway” and “im just getting ready for my day with my chinese made coffee maker and my Chinese made blowdryer and my chinese made clothing and listening to a podcast on my chinese made phone and get in my car running on chinese manufactured microchips but logging into a chinese social media? Too much for our gov!” etc.

So the government was scared that tiktok was creating a sense of class consciousness and tried to kill it but by doing so they sent us all to xiaohongshu. And now? Oh it’s adorable seeing this gov-manufactured divide be crossed in such a way.

This is adorable and so not what they were expecting. Im sure they were expecting a reluctant return to reels and shorts to fill the void but tiktokers said fuck that, we will forge connections across the world. Who you tell me is my enemy i will make my friend. That’s pretty damn cool.
